Our dinner was lovely. We took the three course menu, everything we selected was super tasty.

The vitello tonnato was not a vitello tonnato. Super fatty and very thick (the vitello tonnato should be with no fat at all and super thin); it looked like more a fatty veal steak with sauce. Pricey for the quality received.

Made a reservation for 5:30 PM through Social Deal. My friend duly arrived a bit early, but was rudely told they were "still closed," even though the doors were open and everything seemed ready. When he asked if he should just walk outside, the staff member simply replied, "Yes, that's fine." She then went outside to smoke with a colleague and made a derogatory remark about "it's only €16.50" – the price of our Social Deal. We felt utterly unwelcome and immediately went elsewhere for dinner. A simple smile or a friendly "take a seat" could have prevented this. Unprofessional and unfriendly to customers. We definitely won't be returning.

Lovely vibe, great Italian food, and the menu is reasonably priced. With 2 drinks and water, you'd probably spend around 50 euros, which is a great price for the value. Also great for larger groups, the staff can help you tailor the experience. Highly recommended!

Very tasty pizza and very good service

Although we had booked online for the late seating, we still had to wait about 30 minutes for a table. I would suggest reviewing the booking system. The food did not meet our expectations: we ordered mixed pinse, including the “Primavera” pinsa, which had a strong truffle flavor that was not mentioned on the menu (and personally not appreciated). The pinse were partly burnt, and the tomato sauce tasted raw, as if it hadn’t been cooked enough. Unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing. However, the staff was very kind and friendly.

Came in at 17:29 (so before opening hours) into an entirely empty restaurant (safe for the staff). Were told they had been fully booked without staff member even checking the booking system or anything. Very disappointed.

The food wasn't great at all. For my starter, I had a caprese, which was literally a mozzarella ball cut in half with a few tomatoes, two basil leaves, and some arugula. For my main course, I had a pizza with truffle stacciatella, but that wasn't anything special either. The tiramisu for dessert, however, was very good. Luckily, we booked through a social deal, so the price wasn't too high. The restaurant does have a nice atmosphere, though.

The food was okay, nothing special. The pasta with ragu lacked a bit of salt for flavor. But luckily, there was salt, pepper, and spicy oil on the table. The service was very friendly, and the ambiance is great and inviting.

Way too hot inside. Service was really bad. We were kicked out and forced to drink our drinks and were left in the dark. I don’t know if they were students but on a friday night and a big table bill I would expect a little bit of courtesy and etiquette !

Recommended by friends, we found authentic cuisine with the flavors we craved, the ones that remind you of home. Prices are in line with the city norm, but the difference lies in the service, with attentive and knowledgeable staff.

Very cozy restaurant with great food. The staff was helpfull, friendly and flexible. When it got colder outside they gave us blankets and tried to find us a spot inside. The 3-course meal deal is well worth its price! I'd recommend!

Just back from Italy and then having pizza here, not a good choice. It was disappointing, as was the price. Pizza with blobs of cold truffle sauce and tasteless cheese. The sundae with "homemade" ice cream was the same. A little ice cream, chocolate sauce, a few pieces of cantuccini, and whipped cream from a can. Decaf cappuccino came from a bag. A bit weak. In short, I'm not very enthusiastic. There are better alternatives in Amsterdam that are also cheaper.

I was standing in front of the counter and thought: I'll just grab a quick pizza. I clearly stated that I wanted a tuna pizza, without capers, with onions, and with olives. I repeated this twice, and it was confirmed. I also asked if the pizza could be sliced. What I ultimately received: a pizza with onions, without olives, and unsliced. In short, not what I ordered. It's a shame the communication wasn't followed through properly, especially since I emphasized it several times.

