We ate here several times during our holiday. The service was very friendly and always with a smile, even when it was busy. We tried a variety of dishes and were always satisfied. The portions were plenty large for us. The Spanish-style mussels are absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend making a reservation. Thank you!

After a bike ride across Schouwen-Duiveland, we came down here to try the regional dish, mussels, and it exceeded our expectations. We had a delicious meal and were served in a friendly manner. The prices were reasonable, but definitely on the more expensive side.

Ate mussels prepared in the traditional way and a tasty schnitzel. At De Meeuw, you can sit outside, under cover, or inside. Super friendly staff. Highly recommended. Tip: Be sure to make a reservation to avoid disappointment.

We had reserved a table. When we arrived, we were seated at a standing table. We were confused because several tables were still free. It took ages before we could even order anything. After 1.5 hours, we pointed out the more comfortable tables, which were still unoccupied. After a brief discussion, we were allowed to move. Up to this point, we still hadn't received any food. Even when we paid, several tables were still empty! There was nothing wrong with the food itself. We had really been looking forward to the evening. Unfortunately, the poor service meant we had to cut our visit short and go home without dessert or any further drinks.

Had another delicious meal. This time I had the salmon cannelloni, highly recommended! I really love coming here, also because of the very friendly service. Thank you again 🌷

There was a sign at the front, so we waited patiently while people of both Dutch and German just walked right through, apparently day-trippers. But we were refused entry: my girlfriend, me, and her son.??? Ridiculous, especially since there was plenty of room and visibly empty spots!

Disappointing, asking for drinks. Dinner was not served complete. Mussels were served without sauces and without an extra plate. In between courses, the wait staff also did not ask if everything was to our liking. Finally, had to wait a long time to pay the bill; eventually, they just pressed the money into her hand!

We made a reservation at De Meeuw yesterday. We ordered Rivella, Bitterlemon, and wine for drinks. Rivella and Bitterlemon were unavailable, so we ended up with two glasses of wine and a Coke, plus a small carafe of tap water. The lady who took our order left and returned a few minutes later with the message that the owner allowed her to serve two glasses of tap water with the wine, but that only a glass of red or blue Spa could be served with the Coke... Apparently, this brasserie is doing so poorly financially that they cannot spare those three and a half euros for a bottle of Spa. The menu, which can be found on the website, states that they also serve sole; this also turned out to be incorrect. The food was reasonable, not exceptional, but it bears no relation to the high prices. The only positive thing was the extremely friendly lady who helped us. I see in other less favorable reviews that the owner writes "tell me on the spot," which we did, but the owner had no interest in listening to us.

Please look at the date for some reviews, there was a change of owner last year. I don't understand where the recent negative reviews come from, we had a wonderful experience. The waitress was very observing and friendly, one of the cooks who also helped serving food is a super friendly guy. Food was better then we did expect from a "Brasserie". Good quality, fair portions. And the staff did a special treat for my birthday 🎂 😋 We will definitely come back.

First of all, the food tastes very good, but the portions are quite small. With a fish platter, one of the most expensive dishes on the menu, I received a portion of fries and a side salad, both of which I had to share with my companion. So, without an appetizer, you definitely won't get full, and then you're easily looking at €50 per person.

Unfortunately, we had to leave because it took forever to get our drinks. It felt like an eternity. We received our meal tickets right at the beginning, but unfortunately, after more than half an hour, no one came to take our order. We were there with children. Other guests weren't impressed either. Since we were two families, it wasn't even possible to split the drinks bill... What a shame.

My husband and I had a delicious meal here! A tasty Spanish mussel pot with creamy mussels and chorizo, a bread board with plenty of spreads, and crispy fries. The sangria was truly perfect, with exactly the right balance of flavors and full of fresh fruit. We will definitely be back again; highly recommended!

A very cozy restaurant with super friendly staff, and the owner also helps out; a super nice man. And the food: I had the fish soup and it was of outstanding quality and packed with fish. I will visit this restaurant more often.

Our experience was quite disappointing. Although we were served very kindly and had a great spot outside, the food was a huge letdown. The descriptions of the dishes promised too much. The food was simple and mediocre. Not necessarily bad, but for the price charged, certainly not recommended.

I found it disappointing, to be honest... there were a lot of small mussels among them... they were often hard to get out of the shell and I found them a bit tough (not all of them, though) but still... if I compare it to when I ate mussels there a year ago, it went from a 9.5 to a 5. A shame.

You can sit inside or outside, but reservations are recommended. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Even though we hadn't reserved, they made an effort to find us a table. The food arrived quickly and tasted delicious. There should be something for everyone on the menu. We'd gladly come back.

We had a wonderful meal at De Meeuw! We were received incredibly warmly, and owner Ad was a fantastic host. It is clear from everything that he is passionate about his business and pays a lot of attention to his guests. Unfortunately, I can't comment on the food or anything else. We wanted to eat there with six people. Unfortunately, we were told that everything was fully booked, even though half the tables were empty. There wasn't even a sign indicating that they were reserved.

Very good restaurant with a very hospitable and enthusiastic owner. We ate delicious oysters, and there are lovely dishes on the menu that aren't on the menu. It is certainly worth visiting De Meeuw for lunch, dinner, or just for a nice drink.

