Fast and minimalist service. The dining menu isn't extensive. It's a great way to satisfy a hunger pang.

the food was overpriced and not good. the 200ml sprite cost 3.40. but the view and atmosphere is amazing.

The terrace offers a beautiful view of the Zaanse Schans. However, you're next to a busy bridge with lots of traffic. The terrace is basic and not very trendy or comfortable. It's not a place for drinks. Many tourists come here for a bite to eat, though. Pizza (available 24/7) or pancakes. You order at the kiosk and pick up your food on a tray there.

Tap-watergated. Sorry I did not know how to ask for "tap-tap-water". I've visited this place three times. The first visit was especially memorable; we went to Zaanse Schaans for my wife's birthday, and the manager made sure we had a great experience. The second visit was uneventful. It's a lovely spot, perfect for a relaxing lunch by the river, watching the windmills in the distance on a sunny day. After living in the Netherlands for three years, it is very normal to know the expectations. We had a decent lunch and ordered some drinks. I asked them for tap water right before leaving and they brought it to the table. They charged us for water. When I asked the waitress, she said, yes this 6 euro is the charge for the water and was not willing to discuss this. I definitly wanted to sort it out just to be sure that they definitely messed it up. I went to the bar counter to discuss this and a woman just said "yes we gave you filtered water". Me: I asked for tap water. I do not expect you to charge me for this Her: Yes this is tap water. When a customer asks us for tap water, we give them filtered tap water. Me: You did not confirm it from me. I asked for tap water, not filtered water Her: If you want free tap water, you should have mentioned that I want "tap-tap water". Me: Is this how you order water in a restaurant you visit? Her: I only go to fine dining restaurants. I don't mind paying five or ten euros for a bottle of water. Me: <Facepalm> This continued for a few minutes and a few staff members wanted to comment on it. She rudely shooed the guy who actually took my order away. I decided to just let it be.

Nice as an atmosphere and in its products. I recommend it if you happen to pass by

Great Italian restraunt at the shore of Zaanshe schans with seating on the inside as well as outside the restraunt. Margherita pizza was good.

As a local I say: don't go here. The food is really bad and expensive, they are just trying to make easy money of tourists. The wine tastes really bad as well. The average review score is still quite high because until a year ago there was a nice Italian restaurant located in this building. The new restaurant is a complete tourist trap and should be deeply ashamed of the quality of the food that they serve.

So, the coffee was mediocre. But the food was awful. We had poffertjes. They were raw and on the menu they said they were 12. They gave us 11 and raw. Terrible

There is now a pancake restaurant here. Pick it up yourself, clean up your own stuff. Our table was a mess. We just cleaned it up ourselves. Poffertjes were ok, for a reasonable price. The view is very beautiful, provided you have a spot on the water

Order to be collected at the bar. No table service. Toilets not very clean and staff unwelcoming. Too bad because the setting is great.

I visited Restaurant Diga in Zaandijk with my family in June, after a lovely trip to the famous windmills. The location is beautiful, with a great view of the river and the windmills along the banks. We enjoyed a good Dutch pancake paired with a nice beer, which made for a pleasant meal. However, while the setting and food were enjoyable, the overall experience was just average. It’s a nice spot to relax and take in the views, but there wasn’t much that stood out beyond that.

Terrace tables very unattended, full of empty plates and glasses that you have to remove. The girl in the window was very nice, very good views of the Zaanse Schans mills. Somewhat slow in serving.

Worst service ever seen. Arrogant and rude, please choose another place

Do NOT waste your time and money on rubbish that barely passes as edible food. We ordered a pancake and it took them 1.5 hours for them to serve our food. We went to the counter to try and follow up on our order multiple times, but every time the incompetent staff only answered “no it’s not ready.” When they finally managed to serve up our order, we noticed that they were still working on six other orders before us (we were number 8, and they were still struggling to serve number 2). The food was tasteless. It was extremely overpriced (€15). I really wonder how they mange to make a tasteless pancake that has chocolate syrup and strawberries on it. The “chef” did a good job trying to look busy - he did in fact microwave a lot of things and ran around like a headless chicken. It is astonishing how this restaurant hasn’t closed down with this level of incompetency. It is a tourist trap and it has my worst possible recommendation.

