It was very cozy and child friendly

The tables were a bit close together, so I was sitting there enjoying someone else's conversations, which was a shame.

We received a friendly welcome. The service was prompt. We opted for the three-course menu. The food was delicious and plentiful. So we had a pleasant and successful evening.

Food: I was given sauce I was allergic to, even though I specified it. I was left without it because I have an allergy. Service: The waitresses were incredibly rude; I was just glared at and ignored. Atmosphere: The food wait was 48 minutes.

We had a delicious meal. The staff was warm and friendly, and kept a close eye on all the tables. There was a large group in the conservatory, but everyone was so well-seated that it didn't bother us at all. I recommend everyone to go to De Beren in Capelle aan den IJssel.

Beren Alexandrium was so much better!! We chose a three-course menu. The starter and dessert were excellent, but the main course, salmon with "seasonal vegetables," was inedible! Everyone tried a piece of my salmon, and we all thought it didn't taste like salmon; it was so dry. The seasonal vegetables that came with it were actually four small pieces of vegetables (one mushroom, one onion, one zucchini, and one bell pepper). Someone else chose the "crispy chicken," which wasn't crispy at all. My comments about it went unanswered. A few weeks ago, we chose the exact same menu at Rotterdam Alexandrium, and there I got a really full plate of vegetables and a delicious piece of salmon, and the crispy chicken was truly crispy. Unfortunately, it was our last time here.

Great restaurant. My daughter loves playing in the climbing area. As a parent, you can enjoy a meal without having to entertain the kids.

It was fine, but there just wasn't much love in the food. For example: I had the spicy breaded chicken for my main course, and the large chunks of onion were still completely raw. And there were more things like that. I think the garlic shrimp were sprinkled with a pinch of garlic powder and were therefore very bland. Has it really gotten so bad that a clove of garlic has become too expensive? Of course, the price range is lower. However, if money is the issue, I'd rather eat out less often. The wait staff is friendly and helpful; they saved the evening.

The price-quality ratio is off; the 28-euro salmon main course was supposed to be served with seasonal vegetables. It turned out to be an onion cut into three pieces. When asked, the waitress admitted it was indeed a small amount and provided extra vegetables free of charge. These were four bell peppers, a small mushroom, and another three pieces of onion.

It was delicious and cozy, the latter thanks to the round table. The building is beautifully situated on the water, and the drive there was special, along a small dike.

I have been to the Bears several times

We went out for dinner with the family and chose De Beren in Capelle, a nice restaurant for its atmosphere, but the food could use some improvement. They served a raw schnitzel, and the dessert (dame blanche) took 10 minutes to prepare because the crème brûlée still needed to be made. You guessed it, the ice cream was half-melted. We would also like to thank Reinier for the excellent service he provided!

Great service, very attentive and knowledgeable. The pork tenderloin was awesome as satay and with pepper sauce. They're forgiven for the fact that the artisan fries were actually just factory fries. Next time I'll go for lunch. By the way, I'll definitely just eat the appetizers this time because they're way too good. A generous tip, of course.

Five of us came for dinner. The service was so bad, the waitress wasn't friendly and rude; it was clear they didn't have the energy to work. It's a shame we won't be coming back. The fries we received with our meal were so few that you could count how many you'd received.

Yesterday we ate at De Beren. Beautiful location on the IJssel River and a wonderful restaurant. We had made a reservation and had a lovely spot by the window. Drinks arrived quickly, ordering went smoothly, and after 10 minutes everyone had their starter. The main course was for four people, and two of us had already finished their pork tenderloin. Twelve minutes later, our chicken satay arrived, and the others had cold pork tenderloin. The fries didn't arrive after we asked three times, but the food was almost gone, and then the fries arrived, which were a bit unfresh. We had three desserts, one of whom wanted coffee, but the coffee never arrived, and the desserts were gone before the coffee arrived. After finishing everything, I wanted another coffee, but the coffee beans still had to be shipped from India. I had to wait 40 minutes for my coffee. The service is not smooth and could be much, much better. Regards, Tim

We enjoyed the location (view of the IJssel with many boats sailing by). We were also very pleased with your young, friendly and attentive staff. The food was delicious for the price we paid, but we found little choice in the menu. A tip might be to expand the dishes on the menu, especially the fish dishes are limited.

