Restaurant Naast De Markt in Wijk 06 Binnenstad

We went to De Markt in Utrecht after a long working day with colleagues and it was the perfect choice. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, great for both casual evenings and professional get‑togethers. The food was absolutely delicious – every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. We had a really great time here, everything from the friendly service to the relaxed vibe made it a memorable evening. I’ll definitely be coming back!

The atmosphere was great, the wines were good, but it did take a while to get them. Unfortunately, the tapas platter was a bit bland and lacked flavor, with very little bread/toast. The cheesecake was good, though. So, mixed experiences.

Nice location, cozy, but slow service.

We've had lunch here before, but this time it was a bit disappointing. We had a tuna sandwich and pulled chicken. Two sandwiches each, with only one side filled. This meant you had to spread your fillings across two sandwiches, leaving very little left over. The chicken was chicken without much dressing, but it was also ice cold. For that price, we expected a little more.

The food was fine, but give your cutlery a good polish—literally, a quick wipe with a tea towel—and it'll look ten times better. Otherwise, when you clear the plates, offer dessert, coffee, tea, or another beer; that'll sell more.

I ordered the gnocchi and it was basically tasteless. Seeing as all of the other food I’ve had in Utrecht has been delicious this was surprising to me with the 3.9 avg rating of this place. The atmosphere is great tho. This was easily the worst meal I had in the Netherlands and I’d recommend choosing somewhere else if you want a flavorful meal.

My rate: 2/5. It was busy so I thought the restaurant would be OK. I sat down for lunch. My pasta was very bad: tasteless and bland. The bread dish was not tasty too. Very disappointed! Not recommended!

Not really special really. Carbonara is tasteless and needed a good amount of salt and pepper to make it taste like anything. The carpaccio was okay but honestly I've had better one from Albert Heijn and prepared more at home. Service is nice but also not always the most attentive. Will not return.

We have had a nice meal here in the past. We usually took the Mercado plank for lunch, a combination of meat and fish dishes for 2 people (so not if you come to eat alone...). Unfortunately, last week was a bit disappointing: The Serano ham had a lot of balsamic sauce poured over it (not sprinkled), a waste of the ham. I wiped most of the sauce off with my napkin... The ham was tasty without sauce. Shrimps used to be served on this board, but now they were cold, somewhat tasteless mussels. I also thought there was too much raw carrot on the shelf. Unfortunately, no longer the quality and taste we were used to here. We were also surprised that we could only pay by card. When we left, we saw the sticker 'pay by card only' on the door outside at our knees (..). It might be useful to put this somewhere visible on the menu.

Pleasantly large and busy, the quality of the food was medium - but that's to be expected with such an extensive menu and these prices. DO NOT take the ravioli with mussels, very dry, no flavor or sauce, I honestly found it difficult to eat even though I was really hungry. When I politely pointed this out, it wasn't really taken seriously, so I'm afraid the chef is still making the same dish.

It was the worst experience in my life. We ordered very simple food: pizza and lasagne. The quality was very poor and ingredients were not very fresh. We could not eat our food. When we asked for the bill a waiter told us that the system was broken and therefore the bill could not be printed. We just got an amount to be paid. I insisted on getting more information on the price. It turned out that we were charged for a side dish we did not order. The waiter refused to adjust the bill saying that we were eating it. To be honest I don’t mind paying for something i eat but i was not informed that this was not part of our dishes plus the quality was really bad. I STRONGLY suggest not to come to this restaurant!!!!tourist trap!!!

Cozy atmosphere and friendly service. Delicious lasagna with a tasty salad. If I am in Utrecht again, I will definitely go here again.

The restaurant is nicely decorated, the service is nice. The mixed antipasti platter was delicious. Unfortunately the wrong food was brought, so two people had to eat alone because the others had already had their food. Unfortunately there was hardly any tuna on the tuna pizza, but there was a lot of fried onions. The duck breast was good. Toilets are clean. Dogs are allowed into the restaurant.

Heerlijk eten, fijne bediening, comfortabele stoelen, wat wil een mens nog meer.

La hamburguesa super gigante y sabrosa, el ribeye también realmente bueno al igual que el sashimi de atún con mogollón de avíos.

Tastefull dishes properly explained by the personal and served fast. The restaurant itself had a nice atmosphere with some music tuned at an appropriate level to be able to enjoy it or to have a nice conversation across the table

Hier met een vriendin op vrijdag geluncht. De bediening was top en snel, en het eten was goed. De lokatie is perfect in het centrum van Utrecht en ziet er leuk uit.

Went with a big group (group reservation) and the food was very well prepared/tasty. The starter(s) were very nice and the main dish completed the overall experience. The dessert was tasty.

Na een bezoek aan de Jaarbeurs in dit restaurant terechtgekomen. Erg druk en heel veel lawaai. Kennelijk erg in trek bij studenten en dagjesmensen. Bediening erg chaotisch. Alles loopt door elkaar heen. Wel 6 verschillende dames en heer aan ons tafeltje gehad. De een noteert de bestelling op een papiertje om vervolgens door weer een ander geserveerd te worden. Is je glas bijna leeg, dan staat er iemand bij je om te vragen of je nog wat wil. Niet veel later gevolg door de ander. Maar als je wat besteld hebt, duurt het wel een tijd voordat het geserveerd wordt. Kennelijk is glazen ophalen de grootste prioriteit. Ook als het menu geserveerd wordt is dat met tussenpozen. Wij waren al op de helft toen de frietjes pas kwamen. Het eten op zich is prima. Wel klopte het niet wat ik besteld had. Kabeljauw besteld maar kreeg iets wat volgens mij twee roodbaars filetjes waren. Was in de veronderstelling dat het meisje dat overigens pas een dag in dienst was, het verkeerd verstaan had. Maar nee hoor het stond goed op de rekening. Kan gebeuren. Men is in bezit van een mobiel pinapparaat, dat echter zoek was. Meegelopen naar de bar. Daar staat er een met een “vaste lijn”. Deze is door de gasten moeilijker mee te nemen aldus dame nummer 7. Al met al weer een ervaring. Wil je rustig, of misschien wel romantisch eten, loop hier dan snel voorbij.

Nette zaak met smakelijk eten, gerechten worden als een mooi plaatje opgediend.

When you walk by the place is always packed. Decent food and a nice atmosphere with a garden in the back.

Eten was slecht gevallen. Niet voor herhaling vatbaar. Maar eerlijk is eerlijk ze waren wel zo correct dat ze ons uit te nodigen voor een drankje en een hapje.

The restaurant is located in the Drieharing street. It is a cozy small street with nice restaurants. The athmosphere is nice, you can either sit on the street side (only few tables because the street is small) or at the garden side, or just inside. The food (main dish) could be better, but maybe for the price asked that's ok. Anyway, if you come just for tasting the atmosphere of drieharing with some beer or wine and a table, the place is nice. If you expect food, there are better places.
