Make sure you follow up on order. They say it's coming but after 30mins of waiting, apparently they didn't place the order in the kitchen. From cashier to server, seems disorderly and no system. Atmosphere is good, close to the main attraction. Food is bit salty but passable. Not the best pancakes so skip it if you're not that hungry.

The pancakes have toppings that look like pizza, drizzled with honey and sprinkled with a little powdered sugar for extra flavor. Besides pancakes, there are also pre-cooked dishes displayed like a buffet; you can scoop them yourself with a plate/bowl and take them to the counter to pay. I tried the pumpkin soup at the buffet line and it was delicious. Anyone visiting Zaanse Schans should definitely try this place.

Visited on September 16, 2026, at 2:30 PM. A decent restaurant and café in Zaanse Schans. It operates on a self-service system where you fill a tray with cake and drinks and pay at the counter; for pancakes, you order at the counter and are given a vibrating pager. I was startled by how loud the pager vibrated. The staff were all friendly, and the idyllic interior atmosphere was cozy and pleasant. We ordered an apple cake and two pancakes; the peach pancake was sweet, while the ham and cheese pancake tasted like pizza. I recommend the apple cake as it wasn't too sweet and was delicious. The latte was also great for warming up. I visited with my parents, and everyone enjoyed the cake and coffee. The restrooms are free for paying customers, but while the men's restroom has several stalls, the women's only has one, so it might be difficult to use if it is dirty... In such cases, I recommend using the paid restrooms at the Zaanse Schans Museum.

First time trying Dutch pancake We tried ‘Bacon, cheese, onion pancake’ and ‘Banana, chocolate sauce, whipped cream pancake’. Both were delicious. The savoury one was the best in my opinion. The restaurant has a very nice interior and decoration. Good atmosphere. Most staff nice and friendly.

Great place to eat. They have pancakes that you can order savory or sweet, and they're delicious! They have coloring books and drawings for the kids, and despite the number of tourists in town, the service is quick and there's plenty of room to sit and eat in peace. I would definitely go back.

Had a lovely breakfast here. They serve a dish that’s basically like a thick crepes and they call it pancakes — really tasty. The coffee was great too. Nice indoor and outdoor seating, and the staff were lovely. Good for families too — kids ordering from the kids’ menu get coloring activities to keep them busy.

We stopped at De Kraai for lunch after touring the area, and it exceeded expectations. The portions were generous, and there was a nice variety of baked goods too. Their pancakes were especially delicious. Given how busy it gets with visitors, the staff did a great job keeping everything running smoothly and presentable. I also appreciated that the restaurant seems to give young people a chance to gain work experience, it's a nice touch. If you're touring Zaanse Schans or the Zaans Museum, stop by and treat yourself.

It's self-service, but that's actually more convenient, and you can use the restroom. I love sitting on the terrace on nice days. Just one pancake is enough to fill you up.

This is a restaurant you'll see almost immediately upon arriving at Zaanse Schans by train from Amsterdam! I stopped by before sightseeing in Zaanse Schans and tried the bacon, onion, and cheese pancakes. They were so delicious—savory and salty with a delightful cheesy flavor. The taste of the pancakes convinced me this was a great restaurant, but it was a shame I couldn't eat more because I was too full after just one. If I ever visit Zaanse Schans again, I will definitely come back!!

Really unfair A very small glass of cola is 4.0 euros! And there is no label until at the till and they won’t let you cancel it because you have already poured it in glass!!!

We went to eat there during our visit to Zaams. We ordered three crepes: two with bacon and cheese and one with salami and cheese. They were all delicious. For drinks, we had one bottle of cola (25cl for €5!) and divided it among three glasses with ice. It was a good deal since there were three of us, and we each got one glass of cola, saving a bundle on drinks. The place is lovely, and the terrace area is even nicer, with tables overlooking a small river—very pretty. There's no table service; it's self-service, which, frankly, for the price, they should at least bring things to your table. The "base" price of a crepe is €14. Although it's expensive, like everything in Amsterdam, it's worth it because the food is good.
