I've been here before, but last time the service was truly terrible. There were more empty tables than full, so it wasn't due to the crowds. After arriving, we waited 10-15 minutes, trying to get attention, before the waitress noticed us. We were sitting fairly within her line of sight, but she simply didn't look at the tables. We also had to wait another 20 minutes for two glasses of wine. We just left the rest. This is absolutely terrible service!!!

I also had the pumpkin ravioli. What a disappointment. I wish I'd read the reviews from a few days ago.

Big and busy place, with large groups

I had dinner with a friend at De Markt on Saturday. I chose the pumpkin ravioli. It was served on a large plate, with the pumpkin ravioli only covering the bottom. It was completely inadequate, and all that for the price of €19.95. I went in hungry and left hungry. Not recommended. Luckily, the snack bar was nearby, where I satisfied my hunger.

The food was delicious. I'm only giving it 3 stars because when I got home, I realized we paid €17.85 for three 0.5-liter carafes of water. €6 for half a liter of water is really overpriced, especially considering the wine we ordered.

Cozy place. Seats are comfortable in the back, but it's a bit cramped if you sit at the tables in the middle. The carpaccio sandwich was okay, but I missed truffle mayo.

Nice atmosphere, food could use a bit more attention

The food is tasteless and in some cases the portions are small for the price. The staff doesn't clear away plates and cups (everything sits on the table for a very long time). The food takes 40-50 minutes to arrive. Carbonara, which is easy to make, was made with overcooked pasta, very raw and undercooked lard, and milk instead of any sauce. Lasagna was made of who knows what... a very unpleasant taste.

They should hire an actual cook. It's almost impressive how they produce a carbonara with 'authentic' ingredients that nevertheless does not have any of the flavours of a real carbonara...

Delicious food and very cozy, we will definitely come back.

My partner and I had an excellent anniversary dinner at Restaurant De Markt. The food was divine, and the chef cooked my steak blue flawlessly. The cocktails were perfectly balanced and expertly made. The only element missing was background music, which would have further enhanced the atmosphere, though this may have been due to a high volume of patrons.

We ate at De Markt for the first time. It has a warm atmosphere and a beautiful interior. We were served promptly, and the food arrived quickly. The food was delicious, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully presented. Definitely recommended and one to remember the next time we're in Utrecht!

We've been here before, and once again the food was delicious, the service good, and the atmosphere pleasant. I think they could use less salt (on the salmon), but otherwise, no complaints. The service was reasonably quick and friendly, though sometimes perhaps a bit too verbose, but that wasn't a problem for us.

What a nice place, delicious food and good service, really great

Had a great pizza with Italian sausage and potato. Amazing dough with simple yet tasty toppings. Complimented the Tuscan tomato soup perfectly. Nice window seat looking out the back garden.

Great restaurant and delicious food, good service and hospitality

First, we asked four times that it was a birthday and if anything special could be done. Absolutely nothing. Main courses were mediocre. One steak was good, the other overcooked. The chicken in the Caesar salad was very dry. My wife's dish was mealy with a sauce that was very bland and tasteless. She mentioned this, but nothing was done about it. And they served us two portions of fries even though we had ordered one. Furthermore, it was very crowded and noisy at a table in the middle. The price-quality ratio was very poor. Unfortunately.

The Caesar chicken didn't taste quite right, the dressing wasn't good, and the chicken tasted very strange, so I only managed three bites, but maybe that's just my taste... Other than that, we were well served, and it's a nice spot. But the food wasn't exactly great.

I had lunch at the market in Utrecht this afternoon. I ordered white bread carpaccio. After taking a few bites, a piece of my tooth broke off, and my tooth is also loose because of the hard crust of the bread :(. Other than that, the atmosphere and service were excellent!

We went to The Markt in Utrecht for my sister-in-law’s bachelorette party, and it couldn’t have been a better choice! The team put together a special menu for us with lots of dishes to try, and they were so friendly and flexible in helping us choose. The atmosphere and energy of the place were wonderful, and the location in the heart of Utrecht makes it super easy to reach. The restaurant itself is beautiful inside — definitely worth a visit even just for the setting. If you’re lucky with your table, you’ll also have a gorgeous view of the garden. Great food, warm service, and a perfect spot for a special evening!

I can't judge the food, as I didn't even get around to ordering! The three of us were led to a table in the back and sat down. In seven (!) minutes, we were passed countless times by busy and less busy staff, but apparently, we weren't exactly in anyone's neighborhood. When we got up to leave, someone rushed over. We said, "Since we weren't seen, we'll go next door," and the answer was, "Oh, OK." A nice evening. It didn't matter. Special.

