Restaurant 'De Bootsman' in Stegeren

During a motorcycle trip, I stopped at De Bootsman for a cappuccino and apple pie. The terrace was lovely. The service was quick and friendly. A nice place for a stopover.

We had a delicious meal at De Bootsman in Stegeren. The service was very friendly and efficient. Highly recommended! If we lived nearby, we would definitely come here more often!

Just had dinner at this restaurant at 12 o'clock. We sat on the lovely outdoor terrace. Excellent service and friendly staff. With thick slices of freshly baked bread and an extra egg, it would have been perfect. Nothing wrong with that!

This is an old-fashioned restaurant. Many of the guests are over 60. The bread beforehand wasn't good, and the sole was a complete failure (no flour, tasteless). The sirloin steak was fine, the pepper sauce was awful. But the large carrots and string beans, boiled without seasoning, were simply unavoidable. The kids had chicken nuggets and fries. The chicken nuggets were truly mediocre, with hardly any flavor. Sorry, the kitchen needs a clean sweep. So, skip it. The service was very friendly and very kind, but the food was truly awful.

Highly recommended! We chose the mussels, and they were truly exquisitely prepared—exactly as they should be. Deliciously fresh, perfectly seasoned, and served with care. What made the experience extra special was the service: genuinely friendly, enthusiastic, and incredibly attentive. You can tell they enjoy their work and truly go the extra mile to ensure you have a wonderful evening. In short: delicious food, a warm atmosphere, and top-notch service. Lovely terrace 100 metres from our holiday home. We had a lovely meal here on my wife's birthday. Our dog is also welcome and immediately stole the hearts of the staff.

As always, friendly welcome, great food. Don't change anything and we'll keep coming back.

Went here for dinner last weekend. The starter was delicious, the main course the Mix grill was very bad, the steak medium cooked was very dry and had no taste, the pork tenderloin was dry and tasteless as were the spare ribs, they didn't have the potatoes that were on the menu. The vegetables the carrots had white flakes on them so old, the broccoli was brown and yellow. Everything looked old certainly not fresh. I would drive past it!!

De plek zelf is gezellig. Voor het eten hoef je t niet te doen. Tenminste als je goed eten wilt hebben. Ze hebben een heel belangrijke ingrediënt vergeten : liefde. En dat is te proeven. Jammer geld....

Alles was gewoon bacher de schnitzel was lauw/koud en ik gaf het aan bij de serveerster en die bracht het weer naar de keuken en 't leek alsof ik er 1 uit het frituur kreeg 1 vette hap

Prima asperges en spareribs gegeten. Fijne en attente bediening door een team van jonge mensen en een iets oudere mevrouw. Aanrader, wij gaan er binnenkort zeker weer eten.

We visited with 6 adults and 5 children, all paying customers.. We kindly asked if we can put 3 tables together and the lady couldn't stop telling us how irritating that is and that we will reorder the entire terrace (we would not) and that is so annoying and cannot happen and she can't even agree on letting us have enough chairs for everyone... No further comments. This is entitlement to the next level. Food super average.

The caputino is put in a preheated cup and with warm frothed milk. That is delicious and nice and warm.

Nice place to have a drink (after walking). Fast and good service and a delicacy. My daughter wanted a babaychino, they didn't have them, but she had no problem making them. Thanks for that!

it was disappointing today too few/too young staff. After waiting 20 minutes, I got my drink myself. Tables were not removed and the terrace was not swept, flower boxes were desolate. It's a shame, it's such a beautiful location

Delicious meal with a group of 12, service smooth and friendly, we sat inside. Inside it was nice and spacious, outside there was a large terrace with nice seats and tables. I ordered the veal escalope myself, it was nice and tender and the taste was excellent.

Nice restaurant that has just changed owners, but the food is still excellent. It is actually always busy during the week.

No plant-based milk for coffee! You must be lactose intolerant! Unfortunately for me, no coffee here (I was really looking forward to it). And while a liter of oat milk costs less than €2... Please keep up with the times.

Heerlijk gegeten, genoten van de schnitzel met champignons roomsaus. Vaak zijn schnitzels droog en taai, maar hier bij de bootsman lekker mals. Mooie groente garnituur erbij en goede gefrituurde aardappeltjes. De erbij geserveerde salade had wat meer dressing mogen hebben. Kennelijk kwamen we op het spitsuur binnen en waren er te weinig mensen in de bediening. Het duurde best wel lang voordat we begroet werden en wat te drinken konden bestellen. Helaas merkte we dat het service systeem niet goed werkte (vanwege tekort aan personeel) en het daardoor wat langer duurde voordat je kon bestellen of het bestelde uitgeserveerd werd. Maar op een zomerse avond blijft het een heerlijk terras met lekker eten. Zeer zeker een aanrader.

