The food was very mediocre, the satay was very dry and the peanut sauce was thick and tasteless, the sweet and sour was dry and tasteless, a pity it used to be a great place

Our group had chosen De Beren restaurant. We've been ordering from De Beren for years. So... I was really curious about the food at the restaurant. With a reservation, we got a beautiful window seat overlooking the Hollandsche IJssel River. There's also a lovely terrace, but it was a bit too chilly in the evening. A few of our group had ordered a three-course menu and were given a starter of their choice. Drinks were served promptly. The main course also arrived promptly—not too quickly, but not too long either. The service was impeccable and very friendly! I couldn't resist ordering my favorite dish: pork satay with peanut sauce! And... it tasted just as good at the restaurant: delicious! By the way, we immediately ordered mayonnaise, and it arrived within a few minutes! A few of us had the Dame Blanche dessert. The special thing about this one is the whipped cream: it's really, really fresh!!!

Cozy, good food and drinks, friendly staff, easy to reach and ample parking

The food was excellent, delicious. Friendly and helpful staff. It's worth eating there once, and we'll definitely be back. We barely had a parking spot, but it's also easily accessible by bike (my partner isn't allowed to cycle yet after the fall, so we took the car). There's a playground next to the restaurant, so it's perfect for kids.

Very dirty terrace. A lot of litter on the ground that has been there for days, weeks or even months. All furniture 'decorated' with spider webs. No cushions in the chairs. Never seen such an unkempt and dirty mess before. Never again!!!

Old review removed, we only had a good experience with the boy who served us Sasha he did his best. The boy who I think played manager was a very impersonal and unfriendly person. When I asked after 15 minutes can we order drinks he said yes it will come soon, then luckily Sasha came and I really asked his name because he did everything to serve us as well as possible we were with 7 people thanks boy you deserve the HONOR.

Once again we enjoyed a delicious 3-course dinner in our favourite and cosy restaurant in Capelle aan den IJssel.

Nice restaurant, great food and decent portions. Personally I think the bears have become quite expensive. Little parking space in front of the door but more than enough within walking distance. We did not have a reservation and were put on the stools. (Young) Lady in the service noticed that I was pregnant and that is why we were still assigned a table. Very attentive! Service could have been better, our glasses were empty the entire evening.

Old positive review unfortunately had to be removed. The quality of the service has gone down considerably in the last 12 months. Staff who argue with you about the place you can choose yourself, which is then not desired. If you indicate that you would like to have a view of the playground because of the children, they start a discussion about taking a seat in a place without a view of the children. This while the terrace is 25% full... Adjustments to the menu and its quality unfortunately also leave much to be desired. Unfortunately, this is not an incident, which makes us go from a very positive to a negative review. Perhaps there has been a change of management staff, which has not benefited the management. Chances are slim that we will visit this restaurant again this year. Too bad...

Very tasty food and great service. A place to really come back to.

We had lunch. Reserved shortly beforehand with assistance dog. We were allowed to choose a spot ourselves. Water for the dog was given. Fried eggs and farmer's omelette were taken care of perfectly and quickly.

Yesterday afternoon my sister and I had a nice lunch at the bears. We ordered the pina goat cheese and pina tuna, the waitress indicated that there were no pinas, but that a ciabatta was served, which we did not find a problem. However, when the plates were served, we received very sparsely topped ciabattas. The goat cheese sandwich had one slice of goat cheese, two small pieces of bacon and the dates were missing. The tuna sandwich was also sparsely topped with the tuna salad, had 2 halved cherry tomatoes, 4 pieces of red onion and one half-boiled egg. We did not accept this, after all, you pay 11 euros for this sandwich! The people at the table next to us also agreed with us. When we finally got the attention of a waitress and explained the complaint, she wanted to start a discussion at first, but took the plates back to the kitchen. The plates were brought again and with the goat cheese sandwich everything had been straightened and the dates had been added and with the tuna salad sandwich a few half eggs had been added. The man (I think it was the manager) said that there was always only one half egg with the tuna sandwich. Unbelievable that the man also wanted to start a discussion when a customer says they are dissatisfied. Then I would have apologized as a restaurant and then topped the sandwiches extra well. No more lunch for us at the bears!! The lady where we paid did react politely and would pass on the complaint, she found it very annoying.

