Really great Thai food! The fried rice was amazing, full of flavour and generously packed with meat and vegetables. You can tell it’s freshly made and well seasoned, not bland at all. The fried noodles were also very tasty, nicely balanced and not too oily. We also tried the spring rolls and they were crispy, fresh, and perfect as a starter. Portions are good and everything tasted authentic and comforting. Definitely a place I would come back to when craving good Thai food.

First of all, I want to say we had a delicious meal!! The only difference was that they forgot to put the tea light under the pan, which caused the food to cool down. Not a big deal, but because they gave us white rice instead of egg noodles, we had to wait extra long, and that caused the food to cool down. The service could be better, but the food was delicious.

I've eaten at this Red Restaurant several times now. It's a cozy, small restaurant—not too big, not too small—with a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. You can also sit outside, although it can be a bit chilly at this time of year. The food is truly delicious: everything tastes fresh, well-seasoned, and clearly prepared with care. My favorite is number 20 on the menu—chicken with oyster sauce, broccoli, red and green bell peppers, carrots, red onion, and cashews. A perfectly balanced dish that keeps you going, even when you're already full! The staff is also always friendly and attentive. The blonde woman behind the counter deserves a special compliment—always with a smile and kindness. I also think the food here is much better than at the well-known Thai restaurant Bangkok in Amsterdam. In my opinion, Red Elephant is a true hidden gem that deserves more attention. In short: fresh food, a pleasant atmosphere, and friendly service—absolutely recommended for anyone who loves good Thai food!

We had a wonderful meal, starting with a selection of five different small appetizers. Two different main courses came with fried rice and noodles so we could sample each other's dishes. We chose something not too spicy. One dish could have been a bit spicier, but otherwise, it tasted delicious. It was a bit chilly in the restaurant upon arrival, but the doors closed, and the place quickly filled up. It's across from the theater, so it's a great location for a nice pre-dinner meal. Service is fast and friendly.

Delicious and authentic Thai food, beautifully presented. The price-quality ratio is excellent, and the service is so friendly and efficient. Oh yeah, you don't have to wait long for your order, which is another plus. I'd love to come back!

Had chicken satay and a beef pad khing that I really enjoyed, service was quick and helpful despite the business when I went. Only note is that the portions of the meat being good, I'd have liked them to be a chopped a little smaller so you can have a mixed spoonful. Will definitely come again when I'm around next.

I went there yesterday, and the terrace was empty. I asked if I could eat there. I had my little dog with me. I asked for a table outside, and the staff's faces said, "No, get out of here! Management doesn't want dogs in the restaurant." I stammered, "I want to sit outside!" Their faces had already turned away. I understand why it wasn't full! It felt so unwelcoming, like you'd committed murder. I'll never go there again, even without a dog!

A culinary masterpiece! I ate at The Red Elephant today and wow… what a taste experience! Every dish was packed with fresh herbs, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully presented. The balance of spicy, sweet, and savory was just right. Kudos and a deep bow to the chefs; you can taste their passion and craftsmanship in every bite. This isn't just ordinary food; this is art on a plate. I'll definitely be back!

I spontaneously went here for dinner and was pleasantly surprised. The food and atmosphere are truly wonderful. The dishes that came with three peppers were actually three peppers. Authentic flavors. The service is also really great! There are plenty of tables to sit at, but it's not a very large restaurant. There's also a bench against the wall. There's also an outdoor terrace. I'll definitely be back!

Every time I have a guest visiting me, I end up taking them to Red Elephant for dinner. You can never go wrong with anything you choose from the menu. All is so tasty! In addition, they can cater to different dietary requirements. Including vegans.

I liked the starters and the pad thai but the red curry with fish was very dissapointing because the fish was deep fried with very little fish inside and a fat greasy layer of fried batter on the outside. The service was great.

Today I ordered KOENG KAENG KHIEW WAAN which is a shrimp food. In addition to the food, I ordered fried rice instead of white rice. The food cost a total of 25.50 and I had to pay €4.50 more for fried rice. I thought that was very strange when you use white rice instead of other rice. Well that wasn't a problem either. I had a plate of food worth €30 in total. I counted the shrimps. There were 5 shrimps in the food 🦐 and it is a plate of food worth €30. I'm like, normal man, you put a meal in front of me for €30 and it only contains 5 shrimps. I think the plate costs a total of about €4 to €5 euros, of course I understand that you also have to make a profit on it because you have to pay your staff, you have to pay rent, you have to pay for gas, electricity, everything is understandable, but I pay for the shrimp and I want to eat them too!!!! For those who don't believe it, I also have a receipt that I can prove

There is a Dutch female server who is always there and she is always very pleasant, smiling, polite and friendly. Very refreshing when some service/servers can make you feel burdensome and unwelcome at other places. Not here! They are (all) very kind and the food is of course delicious and authentic!