Ordered 2 pancakes and waited over 45 minutes. Outrageous and understaffed.

Super long service. More than 40 minutes of waiting for 4 “chocolate” pancakes which are straight from the bottle. When we arrive in front of the open kitchen, we can admire the cooks defrosting pizzas in front of us or taking out the brick of chocolate sauce that will top your pancake for €15. Not even Nutella. The only positive point is the view of the mills. But you can also see it very well from the bridge. To flee

This place has the perfect view of all the windmills, and the guy Nacho was the best. Netherland times but you can still have a drink with an amazing sunset. The new staff was very nice too!

Finished the tour of the wind mills and stopped for a quick snack. Oh my the chocolate and strawberry with ice cream was delicious.

Really poor quality food. If you want pancake with banana you need to bring your own banana from supermarket.

DO NOT GO HERE, if you want to waste one hour instead of being in the windmills. We ordered 2 pancakes and 3 sandwiches. And after an hour of waiting, we realized they messed up our order and rush into it. Later they offered drinks for the delay and they drinks never came. Right before we were just leaving I asked the women in the front desk and in very rude way she just said, “oh I don’t know sorry I guess” . Someone after tried to do some damage control bringing something we didn’t order. But at this long we were there for 1.5 hours.

Paid 10 euros for "fresh out of the oven" meatballs that I literally watched them take from a bag and microwave... Before ordering my friend asked if the mini pancakes were fresh and we were told yes yet they too were taken from a bag and microwaved. Would not recommend at all.

This is now a different pancake restaurant. Beautiful location. Hanging staff looking at a cell phone and not speaking Dutch. Forgot half of the order and a pancake to warm up. Do not come!

This is now a pancake restaurant, but still part of the same hotel. For a pancake restaurant, they are very simple pancakes and do not rise above the level of what someone would make at home. It is also self-service (you have to order through an open window and pick up your order yourself). The location is beautiful on the water with a view of the Zaanse Schans

Now there is a pancake house. But you better not order a pancake there. Unless you like a prefab reheated pancake…worst experience ever.

This place is now a pancake restaurant, opened 2024. Food is very poor and they are asking for €1 to use the toilet (a jar by the door). We had to feed screaming kids but otherwise it would have been better to walk past.

Terribile experience, once you place your order at the window, you can wait up to one hour and still nothing arrives at your table. After all the time passed I went to the kitchen asking where my food was, the "chefs" looked to each others wandering what I was talking about and noticed they forget the order, preceding to ask me to wait 5 minutes. I spent 10 minutes waiting and looking at the kitchen orrified, all the food was microwaved and then put on the plates, everything was frozen. After an other 15 minutes I decided to ask for a refund and leave. A nightmare of an experience.

Very poor service, we waited about twenty minutes before ordering four Iced Coffees. We also had to wait half an hour before a pancake was brought to us

Is a gotcha. They offer you home made chocolate and serve you chocomelck by the bottle. Please avoid stopping here.

A very nice place with lots of people. Not a great service and very long but free toilets and that literally saved my life.

Great atmosphere! The rice is not good! This is a place to enjoy the scenery. Plus a little food and beer should be enough! This is the best spot where you can feel a strong message. Food is most delicious when eaten with fun people while laughing! The taste is just okay! It's for people like that (lol)

Nice restaurant on the shore of the lake, with a beautiful view of the mills in the sector. You are welcomed by a shepherd dressed in the Dutch unzansa. Nice atmosphere and excellent service. You arrive by ten from Amsterdam, it is worth turning around. I recommend it!

Very nice little restaurant! A great stop to still look at the windmills and drink a good hot chocolate.

Very bad attention from the waitress. The apple pie and hot chocolate were good. The bad thing is the self service and that they give you food and drink separately, so you end up having cold chocolate with your food

We entered this place and ordered two hot chocolates, after about half an hour we asked how far along the preparation was because we had to catch the train. They reply “2 minutes and they're ready!”. We also saw that they tried several times to prepare the chocolate and had their collaborators taste it. After about an hour and without hot chocolate, one of the waiters while clearing the table next to us told us that the place was about to close and so disappointed and rather angry we left the place at 9.00pm. We looked up the closing time of the restaurant and it closed at 10pm. Leaving aside the incompetence in welcoming customers, they could at least be loyal and respectful.

