Leerdam always decorates its restaurant for Christmas in a romantic and festive way. The food is delicious, and the staff is friendly. This was our third time dining there, and we'll definitely be back!

A lovely spot for a cozy meal in the winter or outdoors in the summer. In short, always good!

We had a wonderful lunch; the food was fantastic. The service was also very friendly. Beautiful location on the water; we sat upstairs. And it was already a cozy Christmas atmosphere.

Great place to eat, cozy decor, excellent food, friendly staff. Definitely go again. The only downside was the extra charge for certain fries and sauces with the salmon. Not a big deal, but it was presented as a choice, this or that, and then it turns out you have to pay extra for one. It's better to tell them something else, like "this is included" or "the other," but it's a few euros extra. It was mentioned in small letters on the menu afterward, but it still wasn't clear about the sauce choice for the salmon. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back soon.

Attempted to go for lunch. Were directed to a table upstairs. It was late and we were hungry so, not finding a food menu on the table, I went to fetch a couple from the bar area. As I did so, I was told by a young man that this was not allowed and that we had to wait for him to bring us a menu to our table. This was too astonishing to process first time and, thinking I must have misheard, I took a couple anyway and returned to the table. Some time later the young man returned and said, "It would have been nice if you had waited for me to bring a menu." Unbelievable. He didn't take our food order and in fact studiously ignored us thereafter. Seeing we weren 't going to get served - punishment for breaching our man's little rule - we left. It was also evident that although the place was nearly full, not a single table had any food on it the whole time we were there. We went down the river to the Glasblazerij and had a lovely meal with friendly service. You should do the same - avoid this place.

The music was way too loud. We definitely found that to be a drawback. Otherwise, the staff and food were excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. Excellent.

A truly cozy location. Especially if you're looking for a relaxed and delicious meal after a day at the Glass Museum/winding studio. Well, De Beren is the place to be!

It was our first time at De Beren Leerdam. A surprise, as it turned out. The welcome was friendly, as was the service. The dishes we chose made us want to return in the future. A pleasant experience, and a fantastic evening for us.

Went in for abit of lunch and was sat down upstairs. There was no menus so we went to the desk and took one. As we sat down a very rude waiter/waitress made a rude comment in a very passive aggressive tone about how we had to wait for them to bring it over to us. It took 20 mins for another waiter to come and let us order drinks and a further 20 for them to come(just for them to be tiny portioned drinks). We were then waiting for an entire hour for the waiter to come take our order. This rude waiter was deciding to be pathetic and serve other tables and blatantly ignored us! This was so incredibly rude that we decided to leave and go to the lovley restaurant in the glass factory opposite with lovley views of the river, where we had a lovley lunch! I strongly recommend you steer clear of this restaurant and its rude staff. I will not return.

A good location. With a standard selection, you know what you're getting. This bear is in a beautiful location. You might get lucky with parking, or you might have to park a bit further away. The service and food were excellent. And the food was delicious too. It was also pleasantly busy on Saturday. I'll definitely make a reservation for Saturday.

Never had such bad spareribs! We'll never be back, despite the beautiful location.

The food is excellent and the atmosphere is pleasant. Downside: the staff eats with you (bring your own food) and is more concerned with each other than with the guests. Tip: be careful with strong perfume, as it can disrupt your appetite.

Update 2025: We ate again after spontaneously deciding to eat out during the week. The guys who waited on our table were very friendly! The extra vegetables were very well prepared. And the meat was still good. It was very relaxing to be here. Update 2024: We went here for a birthday dinner. It was still quiet when we arrived at 6 p.m. Eating upstairs is the most enjoyable, with a view of the boats, city walls, and harbor. The spare ribs are still good, and the meat on the classic burger is delicious. The seasonal vegetable toppings are a bit pricey, but the flavor is very good. The berry mocktail is delicious. The desserts were also excellent, and you can choose how many scoops of ice cream you want. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was great. All in all, we had a pleasant dinner together. The price is a bit high, but it was worth it. The quality is much better than when I went to De Beren five years ago. And a nice idea: a three-course meal for 25 euros.

Five of us dined here. Four adults and one child. We sat on the terrace. Beautiful location. View of the harbor and the Linge River. Very nice. The food was good, as was the service. We will definitely be back. We come here at least two or three times a year, often with our children. Highly recommend this location.

I ordered coffee with apple pie and whipped cream for two people. Unfortunately, the whipped cream and coffee milk were missing. A shame. But it tasted fine without it. It had a lovely spot on the terrace by the water.

