My wife and I arrived at 4:20 PM and wanted to order a hot meal. The staff had told us the kitchen wouldn't open until 5:00 PM. We then wanted to order lunch, and the waitress returned to say we could still have the hot meal, but that it would take a little longer. We were perfectly happy with that, and sitting at the same table with my sweet, beautiful wife was no hardship at all. xxx The fish we ordered arrived fairly quickly. She even got an extra piece for the wait. What incredible hospitality! The owner, who has been in the restaurant business for 38 years, even stopped by. What a wonderfully hospitable place this is! GUARANTEE!!!!

Delicious food and friendly staff.

We'd been waiting for an hour in a quiet, freezing restaurant when we finally asked where our food was. We heard it was coming. However, the next order went to the neighbors, not to us. Then a waiter came and said, "We forgot. Do you have a minute?" No way. We had an appointment, so we didn't have time. We were allowed to leave without having to pay for our drinks. Wow. We're NEVER coming back here again. That's a mess.

Mulled wine is back on the menu (Oct/Nov). Lovely heated terrace!

The food is delicious. They have homemade apple pie, which is definitely recommended.

We were out for an early Sunday stroll through the city, and everything was still closed. The owner of Velius was setting up the patio, and we asked if we could get a coffee. Actually, the place was still closed, but we were allowed to sit outside and were offered a cup of coffee and a cookie. Super friendly!! 😊

Restaurant in a beautiful location. With an extensive lunch menu. The goat cheese sandwich was perfect, the singing fish was also not bad. Downside the toilets are upstairs, you can go to the neighbors if necessary.

Rarely eaten such a disgusting hamburger. I asked without onion, and the onion rings were thrown on the satay of my partner, bizarre. Nasty blob of tomato sauce on burger, burger overcooked, bacon not cooked and cheese looked like a leather sole. Fries had a huge load of salt, just like the satay. Service grumpy. Not recommended, you won't see us here again.

Unexpectedly we went to lunch at Velius. Very tasty, cozy and eaten with some space (at some other places you often just don't sit on someone else's lap).

I ate the singing fish salad and it had little taste, no nice dressing and the smoked salmon was of inferior quality, but you can sit on the terrace.

If you order chicken satay in the morning at 10:30 am and ask if the salad can be served separately, you will be laughed at by the chef (kitchen). Then when you go to pay because you are no longer comfortable because you are being laughed at, you are told from the kitchen that he thinks it is ridiculous that we no longer feel comfortable staying. I have never experienced this before and I will never come here again. Service was fine. Management apologized several times and the chef was indescribable.

Great spot for a quick lunch in the center of Hoorn, but the chairs are a bit hard... the carpaccio sandwich was very dry. The sandwich was very tasty, the service was friendly enough.

If you ask what happens when you have to go to the toilet, you get the answer: "If you get a fine, it is for yourself." What a service! These people really don't understand it at all!!! No chance. The service was adequate but distant. The food was of reasonable quality but substandard in quantity. Admittedly I had chosen a cheap dish (14.50) but you don't even get a McDonalds menu for that. The location of the terrace on a busy street makes it unpleasant with the constant passing of crackling cars and mopeds of fellow citizens.

Eating on King's Day is quite difficult without a reservation, but luckily the doors of Velius were open and there was a table available for 4 people. The food itself was quite tasty, but unfortunately the prices are way too high. Cafeteria plate service chicken skewer 21 euros and a mini pan with a tiny beef stew 22 euros. However, it is really too expensive for what is offered. By the way, service is smooth and nice. Owner René is also nice, but he should evaluate his prices.

Do not enter if you have a dog. I specifically asked if I could come in with my dog ​​and was told yes. The owner very rudely invited me to take the dog out because he barked when a person approached him (the dog was sitting calmly in a corner of the restaurant and in silence). I was at lunch with my 10 year old daughter and 4 year old son and I had to leave them inside to eat alone!! while I waited outside with the dog! Not even the decency to bring me lunch to the table (outside!) or to invite me in since the restaurant was empty. If I had known about it before, I wouldn't have gone in! Conclusion: terrible service, food not worth evaluating because I couldn't eat the lunch I paid for. I feel sorry for the waitresses, but in any case they could have told me when I asked that I couldn't come in with the dog and I would have avoided spending €40 for a lunch that was never finished and separated from my children. They have a lot to learn.

Heerlijke high tea gehad vanmiddag.