I’ve been here three times in less than one year as a tourist. First time last year happened to just spot it leaving the hotel and the red curry is one of the best I’ve had! Came back two days later. Wanted to go for Thai this year and couldn’t help but come back! Staff and service is great and the food without doubt is tasty and great. Location is also lovely by the water has a nice vibe!

Came in at 9:35pm and they close at 10pm. The lady looked so shocked and unfriendly and sent me away because the kitchen was closed. I fully understand that the kitchen is closed, but it can really be said in a normal way.

Our family and we had a very tasty mie phad here, duck in sweet and sour sauce with pineapple and Thai shrimp in tempura. The portions of the dishes were sufficient. The service was friendly and helpful. We would love to come back here again.

Excellent service. We came on a Sunday evening without a reservation, yet they quickly found us a comfortable table. Our waitress was very attentive: she brought me an English menu, and when we asked for an extra plate for our daughter, she brought two for us to choose from. She even checked with the chef to have part of our daughter’s soup carefully poured into another bowl. I ordered tom yum with shrimp, and my husband had spicy egg noodles with chicken. The portions were fairly small, but everything was incredibly delicious. We ordered the beef broth with noodles for our daughter, though it ended up being our least favorite dish. Honestly, it was a bit challenging to find something suitable for a child, as most dishes are quite spicy.

Good food, good atmosphere Really enjoyed it!

We had dinner here yesterday with a group of 10 people. We first chose mixed starters. It was fine, but the sauce seemed to come from a jar instead of the delicious homemade chili sauce that you are used to with Thai starters. We thought that was a shame. Then main courses red curry with chicken fillet. It was far too salty and actually inedible, and unfortunately for all of us. The green curry with shrimps, the shrimps were mealy in taste and not tasty. We had fried rice as a side dish. Also very salty and not authentic Thai fried rice. Two salty dishes together. For dessert we had warm chocolate cake and it was certainly not fresh and it looked exactly like that of the Albert Heyn and unfortunately the cheesecake was not special either. All in all not a good experience and certainly not authentic Thai. We will never eat here again. Not comparable to other Thai restaurants in Amsterdam and the surrounding area.

Food nothing to complain about. The service was a horror. The female manager on duty in particular should soon take a course on how to deal with customers. How rude he is! The service also left nothing to be desired. The lady in question ignored our request to take a seat outside as reserved. No empathy or flexibility at all. Grumpy appearance. If I were the owner I would have known. This is not a good business card to keep people coming back. I've been here before and always didn't think much of the service level, but now it was even rude. Once again the food is tasty, but I think I will choose another Thai from now on where they are friendly.

We made a reservation for dinner and were warmly welcomed. The place is not very big, but it has a very cozy atmosphere. The food is delicious and you can see how the chef has prepared it through the open kitchen. I would come and eat here again and recommend friends and family to eat here as well. We had the freshly made fish cakes and a red curry with chicken.

It's my 4th time eating at this place and every time is phenomenal. The food is delicious, service is amazing! I really recommend you to try nr 16 with white fish (THE BEST! just thinking about it makes my mouth water) and number 34 with chicken. We will come back for sure! Also: pay attention to the size of the portion. You are not going to leave this place neither hungry nor disappointed! Go and make a reservation! You will thank me later ;)

Service is very poor. Not helpful. A waitress had me to go to the toilet to the turkish bar downstairs, instead of to the toilet inside the restaurant. Why?:) didnt like me? another waitress didnt want to share the bill. There were 4 of us. We wanted to have one printed bill and pay separately and the restaurant does it bc I did it many times there. Too much work for the waitress???:) what if i had only a little cash and little money on the card? Cant i share the bill into 2 ways of payments? Of course i should!:) lazy stuff, very not welcoming blond waitress behind the bar

Great food, really tasty. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and a great view from the terrace. A bit busy at times, but you deserve that when you're that good! I'm already looking forward to next Friday when I'm back in Amsterdam, I already know what I'm taking!

It is noticeable that there is a new chef team. The food is different than before. The spring rolls are less tasty and refined, with large pieces of chicken. The curry is a bit watery and Pad Thai is too sweet with an overpowering slice of sauce. I keep coming back for the Massaman chicken; it is still the best. Portions are generous by the way. Shared dish advice and never take both the same thing

We found a big fly in the sweet and sour shrimp dish. Very expensive compared to quality (also not considering the fly) in my opinion. We called to complain and the lady at the phone could not even apologise (she did after we reminded it is good manner to). The offered a replacement dish.

We were there at 9:10 p.m. and they didn't let us in because they said they were closing soon. According to the opening times, they are open until 10 p.m. Outrageous.

