Affordable lunch dishes, including the meatball in its gravy, which was delicious. Two slices of bread and a small salad. Exceptionally friendly service. Clean restrooms and ample parking.

Today, during our annual stay in Giethem, we ate at the Nieuwe Brug again. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. The bread board contained really old bread, both the (fried?) buns and the slices of bread. Only the brown bread was deliciously fresh. We didn't eat any more and mentioned it to the staff. The only comment was that they would pass it on to the kitchen. No solution was offered. My husband had a schnitzel, which he loved. The size was also generous. I had spareribs, but they were also dry and covered in a thick layer of dry herbs. The meat did come off the bone easily. I scraped off the herbs and ate the meat without mentioning it to the staff. After these experiences, we decided to skip dessert and have coffee at home. At the checkout, we paid €64 for these three dishes and two soft drinks. Again, no solution was offered for the bread board. It's a shame, because we've had delicious meals here on all our other occasions.

Delicious food, friendly service. Schnitzel and pork ribeye were tender and simply excellent. Fried potatoes with fresh vegetables, fries, and salad. A glass of wine was included. Delicious ice cream or coffee to finish. Definitely worth repeating.

A lovely rest stop for cyclists and hikers. Large terrace and playground. If the weather isn't so good, there's room in the conservatory. Excellent menu. Also a suitable meeting and party venue. Updated September 2025. The highlight of the pancake list has been conquered. Savory: onion, bacon, mushrooms, and egg. Fantastic.

We had a wonderful meal. Went back twice to eat fried liver with bacon and onions with friends. Delicious and more than enough with fries, fried potatoes, and two kinds of fresh vegetables. Excellent and reasonably priced. We recommend this restaurant.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The playground is large and has lots of fun, with all that old-fashioned play equipment. The food was also excellent, simply delicious.

We often came here during our motorcycle rides for coffee and lunch, but the terrace is now completely smoke-free. Poorly signposted. In hindsight, there's a sticker on the window. It's a shame there wasn't a corner available on the large terrace. So, never again.

Had a delicious lunch on the terrace. Beautifully presented plates for a surprisingly low price. The food was all fresh and delicious. A really fun and large enclosed playground for the kids. They also had a wide selection of pancakes for the kids instead of the standard toasted sandwich. Of course, there's also a wide selection for adults. Definitely worth a stop.

Not great, but not bad either. There are better restaurants in the area. One point of attention is the extractor fan in the kitchen. During our visit, the entire restaurant was blue and the clothes could be washed after eating.

Ik ben in het algemeen zeer teleurgesteld in de Nieuwe Brug. De ligging is mooi en het ziet er gezellig uit. Maar helaas zijn er ook dingetjes, waar ik niet zo happy mee ben. Ten eerste: Als je cappuccino koffie besteld krijg je van die instant automatenkoffie geserveerd. Tenminste, dat is mijn ervaring. Ik vind die koffie niet lekker. Ten tweede: op een mooie zomerdag wilden wij gaan lunchen. We hadden frisdrank en broodjes besteld. Het duurde echter wel erg lang voordat we ons eten kregen Op een gegeven moment zag ik dat mensen, die na ons kwamen, hun eten al opgediend kregen. Uiteindelijk ging ik maar vragen waar ons eten bleef. Ik kreeg te horen dat ze die vergeten waren. De kelner haalde daarbij zijn schouders op en zei dat dit kon gebeuren. Alsof dit heel normaal is, dat je klanten vergeet. We hebben toen ons drinken afgerekend en zijn weggegaan. Ten derde: de laatste keer dat we er kwamen werden we erg onvriendelijk onthaald door een jonge vrouwelijke mederwerkster. Het mag duidelijk zijn: Hier kom ik niet meer terug

After waiting 15 minutes we left again. The service, including the owner, is busy with other things than asking new guests what they want to eat. This could be very different.

Voordat we naar een voorstelling gingen wilden we graag nog iets eten. Vooraf had ik geprobeerd de menukaart op mijn telefoon te bekijken, maar kreeg dit niet geopend. . Daarom zelf de menukaart gepakt om alvast keuze te maken zodat we sneller konden bestellen. Dit werd duidelijk niet gewaardeerd, want hierdoor duurde het zeker 20 minuten voordat ze onze bestelling kwamen opnemen, terwijl aan de tafels naast ons wel gevraagd werd of gasten nog iets wilden drinken. Daarom besloten niets te bestellen, want dan kwamen we te laat bij de voorstelling. Zeer teleurstellend.

