A wonderful beach bar where my mind can relax. Always a friendly welcome and good service. The food and drinks are always top-notch. A lovely place to enjoy the sea. Highly recommended!

Trying to call the restaurant is literally mission impossible. They have an AI virtual assistant which does not understand what you say and switch to Dutch in the middle of the conversation. Tried to ask several times to let me speak with a real person but it never works out. Who ever thought having an AI virtual assistant for a restaurant at the beach was a great idea…..

"Come on, let's go to De Republiek," a friend of mine said. "Well, okay." We arrived at 11:15 and both had a cappuccino, which was nice and hot, and then the second, which was disappointingly lukewarm. "Come on, let's get something to eat, it's impossible, it's not until 12 o'clock sharp." "Fine, we'll wait." Two minutes before 12, the gentleman arrived. Two smash burgers and a portion of fries, which wasn't great. The burger was very bland and had more sauce than flavor; the bun could have been toasted a bit. Then the fries, which came straight from the sea and were so salty. "Did you like it?" was the question. "Well, no, and very salty; we hear that often," the gentleman said. "Huh!" Oh well, let's pay. Over €60, fries were obviously on the bill, even though we still had a full container. Unfortunately, not for me anymore. The location is great, and I'd like to work on the rest!

We've been coming here since the beginning and have tried again and again, but this was unfortunately the last straw. Six oysters for €30, literally stacked on top of each other like a tower. For that price, you expect more than a Jenga arrangement on a plate. The presentation made no attempt to justify the high price. Then a Grüner Veltliner, clearly a day old, for €9 a glass, served in glasses that unfortunately didn't look fresh either. That's a peculiar interpretation of hospitality. This is especially painful, especially because we were loyal guests. We wish everyone a bad day, but this feels like a regular occurrence. For us, this was unfortunately the last time.

We often come here for drinks and a bite to eat. The atmosphere is great and the food is always good! It's not your typical beach bar, but much more luxurious and has lovely seating inside. In short, fantastic!

Beautiful restaurant. Always very busy in the summer. We love coming here with the kids for a drink; it's also a great place to sit in the winter.

Not for the first time. The place was great, the food was great, but there was a small faux pas from the staff: they grabbed cutlery from the table next to us that had just been vacated and put it on our table because we were one short before clearing the table. We'll happily return and will definitely do so again.

Potentially a great place, but unfortunately, the staff is uninspired and grumpy. I've experienced this several times. Don't work in hospitality if you're not willing to approach people in a friendly manner. It's a shame. A very strange experience; we were texted about a blockage—I'll leave the details unspecified. We were accused of clogging the toilet, which was certainly not our fault.

I ordered a crab and lobster bisque and lobster toast for my appetizer for €17.50. When it was served, there was no crab or lobster in the soup. And there was no toast either. It was a watery soup that tasted like seawater and cream, with nothing in it. There was no toast, just a fried ball with a few missing pieces of fish in it. I told her it wasn't what I expected. The menu says lobster and crab, but it wasn't visible anywhere. They took it away. When I paid, I had to pay for the dish and was given a 10% discount because "tastes differ." I told her I found this very strange because it didn't match the description. According to her, there's nothing they can do about it, and I just had to pay for the dish. Ridiculous service and quality! It says "luxury dining out," but the price of the food is luxurious, but the quality isn't. €9 for a sandwich with mayonnaise, €30 for a steak without sides, €27 for a small piece of fish without anything on the side. The view is nice, but the tables are very close together, so you can hear the people behind you talking. Fine for a coffee after a walk on the beach, but otherwise, I would never go there again.

Great location, with a lot of potential! I was here for breakfast. The place was almost empty, so I don't quite understand the other reviews. The service was a bit distant and slow at times, but maybe that was due to the morning. When it gets busier, I do think there might be delays. All in all, though, a lovely morning at the beach.

