Renato's Osteria - De Pijp in Nieuwe Pijp

We had a delicious meal tonight at this cozy Italian restaurant, which also happens to have the cleanest and freshest-smelling toilet in De Pijp. The two ladies who served us were super friendly, gave good explanations of the dishes, and made us feel truly welcome. Something many hospitality businesses could learn from. We will definitely be coming back here more often!

I had a really lovely dinner at Renato’s Osteria in De Pijp. The pasta tasted genuinely fresh, and the carbonara was easily the highlight of the meal – rich, perfectly balanced, and exactly what I was hoping for. The wine selection was also great, with plenty of nice options to pair with the food. A special thank you to our server Cynthia who was welcoming, attentive and made us feel really comfortable throughout the evening. Great food, good wine and warm service – I’ll definitely be back

We ordered two pizzas, a salad and a beer. As we did not order two paying drinks they refused to give us free water as they only give it to people ordering derinks. As I insisted they gave us one glas when it was 90 degree F

Bad service We waited half an hour after dessert to see if we could order a coffee or something similar. At first we waited politely, then we waved at various waitresses to get attention, but we were really ignored. We just got up to ask if we could still pay because we were running late for another appointment, since no one was helping us. What bizarrely bad service. I had mentioned during the reservation that it was my boyfriend's birthday, but nothing was done about that either. In principle, that is just fine, but it shows what kind of hospitable restaurant it is. Food was tasty and excellent. Good wine and menu. Service terrible.

One of the most authentic italian osterias in amsterdam! The space is beautiful, the food is amazing and the service is great. Shoutout to the pappardelle al ragu, the ravioli alla burrata, the melanzane alla parmigiana and the tiramisu. A must-try in the city!

Unfortunately, no outdoor seating available despite prior reservation. The important 7 pm menu (Parmingiano al Melanzani) is already sold out. Construction site nearby (noise).

Had a tasty meal and it was cheap

Authentic Italian cuisine made with fresh ingredients set in a beautiful part of Amsterdam! The atmosphere was perfect for a dinner for two, but there were also larger groups around us. The weather was warm so everyone was seated outside, and the street is really quiet so it was easy to have a conversation. Top of the experience was the staff! They are passionate and attentive, and never hovered or rushed us. We can't wait to go back again!!

The customer service was rather bad. The gentleman, when asked questions, just ignored us with a very annoyed face expression. The lady was nice enough, but nothing that I would call friendly. The food, for its price, is nothing special. You can get much better authentic Italian pastas for the same price in Amsterdam. Tap water is for for a fee (which is ridiculous for Amsterdam), when ask about it, the waiters were quite passive aggressive, yet did not include water in fee. Thanks for that. Overall quite a “meh” experience.

Such a cold pasta with albertheijn tomato sauce! I highly recommend not to go there ever! Plus don’t ever order Aperol spritz it is barely visible in the small wine glass! Italians would never accept this portion! Be aware of what you order!

Nice restaurant with good food and wine. We were especially happy that almost all dishes could be served gluten-free, as a family member cannot tolerate gluten. Renato's fresh gluten-free pasta was delicious!

Came here to eat all the way from Belgium. Wow, super tasty, cozy neighborhood on the edge of "De Pijp". Lots of locals, authentic Italian cuisine, and super friendly service. 3-course menu for a very fair price. When we come to Amsterdam again, we will definitely be back. Thanks

Wowww! We came from Limburg via Social Deal after a day in Amsterdam. It exceeded our expectations. Best Social Deal ever! I am sure it would have been fantastic even without that deal. We were a little early but were able to take a seat. The service was super friendly and the food... that was fantastic! Pasta carbonara just like we ate it in Italy. Just the way it should be. The atmosphere is good, it's cozy, and you get an Italian lesson in the restroom. It's a shame there isn't a branch in Limburg, but luckily there is one in Nijmegen. Highly recommended!

We went for a restaurant week and really enjoyed the experience. The staff were friendly, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was cozy! (Apparently was too excited for the main course that forgot to take a pictures but the pasta with meat was soooo good)

We came in without a reservation on a Friday and they were able to fit us at the bar. It was so cozy and lovely inside. The food was really, really good. They had just run out of the bottle of wine we ordered, but they had an off menu special wine they offered at the same price and it was delicious. We will definitely be making this a future date night spot.

We had a fantastic meal and a fantastic atmosphere. We sat in the basement, which is incredibly cozy. The food was truly excellent, and our hostess was incredibly kind. Highly recommended!

