Nice location right in the city center. Had a delicious meal, but it is always terribly busy and you are sitting on top of each other.

The food was super tasty 🫶🏼💗❤️ but it took a really long time before my girlfriend and I could order. And even when we wanted to order, it still took a super long time before someone came to our table. The staff didn't make eye contact either and we didn't feel at ease.. we won't be coming back anytime soon.

Ordered a Chicken Caesar but it was a bit disappointing. The chicken wasn't tender but actually hard... the taste of the chicken was okay, so maybe that's how it's supposed to be...? Otherwise, a nondescript sandwich. Maybe I made the wrong choice, because the other sandwiches looked good and the atmosphere was fine too.

Had a lovely lunch. It was a great place to sit, easy to reach, and situated on a cozy street with restaurants and cafes. The food is fine, and the service is good.

An unplanned lunch for six, four adults and two children. The menu was reasonably extensive, with something for everyone. Though only two kids options, and in my opinion slightly overpriced at ~€13. They were also huge portions, I think they could reduce the portions and the price. The adult meals were lovely, and matched the price point in terms of quality. The carbonara was lovely with a great depth of flavour. I would wholeheartedly recommend.

⭐ 1/5 Our experience was very disappointing. The only redeeming feature was the children's spaghetti dish, which our daughter enjoyed. We also appreciated the friendliness of the waitresses and the restaurant's convenient location. However, the restaurant lacks air conditioning, and on a very hot day, eating there was quite unpleasant. Furthermore, they charge €5.95 for a 50cl bottle of water that appeared to be refillable, a completely disproportionate price for the amount served. Regarding the food, the value for money is very poor. The Parma ham pizza was overloaded but poorly prepared: the ingredients seemed simply placed on the dough, without any integration, resulting in a heavy and unappealing pizza. The tagliolini frutti di mare had too much oil and very little flavor. The carbonara was also unconvincing: we can distinguish between al dente pasta and undercooked pasta, and this was clearly hard, as well as bland. We had read other negative reviews, but unfortunately our experience surpassed them. We paid €92.65 for four people and left feeling that we had received far less quality than the price charged.

I was here for lunch during a day of shopping with my daughter. Cozy atmosphere, welcoming service, and I ate a delicious carpaccio sandwich. We recommend it, and will definitely be back!

De Markt is an Italian restaurant on a side street off the canal. The food is varied and leaves nothing to be desired. All the doors open onto the street and the garden, so there's always fresh air. We ate here every day during our vacation and will definitely come back.

Surprisingly nice place with pleasant service and tasty food

The carpaccio sandwiches were tasty but a bit small for the price you pay. The service, on the other hand, was super friendly, quick, and welcoming. Particularly noteworthy was the waiter Jorn, who helped us incredibly well despite the busyness.

One of the coolest looking bars I've seen in my life and I've been to thousands of them all over the world. Come, sit down, relax and have a drink at the amazing place. I had a delicious gin and tonic made with a local blueberry infused gin that is pictured below. So make sure to come here when you visit Utrecht

I had an entrecote. Of the 350 grams, at least 100 grams were fat. The rest wasn't very tender. The restaurant was very noisy!

We couldn't share a platter of individual bites as a starter. Strange. So when we received a double platter, we only got part of two pizzas as a main course. Then two arrived after all. We sent one back, and there were two on the bill again. So there is plenty of room for improvement in terms of service. We were seated at the back, overlooking the garden—a beautiful spot. The food was fine too.

Had a delicious meal. Ordered pork tenderloin but received the wrong dish. It was resolved properly; the pork tenderloin was on the table in less than 10 minutes, and some drinks were compensated. The pork tenderloin tasted delicious. Atmospheric and cozy restaurant. Good value for money.

I enjoyed the lagne and salad garnish dish on my visit here. It was packed, luckily, they managed to find us a table. Service was good and the waiter kept making sure we had drinks etc.

I went there with a friend of mine as a backup choice since the restaurant we wanted to go to was full. I ordered some white beer that was good, and a plate of raviolis. Mistake on this last part! Not only were they not particularly good, there were a grand total of 8 average sized raviolis... for 22€!!! My friend took some lasagnas that were in the norm in term of quantity so when our plates arrived we laughed at the look of mine compared to his... So to recap if you go there don't take the raviolis. Otherwise the service was good, no complaint on that part.

Unfortunately, very dissatisfied. We arrived here around 2:30 PM for lunch. I ordered the chicken Caesar sandwich, but both the bread and the chicken were dry. It seemed as if the bread was not fresh and/or had already been sliced ​​in the morning. The service was mediocre and not very interested when we pointed this out.

Whenever we're in Utrecht, we have lunch at De Markt. We recommend the classic bread and carpaccio. The atmosphere is very cozy, the service is friendly, and despite the crowds, your order is served quickly.

On the positives - the venue is lovely and the staff were very nice. Was a very busy Saturday night but the food wasn't great. Carbonara was like nothing I've ever tasted before but not in a good way. Possibly the bacon which had an usual strong flavor but I couldn't eat it. Swapped with another person in our group for pumpkin ravioli. That was just OK. Presentation of the food good but the food could have been warmer too. Great beer selection. So much potential but there are so many other restaurants that I wouldn't be going back.

A lovely Italian restaurant on Drieharingstraat in the center of Utrecht. I stumbled upon it by chance and was immediately intrigued by the narrow, charming street where it's located. The menu features classic Italian dishes like pizza and pasta, but surprisingly, also a sirloin steak. I enjoyed a delicious carpaccio and a Parma ham pizza—it's their classic, and for good reason.

