Restaurant De Brekken in Wijk 23 Lemmer

Tonight we placed an order at Snackbar de Brekken and picked it up. Once we got home, the rolls were missing from the croquettes. The fries special had no onion, the frikadellen special did have onion, and the sauce looked like it had been tossed on. The spring roll was barely frozen, and the croquettes, frikadellen, and fries were cold. We had to wait there because the food wasn't ready yet. (And it's less than a 5-minute drive.) We called to say we were missing items and that everything was cold. All I got in response was "the rolls are always free" and a "sorry."

We were a group of five people. Unfortunately, our visit was very disappointing. Some of the food was very cold, and we waited a very long time for our meals, even though the restaurant was only a third full. The meat in the sharing menu was awful. It was truly inedible. I've been to many restaurants all over Europe, but the food here was terrible value for money. The service was very friendly, and I'm sorry to leave a bad review.

The food was delicious, and the restaurant was lovely.

The quality is good, but if you're a group of eight, you only get four small baskets of fries and two small bowls of vegetables. If you reorder these, they sometimes arrive late or not at all. It's really not enough. When it's busier, it takes a very long time to get your meal. We arrived at our table at 6:00 PM, but were served (although with a small appetizer) at 7:50 PM. We reported this before, but apparently nothing was done about it. It's a shame, as it's a rather quirky restaurant.

Great atmosphere and imaginative, delicious dishes. Unfortunately, everything took a bit too long, from taking the order to delivery to payment. But everyone was very nice!

Delicious food in a lovely setting. Portions varied greatly in size. The satay skewers were just about enough to fill you up. The portion of fish and chips would have been enough for two people.

Four of us ate there! I had a schnitzel with cheese, paprika, and a fried egg! And it tasted like nothing, and the side dishes weren't tasty either! We were disappointed! Unfortunately! The service was very nice and accommodating, though!

A very exclusive restaurant with a beautiful outdoor area right on the harbor. An extensive menu with first-class food. We had very attentive and friendly service.

Went there for the first time. Very good food, excellent service. Texas burger 👍 cooked to perfection, great taste. Salmon fillet simply amazing. The shrimp stir-fry appetizer was a big thumbs up. Highly recommended, we'll be back.

We've eaten at Restaurant De Brekken several times over the past few years and have always been satisfied with the service and the food. Unfortunately, in our opinion, the quality and quantity of the food has declined this year. Charging high prices and portions that don't fill you up isn't the right approach in my opinion. On our last visit, the side dishes for five people were a small bowl of broccoli and salad, one of potato gratin, and a basket of fries. The size of the schnitzel was only suitable for a child's plate. We reordered fries and broccoli twice, which were brought relatively promptly. Actually, one person would easily eat the side dishes intended for five people. Alberto, please consider whether you shouldn't add more side dishes when there are several people at the table. We will come back to your restaurant and hope that you can maintain the quality of the past few years.

On the last Friday evening of August, we went here with friends and made a reservation, which turned out to be a good thing, as the place was packed. A very pleasant and peaceful atmosphere inside, despite the crowds. The menu is extensive and quite surprising, with many delicious dishes. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, without too much fuss. The service was quick and the interaction with the guests was pleasant. It's actually just a great place to eat, and the quality and taste are excellent... Highly recommended!

We've been coming to Lemmer for years, and this is our number one spot. The food is incredibly delicious and varied. The atmosphere at the harbor is simply fantastic. The only downside is that prices have risen considerably in recent years, but unfortunately, that's the case everywhere these days.

We took the walk from the center (2.5 km). We ordered the Brekken-style mixed meats and the quality was spectacular. We shared it and it was more than enough for two. The price was good and the atmosphere was very cool. The waiters were wonderful.

We found the restaurant by chance. It didn't look anything special from the outside, but inside it's actually beautiful. The food is really good and the service is very friendly. Highly recommended.

It's not cheap, but you get a good price in terms of quality and portion size. The only downside was that, despite not trying the restaurant much, we had to wait an hour for our food.