Het was er vrij druk op het terras maar er was nog een lange bank met tafels en stoelen vrij. De banken waren afgedekt met een hoes, mijn vroeg vroeg aan een serveerster of wij daar zouden kunnen gaan zitten, het was half schaduw en half zo'n. De serveerster zei vriendelijk, ik zal het even vragen of dat mogelijk is. De manager gaf een nors antwoord tegen de serveerster van, nee gaan wij niet doen straks komt er een bui en dan moeten we het weer onder stoppen. de serveerster was vriendelijk en kon er ook niets aan doen. Blijkbaar heeft haar norse baas de andere 18 personen van onze groep die nog op straat stonden de wachten niet gezien. Dan had ze misschien wel anders gereageerd.

We've eaten at many Beren's, but this is truly the worst yet. We had the club sandwich; the bread was very thin and small. Everything was just thrown on top instead of being properly topped. We also ordered fries, but they were very hard, as if they had been overcooked. We also had a Machioto latte, but it tasted very stale.

For lunch, I ordered shrimp croquettes, and my wife ordered meat croquettes. It's a shame, but they were those pre-chewed, factory-made croquettes, and the shrimp croquettes even came with mustard. Unfortunately, no cocktail sauce was available, which you could easily make yourself in two seconds. Not something I'll be ordering again.

We've been to this restaurant before, and this time we chose to dine upstairs. From there, you have a beautiful view of the river and harbor. We chose the three-course menu and some delicious drinks. The food was delicious, although my husband's pork tenderloin was a bit dry. The price-quality ratio and the quantity of food are good. The staff is friendly and helpful. Due to the restaurant's location, parking is limited. There is a paid parking lot near the shops. It's advisable to make a reservation (we did) because even on a Monday evening, they were quite full.

After a nice walk of 9 km along the charming Linge river, we arrived at the terrace of the Beren, with 7 people, hoping for some food and drinks. But a very unfriendly welcome by a rather rude young man forced us to make a speedy U-turn. We were welcomed much more friendly by Kijk aan de Linge, at a short distance.

A cozy restaurant in a beautiful location on the Linge River. The outdoor terrace had too many tables packed into a small space, making it very cluttered. We had all-you-can-eat spareribs, which were far too soft and very salty. We mentioned this to the staff, but the second portion wasn't much better. We actually found it inedible!

The food is fine. The service could use a lesson in hospitality. When my 7-year-old son commented that he'd like the pancake toppings on the side "because he's not quite an omnivore yet," I would have preferred a different comment from the staff than "terrible." Furthermore, the service is rather unattentive. They don't ask if anyone wants another drink, and the question of whether everything is to their liking is asked only when the plates are almost empty. I also received a drinking glass with lips on it from the previous owner. I could eat a delicious ribeye at home. The service makes me happy to come back next time and to pay over €100 for it. That's not the case this time.

We had high tea for 10 people. The food was delicious and varied. However, for a high tea, there wasn't much tea. They only brought two small teapots each, each holding two glasses, and they weren't refilled often. This is far too little for 10 people. They also hadn't informed us in advance that we would be seated upstairs. The website states the venue is wheelchair accessible, but there's no elevator. There was no room inside, so we were placed outside. It was warm enough for that, but all the pillows were wet! We were moved to a less wet outdoor spot and given blankets. Still, I find this rather disappointing when you've booked a month in advance.

Croquettes on bread! Bread was hard to find. Due to the busy days they slice the bread thinner. Well then the price can also be lower in my opinion. Play on that and stock up on more bread I would say when the weather is nice.

Too bad I can't give 0 stars! I regularly visit De Beren in Leerdam, both with family and friends. Unfortunately, there is one constant factor that makes the visit less pleasant every time: a waitress with black hair who always comes across as unfriendly and disinterested (apparently she is the daughter of the owner..EVEN worse) On our last visit we came with friends without a reservation. At first it was said that only the high table was available, but as soon as another person joined us and we asked for another option, it suddenly turned out that a normal table was available. Why wasn't that communicated immediately? Then this waitress came to take our order without any greeting - something she also neglected to do on each of my previous visits. She immediately started with: "What are you going to drink?" in a tone that was anything but friendly. It seemed to us as if she had no desire to work there or to serve us. When our third guest joined, the staff clearly saw this, but no one came to us to take his order. We had to ask for it ourselves, which is just not professional. Later, someone from our party asked if they had beer. Her response: "Yes," and she turned to walk away. No specification, no offer, nothing. We had to ask ourselves what beer was available, on tap or in bottles, what kind of glasses, and so on. These are things you are supposed to ask as a waiter. This attitude is unfortunately not a one-off, but something I have experienced several times with the same person. Maybe it is time for this employee to get some training in customer service and basic hospitality etiquette. Customers pay for their food and the experience - and that is now being negatively affected every time. Not recommended!

