Restaurant Garam Masala in Rotterdam Centrum

Had the biryani and it was great and super tasty. Only thing though is that I am typing this 2 days later from my bathroom holding on for my life because of the heat that my lower half is going through

The food was good quality, but there was no atmosphere in the restaurant at the end of the week.

Been here for first time. Food was great . Atmosphere could be better . Restaurant was half empty on Tuesday. But overall it was a nice experience. Would definitely go back.

The Madras curry is a must if you love heat and paired with their garlic naan it is amazing as it could get, and the Nepalese momos are authentic, exactly like in Nepal, highly recommend. I ate here last Saturday, via Social Deal. Over the years, I’ve eaten quite a bit of Indian food in various restaurants, but the Garam Masala is definitely mediocre. Leaving aside the fly infestation, which was very dirty and annoying, the food reminded me more of Chicken Tonight. Little flavor, lots of curry, and little substance. One dish was cold, another lukewarm, while someone else received a hot dish. Dishes that have been prepared are also placed on the bar without covers or heating. Given the flies, this isn't exactly hygienic. The service was reasonable, but taking the order from the other side of the table is a bit strange. For dessert, they even sprayed some fly poison. I think the average Dutch person will be fine here, but if you prefer spicy food, you can skip this place for the taste.

Definitely one of the best Indian food you can get in Rotterdam.Garlic nan is recommended.

One of the best Indian restaurants in the Randstad. Great service, good portions, and fast delivery. Unfortunately, they don't deliver outside Rotterdam, which I do understand. I could eat here every day. P.S. The vindaloo is really spicy (as it should be).

The Dal soup tasted good, but for our group, not everything from the set menu was equally warm. The service was prompt, though. Unfortunately, there were a lot of flies in the wine and also in the rice. This can and should never happen. Later, when we were still chatting after dinner, they started spraying with insect repellent. Terrible; we went to pay the bill immediately. This never belongs in the hospitality industry.

We had a delicious Indian meal. The menu is quite diverse, so there is plenty of choice. We had a 3-course à la carte dinner to choose from using a gift voucher. For starters, we had the pani puri and mixed grill. Both were very flavorful. For the main course, we had butter chicken and the spicy curry house special. These were tasty too. However, there was very little meat in the curry, just a few pieces. Instead of rice, we asked for garlic naan, and that was fine. For dessert, we had the kulfi twice. It was nice and refreshing and not too sweet. The service was friendly, although it did take a long time a few times before we received our drinks. All in all, we had a pleasant and delicious dinner for a reasonable price.

Yesterday we had a 3-course à la carte dinner via Social Deal. The food was really top-notch! We all had different dishes, which meant we could share each other's. The service was also just good. The mixed grill was a bit dry, but the rest was really great! The only 'point of attention' for us was that the table wasn't completely clean. Additionally, it felt a bit cold, but that was probably just because there was hardly anyone there :) Definitely recommended!

After work prior to an evening at the Oude Luxor Theater, we dined here for the first time last night (unfortunately too short). The Saag Paneer, Shahni Kurma Vegetable, and Basmati Rice Regular tasted juicy, well-seasoned, with beautifully dry rice. Portions were generous. The service was very understanding, and the kitchen was proactive. There was laughter, soft background music, and atmospheric murals. We will definitely be back. Easily accessible on foot from Rotterdam Central Station.

The food was delicious, and there's nothing to complain about. However, we had to wait a really long time for our food, which was annoying. The plates were so hot that someone got a blister, so that's something to keep in mind for next time.

Large room, quite crowded, but it felt a bit empty. Most importantly, the food was perfect; everything tasted great and the portions were generous. We had the three-course Social Deal menu for €21.50. It was a bargain.