I've never left a review before, but now I really need to. We had a reservation, but suddenly they were completely full. So they said, "Just sit outside with a drink and maybe you can come in." We then sat outside in the cold for half an hour, and then we got our menu inside because they didn't show up. Then, after 45 minutes, someone finally came and asked if we'd like a drink. But we really wanted to go inside, especially because it had been raining, so we couldn't sit at a regular table outside, and it was cold. So after we asked if they knew if we could come in, the waiter nonchalantly said, "Oh no, we don't have a table." So they kept us waiting for 45 minutes without a drink, menu, or update. Then the manager wouldn't even come out to help us, saying she was "busy." Even though she wasn't doing anything. When we went inside ourselves and tried to resolve the matter with her politely, the manager simply didn't care. She just said, "Then just sit outside." While all the tables are wet, she looks at us with bizarre arrogance, as if this is our problem. We were treated with zero respect. I wouldn't go there, because I've never experienced such terrible service in my entire life. And we had already paid in advance, so that's why we weren't leaving yet, but now we finally did.

It was a terrible experience. We had made a reservation. We were put outside to wait for a table that might become available. We were supposed to be offered tickets so we could start outside. Then we sat in the cold on wet chairs (that was the only thing available). We were forgotten for half an hour in the cold. The woman who was supposed to help us acted like we were stupid and literally left us out in the cold. To top it all off, she refused to speak to us again. Truly absurd.

Coziest restaurant i have been to in Amsterdam, the staff was very kind and welcoming and even helped us pick the right food according to our taste and mood. The food was exceptional, it was truly authentic italian food, made with fresh ingredients and by an extraordinary chef. 100/10 on every level!!!

Went here for my birthday, the food was delicious, the staff was beyond kind & considerate, and it was truly a fantastic experience, can’t say enough good things about it to be honest! Highly recommend!

Renato’s Losteria in Pe Pijp is a true gem! Warm atmosphere, super friendly service, and absolutely delicious Italian food. The pasta tastes authentic, the pinsa is perfectly crisp, and the wine selection is spot on. Great value for money – can’t wait to come back!

I ordered pinsa without cheese because I was just a companion and wanted to eat out of politeness. The lady said she would ask her boss if that was okay. Then she said it was fine. When the bill came, I was shocked. I was charged the full price, €13.95, for pasta with tomato sauce. The lady said there was no other option and I had to pay the full price. That was really cheeky. She should have told me in advance that the boss makes the pinsa without fior di latte and tomatoes. But you have to pay the full price. Do you still want to order it? Never again!

We had diner. We both had the seabas and as an entree the tomatos with Burrata. Both excellent. On the seabas I normally would prefer slightly less add-ons. The combination was good though. The sea basses a bit small, but fair to say, it did live up to what was said in the menu. And, more important, it was enough. The ice was great. The kiramisu unfortunately didnt live up to the real hugh expectations we did have by the time in the diner. It was not outstanding, just good :)

We were staying in an apartment close by and somewhat accidentally stumbled upon Renato when looking for a dinner place. The very friendly staff offered us a warm welcome, a table, quick service, and some unexpected but welcome advice on our dinner choices (For example, our lady waitress suggested the choice of pasta that would go best with the sauce when the original choice was not available). Our dishes - one pasta with truffels, one with walnuts and dried tomatoes, grilled potatoes in sour oil, and a feathery tiramisu- were very good., too. A special mention is reserved for the location: small lively square in the middle of the Pijp; quaint but full of atmosphere.

A very cozy restaurant. We had dinner there on a beautiful evening on the terrace. The terrace is fantastic. The food was good, and the price-quality ratio was excellent. Even though it was very busy, the service remained attentive and reasonably fast. Highly recommended.

Definitely stop in for a meal! We had the truffle ravioli and Spaghetti & clams and they were SO tasty!! The wine list did not disappoint either! All Italian wine! Try the Montepulciano!

Delicious food! Really authentic Italian, everything was great! Really an awesome boss the chef who cooked for the whole restaurant all by himself. If I have one point of criticism: bruschetta could have been a bit crispier, it was too soft. That is also my only point of criticism and this restaurant therefore deserves 5 stars in my opinion.

Good Italian food in Amsterdam. The pasta was nice, slightly under-seasoned, but still tasty. The atmosphere was lovely and the wine was good. Expensive for small portion sizes and we were charged 4 euros for a bottle of tap water.