We had made a reservation at 18.15 and left at 21.30. We took the share menu to share, it is a 4-course menu and waited half an hour between courses because of my gastric reduction, which was taken into account. The hostess Terzen helped us well, we only had to tell her to let the next course come and it was very tasty and fresh. Thank you for your good service.

We had a 4 course menu from social deal. Staff was friendly, but it could be better. Around 9:15 p.m. the staff came to ask if we still wanted coffee, otherwise they would clean the machine. I don't think that's possible, but opinions are divided on that. For dessert I had Apple crumble with a scoop of ice cream. Ice cream was fine, but the crumble was inedible. It felt like I was participating in a cinnamon challenge, I couldn't get rid of it. When we reported this, they indicated that this was not possible. Nothing else and we had to pay the bill. I don't think this is a service. No more apple crumble for me and no tips

We regularly go to De Beren, but only in Roermond, Nederweert and Valkenburg, so with friends in Leerdam the choice was quickly made! We had made a reservation for 4 people, 1 child and 1 stroller. We went out for dinner for the 1st time with our newborn daughter. Upon arrival, we and our daughter were placed in front of the open door to the terrace, which we did not like, of course, so we were sent upstairs. Pram, etc. We took it apart and walked upstairs where we sat at a 6-person table with the pram on its end. No, no, they shouted, we had to take a 4-person table, an extra chair in the corner for the child and the baby had to be on the arm, the stroller was parked at a 2-person table with the message: "We will explain it to the guests sitting there". Unfortunately, nothing was explained to the 2-person table, which led to quite a discussion with the people who were absolutely not happy with the stroller that was at "Their" table, so we eventually took it away again. Eating out with our baby for the first time gave us the feeling that our daughter was a big deal to everyone. In addition, the food left much to be desired. At De Beren we always order the chateaubriand, medium rare. We received this piece of meat, almost well done. To which the waiter said, oops, no. This is not medium rare! Whereupon the big boss said "this is always how we bake medium rare!" I still sent the meat back because 65 euros for well-done tenderloin is a shame... then a female manager came and told me that it was really medium rare and brought the meat back, which was suddenly nicely red and bloody. It was our piece of meat, we could see that from the cuts. It looked as if they had dipped it in a pool of blood and given it back. Because cut 1cm further, and yes. Just as well done. Unfortunately, having discussions with these people was not possible and we had to make do. Because of our other company we left it at that, but from the managers there was no form of empathy, no customer friendliness or customer focus, while at the other branches of the Beren we always eat very well and are always received very friendly. So nothing more than Praise about branches Roermond/Valkenburg/Nederweert. But the way they treat guests at De Beren Leerdam is, well, very sad. But our first time out to dinner with our daughter was really ruined and taken away from us by this way of acting. There was no apology but only a sneer when leaving the establishment. Very sorry.

Yesterday, as we often do, we had a nice lunch at De Beeren in Leerdam. We took a seat on the sunny terrace, but soon noticed that it was too hot for our 10-month-old child. Fortunately, a table became available in the shade, and we asked if we could move there. What followed was downright shocking. A young waitress indicated that this was not possible because “the kitchen would get confused” - after all, our order was linked to the table where we were sitting at that moment. When we asked this question, because it seemed quite simple to us, the answer we got was: “How difficult can it be to immediately sit in the shade?” Excuse me? This response was not only unprofessional, but downright rude. Plus, there was plenty of room, and we were talking about a baby's health and well-being. The fact that so little understanding, flexibility and customer friendliness is shown - while we always came with pleasure - is truly unimaginable. Even other guests on the terrace were surprised and indicated that in our situation they simply would not pay. It is clear to us: we will not come back here again.

The food is fine, but the staff turned out to be downright rude, wanting to pay separately when requesting and in the event of a disagreement that part of a dish was charged separately. Any additional costs will not be communicated when ordering. In short, a very bad experience and paying separately is too much trouble, while there were plenty of empty tables. The cash register system is apparently leading. Last time, never again.

We discovered it when driving into Leerdam. Sat on the terrace in the best weather. Nice service. The burgers were great. Is recommended