A huge missed opportunity. Friendly staff, yes, but subpar culinary-wise. Mussels are only available during the commercially invented season (June, etc.), even though they're literally 30 meters from the water and the mussel farms. Fried mussels are available, so they come from a jar. I ordered them anyway, with Zeeland bacon, which wasn't included... because it was also a garnish for another main course, they were probably trying to ration it. It was politely corrected, but then the rest was cold, of course. No big deal, there wasn't much flavor anyway. Sounds like a complaint, but... You can't, for example, give an awkward toothpaste tube of mayonnaise with the fries without asking and then put it separately on the bill. A raw carrot as a garnish on warm mashed potatoes almost broke my knife... Apparently, the number one rule of the kitchen—don't put anything on a plate that isn't meant for eating—is still unknown here. Either the chef is new to the job tonight or this is overpriced quackery -> The truth will probably be somewhere in the middle, but never again.

Seven people went to this restaurant for a 40th wedding anniversary dinner. We had made a reservation in advance and were warmly welcomed by the staff. We enjoyed a starter, main course, and dessert, followed by coffee. Every course was excellent and delicious. The venison steak with red wine sauce is highly recommended. So delicious and tender, a real treat! We thoroughly enjoyed the dishes. We even spoke to the chef (owner) and complimented him. What a fantastic place it's become under the new owners. We ate there twice in one week. The weekly special, venison steak, was deliciously tender, and mussels were a must-try during our visit to Bruinisse. The atmosphere and decor are very cozy, and the service is incredibly friendly. Nothing but praise for this charming restaurant with excellent food. Highly recommended if you're in the village! We'll be back soon when we're back in the Netherlands. What fantastic people at Brasserie De Meeuw! Last Saturday, I spent the entire afternoon here because our swimming club was allowed to use Brasserie De Meeuw as the final stop for a puzzle run for 80 people. Afterward, we decided to stay for dinner with 18 people. That was no problem either: the food was delicious, everything served promptly and with a genuine smile. Ad, thank you for the excellent service. We'd love to come back next time. You have a wonderful restaurant.

An outstanding restaurant. We had a birthday party there with 10 people. The food was top-notch. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was really cozy. We all felt very comfortable. The next day, we went back for dinner with six people, and it was top-notch again. The owner even treated us to a cocktail at the end. It was wonderful.

I ordered mussels with the intention of enjoying them. Unfortunately, it wasn't. The mussels were tasteless, and there wasn't even a pleasant mussel aroma. Furthermore, I had a total of 15 that were completely closed. I wouldn't recommend them.

Yes, I would eat here again. The food is very good, and the service is very friendly. The restaurant was full, and we just barely managed to get a seat. Despite the large number of guests, we received friendly service. The fact that my son finished his portion of fish is the highest compliment to the kitchen. You can tell that the young staff still needs some training. So, a big compliment to the employee who had to coordinate everything that evening.

A lovely restaurant with outdoor seating, under the veranda, and indoor seating. There are lounges where you can only get drinks, but you'll be informed of this as soon as you sit down. The service is friendly. Dogs are not allowed inside the restaurant, however.

Ideal for cooked mussels. The salad bar is okay. Otherwise, nothing to write home about. The spare ribs were tasteless. The fried mussels were too greasy. The kids' menu was very limited. Some of the staff were inexperienced, so orders didn't get through correctly. So, it was a one-time thing. We definitely won't be back.

Saturday 14 June had a lovely meal. After a day at the beach at the Brouwersdam we were looking for a nice restaurant where we could eat a pan of mussels. In 2023 we already visited this lovely restaurant and thought I would give them a call because the mussel season had not yet started. I got a cheerful lady on the line and told us that she still had mussels left over from a wine tasting. She was willing to serve them to us. She politely asked how many people we were and kept them aside for us. We enjoyed the mussels. I am very happy with the service of the restaurant. We will definitely come back here.

We ate here every day of our entire vacation last year! The food was very good and the service very friendly! Today, the first day we arrived, we went straight there. Unfortunately, we weren't allowed in! Despite plenty of free seats, which obviously weren't all reserved, we were told that the kitchen was short of staff and we would be turned away! A real disappointment! We definitely won't be back!

Good cuisine and friendly staff. We came without a reservation and got a table after just over an hour. The starter came quite quickly (very tasty lobster soup), but then the worm was in there. Apparently we were forgotten and it was only after our questioning looks that people became aware. We then waited almost 1.5 hours for the main course. There was no further communication about this and only a short sorry. So you should definitely make a reservation to avoid any problems.

I can only recommend the restaurant, we were there for the second time and made reservations in advance for 8 people from Germany without any problems. Very nice and quick contact. Food of great quality, with the Zeuwse fish soup a lot of ingredients and super tasty. For the main course, both the mussels and the steak skewer were great and the brownie for dessert was a poem. We'll definitely be back!

Food was tasty. Friendly waitresses who can handle children. Our eldest loved the venison steak. All children really enjoyed the cheese croquettes. The atmosphere could be a little better with a tablecloth, which looks a bit more luxurious and cozy.

Zu jedem Essen gehört Salat....und nicht irgendwelcher....hier gibt's frische Salate nach Haustezept. Weißkohl mit Rosinen ist mein Favorit. Und als Hauptgang Scholle oder Muscheln....lecker und nicht zu teuer

A place suitable for an entertaining lunch or brunch/dinner. Unfortunately, when the weather was beautiful, guests were turned away from the outdoor area because of a supposed storm warning. However, there was no storm for the rest of the day.