We ate here today, Saturday, August 9, 2025. Upon arrival, we asked if we could pay with the restaurant gift card, which was no problem. However, the card wasn't accepted, and the staff wasn't willing to help. The manager or supervisor wasn't present. I ended up paying the full amount, naturally without a tip. And I can only say, beware to anyone who dines at this restaurant: they don't think anything of you. No service, no solutions, and no helpful suggestions.

The food was excellent, delicious. Friendly and helpful staff. It's worth eating there once, and we'll definitely be back. We barely had a parking spot, but it's also easily accessible by bike (my partner isn't allowed to cycle yet after the fall, so we took the car). There's a playground next to the restaurant, so it's perfect for kids.

Our group had chosen De Beren restaurant. We've been ordering from De Beren for years. So... I was really curious about the food at the restaurant. With a reservation, we got a beautiful window seat overlooking the Hollandsche IJssel River. There's also a lovely terrace, but it was a bit too chilly in the evening. A few of our group had ordered a three-course menu and were given a starter of their choice. Drinks were served promptly. The main course also arrived promptly—not too quickly, but not too long either. The service was impeccable and very friendly! I couldn't resist ordering my favorite dish: pork satay with peanut sauce! And... it tasted just as good at the restaurant: delicious! By the way, we immediately ordered mayonnaise, and it arrived within a few minutes! A few of us had the Dame Blanche dessert. The special thing about this one is the whipped cream: it's really, really fresh!!!

Very dirty terrace. A lot of litter on the ground that has been there for days, weeks or even months. All furniture 'decorated' with spider webs. No cushions in the chairs. Never seen such an unkempt and dirty mess before. Never again!!!

Old review removed, we only had a good experience with the boy who served us Sasha he did his best. The boy who I think played manager was a very impersonal and unfriendly person. When I asked after 15 minutes can we order drinks he said yes it will come soon, then luckily Sasha came and I really asked his name because he did everything to serve us as well as possible we were with 7 people thanks boy you deserve the HONOR.

Nice restaurant, great food and decent portions. Personally I think the bears have become quite expensive. Little parking space in front of the door but more than enough within walking distance. We did not have a reservation and were put on the stools. (Young) Lady in the service noticed that I was pregnant and that is why we were still assigned a table. Very attentive! Service could have been better, our glasses were empty the entire evening.

Old positive review unfortunately had to be removed. The quality of the service has gone down considerably in the last 12 months. Staff who argue with you about the place you can choose yourself, which is then not desired. If you indicate that you would like to have a view of the playground because of the children, they start a discussion about taking a seat in a place without a view of the children. This while the terrace is 25% full... Adjustments to the menu and its quality unfortunately also leave much to be desired. Unfortunately, this is not an incident, which makes us go from a very positive to a negative review. Perhaps there has been a change of management staff, which has not benefited the management. Chances are slim that we will visit this restaurant again this year. Too bad...

We had lunch. Reserved shortly beforehand with assistance dog. We were allowed to choose a spot ourselves. Water for the dog was given. Fried eggs and farmer's omelette were taken care of perfectly and quickly.

Yesterday afternoon my sister and I had a nice lunch at the bears. We ordered the pina goat cheese and pina tuna, the waitress indicated that there were no pinas, but that a ciabatta was served, which we did not find a problem. However, when the plates were served, we received very sparsely topped ciabattas. The goat cheese sandwich had one slice of goat cheese, two small pieces of bacon and the dates were missing. The tuna sandwich was also sparsely topped with the tuna salad, had 2 halved cherry tomatoes, 4 pieces of red onion and one half-boiled egg. We did not accept this, after all, you pay 11 euros for this sandwich! The people at the table next to us also agreed with us. When we finally got the attention of a waitress and explained the complaint, she wanted to start a discussion at first, but took the plates back to the kitchen. The plates were brought again and with the goat cheese sandwich everything had been straightened and the dates had been added and with the tuna salad sandwich a few half eggs had been added. The man (I think it was the manager) said that there was always only one half egg with the tuna sandwich. Unbelievable that the man also wanted to start a discussion when a customer says they are dissatisfied. Then I would have apologized as a restaurant and then topped the sandwiches extra well. No more lunch for us at the bears!! The lady where we paid did react politely and would pass on the complaint, she found it very annoying.

