Delicious satay for a nice price

We ate the three-course meal with a group of 15, and it was delicious! Friendly service, a great atmosphere, and a fantastic play paradise for the little ones. Definitely worth coming back!

We ate here through a social deal, but unfortunately we had to pay an extra 6 euros for some mushrooms from a jar (and 2 euros for a fried egg for two people), which was out of proportion to the rest of the price... unfortunately, never again...

We popped in here spontaneously with a last-minute social deal 4-course menu. We probably wouldn't have gone for the full price. We didn't think the quality warranted it. But with the substantial discount (a few euros more would have been fine), you really can't go wrong. Everything tasted great, without a single flaw. The gyoza was well-seasoned, the fries crispy. Nothing wrong with that. Plus, the service was friendly and fast, and the atmosphere is cozy. That also explains the relatively high score for this Berenrestaurant. By far the best of the franchise restaurants I've visited. -update- The only downside is the chatGPT response. This comes from an automated response system that restaurants can buy. Come on, De Beren! You don't have to. Respond authentically or don't respond at all :P

Begging for tips, American-style, when paying with a debit card machine is ridiculous. Here, we have collective labor agreements and decent salaries, and a tip is a nice bonus. Trying to milk that for profit is truly outrageous.

I had lunch at De Beren on Thursday, January 18, 2024. Since I almost always ask for bread without the crust, the female server was quite difficult about it. You can't do that yourself. You can't do that if the bread is already topped with various toppings and an egg. Okay, the server came back with the chef's joke about whether the crust had to be removed from the croquette as well!!! Well, I didn't find this particularly funny, as the atmosphere in the restaurant was already quite unpleasant. The soup was tasteless, the bread was tough, and the coffee was cold. The service was far below par. No more visits to De Beren in Veenendaal or anywhere else for that matter.

Made a reservation for two last night. We had a truly delicious meal, and despite the crowds, the service was fast. So my compliments to the staff and the chef, because the bear burger is definitely recommended. Deliciously prepared with good quality beef. The interior also has a lovely, warm atmosphere.

I've read a lot of negative reviews about De Beren, but the Veenendaal location is fantastic. The food-to-price ratio is excellent, and it's simply delicious. The staff is super friendly, and we certainly didn't have to wait long for our food.

It was a birthday present for my mother. We couldn't get in Ede unless we paid full price, which included the cinema. So I drove to Veenendaal, Beren. I emailed a few weeks in advance. We got the wrong seat, and a man next to us stared at us, which wasn't pleasant during our meal. I asked if I could order a salad, but that was absolutely impossible. The staff was very rushed. The potatoes were dripping with grease. I had a bad stomach ache afterward. You had to pay for everything separately, and you also had to pay a tip. It was a real shame, but the birthday present was kind of ruined this way. I emailed a complaint, but they didn't do anything about it at Beren.

Had a delicious meal, also suitable for older people, because despite the Saturday evening crowds you can have a nice chat with each other.

We love coming here because of the play area for the kids. And we've never experienced such terrible service and food quality. I've been working in the ho for years.

Very suitable for children! A great play area where they can have a great time. The food was generally good. The only difference was that the fries were very dry and tasted old. Tip: don't chew gum while being served. Also, don't address guests informally, as not everyone appreciates that.

This time we ate in Veenendaal, the food and service were excellent again.

The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't quite right. The spareribs, for example, were mostly boiled but not properly grilled. The salad and hamburger were okay. The service was somewhat inexperienced but did their best to serve us politely (tip: chewing gum doesn't look very polite). The restaurant itself was nicely decorated with comfortable seating and sofas.

Poor service and a long wait. The food was lukewarm, tasteless, and expensive. They're terrible at accommodating dietary requirements. Everything was indicated in advance, and they could have accommodated it. They promised she'd come back if the bear burger wasn't available. That didn't happen. So, it's possible, but then they'll leave out everything they can't eat. So, instead of a bear burger bun, they gave me two crumbly burgers, lettuce, and two dry strips of bacon. They did offer me another meal, but since we'd already waited an hour and a half, I politely declined. The staff also clearly indicated in their behavior that I was a difficult customer. That's how I experienced it. Update: I contacted them by email, and they made a nice gesture. They also added a vegan bun to the menu. Now people with lactose intolerance can also eat a bear burger bun. It's great that De Beren is handling this!

We wanted the sharing menu, which is available for two or more people. When ordering, we indicated we wanted the sharing menu for three people. The staff told us this wasn't possible and was only for two. We pointed out that the menu stated "two or more people." The reason we were given for not being able to share the menu for three people was that one portion would have to be thrown away. You'd think that portion could then be used for another table. The food was otherwise okay, but nothing special. Also, no one came by for drinks after dessert. No reason to come back.

BAD! After placing the order, the main course (schnitzel with mushroom/truffle sauce) arrived within 8 minutes (!) (time was taken). The result: half-raw schnitzels, and the meat was of inferior quality. The fried potatoes were probably left over from lunch. The "vegetables" were almost raw on the plate. The fried potatoes were even charged separately! I've worked in the hospitality industry for 50 years, so I know what I'm talking about. I complained to the staff and walked to the kitchen. The kitchen manager replied: "Well, this is still okay!" I hadn't paid for one main course, but NO EXCUSE AT ALL. They'll never see us again. See the response below from manager (?) de Beren. Unfortunately, the truth isn't being told here. They said a new main course would be made, which seems odd to me since I indicated I wanted to pay and was already at the checkout (I did indeed have to pay for one main course, see my review). Anyone apologize? I don't know who, but not to us, and we're certainly not deaf. A strange way to justify the mistake and report incorrect information. Now I feel like I'm being called a liar!