A pleasant welcome. We had a reservation, which was fine. We waited for a while until we were seated, but the waiter didn't come by to order drinks. Instead, new guests arrived and were helped immediately, with drinks and appetizers. After waiting 40 minutes, we still hadn't been helped. What a disappointment! Luckily, we went to another Italian restaurant, and everything there was great! Don't go there, terrible service. There are better Italian restaurants in Amsterdam.

Food was delicious. As italians, wentruly enjoyed the good quality of the ingredients. Major highlights were the appetizers, the pappardelle with a fantastic ragu and the nice Sicilian wine. Service was fast and efficient. Great experience, thanks a lot to the host

I booked a dinner for two through AMEX and found every dish delicious, with excellent service. Although there was only one person in the kitchen, the wait wasn't long. We started with ham wrapped in savory crackers, along with cheese and olives 🫒 – a lovely appetizer. The appetizer was sweet beetroot 🫜 with pistachios, very fragrant and delicious. For the main course, we chose slow-cooked beef spaghetti, made with thick noodles. It was very flavorful and delicious, but a bit on the salty side. For dessert, we chose tiramisu; the subtle liqueur flavor paired with the cream was rich and delicious! The service was very friendly; they patiently explained everything and frequently asked if we needed anything. After each dish was served, they asked if it suited our tastes. The service was superb!! 👍 The atmosphere was also excellent. Highly recommended!! I'll definitely come again!!

It’s my first time having dinner here and I had a lovely experience! The place is really cozy and we had the 3 course menu with focaccia and prosciutto & carciofi as appetizer, carbonara and ravioli as first meal and tiramisu as desserts. Everything was delicious and the staff was really kind and made the whole dinner extra enjoyable. We’ll be back

From the moment we walked in, we felt genuinely welcome thanks to the very warm and hospitable reception. We were given a lovely table in a beautiful spot in the restaurant. The menu was explained with care and enthusiasm, which immediately whetted our appetite. We enjoyed an extensive three-course menu, and all dishes were generous in portion, carefully prepared, and beautifully presented. The flavors were excellent and clearly created with a true passion for cooking. Throughout the evening, the service was very friendly, professional, and attentive, without ever being intrusive. We had a wonderful evening at Renato’s Osteria — a place where hospitality and quality clearly come first. We will definitely be happy to return.

Stumbled in by accident on a Saturday night. It's a really cozy, cute little place. Great atmosphere, nicely decorated, and friendly staff. But most importantly: the food is excellent. You can order almost all main courses as appetizer portions, allowing you to mix and match. Besides that, the food is simply authentic Italian and delicious. Italian cuisine as it should be. Highly recommended!

Nice atmosphere, but the food is pretty average, and the service quite slow

Almost everything went wrong during our visit here this evening. The two stars I gave are for the things that did go well and deserve recognition are mentioned below. We made a reservation for 20:00 and we're accommoted accordingly by friendly hostess. We sat down and ordered water, a bottle of wine, and two main dishes with the possibility of dessert left open. We were served by a very friendly waitress. Wine: Negroamaro Salento. Good enough wine but the menu does not specify the vintage of the bottle name making it difficult to anticipate what's coming your way. The wine was served literally 30 seconds before the main dishes arrived at the table. Not a gastronomic chronology, I would highlight. Main 1: Spaghetti Alla Carbonara - horrible! Given that this is a very commercial chain, I expected such first thought dishes on the menu, but from the reviews expected it be much better than it was. The spaghetti was all broken - blasphemy in Italy. Moreover, it was all mushed together. What's more, it was undercooked - not Al dente, rather taken out of the water 2-3 minutes before it was Al dente. And my personal opinion- the sauce had a serious lack of flavor. I would even go so far as to call it bland. Also, the guanciale was undercooked, not one piece of guanciale in the whole dish was crispy. Main 2: Pinsa prosciutto - edible! Positives- the sauce and the dough. Negatives- Mozzarella and cheap store bought taste in prosciutto. Biggest problem with the Pinsa was the sporadic Mozzarella ( IC could find two pieces on the entire Pinsa). It could be because of hurried and inattentive approach from the pizzaiolo (and/or pass) or because of policy. I am inclined to assume the former. What's worse, the base was burnt. In light of all that went wrong with the mains, we decided to skip dessert seeing as how we had already had apéro at a different location.