Not worth it. We had cold pasta carbonara that had been microwaved. The recipe is very simple, and according to the menu, it's made with the original ingredients, but the taste was bland, the dish watery, and the portion too small. Despite previous bad reviews. The pumpkin ravioli was also cold and the portion too small. The wine came from a bottle that had been open for three days. The tiramisu barely reached a reasonable level. No apology or compensation, so no tip given. Spend your money elsewhere…

Upon arrival, you're greeted warmly and shown to a table. Our drinks arrived fairly quickly, and then we ordered our main course. The mozzarella pizza I received wasn't fully cooked, the tomato slices were cut far too thick, and half of the pizza was lukewarm. With all that, our waitress couldn't crack a smile when we were paying. All in all: mediocre atmosphere, bad food, and average service.

I've been here before, but last time the service was truly terrible. There were more empty tables than full, so it wasn't due to the crowds. After arriving, we waited 10-15 minutes, trying to get attention, before the waitress noticed us. We were sitting fairly within her line of sight, but she simply didn't look at the tables. We also had to wait another 20 minutes for two glasses of wine. We just left the rest. This is absolutely terrible service!!!

Big and busy place, with large groups

I had dinner with a friend at De Markt on Saturday. I chose the pumpkin ravioli. It was served on a large plate, with the pumpkin ravioli only covering the bottom. It was completely inadequate, and all that for the price of €19.95. I went in hungry and left hungry. Not recommended. Luckily, the snack bar was nearby, where I satisfied my hunger.

Cozy place. Seats are comfortable in the back, but it's a bit cramped if you sit at the tables in the middle. The carpaccio sandwich was okay, but I missed truffle mayo.

The food was delicious. I'm only giving it 3 stars because when I got home, I realized we paid €17.85 for three 0.5-liter carafes of water. €6 for half a liter of water is really overpriced, especially considering the wine we ordered.

Nice atmosphere, food could use a bit more attention

They should hire an actual cook. It's almost impressive how they produce a carbonara with 'authentic' ingredients that nevertheless does not have any of the flavours of a real carbonara...

The food is tasteless and in some cases the portions are small for the price. The staff doesn't clear away plates and cups (everything sits on the table for a very long time). The food takes 40-50 minutes to arrive. Carbonara, which is easy to make, was made with overcooked pasta, very raw and undercooked lard, and milk instead of any sauce. Lasagna was made of who knows what... a very unpleasant taste.

My partner and I had an excellent anniversary dinner at Restaurant De Markt. The food was divine, and the chef cooked my steak blue flawlessly. The cocktails were perfectly balanced and expertly made. The only element missing was background music, which would have further enhanced the atmosphere, though this may have been due to a high volume of patrons.

We've been here before, and once again the food was delicious, the service good, and the atmosphere pleasant. I think they could use less salt (on the salmon), but otherwise, no complaints. The service was reasonably quick and friendly, though sometimes perhaps a bit too verbose, but that wasn't a problem for us.

First, we asked four times that it was a birthday and if anything special could be done. Absolutely nothing. Main courses were mediocre. One steak was good, the other overcooked. The chicken in the Caesar salad was very dry. My wife's dish was mealy with a sauce that was very bland and tasteless. She mentioned this, but nothing was done about it. And they served us two portions of fries even though we had ordered one. Furthermore, it was very crowded and noisy at a table in the middle. The price-quality ratio was very poor. Unfortunately.

I had lunch at the market in Utrecht this afternoon. I ordered white bread carpaccio. After taking a few bites, a piece of my tooth broke off, and my tooth is also loose because of the hard crust of the bread :(. Other than that, the atmosphere and service were excellent!

We went to The Markt in Utrecht for my sister-in-law’s bachelorette party, and it couldn’t have been a better choice! The team put together a special menu for us with lots of dishes to try, and they were so friendly and flexible in helping us choose. The atmosphere and energy of the place were wonderful, and the location in the heart of Utrecht makes it super easy to reach. The restaurant itself is beautiful inside — definitely worth a visit even just for the setting. If you’re lucky with your table, you’ll also have a gorgeous view of the garden. Great food, warm service, and a perfect spot for a special evening!

I can't judge the food, as I didn't even get around to ordering! The three of us were led to a table in the back and sat down. In seven (!) minutes, we were passed countless times by busy and less busy staff, but apparently, we weren't exactly in anyone's neighborhood. When we got up to leave, someone rushed over. We said, "Since we weren't seen, we'll go next door," and the answer was, "Oh, OK." A nice evening. It didn't matter. Special.

The restaurant's atmosphere was simple and pleasant, but the way we were greeted and approached made our visit uncomfortable. Not all the service was unpleasant, but at times it was clear that someone wasn't really in the mood. We were allowed to choose our own table, but—while the baby was already eating—we were asked to move for no apparent reason. This felt unnecessary and somewhat unfriendly. A little later, during a pleasant moment with friends, we were asked in a gruff tone to make room, even though there was plenty of room and the restaurant was almost empty. The company still made the afternoon enjoyable, but the attitude of the service didn't really make anyone feel comfortable. As a result, my friends only had one drink.

Everything is great! Except for one waitress! The man was a bit grumpy and put everything down on the table very loudly. She was too chaotic and broke a glass.

For the price its not worth it, however, if its a good atmosphere you are looking for, I guess its fine to come here.
