Rayleigh & Ramsay Westerpark in Spaarndammer- en Zeeheldenbuurt

It's funny to see the gentrification of Westerpark. About 20 years ago, there was a café here where beers cost 75 cents and customers enjoyed the sun with oxygen tanks and cigarettes. Now there's a chic wine bar where you can pour yourself a glass of Chablis for 8 euros. A nice contrast. Still, I had a great meal there, the service was friendly, and I have to say it's a fun concept. So I'll definitely be back. P.S. My tip would be to let customers load their card with orders and then pay, instead of constantly having to top up their card.

The food was delicious. The staff were super friendly and attentive. It was wonderful to try different wines (all equally delicious). It was especially nice that we got a nice discount (social deal) because we're not really into Amsterdam's hospitality industry (and its prices) anymore. It made a drizzly Tuesday evening even more enjoyable.

I was sitting on the terrace with a few friends, enjoying a nice glass of Chablis and ready to enjoy the €1 oysters. The oysters arrived, and we all smelled something strange. I politely walked to the bar and politely indicated that I wasn't going to risk it, given the smell (five people at the table smelled it). Then a very rude chef came out to explain to us that the oysters were perfectly fine (he even brushed the oysters right under his nose at the table). I didn't think that was very polite, but okay. A friend of mine then confronted him about it and was completely snapped at and called rude. We were aware that we were guests (many of us have worked in the hospitality industry, or still do). That didn't change the fact that the staff also had to maintain a certain standard of conduct. Shouting at guests was simply not done, hence this review. All in all, not recommended. It's a shame, because it's a fantastic concept.

Stumbled upon this restaurant by chance and happy we did so, enjoyed the €1 oysters served and also the grilled cabbage with miso was incredible! Loved the wine concept, choosing it by the glass and even tasting sips this gave you the chance to try something different. The service was great, he took time to chat with us and explain the concept of the restaurant, if we get time to come back we definitely will, it was great value considering what’s being charged elsewhere in Amsterdam.

Attracting customers by saying 1€ oysters , and then kicking you out for not having a drink. Very rude and disrespectful. He didnt even warn us before that you need to order a drink and just kicked us out.

Opening times on google and on the website said it was open yesterday. Arrived for a friends birthday and it was closed.

Unpleasant experience, as the owner told us to get out and did not serve what we ordered, because we did not order drinks. It was on Saturday when me and my friends came to this place, to eat oysters. On Saturdays, they have a promotion - each oyster costs 1 euros, with limit of 6 per person. We ordered 10 oysters in total, owner asked me to pay before even served. Then, he came up to us and asked “What would you like to drink” to which I answered “Thank you, just tap water”. After hearing this, he got aggressive, told us to get out, signed the kitchen to stop preparing our 10 oysters. They do not have any requirement to order drinks with oysters written anywhere. He also never told me that if we order oysters then we have to get drinks. I came here before, everything was great and nobody said anything to me when I ordered oysters only. I told them about it, he said “we hate people like you”. What if I am a minor and want to eat oysters, and I cannot order any alcohol? What if I just want oysters? Why can’t the owner peacefully and respectfully explain that it is mandatory to order drinks, besides oysters? We would have done it, if he explained it nicely. Could have made it as a requirement that ordering a drink is mandatory, or explained it nicely, rather than disrespecting and kicking out their customers.

The owner was rude to my friends partner we all ordered oysters and wine and he came later and only ordered oysters then the owner came out and said you know you have to order a drink right you cant just order oysters eventhough we had a drink card between us. Her partner soon left and refused to spend money after that rude comment. However, we stayed for a while bought food after too and topped up more wine and paid. Then he tried to charge us extra for the oysters her partner ordered.I honestly think he was discriminating him as he is not the typical white dutch yuppie that comes here, and just assumed he wouldnt order a drink.

The quality of the dishes here is crazy considering the prices. In this economy and in Amsterdam?? Insane. Favorite restaurant for many years already (coming from a local) and will continue to come here for many more to come! Love all the events happening as well! Check their instagram for the calendar! Here you will receive a card where you deposit money and can go all out to taste 100+ wines. From dispensers you can choose a whole, half or a tasting glass for each wine. The range is so wide that you can put together a small sauvignon blanc or a merlot tasting yourself, for example. Or a tasting that goes well with a cheese board. Recommended for Saturday is a portion of oysters (for €1 each) with a glass of Chablis.