Love this spot ✨ Cozy vibes, gorgeous beach view, and super chic decor. You can come here in summer or winter. Perfect for a coffee, glass of wine, some bites and for soaking in the seaside atmosphere. The food is very good for a beach place! Service can be disappointing at times, but I did notice some positive changes. They also have a vending machine for spf and beauty products. How cool is that? Definitely coming back! 🌊☀️

The steak was too raw in some places to cut through properly with a knife, even though the outside was well-grilled. The salad also contained slices of chili pepper, making it extremely spicy and not as fresh as expected. Furthermore, the Irish coffee was served too late, so the whipped cream had completely disappeared, leaving the glass literally half empty. And this despite it not being particularly busy at that time. At the table behind us, we also heard guests complaining about the food.

Restaurant Republiek wasn't a pleasant experience for us. There's almost always too little space to sit comfortably, which quickly makes you feel unwelcome. It's also odd that you have to pay for a bed, something you don't expect at this kind of establishment. The food was also very disappointing and didn't meet our expectations at all. All in all, a disappointing visit that we won't be repeating.

“Beautiful Location, Disappointing Service and Food Standards” Republiek has one of the best locations you could wish for, right on the beach in Bloemendaal with a beautiful setting that promises a great start to the day. Unfortunately, the service and food quality don’t live up to the view. I visited with my girlfriend for breakfast. The restaurant was almost empty, so I expected attentive service. That was not the case. We ordered two croissant a la plancha, expecting warm, nicely prepared croissants as the name suggests. Instead, we received two regular croissants with ham and cheese – one of which even had a piece of plastic inside the ham. I immediately pointed it out to the food runner, who returned it to the kitchen. He did his part by apologizing and bringing a replacement, but the chef’s reaction was far from caring. In a restaurant, especially one that wasn’t busy, something like plastic in the food is a serious mistake that deserves proper attention and accountability. We ordered two more coffees and asked for the check. Surprisingly, there was no further apology, no gesture, and no sign that the incident was taken seriously. In short: Republiek offers a stunning location, but service and food control are lacking. A shame, because the potential here is huge – but as it stands, the experience doesn’t match the setting.

Lovely place, super friendly staff, but the food was unfortunately subpar and overpriced. My wife had red mullet that wasn't crispy on the skin and a few shrimp that probably weren't good because she vomited four hours later. The few lettuce leaves that came with it were also close to their expiration date. My hamburgers were good, but the coleslaw was far from fresh, and the fries were very small and relatively greasy. Too bad, because there's nothing wrong with the place or the staff.

As beautiful as the place and location are, the service and food are just as bad. Such a shame!

Republiek is a large, atmospheric beach club in Bloemendaal. The weather wasn't great, but luckily we had made a reservation: by 7:30 PM, the place was packed. Inside, there's a lively atmosphere with a mix of families, young couples, older guests, and lovers of both simple and elaborate dishes. Despite the crowds, the staff is attentive, helpful, and professional. The menu is extensive – from fries, pizza, and salads to luxurious appetizers, main courses, and desserts. Perhaps a bit too varied for us, but the food was excellent and the price-quality ratio was excellent. We had a lovely evening and will definitely return to enjoy the large outdoor terrace when the weather is nice.

Mooie locatie, maar daar is het ook mee gezegd… De bediening was erg slordig, en het eten viel tegen, zeker voor de prijs.

Had lunch here this afternoon. The salad was floating in sauce and the anchovies were missing. I reported it twice, but they didn't address it. The location and view were great.

Very quiet and refined at the foot of the beach

A magnificent restaurant with a large, refined Dutch interior—or, as I like to call it, casual-chic—and an equally spacious beach terrace with tables and/or sofas. I enjoyed lunch outside at Easter in 20-degree temperatures, or dinner there in July while admiring the sun setting over the sea. However, I had to stay indoors in August due to the strong winds that characterize the North Sea coast. The food was good, with appetizers to share, and then the fish, first and foremost. The service was very discreet, and the atmosphere very relaxed. The large parking lot is on the bend where the road begins to run along the seafront toward Zandvoort. It's quite expensive, but like everything around here.