This pancake with “strawberries” and icecream cost 15€. Looks horrible and they used one singular strawberry… Only good thing about this place was the view. Do not recommend.

Italian? No, we just got some pancakes, and they were nothing exceptional.

We ordered pancakes with apple and cheese, delicious. Hot chocolate was cocoa. We waited a long time for service.

I can only judge the ambience and the breakfast here. The staff is very polite and helpful. The breakfast is simple but varied and sufficient. The location is right on the water and therefore the restaurant offers an impressive view of windmills and a medieval village.

We just had a hot chocolate in the place, the atmosphere was good, everything was very well presented, however it took a little longer than average to serve to the point where I was unsure whether I had to place the order at the counter.

If you like to pay to get mediocre food, bad service and the most terrible attitude from people providing a service this is the place to go. The nice view is not worth a very unpleasant time at this place.

We sat at the table for 20 minutes and the waiters didn't even give us the menu. We gave up and left.

Too little choice, too expensive, inattention. Burnt pizza base. Food doesn't taste good and everything takes forever. It's hectic as if all the tables are full. Probably won't happen. The waiter sits at the bar for 5 minutes and chats while the food is served. Just don't go there, you're doing everything right

Awful experience, complete chaos amongst the team, waited for my coffee and salad for 40 min, asked for bread six times, it didn’t come, you would have to go to the counter and beg to pay in the end, lots of pissed customers, avoid by all means

Been twice and had to wait extremely long both times. Service is hard to find. A shame, because it is a beautiful place.

I had a bad experience at Diga with my wife. The servers, while numerous, seemed disinterested in serving us. We sat outside and ordered drinks and two pasta plates and a bread basket. We waited for a good while for our drinks and then another while for the food. We only got one of the pasta dishes when the food arrived, and we decided to start with that one until the other one would arrive, but it never came. We notified the servers that we had waited long enough and no longer wanted the second dish. While they apologised no discount or recompense was offered. To boot, on our way out I used the bathroom and it was filthy with waste baskets overflowing with paper towels. Would not recommend.

If you're thinking of going here for nice italian food you'll be disappointed. But the staff were nice enough and the there is a nice view

環境優美, 位置一流, 正正在橋邊的酒店餐廳, 影相打卡一流。食物水準平均, 無太出色亦唔會失色, 惟獨叫了一杯熱朱古力, 杯子本物不細, 但打了好多泡, 待泡去後, 只淨三份一杯是朱古力, 一啖飲光了, 太大的敗筆之處。但有隻啤酒就幾好飲, 唔記得個名了。

Not sure the chef has tasted Italian food. Nice homemade mozzarella with the tomatoes but no flavour. Beetroot was just powder. Pizza base was soft. Black spaghetti dish provided the empty prawn heads as decoration for some reason 🤷

Obsługa jest chaotyczna, pomylili zamówienia, ale dostaliśmy pasta carbonara za darmo. Pizza bardzo dobra. Długi czas oczekiwania.

Super restaurant incroyablement bien situé, belle terrasse avec vue sur l'eau et les moulins au loin. Les plats sont bons, néanmoins peu de choix et tout nous a été servis en décalé, donc on n'a pas pu manger en même temps. Je remarque aussi beaucoup trop de sel dans les pâtes carbos. À part ça c'était très bon, les prix sont abordables, et le restaurant bénéficie d'une très bonne ambiance, d'une super playlist et d'un personnel agréable.

Omdat het zou gaan regenen zijn mijn vrouw en ik even binnen gaan zitten en bestelde we ieder een biertje bij een jongedame die zeer gebrekkig Nederlands sprak. Na tenminste 20 minuten gewacht te hebben, terwijl die jongedame met niets in haar handen op en neer liep, zijn wij maar opgestaan en weggegaan.

풍차가 잘 보이는 고셍 위치하고 있습니다. 메뉴 수는 적지만 그만큼 유럽 치고 음식이 빨리 준비 됩니다. 다만 한국인 입맛에 전체적으로 짠 감이있습니다.

I had a very good experience at the restaurant. Service was very fast despite the place being full. Quality of food was excellent and great quality for price. I would definitely recommend it.