After a day of shopping in Germany, we stopped in Veenendaal for dinner on our way home. We were greeted very friendly and seated at a cozy round table for four. The service was fast and efficient. We opted for the spicy spareribs and the bear burger. The staff remained alert and attentive. We had a delicious meal with excellent value for money.

No offense to the staff. But whoever was in charge last night should be ashamed of themselves. I ordered carpaccio. It turned out they had something sprinkled on it that I'm severely allergic to. (I've never seen this product on a carpaccio before, so I didn't expect it to be there, but anyway.) I tried to explain this. I also explained that I felt incredibly bad about it. But there's even a chance I'd end up in the hospital. There was practically no understanding. "You should have read the menu better," I was told. They were willing to make a new one, but I'd have to pay extra for it. So, on top of the other carpaccio. I told them this was poor service. But they didn't listen to me about that either. A few minutes later, I saw the exact same thing happen to another diner. (Coincidence? I have no idea.) I'm indignant, and even angry, actually. Indeed, I got a double bill. If you want to make a living this way, you'd better stop. Last night, De Beren Veenendaal treated me scandalously, without any understanding. Even though I remained perfectly polite and courteous. I won't be coming back and will tell everyone around me. I'm also going to file an official complaint. It's a shame this is how things are these days. It's not about the money. It's about principles. Your behavior turned an evening of "pleasure" into panic, shame, and a very bad feeling inside. You could (probably) say now that you tried to come up with a solution. That would have only been a solution that benefited you. And completely disrespectful to the customer. With an attitude like yours, almost no one would dare open their mouth again. Of course, I still wanted a new appetizer. People come to a restaurant because they're hungry. The new appetizer was also quickly thrown onto a plate and still half frozen.

The restaurant was very chaotic and quite dirty, with a lot of food lying on the floor. The staff could really do better. Plates were simply thrown on the table, and not even a "bon appétit" was offered. Furthermore, you had to wait a long time for service. The food was also really nothing special; the tomato soup was very watery, and the fries were simply disgusting. It was the first and last time for me.

We ate a 4-course meal at de Beren via social deal. The dishes are simple, but tasted fine. Service felt a bit messy and hasty. Plates were put down hard on the table and then service quickly moved on. Considering the price of the social deal, it was a great price-quality ratio!

We came here for a 4 course dinner. The food was delicious, especially the gyoza (intermediate dish) was great! Staff was quite friendly. Toilets were clean and accessible. We had dinner here with a social deal. (4-course dinner with a number of options for the starter, intermediate course, main course and dessert). Normally this 4 course dinner excluding drinks was 45 euros per person, which I think is quite reasonable for what you get. You will be quite full at the end! :) Recommended if you are hungry. Tip: If you order fries for several people, you will first receive a portion (this is already quite large as you can see in the bear burger photo). If you want more, you can order for free. So you only pay for 1 portion, they do this to prevent food waste, according to an employee.

Friendly and quick service, delicious meal outside

I remember years ago I would shout: the Bears? No, never, but I have completely changed my mind in the past few years, perhaps also due to having children. A fancy restaurant is fun for two, but usually not with young kids. Here you can really relax as parents and the children can enjoy child-friendly indoor activities. The service is very friendly, it is always spotlessly clean and I think you eat better there than the average fair or city restaurant. Bianca has a good team here with little turnover (that always says something about the management). We sometimes come there every month! From the outside it looks less attractive, but once inside you immediately forget the surroundings.

I went to the restaurant for a birthday meal with some family. Food was delicious. Enjoyed it with the family. Enjoyed the food. Although I must say that the person who served us was not the friendliest, very pushy and quite rude/grumpy. Cuts me off while asking something. Crispy spicy chicken plate: 8/10 very tasty and a lot. Some pieces of chicken and stir-fry vegetables, very tasty, definitely recommended!! Spareribs: 4/10 I really like spareribs but wouldn't order them myself. Not very nice in taste and the meat tasted very fake. Carpaccio: 6/10 Tasty in itself, but it has a special taste. This was our place to go a year ago. Their burgers were so great like home made same for the fries. Now seems that they just move to mass production taking their quality away. They needed to fill in the space with 2 tinny burgers to give the hamburger some shape. I give 2 starts because of the dessert, apple crumble, good quantity and great taste. The personnel was very friendly and attentive.

Fine restaurant chain normally. Still, this experience was on the poor side in terms of service and food. A very normal jug of tap water could not be added to our normal drink orders. After discussion with the 'floor manager' we were able to get a mini jug of tap water at an excessive cost. We will not return with our families. Update on the review: Why can only factory water be served? Tap water is just fine and a basic need. Moving water bottles is just nonsense. Dutch catering industry is very unfriendly compared to Scandinavian countries. Tap water is standard on the table there. Take advantage of it to keep customers.