Last Friday my colleague and I went to dinner at De Beren in Utrecht. We were seated close to the bar, but the music was set just right. We could hear each other without having to shout, which made the dinner very relaxed.

The food was good enough but the whole evening was spoiled by the utterly useless sevice. Every part of the meal was delayed from welcome drinks to getting the bill, for no apparent reason (it wasn't busy and there was plenty of staff buzzing around). Very disappointed at what could and should have been a celebratory family evening.

This afternoon we decided to go to the bears on Zandrak again because of the great terrace... Well, let's leave that "great" out of it. Tables were dirty, bird droppings on various tables, chairs, parasols, wind screens etc. under the cobwebs, no plants on the table only a salt and pepper shaker and even that was not neat... Uninterested staff. Still asked if the table could be cleaned, which was done but with an irritated face. Ordered 2 drinks that were brought (we had looked at the lunch menu in the meantime) and did not ask if we had made a choice, paid and decided to leave without lunch because I did not want to eat in that mess. Sorry but no more bears on Zandrak for me.

Nice location with indoor and outdoor play area for children. Too bad the food didn't come at the same time and took quite a long time despite it being quite quiet. It was Wednesday evening and there weren't many customers. Fortunately the food was good. Wide choice.

Been here more often and was always fine however yesterday.. It is a world of difference if you come in with a deal we had a lunch via social deal total cost 50 euros for 4 people lunch excluding drinks. You then get a separate choice card there is nothing wrong with that that is also clearly stated. However I wanted the club sandwich with chicken as a side dish there was a choice of fries, nachos etc.. it was impossible according to the waitress with extremely long turquoise nails which according to the HACCP is not even allowed to get a portion of fries even though this was stated on the menu. Very hopeless when clarifying she waved it to the kitchen and that she was not responsible for this. Lettuce that is normally prepared as a garnish with a little dressing etc was thrown on the plate with brown edges. The tomato soup was cold. And as an option for the other 2 vegetarian guests the meatballs were fished out. No pepper and salt on the table no mustard served with the croquettes they are small things. But incredibly annoying now I know that as a chef I see this faster but these are points of attention. The worst thing I find is selling no that is the standard rule in the catering law to the guest. Then offer an alternative. And make sure it is not on the menu. You notice nowadays it is important to take cheaper forces than forces with knowledge of sin! Because the location is beautiful on the water. Oh and the big hit was the guests next to us who got a club sandwich yes you guessed it with fries! I will not return here and I do not recommend it either. Deal or no deal it has to be good and certainly the rules of the HACCP are important!

A good selection of food on the menu with decent prices. A plus is the fact that there’s a playground adjacent to the restaurant so your kids can entertain themselves while you eat!

Beautiful location on the water. Good service and nice ambiance. Even though the promotion had ended, I still received the children's menu for free. Wasn't necessary but very much appreciated.

Food okay, portions quite small (both earlier when we came for dinner, and now for drinks). Now the service was also very slow, even though it was not very busy.

Arrived around 5pm. Free parking in front of the door. Not busy, very nice. Opted for the 3-course menu. Tomato soup was ok, but I don't think it was made in-house. Rib fingers were nice and tender but a lot of sauce. After a long wait, the main course. The burger on the other hand was bone dry, next to the fries a tasteless small bowl of salad. No fries sauce. Chicken satay was tasteless despite the peanut sauce. My daughter had chosen Kidsburger which she unfortunately found too salty. No fries sauce there either but apple sauce. For dessert, opted for dame blanche and creme brulee. Creme brulee very tasty. Dame blanche only whipped cream but a large bowl of chocolate sauce. Waiting time between starter and main course is +45 minutes. It couldn't have been because of the crowds. Payment can be made in cash or by debit/credit card. Staff stares ahead a lot, difficult to make eye contact. Rarely comes to tables to ask if drinks can be poured. Nice place for parents and children. Play facilities for children inside and outside. Keep in mind that you will be sitting there for a long time. A quick bite is not possible.