Today we visited Restaurant De Brekken, which we decided to do based on reading the reviews. Conclusion: After we chose a table, the waitress served us promptly. We quickly got our drinks (2 people), and the food was also ordered and arrived after about 15 minutes. We had the Texas burger and beef fillet steak with a really generous amount of side dishes. We were really surprised that everything on the menu was actually included. During our meal, the waitress came and asked several times if we were enjoying our meal and if everything was OK. We said it was. After we finished, we waited for the table to be cleared. After half an hour, the waitress came around several times and didn't ask if we wanted anything else to drink or if she could clear the table. We actually wanted something else to drink, but we decided to pay our bill directly at the bar. The service there is really not good, and it was almost deserted. There were enough staff on site, so I don't understand it. Well, it's a shame, we probably won't go there again.

We chose "De Brekken" as our first overnight stay on our boat trip with three couples and were absolutely thrilled. It's a real alternative to the town of Lemmer itself, as it's much quieter. Be sure to reserve a table and a berth right in front of the restaurant well in advance! A large selection of food and drinks at fair prices, very attentive service, and excellent restroom facilities for boaters. We'll definitely be back.

The food was okay. The price was too high for the quality. The male server was unfriendly. After the meal, he threw a crumpled napkin on our table when we pointed out that the side dishes we'd ordered hadn't arrived. German tourists seem to be unwelcome and get the worst tables, despite having reservations.

Was much better last year, but now I don't like the food much anymore. Thin sauces, slow servers, but still a nice location. Update 2025: No longer recommended. Unfriendly, forgetful, not enough sauce for the schnitzel, and it's thin to boot. I won't be coming back.

We have visited the restaurant several times in the past few days. The ambience inside is very coherent and inviting. The outdoor area: Simply a beautiful place with a view of the water, a dream at a late hour! We have found very friendly and helpful people in service, included in the usual humor ... 😊 The food and drinks are served on a very good level, there was nothing to complain about. Prices are at the local level, considering the quality, the restaurant in terms of price/performance is absolutely top in Lemmer. The restaurant is located a bit away from the "City", but the (short) way there is worth reservation in advance in the season! All the best for the team - see you soon!

We came spontaneously and were there for the first time. We ordered the burgers. The quality (juicy/homemade patties) and the taste were unique. Recommended location.

We were once again at Restaurant de Brekken with friends and were pleased to find that the quality of the food and the service were significantly better than last season. We had Kibbeling, Wiener Schnitzel, the Brekken Burger and pork fillet with mushroom sauce. Everything was very tasty, beautifully presented and there were 3 baskets of fries plus fried potatoes. There was also a small bowl of mixed salad with a really tasty dressing, plus gratinated chicory. The drinks were well poured. This time we had nothing to complain about. That's why I've updated my last post. Keep it up dear Brekken team. It remains quite lively at times, so make reservations in good time.

We had a great meal again and the greeting alone is so personal that we enjoy coming here.

Unfortunately, as a vegetarian you don't have much choice here. You can only choose from different types of burgers. It's a shame, other restaurants now have a much more extensive menu for vegetarians. Side dishes could also be a bit more varied than just some bowls of fries and a bowl of salad. I see comments below about the loud live music on Christmas Day. Unfortunately we had that experience too, you couldn't understand each other and had to really shout to say something. Those 3 minutes that the owner is talking about below are certainly not correct, it was much longer.

Unfortunately, the volume of the live band was too loud (94db) to chat quietly during the Christmas dinner with family. But the food was fine!

Wij hebben hier heerlijk gegeten tijdens de kerstdagen. Gewoon van de dagelijkse kaart te bestellen. De gerechten lijken redelijk aan de prijs te zijn, maar je krijgt dan ook een bord vol met eten, wat zeker de gevraagde prijs waard is. Prachtige gerechten en zeer smakelijk. Wel jammer dat er maar 1 sport soep te bestellen was. Verder een prachtige locatie met een zeer gezellig aangeklede entourage.