We came with zero expectations… and ended up having the best grilled fish ever, so good, we came back two days in a row! A hidden gem right on the beach.

We spent two days at De Republiek (beach beds by the terrace, 75 euros each is expensive), especially considering what we spent. Things are different abroad (minimum spend, etc.). But what a sweet team, and especially Emma!! You were so kind to us, so grateful for De Republiek family, and that's what she radiated, and it's so valuable to us as entrepreneurs! The food was delicious, and everyone took such good care of us! Thank you, Emma (and the rest of the team).

In verband met de verjaardag van mijn vrouw gingen we eten bij Republiek, op 18 juli. Het eten was super lekker, vooraf Bisque en hoofdgerecht Zeebaars. Deze recensie schrijf ik echter vanwege de opvallend vriendelijke medewerkers/bediening. Echt, je ziet het nog maar weinig op deze manier. Al bij al een superleuke avond gehad!

Fijne levendige ambiance! Bediening was zeer vriendelijk,eten gevarieerd en goed ( pizza zo lekker) en werd vlot geserveerd. Wij verbleven 1 week in Bloemendaal en hebben 4× bij de Republiek ,s avonds gegeten.En voelden ons als ouder stel tussen het jeugdige publiek op ons gemak!!!

Over the years, the quality of the menu has declined significantly. We waited over an hour for a simple meal we had ordered. The portion sizes are small, and the weight of the meat is intentionally not listed on the menu. Additionally, the menus are available only in Dutch. Service was extremely slow and lacked professionalism. Overall, we were very disappointed with our visit to this restaurant. The only truly positive aspect is its beachfront location. The food quality ranges from average to slightly below average.

We had such a great experience here. We were taking a stroll along the beach and stumpled upon it. We had one of the best hummus dishes of my life. The ambience is crazy. It was all super chill. There was even a tree indoors, where birds where flying around. Very special place. Please go there if youre around.

Cocktails are stingy, staff doesn't look at you when you come as a non-Dutch person. And the young girls who work there just look at us arrogantly. I will definitely never come here again. Only asked once if I wanted something to drink in the two hours that I've been there.

Highly recommended! The service was friendly, our drink order came promptly, and the homemade iced tea was especially refreshing. Unfortunately, we had to make ourselves known both during our meal and later when paying, as no one came to us for a while. Nevertheless, the quality of the food was top-notch, the overall atmosphere was very clean, and the interior was very classy and stylish, and the restrooms were clean. The location right on the beach is fantastic, and there are plenty of parking spaces (for a fee).

Needs improvement! Place has a lot of potential, however the quality of food and staff are really disappointing. Had to wait 1 hour for coffee and water and food even longer. We were attended by many different waiters, think it would help to assign personnel to certain tables to avoid confusion with orders (like with ours). The prices of the food are high and not in line with portion size or quality. Crispy shrimps were cold, definitely not fresh or crispy. Luckily the fish was warm and flavorful. Hope to see it improve, but for now would not come back here.

We ordered a bottle of water right away. After waiting 40 minutes and asking twice if the water was still coming, we left.

Had to wait a very long time to get a place. Apparently you can reserve beds which was not possible to inform anywhere. I had to ask 4 times for ginger ale which I ordered and did not arrive. Then it comes without ice. We had to wait 15 minutes for the menu card while there was enough staff present.

Always come here, had a lovely day, but unfortunate the end was a bit is super friendly, but we waited more than 1,5 hours on a pizza and when the pizza arrived it was so cold. Excuses from the staff, but this is not ok…

Super slechte bediening. Personeel staat met 10 man te kletsen en helpen geen gasten terwijl er veel mensen in de warmte staat te wachten om geholpen te worden. Ze zijn niet vriendelijk, hebben de reserveringen niet op orde en het personeel negeert je gewoon. Super slechte communicatie en enorme lange tijd moeten wachten om überhaupt te woord te worden gestaan. Een grote nachtmerrie als je hier met je gezin en vrienden wilt gaan zitten. Ik raad het iedereen af!