Today we were in Capelle aan de IJssel at De Beren, we were very kindly helped by Joelle and Sar, nothing was too much for them when we asked something. We had a very pleasant experience, the service was top notch. Joelle and Sar were able to excel through the collaboration with the chefs and bar staff. Excellent cooperation so that the controls were perfectly coordinated. 3 course menu was super tasty. Great atmosphere. We will definitely come back. This is highly recommended. Robby and Sandra

I just ate the most fresh and delicious ceaser salad! It already had so much flavor that I didn't need any additional seasoning. I enjoyed this with a nice cup of mint tea. Very friendly staff (Daynah, Jordi & Gio) who make you feel very comfortable and it gives off a warm atmosphere!

Not worth repeating! Food was really nasty even asked for and got my money back. Finding a reservation by first name also seems difficult to me, a bit of a stupid response...

Ate several times at the Beren Capelle. Overall service is good and food very tasty. Only a small downside, when it is busy it takes a long time before the service gets to you. I consider this a negative. The rest of the staff is always friendly. One other negative point; a children's menu is not available with a small schnitzel, which many restaurants do have. Because of this we order "only an empty plate" for our daughter and this is what prevents us from going to the Beren more often.

I have been enjoying lunch and dinner here for years. Lately I have noticed that the music is very loud. Not really a nice playlist if you come for a bite to eat. Therefore 4 stars.

Unfortunately the dishes were served lukewarm, when we let us know the answer was, Well, that is not the intention, no further action. Delicious and BEREN cozy! The spareribs are so tasty and tender, this used to be less, but now,...DELICIOUS! Tried the "vegan hair salon" for the first time. And I'm really a meat eater, but the vegan hair salon (ordered by and for my wife) is really DELICIOUS! I really didn't expect this. Compliments for this to De Beren! The service is always super nice and friendly. They want to help make decisions and provide input. However, better attention could be paid to the drinks. You often have to wave to the waiter to indicate that you want something to drink. But in short, this restaurant is a gem! Also in terms of interior and location on the IJssel. Especially with play equipment both inside and outside!

Nice restaurant with friendly staff and tasty food. The only downside was that we had to wait a really long time for our food. There was more than an hour between the starter and main course.

Food is standard bear food Eating unlimited sparribs is only the sparribs you get, no more extras unless you pay extra for your cup of fries, let's say 12 to 14 fries per bowl of mayonnaise, also separately, not to mention a bowl of lettuce, a full tablespoon or 2 I think, then it's gone. Nice place, food was tasty again, but I was shocked by how small the piece of meat was.

We had a not so tasty piece of meat and the waitress responded very well to it, took it away and after consultation they had a new piece made. Then it was really a super good piece of meat with all the wishes. What sweet and friendly staff, very good service and despite it being annoying for everyone, it was resolved without any problems. Very happy with this wonderful evening.

The service and decor were nice and cozy, but the food was really dramatic 😅. And that says a lot for me because I'm not a critical eater. I had a 3 course menu. Driest and most tasteless burger ever... judge for yourself based on the photo.

Incomprehensible where all those negative reviews come from?! We had a very nice evening. Delicious food, friendly staff and fast service. The food was nice and hot, the fries were not soggy, it didn't take long for the order to be taken or before it was served, the waiter came to ask if everything was to your liking and if you wanted something to drink when it was finished. Pleasant location and if the parking lot in front of the door is full, you can also park for free nearby. Worth repeating.

Been here for high tea. To start positively, the staff was very friendly and that is certainly not the fault. But I'll never go to the bears again. For €30 you get a cheese sandwich with a plastic edge, some arugula and 1 mini tomato Some sweets from the freezer with a chocolate sauce from a bottle. If I had gone to Lidl and gotten frozen stuff I would have had the same thing for a quarter of the price.

