Restaurant De Bon Vivant in Noord

Een deceptie is eigenlijk de samenvatting van ons bezoek met een groep vrienden en familie aan dit restaurant. Weliswaar heeft het restaurant onder de vlag van de nieuwe eigenaar een nieuwe naam gekregen, Prins Maurits maar de conclusie is dat het een allemaal een stuk duurder is geworden terwijl de kwaliteit flink achteruit is gehold. Het eten was zeer matig van kwaliteit. Het begon al met het feit dat de gerant duidelijk andere tafels belangrijker vond dan ons 9-tal. Vervolgens werd de bediening overgedragen aan een jonge man die kennelijk nog niet zo erg lang dit werk deed. Stuntelig in het overleggen van slechts 1 menu kaart die we maar door moesten geven… en duidelijk volstrekt onkundig qua kennis over de beschikbare wijnen. De keuzes voor de gerechten werden door de groep bepaald en het voorgerecht en dessert waren redelijk maar meer ook niet. Het hoofdgerecht was bij iedereen een afknapper. Muffe Zeewolf, een Surf&Turf waarbij de Turf te taai voor woorden was. De wijnen zijn redelijk maar sterk overpriced voor wat ze bieden. Buiten op het terras “woont” de eigenaar, althans hij zit daar meestal. Voor het bedienende personeel erg belangrijk want daar ging de meeste aandacht naar toe. Kortom een restaurant dat we voorlopig maar even gaan overslaan.

We waren met 4 personen.Alleen de voorgerechten tartaar en carpaccio waren lekker. De Bisque was veel te gebonden en niet warm genoeg. Hoofdgerechten vis en vlees veel te droog weinig smaak, veel jus en saus toegevoegd als smaakversterker. De witte wijn Pinot Grigio was lekker. We hebben onze klachten doorgegeven,waar vervolgens helemaal niks mee werd gedaan. Kaasplankje was lekker, koffie ok met 1 bonbon…

Een tournedos voor 3 personen 111euro op een bijna kaal bord dus zonder groente, die prijs is veel te hoog! Wij kwamen hier eerder en het was nog nooit zo duur. Laatste keer geweest.

Excellent restaurant and great service. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed.

Mooie locatie en vriendelijke bediening. Sfeervol ingericht. Toch wat kritiekpuntjes: de porties van de voorgerechten zijn groot. Ik had een carpaccio wat wel erg veel was waardoor ik al redelijk vol zat voor het hoofdgerecht. De carpaccio was wat taai en erg vet. er zat naar mijn mening te veel kaas op, ook één of andere saus die erg vet was. Als hoofdgerecht hadden we zalm met asperges. De zalm was prima maar de asperges waren duidelijk niet goed geschild. Er zaten nog wat velletjes aan. Dit gerecht werd ook snel bezorgd dus ik vermoed dat ze het afgeraffeld hadden. Het dessert was echter prima. We hadden limoenijs met vruchtjes. Als we heer weer gaan eten nemen we beslist geen voorgerecht meer.

Unfortunately our 2 experiences are not really positive…. Staff not really attentive, and not knowing what they were serving ... more busy talking to each other and the meals were served too cold, even on cold plates (we even had to ask) ... We were invited, so it is difficult to complain about the food (not great) in the presence of our friends. Hopefully a better cook will come in the future .

What a great time we had at the Bon Vivant today, in honor of our parents' 60th wedding anniversary. In anticipation of this day, we were able to consult with them carefully about the possibilities and the time frame that was available at our request. Excellent choice of several starters, main courses and desserts. Delicious wine and super friendly service. As far as we are concerned, the 5 stars are more than deserved!

Everything was perfect down to one point. When the restaurant is full, which is of course very nice for the staff and owner, it gets noisy. We could hardly understand each other. Maybe a different table setting.

We hebben vanavond heerlijk gegeten met de familie voor de verjaardag van mijn vader. Een mooi 3-gangen diner met lekkere amuzes, mooi opgemaakte voor- en hoofdgerechten met o.a. Heilbot, hert, tournedos en kabeljauw. Voor de veganisten was er ook een heerlijk menu met mooie groenten, paddestoelen en kastanjes. Lof voor de keukenbrigade die dcht super hun best hadden gedaan. We komen zeker nog een keer terug. Top avondje

We had an unexpected and last minute dinner at Bon Vivant to celebrate our 12th anniversary. We also had to call to say that we were arriving later. But what a top restaurant, enthusiastic service, nice atmosphere and delicious food. We took the surprise menu with the BOB wine package and enjoyed it from moment 1. Very special and a real surprise, very beautifully prepared and very tasty. In addition, I have Celiac disease, but that was no problem here either. Menu was adapted for me. Other choices on the Children's Menu list will also be adjusted. In short...I'm excited!! Also another plus...disabled toilet available.

We opted for the 3 course surprise menu and it did not disappoint. Truly beautiful dishes with fantastic flavor combinations. Our personal favorite was the roe with chanterelle and hazelnut puree. The atmosphere was good and the service was attentive and thinks along with you.

Booked more than a month in advance but we were put down near the kitchen with staff walking back and forth. Menu was barely readable, we had to read the menu with the lights on our mobile phones. It was cold there (November). Sparse garnish for an extra charge.

It's getting worse. The restaurant is emptying because it is getting worse by the day. The quality of food is declining. And when you criticize they become very defensive.

We were there 10 before they opened. It looked inviting but we didn't know it wasn't open yet. When I went to the toilet I couldn't have had a good afternoon. And also no information that they were not open yet. So no welcome feeling. So we just left. It's a shame about this behavior of catering staff.

Celebrated my birthday yesterday on May 7. We composed the menu ourselves because that was also possible. The food was good and well prepared, we had a pleasant evening. So as far as I'm concerned, I or we will come back here more often 👍

Expensive, mediocre quality food and the caviar is shoved "down your throat". Furthermore, the staff was the only reason to give it a star. Despite the caviar mess, they were extremely professional. Still an absolute recommendation. Ate in Maastricht twice last week. The food here was much better and in total we spent less on eating out twice than eating out at Bon Vivant once.

I was disappointed with 3 asparagus for a hefty amount and they were not yet softly cooked, I was not asked in advance whether I liked hard asparagus, service was ok, just too much, I was asked if everything was enough drinks and often additional drinks were added so that the bottle was empty quickly, I prefer to arrange that myself!! won't be calling this restaurant anytime soon!!

Imagine you enter a restaurant with 3 young children on a last minute reservation the evening before a new semi lock down and they serve a fantastic 8 course menu that evening that does not quite fit in with your own plans. Sufficient reason not to be flexible. But not with "de bon vinant". What hospitality and friendliness. Our wishes were taken into account very flexibly. And oh yes, the food was fantastic too. All praise for these entrepreneurs at this time.