We had both dinner and lunch with a group. A lovely beach bar, excellent quality food from the kitchen. However, the service left much to be desired. Glasses were forgotten, as were coffee, etc. A shame.

Grumpy staff, they all think they are better than the rest, the food you order contains more junk than real meat or fish compared to the price, really bad menu, all rubbish, cocktails undrinkable, never go there, snooty mess

We asked for the bill 3 times and it took 20 minutes after finishing food. The staff was not even so busy, so really don’t understand why it took so long for a bill. Food tastes nice although portions are very small. A “main” is basically a starter

I was there today with my girlfriend, we felt like having a sandwich, it wasn't on the menu, only on the children's menu, so we ordered 2 children's menus. A little later we were told that we weren't allowed to order a children's menu (because we're not children?) Sorry, I can just order whatever I feel like? Then we ordered a tuna sandwich without egg. Later she came with a tuna sandwich with egg, so I asked her to remove the egg. After consultation, she came back and said that it wasn't possible and that I would have to do it myself. All in all, we weren't welcome, the staff was very rude and not customer-friendly. The food wasn't tasty, so never again for us!

Disappointed by the Decline It’s disappointing to witness such a noticeable decline in service and quality at a place we’ve supported since the very beginning. Hospitality is a tough industry—no doubt about that—but when a venue leans into being stylish and pretentious, it needs to back that up with substance. Unfortunately, Republiek falls short. The experience no longer matches the promise. I truly hope this feedback is taken to heart. A beautiful setting means little without the service and quality to match. Without improvement, even the most well-designed places risk blending into mediocrity.

We were a bit hesitant at first because of some mixed reviews, but we’re so glad we decided to go – we would have missed out on a great experience! The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and we didn’t have to wait long at all. I’d definitely recommend it. Maybe the wait times depend on when you go, but for us, everything was smooth and enjoyable.

Ordered steak, it was cold, and they didn't even ask how I wanted it. Sent it back, which was a bit warmer, but it had a lot of tendons and was small. Such a shame. I later learned that pizzas could also be ordered for lunch from Thursday to Sunday, but this wasn't mentioned.

Stopped in for breakfast on a Sunday morning and had a great experience. The service was warm, attentive, and quick. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals: yogurt, fried eggs, and scrambled eggs. The atmosphere was calm and inviting, making it an ideal spot for a relaxed weekend breakfast. I’d gladly return for another peaceful start to the day.

Chilling out on the beach is wonderful!

For a group of 14 a very limited choice, so almost everyone ordered the same thing. We first got a tiny glass of curry soup. The taste was not bad, but a glass. pfff. And then most of us got a Caesar salad. What a disgrace that salad. A lot of poor quality lettuce, and those thick veins do not belong there. Oh yes, there was also some chicken in it. On the menu it is listed for €16.50. The lunch was €27.00 pp. So the small glass of soup goes over the counter for €10.50. Ridiculous. Then when we got home we looked at the bill, and of course... we had specifically ordered the rioja for €7.20 per glass; the one for €10.- is on the bill. Oh well, you don't go back from Arnhem, but we don't go there anymore either.

This place has a really beautiful interior and you would think: wow finally a nice place near Bloemendaal/Zandvoort! The service was not great. Laconically responding to normal questions, especially when it took a while. We sat down and had to wait 20 minutes before someone came to take our drink order. We got the starter without a drink - we had to ask for that. Then the waiter mumbled something silly after that. Plates and glasses were not cleared in between. We waited 2 hours after the starter for a pizza, a steak and a salad. We had a different waiter each time so when paying I indicated that not everything had been to our liking. That waiter was very nice. We got a discount of two bottles of water: 15 euros in total. This place is so beautiful! If they can sort this out it is a 10 as far as I'm concerned.

