Food is alright. Got the stroofel, caramel and whipped cream pancake. Also it would have been perfect if staff could tell us of the freebies before we bought them xD

Huge restaurant in the heart of the Zaanse Schans with plenty tables. Nice place to have a light lunch/ snack and washroom break (only for guests). There’s a public pay washroom not far away but it costs euro 1/ visit by credit card and always line up if you visit at the weekend. We ordered ham and cheese pancake which is not common in North America to see savoury pancake. The taste is like soft thin crust pizza which I enjoyed very much.

Nice place to have a quick meal. The pancakes were good, I tried the pineapple and cheese one and I just like this mix. They have apple cakes, hot chocolates and some salads.

Visited Restaurant De Kraai in Zaanse Schans during my trip and it was such a peaceful, authentic experience. The Dutch pancakes were freshly made — soft inside with a slight crisp edge — and served generously. Sitting near the window with a view of the windmills made it even more special. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed, with friendly staff and the comforting smell of freshly baked pancakes. It’s the perfect place to take a break and enjoy traditional Dutch food in a beautiful setting.

A pancake shop in the village. There are many customers coming to eat at the shop. It's a large, self-service shop. The pancakes are delicious and smell very good.

The food and service are amazing. We had the tomato and pumpkin soup. Also the hot chocolate is amazing !! Wish we had more time here.

Coffee was mediocre, pancakes were quite good though.

Expensive for the famous crepes: greasy, non-existent filling. It's really a tourist trap with the added bonus of an extremely rude waiter who thinks he's a little chef. There are much better options around or near the city.

Warmest of welcomes. If you coming to see the windmills make sure you you make this stop a priority. Amazing pancakes and apple pie and cream. But it’s the warm welcome that makes us come back time after time

If you sit outdoors, the view is beautiful,you get to enjoy your meal overlooking the windmills. Their Dutch pancakes were delicious. We tried one savory and one sweet, and both were great, especially paired with a cup of Chocomel hot chocolate. Overall, a nice spot with great pancakes and a beautiful view, definitely worth a visit.

It can get very busy, so it takes a while for everyone to get their pancake. The interior is cozy.

Self-service restaurant, with a nice big terrace. The selection of food is poor, only soups, sandwiches, and pancakes. Soup with bread costs 9€, so it is very overpriced. But it was tasty at least.

They make pancakes like pizza; there are many varieties. I had the chicken one; it was very good, but the price was a bit high.

This place was great! A vast selection of pancakes both savory and sweet. We had the apricot pancake, banana pancake, Nutella pancake and bacon and onion pancake and all were delicious. Service was also great. Be sure to have the Slagroom!!

We took our guests for coffee at the DE Kraai restaurant. It was very pleasant; you could eat and drink, and try their soup. Come discover Amsterdam with us!

I had pancakes with ham and cheese. The sweet and salty combination was perfect, as I could drizzle syrup on them. I think it's worth trying at least once. (I thought they'd be thin and small, but they were filling!)

Magical atmosphere and really delicious

The pancakes were delicious and good value. There are a good variety of sweet and savoury as well as traditional Dutch flavours. Service was quick and friendly. The restaurant was clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and highly recommend.

I've never had such a bad pancake. Cheese and bacon, two slices of cheese on top, not cooked through properly. The edges were completely cooked through. Not for me again.

We each tried a different pancake and they were all quite good. Prices were pretty steep, that would be one downfall. The outside deck was very enjoyable. We sat there on a nice sunny day and watched some ducks playing in the water beside the deck.

It was delicious. The chocolate milk was good and you can get whipped cream for free. You get free mini Stroopwafel. You did a great job.

Delicious pancakes in a beautiful setting

So, the pancakes here were cheaper than in Amsterdam City. Still, for four people, 4 pancakes and 4 drinks cost around €80... The service, like everywhere else in the Netherlands, is excellent. Everyone is nice and friendly.

Magnificent setting, I think that's what you pay for in this establishment... Indeed 17.50 for a Nutella and strawberry crepe is clearly excessive. Not to mention the 9.90€ for 2 iced teas...

We felt very welcome at this place. Food (big pancakes) and drinks were quite good and the staff was very helpfull and polite.

A good place to try pancakes advertised as giant. In fact, they're the size of crepes. The latter are served after a beeper sounds once the order is ready. Ours took 20 minutes with relatively few people (probably a large table ahead of us). Then, you have to go to the counter and get the beeper. We were able to try the hot chocolate, which was excellent (homemade whipped cream is available at no extra charge), and an apple crumble tart. Overall, everything was quite satisfying.

Much too expensive for sugar crepes at over 12 euros.

I ordered a pancake with apple and cinnamon. The pancake batter wasn't fully cooked, and there was so little cinnamon and sugar on it that I ended up pouring syrup all over it. What a disappointment.

A bit embarrassed that I've fallen for what in retrospect is pretty clearly a tourist trap. You get 10% discount with the museum pass and the building looks nice enough. The pancakes however, even at 10-15 EUR a piece, are an insult. Do yourself a favour and skip this one.

Great place to go with kids. It’s “self service”, which means you pay in advance and go get your food when is ready. I had Dutch pancakes many many times all over the Netherlands, and the ones at restaurant De Kraai are a great representation of this local dish. The size and overall presentation are quite standard, and they taste really good as well. I found the price quite regular too, which is surprising considering this is a major touristic attraction. Totally recommend.

Geen toilet in het restaurant. In hetzelfde gebouw aan de achterkant wel maar gebruik is 1 euro. Ook voor klanten. Koffie en taartje waren goed. Ook de bediening was prima.

I don’t see how these pancakes could be good value for customers Some dough, several slices of ham, 3 slice of cheese. I enjoyed the pumpkin soup. Mostly self service. There’s a cashier and they give you a timer to pick up your food. Amazing as a business

When visiting Zaanse Schans (windmills) we ate at Restaurant De Kraai. This was our first time eating Dutch pancakes and we found everything to be presented well and delicious tasting! Dutch pancakes are thinner than American ones but not as thin as a crepe. They can be sweet or savory. We had sweet ones. 😃 I had honey with whipped cream pancakes my son had, brandy, raisins and cream pancakes. I also had pumpkin soup. We walked past counters with trays and self-served our soup and drinks. At the register we ordered our pancakes and we were provided a beeper. We were there on a Friday afternoon, slightly past lunch time and didn't have a long wait for our pancakes! There was a cart by the door to place trays on when finished eating. We really enjoyed our visit and recommend eating there on your visit to Zaanse Schans.

The pancakes are good but the service is awful, the attendants are rude. They have gluten free options but the flavors are not the same, they have just a few options and it’s not well informed in the menu. The pancake topping is not very much, it could be done with more care, it looks like they just throw the toppings on top of the pancake.