While the food was great, service was not. We were among the first customers in the restaurant and after our entree dish we saw the room filling up and other customers getting served main dishes and leaving while we were kept on hold for at least 40-45 minutes after our entree dishes without any explanation. We tried our best to find out what was happening, this was not easy since it was tough getting a hold of the server and we were told twice the orders were coming right up - Only the second time this was true. A drink order didn't make it to our table so I guess it's safe to assume this also happened with our main orders. Mistakes happen, owning up to them would be nice. Especially if you ring up the register full price after all this happening without blinking.

Red Elephant is an ok Thai restaurant, dishes are ok, sufficient and tastefull. Staff was ok but we were addressed in English while we speak native Dutch. Price is €€

I went there for interview at 29 August 2023. And she asked me to work on 5 Sept 2023. I asked her ‘will i get paid?’ so many times and she said ‘YES’. And I came there and worked like she asked me to do. I worked from 3.30-10pm. She even wasn’t there because she has to take care of her baby at home! She asked me to come because she wanted to see how i work but she wasn’t there. And when i am finished, they just sent me home without paying me. And then few days later, she contacted me to come again next week and I asked about my payment for 5 Sept but she said, ‘normally trial day won’t get paid’ !!!!!!! And then my uncle came there few days later to take my money (salary). At the beginning they didn’t want to pay me still. After a long fight (conversation) they paid me only 30€ for 6.5hours working!!!!!! So becareful guys. Better not to work there!!!

Rude owner, poor service and quality has deteriorated significantly

I had a good experience in restaurant. But also had an experience that has caused me to never return. I made an order which I thought was delivery but was pick up. Phoned to explain the mistake was told to contact an email address also to no help. Over 40 euro was spent and no items received. I made contact received a blunt response and after that no more contact. Hopefully people will have better experience but I will not return to this place again!

The restaurant has a beautiful view of a lake with a water fountain illuminated in the evening. The service was very friendly and the food and drinks were served quickly. The quality of the food was convincing and authentically Thai.

Lovely food, great atmosphere and perfect wait staff! Thodoris in particular was so fun and attentive! The portion sizes were big so had enough to take away with us. Will definitely revisit.

We had food delivered and were really impressed with the quality and taste; The Pad Thai with shrimp had a lot of very large shrimp in it and it arrived super hot. If we are in Amsterdam again, we would order here again.

All the food was very flavourful, and portions were perfect. Friendly staff as well. Only negative is that they didn't have any blinds on the glass wall, and the sun was extremely uncomfortable the whole time; I didn't have a hat or sunglasses to deal with the glare. Still, will absolutely go back there to eat again.

Food was fine, nothing much to complain about. However, those 2 ladies who work there would be better off working at the coffee shop next door. No smile, antisocial, not friendly at all. Such staff will cause you to miss and/or lose many customers. I understand that staffing is very difficult in these times, but they really do not belong in your restaurant.

Red Elephant is een klein restaurant maar wat ons betreft een echte aanrader. Heel erg goed gegeten met een vriendelijke bediening die de gerechten ook snel uitserveerde. Top!

Vriendelijke bediening, leuke locatie aan het Sloterplas. Het eten was minder om heerlijk te zijn. Niet slecht maar niet zo goed als ik Thais ken. De kip (kipfilet) was een beetje taai, beetje hard. En ik miste toch wel het verfijnde van de Thaise keuken. Dat alles in overweging nemende betaal je best veel.

Wat een gezellig restaurant is dit! Gemoedelijke sfeer, prachtig uitzicht, genoeg parkeergelegenheid en zeer servicegericht personeel. Heerlijk eten, voor ieder wat wils. Kan je tegen goed pittig eten? Ben je hier aan het juiste adres! Kan je er niet tegen, (zoals ik)? Geef het aan en ze houden met alles rekening. Geen zin om te koken? Super snel en makkelijk eten afhalen en lekker thuis op de bank! Bedankt weer en tot de volgende keer!!

I grabbed takeout tonight after a walk around the lake and it was delicious! The waiter was friendly and helpful. The food came out pretty quickly and was wrapped up so well for the walk back to my hotel. The red curry had just the right amount of spice. The fried rice was tasty. I also got veggie spring rolls and they were small but tasty. Worth a stop!

Een spontane avond in Osdorp, eerst naar de gamehall geweest en aangestrand in dit restaurant! Aangename verassing, wat was het eten kwalitatief goed en een hele fijne sfeer. Service was ook top! Aanrader en voor herhaling vatbaar. Massaman met kip en phai thai met biefstuk.

Erg mooie locatie waar je lekker aan het water kan eten. Ook was het eten super lekker en stond het binnen 10 minuten bij ons op tafel. Zelfs de bediening was super vriendelijk! Echt een aanrader dit restaurant

Das Essen war sehr lecker, die Bedienung war freundlich und als ein falsches Gericht geliefert wurde, hat sie das kurzerhand korrigiert. Das Personal war generell sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Essen war 1A da kann man überhaupt nichts sagen auch die Zubereitungszeit war sehr angenehm kurz