With four or five staff members and 10 tables occupied outside, each with an average of three guests, it's unacceptable that after receiving the menus, nothing happens for over fifteen minutes. One of the employees was enjoying the sea view, two others were chatting at the desk, and customers were waiting. Finally, I paid for the drinks and had fries on the boulevard.

Been here before. I can summarize Republiek in 2 words: missed opportunity. - Interior is very nice. Looks luxurious for a beach bar, seats are comfortable. - Public is a mix of Joe-Fat-Above-Moderate, German tourists and the rest. It all mixes well in terms of atmosphere. - Food is a bit mediocre. Pizza and hamburger are fine. The rest is a bit meager in portions and expensive for what you get. The desserts are just bad. Thick chocolate mousse after comfort food just doesn't fit. - The service is downright bad. You almost have to hang out a flag to get attention and many are also barely trained in catering skills. The service looks very young, so the owner could invest some training for better service.

Waited half an hour to order, waited almost 20 minutes, only to receive half the order. Poor service. After asking again, still hadn't received it, and even after asking a third time, it still hadn't arrived. Monday afternoon, 20 degrees Celsius, quiet on the beach—how could that be?

Food is fine but overpriced and service is bad

Last week I went to this place with some friends. It looks quite good, the atmosphere was nice, so we immediately ordered a bottle of wine. Some confusion at first as it was thought we wanted two, but I clearly said we were just going to stick with one. That seemed settled. A little later we decided to order twenty oysters. Well, when they arrived we already saw that they were small, but hey, that's possible. Until I ate the first one. Sand in it. Really gross, but I still swallowed it. The second oyster was even worse, it was full of sand and had a pebble in it. I literally spit it out. And I normally really love oysters, so that says something. And I wasn't the only one, two friends had the exact same thing. Then we sat outside on the terrace, smoked a cigarette, I was on the phone for a while in a normal tone, nothing crazy. That waiter comes up to me and suddenly tells me to speak softer, with such an arrogant attitude that I really thought, what does this mean? So I tell him, I'm just on the phone. I get that look back, that kind of attitude, really... and he spoke to me in such a know-it-all, arrogant way that I didn't feel welcome at all. That whole attitude of his, as if he felt better than everyone else, really hit everything. (The terrace was not busy at all and no one seemed bothered by my 'loud tone') Then some awkward things with other colleagues, so I said to my friends, I'm done with this place, I'll pay. Paid, out of there. And it wasn't until we were on the bus that I saw on the receipt that the second bottle of wine had actually expired, even though I had actually indicated this twice. My mistake for not checking it sooner, but still bizarre. There were five of us, and we paid 160 euros for two bottles of wine, twenty oysters, two burgers. Of which we didn't even want one bottle of wine and half of the oysters were inedible. Afterwards I didn't even think it was worth going back for my money, because this is a really worthless tent. I normally never write reviews, but this tent deserves this review with all sincerity. Bad service, poor quality, and an atmosphere where you don't feel welcome at all. I will never come back here again, nor do I recommend it to anyone.

Republike is a beautifully designed beach restaurant blending minimalism and brutalist architecture with a surprisingly warm and inviting atmosphere. The space feels curated yet relaxed, making it a standout along the coast. The ambience features striking interiors, raw materials, and clean lines, all balanced with a sense of comfort. It is usually packed, so expect a 30+ minute wait if you don’t have a reservation. The menu is well balanced and fairly priced, offering quality dishes throughout. It is also dog friendly, which is a big plus. Located about a 25 minute scenic walk from the train station, it is also easily accessible by car, with plenty of nearby parking and EV chargers. Highly recommended. Just be sure to book ahead.

One of the most stylish places I've ever been. The decor is top-notch: minimalist, natural materials, cozy, and tasteful. The sea view is simply stunning—especially at sunset. The staff is very polite and unobtrusive, service is fast, and everything runs smoothly. The food is delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. Perfect for a romantic evening or just relaxing with friends. The atmosphere is relaxing, and I want to come back again.