Very tasty food. The spare ribs were very tender and tasty and the meat on the grill plate was also tender and juicy.

Food was fine. I personally found the Carpacio mediocre and very thick and tough. And the pork tenderloin was overcooked. Spare ribs were fine. Service was also fine. A tip to injury is that you also give the children's card if there are children with you.

Mooie locatie, gezellig restaurant, topbediening en heerlijk gegeten. Echt waar voor je geld. We hebben daardoor echt genoten van ons dagje uit in Ommen en omgeving.

If you want to go out to eat away from the "Der kleine Wolf" campsite and are hungry for ribs or New German "Spare Rips", you're in good hands here. My BBQ ribs were incredibly tender, lightly smoked and tasted amazing. Plus a small salad and fries. There was pizza for the children or, if you wanted, ribs as a children's portion. Price-performance ratio is completely fine. We were here a total of 3 times and each time we returned to the place satisfied and full.

Reserved for Christmas brunch On Facebook and other menu than on their website, the menu was taken from their website. When we started with the brunch we discovered that it was a very different brunch than the one we expected.... not what we read on their website. When we asked if anything had changed about the brunch, they said no, that's what was on Facebook. After asking questions in the kitchen, they found out that they had changed the menu/brunch on the Facebook site, but not on their website (where we looked). So unfortunately a Christmas brunch that was not really to our liking/taste. When paying (very nice and friendly service) I at least expected that they had done something with it. That we had 2 people with us, who I really didn't like anything that was on this brunch. Better next year.

Came here 1 to 2 times a month in the past, never had anything to complain about. I thought it had subsided a bit last July and I haven't been back for 3 months. Last Friday 20/10 we ate at the Boatsman again. Inexperienced staff, cheerless atmosphere and not busy at all. The food was no longer what we were used to. Shame !!!

Nice lunch address during your bike ride.

I mainly come here for the delicious food and the beautiful location and we like to go here to enjoy fresh juice and/or a sandwich/snack board/pastry on the terrace. We never actually sit inside, which is not pleasant. If you are used to good service, then unfortunately you have not come to the right place. Ordering takes forever 9 times out of 10. Unfortunately, the young staff really don't know how things work in the catering industry and don't pay attention at all. It very often happens that we are sitting somewhere and yesterday even 5 other tables were served before us, even though we were there much earlier. Once you have finally ordered, the drinks generally arrive quickly. You really have to take your time when paying. They just don't come around. Even after indicating several times that you want to pay, it still seems to be very difficult. I now just walk straight in to pay, if there is no queue then it's smoothest. To end on a positive note; The mixed snacks (12 pcs. € 10.00) are highly recommended. Simply good quality and delicious!

There's no point in meeting at 7 p.m. After waiting 20 minutes without a drink or menu, while other guests came in later and were helped immediately, we were not helped. Only a small apology was possible. Opportunity missed. Inexperienced operation.

Spare ribs not very tasty. Schnitzel nothing special either. Is the cook sometimes on holiday? Nice place to sit outside, but for that price of €23 you have to be served a nice meal.

Service was inexperienced. The food was really substandard and the prices certainly did not match the quality. 23 euros for spare ribs is very pricey. The dish was disappointing. Little taste and dry. 1 rib on a plate. The coleslaw tasted bad, side dishes and sauces were very poor. Nothing special for a particularly high price. The table was half cleared after the starter. Waited an hour for the main courses. And no service for drinks in between. I can't recommend it.

Enjoyed No chicken with vegetables from the wok. Have the chili sauce served separately, because it is quite spicy. Pork tenderloin was good. Tasty fries and salad. The Arretjescake ice cream (chocolate ice cream) was delicious. Friendly and fast employees. Sufficient clean toilets on the ground floor.

Not like it was a year ago...the staff doesn't know what they are doing and the food was certainly not what we were used to. Unfortunately our last visit...we are going to visit another beautiful place.

Unfortunately we were not received too enthusiastically as we walked onto the terrace around 7.30 pm to eat. Ordered slip sole, all three of which were so poorly cooked that I left the last one as it was falling apart. This was indicated during payment, I passed it on and the answer was a nice evening... Our first experience here was a game stew full of boar hair, which turns out to be normal, we then understood from the waiter/cook that this is a game stew. Too bad because the restaurant has a beautiful terrace and is just around the corner from home for us. But next time we will definitely choose a different restaurant.

No clean tables, if they hadn't had time for that, they said, I would have had it already. We picked up a cloth ourselves to clean. I don't want to say more about it. I think if you take your order you can clean the table with just a few strokes.