3 course menu. Ordered pork tenderloin medium rare and was served this very small pork tenderloin, well done. When we said something about this, nothing was done with it because too much of it had been eaten. The fact that this was not the case and that the pork tenderloin was very small was ignored. Sate and fries were cold. Simply received bad and cold food and if you complain, nothing is done. Bad thing.

Went here with the children on Saturday evening for a four-course dinner. The staff is friendly and attentive and the decoration is nice. However, the chairs and tables are not completely clean and the tables are close together. The starter and intermediate course was very good, portions could be smaller in our opinion. The pork tenderloin satay was very salty and overloaded with satay sauce. Too bad the fries weren't hot enough. Unfortunately, the ordered dessert, apple crumble, was completely gone, which was a big downer for us (we were really looking forward to this). All in all we had a pleasant evening and the food was reasonably good, but there are some areas for improvement.

Last Monday we had dinner with you for a birthday at 6:00 PM. What poor service was given. At first the staff kindly asked if anyone wanted something to drink, but that was it. The starter took a very long time, not everyone got their food at the same time. This took almost 15 minutes. They did not ask for drinks during dinner, the table was not cleared and empty glasses were left behind. Then came the main course, which took another 1 hour. Once again dishes were not served at the same time. I got my food at least 15 minutes later. The waitress asked if I had ordered Spicy chicken, I indicated that I had ordered tenderloin tips, it also seemed as if the waitress had tenderloin tips in her hand. I indicated that that was my order, the lady indicated that it was not tenderloin tips and she walked away. 5 minutes later she arrived with exactly the same plate, which ended up being the tenderloin dots. The fries that were served were ice cold, after reporting this to the waitresses we eventually got new ones. However, everyone had already finished their main course. During the main course no one came by for a round of drinks. Empty glasses were on the table, no one came to ask if everything was OK. After everyone had finished eating, no one came to the table to offer dessert or clear the table. After waiting so long we decided we didn't want dessert anymore. We decided to pay, but in the end, because we had not had dessert, 50 euros was deducted from the bill of more than 480 euros. Beforehand you think you are going to celebrate your 16th birthday by having a nice dinner together, but it is scandalous how we were treated that evening. I am not used to this at all from a De Beren restaurant. Definitely not recommended to eat here, what a shame! Never again Capelle for me

What a bad high tea. We first ordered coffee/cappuccino, before this arrived a teapot with hot water/cups etc. was placed for the high tea. Then came the coffee. When we wanted to start making the tea, it was of course not that hot anymore, so the tea became colored water. A complete large lunch sandwich with half of chicken with some sauce and fatty bacon Other half slice of "plastic" cheese (not real cheese) with some sauce. Instead of small sandwiches, for example? 4 pieces of churos with chocolate sauce from a bottle. Sweet mini petit haberdashery such as 2tompoesjes2 eclairs etc. all from the freezer (can be from Lidl or something! Service by lady was also not up to par. (bad day) rest of staff was friendly Wanting to pay wasn't easy either, because we didn't see anyone. Not because it was busy. There were 4 to 5 tables occupied. Then we walked to the cash register and paid. Maw Terrible for decent price. Not worth repeating

Nothing but praise for the friendly staff. The first portions of spare ribs that came to the table were undercooked. Ordered again later, they were cooked. Unfortunately, both of our apple crumble desserts were burnt. Too bad, I was invited. The food was substandard and therefore I paid the bill myself.

We had a delicious meal here last Tuesday evening and were helped by super friendly staff. The goat cheese croquettes were very tasty and the pork tenderloin satay was super tender and we finished with apple crumble and a Dame Blanc and coffee. It was highly recommended and even more fun because of the fun promotion.

When you just enter, there are 6 people jumping around you, but by the time you get to your desert you don't see anyone anymore and it takes the greatest effort to get something to drink or order a cup of coffee, as if you were being treated like that. want to get it out the door as quickly as possible... Wake up call Beren....drink is what you deserve!!! And service to the end earns a tip...not this!