Upon arrival we were shown to the table and immediately ordered drinks. Around us, several tables are still full of plates and glasses from previous guests. Little attention is paid to this. About 25 minutes later the menus arrive on the table. About 45 minutes later we can actually order something. In between, people from the service pass by several times, but apparently we were invisible.. Even an attempt to speak is ignored. After ordering was finally successful, we waited another 35/40 minutes for the food to arrive. (3 pancakes and a snitzel) There is now a playground, but with smaller children this really takes too long. In addition, I didn't really feel welcome, I couldn't even say good evening. Food itself was ok. Snitzel was big and tastes like a snitzel. Side dishes (potatoes, fries and vegetables) were also ok. Child pancake nice and small and plenty of toppings included.

In itself a beautiful spot as a stopover during a walk. Unfortunately, the service and food were not up to par today. The waitress forgot to enter the order, so nothing came. Ordered again after waiting 20 minutes, the waitress came back a little later saying they no longer had what I ordered. Ordered something else and it was served fairly quickly. Unfortunately, a different sandwich was served than ordered and the "lightly thickened asparagus soup" was so thick that you could wallpaper with it. I think we were just unlucky, the people around us were helped quickly and seemed to enjoy the food. Better luck next time?

Friendly service. Cozy terrace with lots of children playing. It took an age to get our food. Understand that it is busy and that there are few kitchen staff. Then employ one of the many young people serving. Report it to your guests. Then they will have fewer problems with it. Food was fine and prices reasonable.

We had to wait a really long time before we were helped and had to wait 40 minutes before we got the pancakes. We sat for a total of 2 hours and other people went first.

Mediocre food. Mustard soup is tasty. Beef steak quite dry. Spare ribs were good. Schnitzel tasteless. Cheap fries. Baby potatoes were those dirty, slippery pre-cooked "baby potatoes" from a bag. For the money they ask you get a very mediocre product in return. I also don't understand why the reviews are so high, there are so many better restaurants in the Ommen area. Once and never again.

Delicious food, large portions and very affordable. Menu with many different choices, no culinary delights but just good food. The only downside is the service. If they had been a little more attentive, we would have ordered an extra drink and dessert. Now it took too long for them to clear the table.

Beautiful location with many tall trees all around, right on the Regge. Fancy a coffee with perhaps something to add during a walk? Found a nice sunny spot on the terrace. We were helped 10 minutes after arrival. Unfortunately, my wife's question whether a cappuccino with oat milk was possible was answered with a curt 'no' and I was just able to order an espresso for myself. But before I could say that I would also like an apple pie, she was already gone. I left it that way, because I didn't feel like chasing it down. The girl who later brought us the coffee was very attentive.

I would have liked to describe my impressions of the food, but this was successfully prevented by the service staff. We arrived at the restaurant around 7:05 p.m. with 4 people (3 Germans and 1 Dutch) and 4 dogs (2 French bulldogs, 1 Vizsla and a medium-sized mix) after a nice bike ride. We knew from the homepage that food can only be ordered until 7:30 p.m. The question as to whether we could still eat something on the terrace was initially answered in the negative because all the tables were occupied. We were about to leave again when a waitress told us that a table would soon be available. After locking the bikes, we sat down at the assigned table. We waited in vain to be able to order something until 7:20 p.m., whereupon our Dutchman went into the restaurant to catch a waitress. She then came to our table and took the drink order. When we asked her to bring us a menu, the response was that she had to first ask the kitchen whether it was still possible to order food. At 7:25 p.m. she informed us that the kitchen had already closed. I have been spending vacations in the Netherlands for over 30 years and have been regularly visiting friends in the Netherlands for the past 9 years. I can't remember such an outrageous action and equally customer-unfriendly behavior.

A nice place where we had a very relaxed meal with our 2 small children. Plenty of choice on the menu for them and for us too. The spacious fenced playground was ideal for waiting, which did not last long.

It was an afternoon back in time: an outdated playground that really needs to be mowed. Only in the women's toilet is it possible to change a child on a very dirty changing mat, so my husband and child went there. Sugar bowls are placed on the table without lids, so it was immediately full of flies. Unfortunately the pancake was burnt. There was no children's cutlery for the children. Very remarkable for a restaurant with a playground. We also had to wait a very long time before our order was taken, but the staff was friendly.

Lovely setting, but what I liked best was that it brought me back in time. Not only the portions, but also how it was served. Two types of potatoes on a stove together with cauliflower (haven't seen that in ages), a bowl with salad en then your plate with for example meat or fish. Definitely not a tiny piece! So be aware: come hungry otherwise you'll have a hard time emptying your plate.

Very nice family atmosphere, recommended to eat with children because of its own large playground next to/behind the restaurant with a fence with good supervision. The food itself was very tasty, especially in terms of quality and price. Service is good, staff friendly and tidy.

We ate here with a group of about 15 people. We were put in a corner where no one else was sitting, which was not pleasant. There is a playground for the children which is ideal! We were given 3 warming plates, but vegetables and fries were placed on 2 plates, which we had to share with 16 people. Food was fine but nothing special. The most annoying thing was that we had to go to the bar ourselves to ask if we could order drinks because there had been empty glasses for a while.