Wir waren hier im Rahmen eines kleinen Geburtstagsessen. reserviert und bestätigt wurden unsere Tische draußen auf Terrasse. Zugegeben, das Wetter hätte besser sein können, aber wir wurden drinnen platziert ohne Nachfrage und Kommunikation. Die Terrasse war jedoch geöffnet und gut besucht. Wir haben anfänglich sehr lange warten müssen, bis die Getränke aufgenommen wurden. Der Service durch den ganzen Abend war sehr langsam. Teilweise gingen ihr zur Theke um überhaupt Getränke bestellen zu könne. Es wurden auch nur verzögert die Tische abgeräumt. Die Wartezeit aufs Essen war ebenfalls zu lang. Deutlich über 1,5 Stunden Wartezeit. Die Speisen waren durchweg in Ordnung. Da gab es nichts zu meckern. Auch hier mussten aber Beilagen bspw. Nachbestellt werden, weil sie fehlten. Als wir zahlten und gingen (weit über eine Stunde nach dem Essen) war noch immer kein einziger Teller abgeräumt. Das geht einfach nicht. Besonders vor dem Hintergrund, dass es nicht am Stress lag. Der Service war einfach schlampig und beschäftigte sich lieber mit den Kollegen als den Gästen. Fazit: Schönes Ambiente, toller Lage am Hafen, ordentliche Speisenqualität, miserabler Service.

Food was very delicious but the portions are a bit tiny. The sides come on an extra plate for the whole table and more can be ordered free of charge. Or at least that is how it is stated in the menu. When we asked for an extra portion of sides because one portion for three people wasn’t enough it never came. When we asked a second time where our sides were and if we could have more they also never came. It didn’t really matter since we already finished our main meals and our plates were taken away so we just left a bit hungry. Perhaps they were understaffed but if it is stated on the menu it should be expected to come after ordering it a second time.

Have been coming here for years with satisfaction. A big disappointment tonight. Side dishes very limited and far too little service. Main courses were not served at the same time (more than 5 minutes apart) so we had to wait a long time. After receiving the menu for dessert, no one showed up for 20 minutes. We decided to pay and get dessert elsewhere. This wasn't good today.

After a long time we visited restaurant "de Breken" again. I ordered a schnitzel and it was definitely not tender and tasty. It seemed as if it had been baked or reheated for the second time. Unlike previous experiences where you were served enough food, this time it was very little.

Very unfriendly, after waiting an hour for the order the kitchen was closed. We left hungry and all the restaurants were closed. No apology and no restitution. They insisted on paying for two drinks. “Thanks” to this restaurant our evening was ruined.

If you want to get to know Dutch hospitality, this is the right place for you.

(I think there were not enough staff on that evening) After asking for the menu again for a dessert, they never came again. We left after waiting 20 minutes. Very sorry.

De bediening is super vriendelijk en doen erg goed hun best. Het eten daarin tegen is matig. De ene biefstuk veel te rauw de andere bijna doorgebakken. Duurde ook allemaal lang. Waarschijnlijk door personeels gebrek.

Had Easter brunch yesterday just like last year. Eating moderately, many products consumed quickly, lukewarm and simple food Service was also mediocre. Little to nothing for vegetarians, no signs with what you eat with the products would be useful because of allergens.

New Year's Day, so I don't feel like cooking! Texas burger, chunks burger and bread ordered via home delivery! Was delivered promptly by a friendly delivery person within the estimated time! I had made a note with the brassenburger that it had to be “well done”, because raw meat is not allowed to be eaten! Unpack everything and sit at the table! Unfortunately, the burger soon turned out to be completely raw on the inside... Normally this would be tasty, but being pregnant this didn't seem like a good idea... so I threw the burger in the pan myself... The Texas burger was very tasty (also partly raw, but that wasn't a problem here). I wasn't sure whether fries would be included, but they were included! With applesauce, mayo and small salad! Bread tasted good too! All in all, after a bit of home cooking, we still had a delicious meal!