Qua klantvriendelijkheid ben ik niet heel tevreden, het aanbod van eten en drinken wel. Ik kwam er voor het eerst en liep naar binnen met de kinderwagen. Er stonden 3 medewerkers voor de deur te kijken hoe ik aan het stoeien was om de wagen binnen te krijgen inclusief zwangere bolle buik. Eenmaal binnen was er weinig ruimte om bij mijn tafel te komen. Ik heb mijn dochter eerst los gemaakt, wat stoelen weggehaald en de wagen half opgetild om tussen de andere tafels en stoelen te kunnen. Voelde als een workout maar enige hulp was fijn geweest. Is een redelijk krap restaurant. Omdat mijn dochter geen varkensvlees mag, wilde ik weten of er ook eventueel een kipfrikandel was, dat was er niet maar de medewerker gaf aan dat de frikandel van paardenvlees is. Paardenvlees? Hij wist het bijna 100% zeker zei hij weer. Ik heb toch maar wat anders besteld voor mijn dochter. Ik had trek in een uitsmijter en vroeg of het mogelijk was om hem echt goed doorgebakken te krijgen omdat ik als zwangere geen rauwe ei mag, de medewerker zei dat het geen probleem was en schreef het erbij. Toen mijn uitsmijter aankwam, zag het er op het eerste oog heerlijk uit. Helaas niet doorgebakken en na 1x snijden verspreidde het eigeel zich langzaam over mijn bord. Alle medewerkers waren druk toen ik hun aandacht probeerden te krijgen. Ik ben toen zelf even naar de bar gelopen en heb uitgelegd dat ik had gevraagd om een doorgebakken uitsmijter. Ik kreeg een excuus en niet later werd er een nieuwe gebracht. Deze was perfect en smaakte ook erg lekker. Of ik nog een keer ga? Ik weet het niet, heel misschien als ik niet zwanger ben en zonder kinderwagen.

Lekker gegeten bij Velius, de keuze viel op de signature dish: het Medicijn van Velius met pastrami en zuurkool. De pastrami is even aangebakken wat voor meer smaak zorgt. Lekker brood ook. De hele ambiance in Velius matcht niet echt met de kaart, het was ook wat fris waar wij zaten (boven).

Vriendelijk en fijne ontvangst heerlijk vroege vogelontbijt voor een klein prijsje. Cappuccino wat minder, erg kruidige smaak? Ik ben een fan van Velius, doch eerste paasdag daar een high tea gedaan. En ontvangst zeer goed en vriendelijk. Prosecco en daarna de eerste gang? We kregen broodje zalm, kip en brie, maar dit waren geen sandwiches. Gewoon een normaal broodje dubbel. Nou ze waren evengoed heerlijk, maar ik was eigenlijk al vol. Daarna gang twee ook weer erg veel, o.a. Soepje, saucijzenbroodje, een panini tosti, een kwart omelet, en een broodje ragout? Dit kregen we dan ook niet op, en dit ook gezegd. Daarna gang drie met donuts, slagroomsoesjes, brownie, chocoladecake en nog meer, allemaal wel lekker maar enorm veel en in mijn gevoel niet echt een high tea. De goede zorgen maken altijd veel goed, maar high tea maar niet meer.

Als Belg, en ondertussen 9 jaar een habitue in het mooie Hoorn, blijft dit mijn geliefde brasserie waar ik telkenmale naar uitzie om te lunchen. Vriendelijk, lekker en zo super gezellig. Volgende week zijn we er terug !

Prima om even te lunchen, gewoon goed en niet duur,leuke meiden in de bediening.Aardige eigenaar die de boel in de gaten houdt.

Als gast word je meteen gezien en begroet! Dat is gastheerschap, dikke pluim!

Voor een keer prima, debk niet yes daar ga iknog een keer eten. Cappucino is ver onder maat.

Wir haben hier ein leckeres Geburtstagsessen eingenommen ohne Anmeldung. Das Personal sehr, sehr freundlich und antwortete auch schnell gestellte Fragen. Sehr leckeres Essen. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder. Unbedingt für ein Essen empfehlenswert. Also auf geht's und guten Appetit.

Vandaag heerlijk gedineerd. Voorgerecht carpaccio, die was super. Toen 2 sliptongetjes met friet en sla. Super. Gevolgd door een heerlijk nagerechtje, kortom, zeer aan te bevelen. Complimenten aan de kok en het vriendelijke personeel. Top!

Weer eens neergestreken op het terras van Velius . Snelle service, fijn. De gevraagde Doppio was smakelijk en het glaasje water kwam ook mee, dat zie je niet overal. Het koekje is met Veliusnaam en verpakt, is goed overna gedacht. De eigenaar kwam zelf een vervolgdrankje vragen, en stelde netjes een vervolgvraag voor een citroentje in mijn prikwater. Ook dat is hoe het moet. En ook de bestelde uitsmijter Carpaccio was zeer smakelijk. Goed donker brood, lekkere pesto, en vers vlees, romige en iets zuurfrisse truffelmayonaise. Beter dan menig andere lunchlocatie in Hoorn. Als ik dan een minpunt mag geven is toch, dat er op dit terras gerookt mag worden. Ok zou zeggen op naar een rookvrije toekomst.. Zit en eet veel lekkerder.

Goed terras en lunch opties. De etaliere met verschillende broodjes is zeker een aanrader.

Een heel goed restaurant wat ik iedereen kan aanbevelen ,vlotte en correcte bediening .prijs kwaliteit prima ,veel aandacht aan de salade en saus zowel vis als vlees gerechten smaakvol ,gezellige uitstraling.