Always pleasant and delicious. Too bad croquettes on bread weren't available in the evening. Bitterballen and a separate roll were available!? Not very flexible.

The restaurant's atmosphere was simple and pleasant, but the way we were greeted and approached made our visit uncomfortable. Not all the service was unpleasant, but at times it was clear that someone wasn't really in the mood. We were allowed to choose our own table, but—while the baby was already eating—we were asked to move for no apparent reason. This felt unnecessary and somewhat unfriendly. A little later, during a pleasant moment with friends, we were asked in a gruff tone to make room, even though there was plenty of room and the restaurant was almost empty. The company still made the afternoon enjoyable, but the attitude of the service didn't really make anyone feel comfortable. As a result, my friends only had one drink.

Everything is great! Except for one waitress! The man was a bit grumpy and put everything down on the table very loudly. She was too chaotic and broke a glass.

The food wasn't bad, but it didn't have a wow factor either: it was perfectly edible, but bland. The service was okay, but you had to speak loudly to reach your neighbor.

The most notable part of this restaurant is its great atmosphere. Other than that the food was fine but nothing special (except some overcooked spaghetti) and personnel was mostly fine. For the price its not worth it, however, if its a good atmosphere you are looking for, I guess its fine to come here.

Delicious food, I ordered the Caesar salad and fries! We had to get back to work and had limited time, but that was taken into account right away. The order was taken quickly and the food was there on time, so we could eat quietly. And when we wanted to pay, someone was ready right away. Good service!

We were here with a group of 150 people. A fixed menu was agreed upon in advance, communication could have been better, because the staff did not fully understand that, but the staff acted very quickly and made everything to our liking!

Super nice service and location! But: The mixed starter platter is good but some bread would have been nice, though it was really huge. Mains: Weird pizzas (mortadella, pistachios and tangerine?!?), and the Chicken dish unfortunately was quite bad: the chicken’s skin was not roasted properly and the potatoes were not cooked long enough. The dish is very dry overall. But I guess I‘d give it a second try one day.

This afternoon we went to eat at the market with a group of friends. We had 2 pizzas and 2 sandwiches. Pizzas were tasty and sandwiches too. But one of the girls wanted mortadella on her burrata sandwich. Unfortunately this was very difficult, because they came with a completely different sandwich. Then we asked another colleague if the sandwich could be fixed and we got an eye roll (woman with a pony and a ponytail). Staff was not friendly and inexperienced. Came across as disinterested. NOT SERVICE ORIENTED. The girl we paid with was very friendly!

The lasagna with minced lamb was delicious. Lamb is often expensive, but in this case the lasagna was well priced and definitely worth it. The dish was more nutritious than I expected, although I did order a side of fries. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere pleasant. It is actually always full, but it never feels too busy or chaotic. Last time I had a salmon sandwich, but I really liked the lasagna with salad much better. I would definitely order that again. The smoothie was also delicious, which was a shame when the glass was empty. And with the mint tea I did get 7 bags of honey, which was also Service, although I thought two was enough.

This place surprised us in a refreshing way. We chose it for the ambiance but the seabass fillet was so delicious, i can easily say its the best in town, saying this as someone who tried most of the food in utrecht. Special thanks to Flynn who made our experience complete😌👌

Hm... I was very disappointed... I didn't find much Italian about it.

DELICIOUS food, burrata as a starter and fried salmon head! Because it was rainy it was quite full and there was a lot of buzz (people don't sit on the terrace by the canal) Sometimes had to try a bit to get the attention of the staff (they were really busy). Conversation worked fine (table in the corner) Friendly, hard-working and knowledgeable staff. Especially on a rainy day it doesn't hurt to make a reservation.

The taste was good, but not great. The entrecote (350 grams? more like 200) contained quite a few tendons and that for €35.00? You would expect more. The price-quality ratio was therefore, in our opinion, in the wrong direction. But the entourage was fine!

The food was so bad that my teacher got very sick from it. They gave her a rotten duck leg, and then she was hospitalized. Because of that my class was canceled, which I found very unfortunate. This is unacceptable.

We were invited to a birthday party at Restaurant De Markt and what a great place it is! The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a cozy atmosphere. The food was really delicious. There was plenty of choice and everything was well prepared. You can really tell that they pay attention to the dishes. One small disadvantage I found was that it is very cramped. The tables are close together and the aisles are narrow. With a stroller or walker it is unfortunately difficult to move around. There is also not much to do for children, so I would not recommend it if you are going with a family. In short, you can eat delicious food there and it looks good, but if you come with children, it might be better to choose another place.