De locatie buiten is erg mooi als het goed weer is. We hadden gereserveerd voor diner. Toen we rond 17.20 uur bestelden was dat niet mogelijk. Alleen de voorgerechten en toetjes waren mogelijk. Binnen zitten kon ook niet terwijl er binnen plaatsen over waren er er wel degelijk mensen binnen zaten te eten. We hadden als toetje tiramisu. Welnu deze tiramisu is dezelfde als iets wat niet lijkt op tiramisu en je bij de Sligro kunt kopen. Er was alleen wat meer cacao over heen gedaan. Om daar € 9,- voor te vragen is toch wel aan de hoge kant. Zelf tiramisu maken is echt niet zo moeilijk. Restaurant gokt op buitenlandse toeristen maar met Italiaans eten heeft dit niets te maken. Misschien is het ook handig om de wc iets meer schoon te maken.

Wir sind mit einer großen Gruppe (20 Personen) ohne Anmeldung tip top bedient worden. Essen war lecker und Preise ok.

At Trattoria Zaan, the food was average and a bit underwhelming tbh. I must say the pizzas had the weirdest shapes I’ve ever encountered in a restaurant, as you can see from the photos. Despite that, the taste was close to enjoyable. The service was good, and the location added to the overall positive experience. If you’re looking for a place with friendly atmosphere for beers, Trattoria Zaan could be worth a try.

Nice view. Service is really nothing, I tried to find anything to not say that. But this is the 3rd time and exactly the same, late response, very slow, forgot twice what we ordered. Plus my friend falls on the terrace floor as shown in the pictures I posted here

Really nice area of town with beautiful views located nicely by the canal. Almost worth the visit. Be ready to either order everything while being seated or wait a good hour for service.

The food was just terrible, cannot be called Italian. They could not cook simple italian pasta for example the Arriabiata was awful. Service was far from great but the food was the worst Italian I have ever eaten. They only manage to get away with the poor quality because of us gullible tourists that come to Zaanse Schans. We should have checked ratings before entering the restaurant

Good location and the attractive menu of Italian-style meals makes this restaurant very appealing for visit after your day in picturesque Zaanse Schans. However, the visit may disappoint you, at least it has occurred in our case. The dishes were good enough, but the service was below average. Loud music from loudspeakers makes finding a table to sit outside not so simple. A headwaiter, which seemed to be a lover of such a music level, answered by shaking head on our request to diminish the volume. We were obliged to remind about a dish that was forgotten. To conclude: not so attractive as it seems.

Di italiano ha solo il nome “trattoria” Servizio super scadente, camerieri sono persi , il cibo insomma.. Da lasciar perdere.. La vista ripaga un po’ . And the name is not Diga..

The views here are absolutely amazing especialy on days where the weather is great. The same can not be said for this establishment. While the food is alright for what I wanted ( a capricciosa pizza ) the food took quite a while and the staff seemed to be lost and took a really long time. They even forgot the cuttlery. I believe this place has great potential to be an amazing food spot however at this time i can not recommend it

What a beautiful spot, food was lovely but completely let down by the rudest staff I've ever encountered. Really bad attitude. Never offered us anymore drinks, when we asked for water it took forever and was not enough for the five of us. We asked 3 staff for more and it never arrived. We decided to not give a tip and we're advised the bill was short by 12 euros. When we asked to see the bill, we had been charged for 2 lots of tap water. I advised that we wouldn't be paying for tap water and definitely not for water that didn't arrive as was met by the waitress just staring at me and giving me dirty looks. Eventually the manager took this amount off the bill. We would of liked to have stayed longer and order more drinks and deserts but the staff completely put us off.

Mooie plek en prima eten met een beperkte kaart maar dat was geen probleem. Wij kwamen voor de pizza, lekker, of een pasta. Er was duidelijk een tekort aan personeel waardoor je soms even moest wachten. Ook niet zo erg. Maar: er stonden twee speackers met keiharde muziek. Muziek is leuk maar iedereen was zovermogelijk van de herrie gaan zitten. Iets zachter en geen festivalmuziek. Wij willen graag terugkomen maar als wij de muziek bij aankomst horen dan lopen wij de volgende keer een deurtje verder. Keuze genoeg in de omgeving.