Last Friday my colleague and I went to dinner at De Beren in Utrecht. We were seated close to the bar, but the music was set just right. We could hear each other without having to shout, which made the dinner very relaxed.

The food was good enough but the whole evening was spoiled by the utterly useless sevice. Every part of the meal was delayed from welcome drinks to getting the bill, for no apparent reason (it wasn't busy and there was plenty of staff buzzing around). Very disappointed at what could and should have been a celebratory family evening.

This afternoon we decided to go to the bears on Zandrak again because of the great terrace... Well, let's leave that "great" out of it. Tables were dirty, bird droppings on various tables, chairs, parasols, wind screens etc. under the cobwebs, no plants on the table only a salt and pepper shaker and even that was not neat... Uninterested staff. Still asked if the table could be cleaned, which was done but with an irritated face. Ordered 2 drinks that were brought (we had looked at the lunch menu in the meantime) and did not ask if we had made a choice, paid and decided to leave without lunch because I did not want to eat in that mess. Sorry but no more bears on Zandrak for me.

Been here more often and was always fine however yesterday.. It is a world of difference if you come in with a deal we had a lunch via social deal total cost 50 euros for 4 people lunch excluding drinks. You then get a separate choice card there is nothing wrong with that that is also clearly stated. However I wanted the club sandwich with chicken as a side dish there was a choice of fries, nachos etc.. it was impossible according to the waitress with extremely long turquoise nails which according to the HACCP is not even allowed to get a portion of fries even though this was stated on the menu. Very hopeless when clarifying she waved it to the kitchen and that she was not responsible for this. Lettuce that is normally prepared as a garnish with a little dressing etc was thrown on the plate with brown edges. The tomato soup was cold. And as an option for the other 2 vegetarian guests the meatballs were fished out. No pepper and salt on the table no mustard served with the croquettes they are small things. But incredibly annoying now I know that as a chef I see this faster but these are points of attention. The worst thing I find is selling no that is the standard rule in the catering law to the guest. Then offer an alternative. And make sure it is not on the menu. You notice nowadays it is important to take cheaper forces than forces with knowledge of sin! Because the location is beautiful on the water. Oh and the big hit was the guests next to us who got a club sandwich yes you guessed it with fries! I will not return here and I do not recommend it either. Deal or no deal it has to be good and certainly the rules of the HACCP are important!

Food okay, portions quite small (both earlier when we came for dinner, and now for drinks). Now the service was also very slow, even though it was not very busy.

Arrived around 5pm. Free parking in front of the door. Not busy, very nice. Opted for the 3-course menu. Tomato soup was ok, but I don't think it was made in-house. Rib fingers were nice and tender but a lot of sauce. After a long wait, the main course. The burger on the other hand was bone dry, next to the fries a tasteless small bowl of salad. No fries sauce. Chicken satay was tasteless despite the peanut sauce. My daughter had chosen Kidsburger which she unfortunately found too salty. No fries sauce there either but apple sauce. For dessert, opted for dame blanche and creme brulee. Creme brulee very tasty. Dame blanche only whipped cream but a large bowl of chocolate sauce. Waiting time between starter and main course is +45 minutes. It couldn't have been because of the crowds. Payment can be made in cash or by debit/credit card. Staff stares ahead a lot, difficult to make eye contact. Rarely comes to tables to ask if drinks can be poured. Nice place for parents and children. Play facilities for children inside and outside. Keep in mind that you will be sitting there for a long time. A quick bite is not possible.

Today we were in Capelle aan de IJssel at De Beren, we were very kindly helped by Joelle and Sar, nothing was too much for them when we asked something. We had a very pleasant experience, the service was top notch. Joelle and Sar were able to excel through the collaboration with the chefs and bar staff. Excellent cooperation so that the controls were perfectly coordinated. 3 course menu was super tasty. Great atmosphere. We will definitely come back. This is highly recommended. Robby and Sandra

I just ate the most fresh and delicious ceaser salad! It already had so much flavor that I didn't need any additional seasoning. I enjoyed this with a nice cup of mint tea. Very friendly staff (Daynah, Jordi & Gio) who make you feel very comfortable and it gives off a warm atmosphere!