Quality of food was good, pizza would have needed another 30 seconds in the oven. No time after waiting 45 minutes.

The food is simply not good, poor in quality overall. We had a bland, gloomy looking and undercooked risotto and a pizza that was basically cardboard with tons of jalapeno with seeds, fried bacon and some undetermined cheese cream. The staff was friendly and polite, the venue looks interesting, but I will never go back to eat there.

Disappointed. Mediocre slow service at not so busy time. And when you sell “Caesar Salad” without romaine lettuce, loads and loads of cherry tomatoes, and mayo (it’s criminal to call it like that, but it’s not what was written in the menu), two stars are too many. The pizza was ok.

The pizza was delicious! Also very friendly staff. One point of improvement was that the part where I sat was less in the eye of the service, so you sometimes had to make some effort to be seen in order to order a drink, etc. Other than that, just a nice place with delicious food!

I can't say anything bad. The service was polite and diligent. It was obvious that it was hard for the staff on Friday evening, there were many guests, few staff. The food is mediocre. A little more salmon and sauce could have been added to the salad. Perhaps I was wrong with the dish. Carpaccio was mediocre. The atmosphere is pleasant. The price tag is average.

Not very atmospheric, the service was fine. The spaghetti carbonara, on the other hand, was not tasty, little to no flavor and the spaghetti was too much al dente. Very unfortunate.

Five stars because I enjoyed my time there! The food was pretty average - although I only had the soup. It was mushroom, tasted gritty - needs some cream. Less stock or salt - please! Service is fantastic and so was the atmosphere.

Had dinner here with friends on a busy Friday, great in every way! Smooth and friendly service, plenty of choice on the menu and the food was tasty for everyone. Price/quality also good. So recommended.

Had lunch here, and there were quite a few people, so I thought it would be good, but that was not the case. It is neat and reasonably cozy, but the carpacio and buratta sandwiches were without any taste and to make matters worse, there was still a sharp piece of plastic in the buratta sandwich...... and all that for almost 15 euros per sandwich...... never again for me.! Even if a sandwich costs 25 euros and it is a delicious sandwich, you won't hear me, but this was far below par in terms of taste, apart from the sharp piece of plastic The service was fast and friendly. If I look at the previous negative reviews for this restaurant, I will probably get a response from the team along the lines of: sorry to hear that it was not to your liking blah blah and will come again...... Forget it!!

Beautiful restaurant, lasagna is really tasty!

"Would you like something to eat or something to drink?" we are asked while we literally still have the door in our hands. "Um, let's sit down first." The young lady indicates that if we only have a drink, we can sit in the middle row. If we want to eat something, there is more choice and the tables are a bit larger. Before we can take a seat we are asked again. How strange. We haven't seen a map yet. It feels like a busy tourist spot where things are a bit pushy. No "good afternoon" or "welcome". I understand the logic, but the reception is anything but warm. By the way, we have been here before. It is an attractive affair. The service is never the friendliest, but they are fast. The place is packed on Saturdays. I can't share anything about the map because we haven't been able to look at it. And that's why I didn't eat anything.

Cozy tent with attentive service but unfortunately very mediocre food. We had a nice table with the 3 of us near the kitchen and were helped quickly. We had a large antipasti board and two of us had the pasta carbonara. The antipasti board was reasonable but with some strange choices (chicken legs and small pumpkin cubes?). The pasta carbonara was a specialty, but the guanciale was poorly cooked and mainly had a lot of white fat. Furthermore, the pasta lacked character, perhaps the egg/cheese ratio was not good or something. So this was unfortunately disappointing.

We had a delicious meal here with a large group of 10 people. The service was top notch, we lacked nothing. The food was very tasty and more than enough! There were also good alternatives for vegetarians and allergies. So all in all, it was well organized and we had a very nice evening!

Nice location and good food, but very busy. Lots of guests and you can hardly hear each other. Unfortunately, the waiter doesn't see you, so we didn't get any drinks. Ultimately I had to go to someone because they didn't see me and ordered tea. After tea I wanted the bill and there was no attention for that either. Finally paid at the bar. I was supposed to get the bill, but never received it. Second time I've been there and bad service twice.

Nice place in a nice location in the city. Very attractively decorated. Had pasta, it was very tasty but the portion was a bit small. My mother's risotto was a huge portion. Feels a bit inconsistent. Just a very decent place with a tasty bite.