We had such a wonderful time! The food was delicious, the terrace was lovely, and the service was incredibly kind and attentive. Our hostess, Lisanne, was exceptional and exceptional, the kindest thing you don't often encounter. Congratulations and thanks! We'll be back soon!

At the beginning, we were shuttled from waiter to waiter to get a seat, waited an hour for the menu, and half an hour for the drinks. But the beer tasted good.

After a previous positive experience in the evening, I came here for a late breakfast/lunch. At 11:40 it was no longer possible to order breakfast and at 12:00 the other menu arrived, the service and communication about this were not friendly. We are very easy eaters, but in our opinion the dishes on the menu were not suitable/extensive enough for daytime food but for evening meals. Missed opportunity. That's why we unfortunately decided to have lunch somewhere else at a restaurant further away. After coffee we indicated that we were going to continue and were unfriendly asked if we wanted to pay. Unfortunately, not a positive experience in terms of food and service, so we would not return anytime soon.

A beautiful restaurant, lounge, beach pavilion, or whatever you want to call it. It's tastefully decorated, with comfortable sofas. I can't comment on the food, as we didn't eat there. It looks nice and clean. The service is correct and polite. Not cheap. It's bizarre, however, that Coca-Cola/soft drinks are more expensive than many coffee products. The open kitchen is something I personally enjoy seeing. And there were some beautiful Verder products. If it's good, you can also enjoy the outdoors.

Then my fish came back with no knife so once again as there was no service available I grabbed the remaining knife from the table next to me. Then a waiter proceed to come over to the table and tell me off for being rude by taking the cutlery. Rather than asking me if I need assistance or apologising. One of the worst dining experiences I ever had. Was even more disappointing as it was an anniversary gift for my parents.

Then my fish came back with no knife so once again as there was no service available I grabbed the remaining knife from the table next to me. Then a waiter proceed to come over to the table and tell me off for being rude by taking the cutlery. Rather than asking me if I need assistance or apologising. One of the worst dining experiences I ever had. Was even more disappointing as it was an anniversary gift for my parents.

One of my favorite spots for lunch in summer—great food and a lovely atmosphere. The service is always a bit off, but I get it—it’s not easy to find good hospitality staff in the Netherlands. It’s a well-known issue.

That's perfectly fine, nice, and delicious, but I paid €5.60 for a flat white with oat milk. €5.20 for a flat white, and a surcharge of 0.40 for oat milk. Where does that price come from? No coffee should cost more than €4. So I just wanted to point that out here. That price could definitely come down a bit.

We weren't served and left after 20 minutes. It smelled strongly of old grease inside. Very nice interior, with a view of the beach and sea.

Brilliant place. Child friendly and friendly overall , beautiful views as well. Food is great( fresh ! ) and the mocktail was also a treat.

Yes, De Republiek is by far the most beautiful beach bar. I'd say Paviljoen, because it's super stylish. On this first spring day that you could sit outside for dinner, the terrace is filling up. The service remains excellent. The staff is attentive and cheerful despite the crowds. We had to wait an hour for the food, but that's understandable. Everything is delicious, but not everything is warm. With a few appetizers and two desserts, I found it quite pricey. This was also due to the bottle of wine, which doesn't come under 40 euros.

A beautiful, stylish restaurant right on the beach. Attentive service. The prices for the food and drinks are a bit high considering the quality, but you're paying for the direct sea view.

Long waiting times, poor service

Mooi ingericht.. maar dan… bediening is niet te herkennen, dragen hun eigen ( sjofele) kleding. Host is afwezig, zit geen logica in. De lunchkaart heeft geen broodjes, enkel hoogstandjes uit de keuken. Prijs en kwaliteit niet in verhouding. We waren €100 verder voor 2 gerechten met 2 drankjes pp. Prima, maar zorg ervoor dat service en porties kloppen.