We have celebrated our beloved friend’s birthday and have tried champagne and number of wines. We had fun !

Nice wine bar with delicious wines. Unfortunately the food has (become) very bad. We reluctantly ate the 3-course sharing dinner. A 100 gram sirloin steak that you had to share and that for 35 euros per person.

My favorite spot in the area and therefore I go there very often. I am extremely impressed every time! Delicious wines that you 'draw' yourself, and the opportunity to try more expensive wine by the glass that normally only goes by the bottle. The food is always delicious, good value for money. The pointed cabbage with miso butter is my all-time favorite! The chef's menu is also a fun way to get to know the dishes, at a nice affordable price!

It is a top tent with a nice concept where you can try a lot of wine. It's just a shame that smoking is so encouraged, and that you often sit next to a stinking butt on the terrace, which also contradicts the essence of the tent. Smelling and tasting a wine does not go well with cigarette smoke. They should ban it here.

We had a delicious meal here on the terrace! 2 dishes per person were enough for us. We didn't drink wine.

Nice wine bar where you purchase a card, deposit an amount of money and can tap wine by the glass in 3 sizes. The wines are accompanied by an explanation in Dutch and English. Many different and surprising wines

What a wonderful place for a Saturday evening. Enough wines to choose from. What made it easy is that the wines were matched to color and taste. We also had delicious oysters for €1 and the ribs are highly recommended! All in all, a good bill at the end of the evening, but it was all worth it!

Very special different restaurant with a very interesting wine tasting concept. You get a charged card to serve yourself the wine of choice. The food is tasteful and the service is friendly. Great concept self service wine bar. You can buy credits and try all the wines available by yourself. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is cozy. I have only tried the snacks so I do not have an opinion about the food. I really enjoy the process of browsing the wines though.

Came here for a Saturday night meal with a friend and left very happy with the wine choices, and the food. The bread was warm and delicious. We ordered the cabbage and cauliflower, which were both excellent, and paired those with different white wines. Then went on to the flank steak, which was also delicious, paired with red. Didn’t need to get a dessert when there are sweet wines! And that’s what we did. Will be back

Funny concept. Kind of Jamin for wine drinkers. Nice that you can drink by the sip, by the glass or by half a glass. Despite largely self-service, very friendly service. Haven't tried the food yet, but we will come back here again.

Nice and cozy, good food, somewhat small portions

If you like wine and swipping cards this is the place for you. The steak was good. Small tables (but they also have bigger tables)

Oysters are €1 on Saturdays, which is the reason why we went there. The concept is great: you get a card with an chosen amount and then you can use that to taste +100 wines! You can chose between different amount of milliliters. We tried the food too and I would recommend the ceviche of swordfish. The gambakroketten and steak were fine. The patatas bravas missed in my opinion the typical Spanish red sauce, but the aoli was tasty. Service was quick and friendly and it was no issue to charge my phone.

They have a self-service system that leaves you in full control of how you'd like to enjoy their excellent selection of wine. Food is amazing too.

I was pleasantly surprised with the overall experience at R&R. A large wine list doesn't always translate to a quality selection, but they really offer some nice wines. They also have great food. They're small plates so best for sharing. I will definitely go again.

So many choices of wine to choose from and self-serve. We also bought steak tartare, grilled tuna, swordfish cervice and roasted cabbage. Everything was incredible! Staff are friendly & kind, and when we went for Sunday lunch there were plenty of tables to choose from. Would 100% recommend

If you really like the concept of pouring your own wine and a wide variety then it is a four star. Strangely one night I was kicked out with my dog after we had been there multiple times before. No real explanation for that hurts my customer service rating.

Food is outstanding, totally unexpected in a venue known for its wine. Come here for the food alone! Superb veggie options. Wine - went for the tasters to try a number of styles and rounded off with a sweet wine. Delicious. Very friendly, welcoming staff. Unobtrusive but helpful.