Last week we ate at Garam Masala for the umpteenth time, and we've never been disappointed. It's hard to explain why we're such fans of this restaurant, but it's probably because of its simplicity. First of all: the food is truly fantastic. We've tried several different dishes and always enjoyed them. We also really liked the service, which is completely relaxed. If you need help, it's there, but there's no pressure at all. We really appreciate that. The wide selection of curries is all delicious, served quickly, and the portion sizes are more than ample. Don't forget to try the various appetizers and side dishes. They're also very tasty and all at a reasonable price! No fuss at this restaurant, just a relaxed and delicious meal. We always make reservations, but in the end, we haven't found it necessary. The restaurant is very spacious, so there's always plenty of room if you want to pop in spontaneously, and we definitely recommend it! The pictures show: Panneer Tikka, Chicken Chat, Cheese Naan and the curries Dansak Chicken and Djal Frezi Chicken.

Absolutely one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve been to in Rotterdam. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel so welcome. The atmosphere is cozy, warm, and perfect for enjoying authentic Indian food. The food itself was incredible, every dish was full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The butter chicken was creamy and rich without being heavy, the lamb vindaloo had the perfect level of spice, and the garlic naan was soft, fluffy, and addictive. You can tell they use fresh ingredients and take pride in their cooking. Service was friendly and attentive throughout, and even though the restaurant was busy, we never felt rushed. It really felt like dining at a place that cares about its guests. If you are in Rotterdam and craving Indian cuisine, Garam Masala is a must-visit. Been ordering here for years now and it's always a delicious way to fill out my meal planning. One portion of curry is easily enough for 2-3 meals with a little extra to pad out another snack for me. The butter chicken is my go-to, but I've tried a bunch of them, especially when ordering for my entire family, and there have been zero complaints. Definitely planning to dine-in sometime to see the vibe!

Slow-paced service on the weekend. Ordered chicken breast biryani turned out to be a masala rice with chicken. The chicken had gone bad.

Stopped by Garam Masala for dinner and really enjoyed it. We ordered butter chicken, chicken biryani, and some garlic naan—all of them were really tasty and full of flavor. The butter chicken was creamy and not too spicy, just perfect. The biryani had great seasoning and came in a good portion. The naan was fresh and soft. The staff were friendly and the place had a nice, relaxed vibe. Definitely a spot I’d visit again.

Worst indian restaurant in my life……

I ate here to my heart's content! Delicious biryani and a mango lassi that I still dream about, really! Ate here via social deal and it was delicious. The portions were very large, I don't think I even finished half of it. However, taking it with you in a container was no problem. The only tiny downside is that we sat next to a (storage?) cupboard door and every time it opened we got a gust of cold wind over us. The door only opened a few times so we didn't say anything about it, otherwise it was fine. We were the only guests in the restaurant for 2 hours. This place deserves much more appreciation, I would say give it a visit😉

Very good experience and would go again if I was in Rotterdam longer. Service was very good from taking order, serving drink and food which was very tasty and served hot and promptly.

A quarter of the restaurant was full, the service (one waitress who was serving) was nice, the food tasted good... but you have to be so patient... you have to wait sooooooooo long for your food... after the starter we waited at least an hour for the starter! After an hour we asked if the food would still come??? we then had to wait another half hour...we won't be back there anyway...

We arrived at 6:45 PM and didn't get our main course until around 8:30 PM. The appetizer also took a long time and we ended up asking questions about how long will it take if we order this or that and based on the answer we decided whether or not to order. Even after we indicated whether it would come a little faster, it arrived late. At one point children fell asleep due to fatigue. They couldn't bear the wait. Vindaloo was too spicy, almost impossible to eat. We can eat spicy food, but this was unbearably spicy. The crazy thing was that the restaurant wasn't even busy. We didn't understand it. Or did they have home delivery orders that they prioritized? We really had no idea what the reason was. Never again for us. The first and last time Garam Masala!

Delicious food with fairly quick service. The women's toilet was clean, the men's toilet smelled like sewage. Food was tasty. Onion bhaji and pani puri were tasty as a starter. Main course of lamb saag and karai paneer were both tasty. I also really liked the mango (and coconut) lassi. Dessert of Indian pistachio ice cream was also tasty. Plate of Indian bread as a starter was a bit dirty. Garlic nan was tasty. Place would get 5 stars if they were a little cleaner.

Bit of an odd place. Good staff. Food was excellent I had a nice curry and rice. Garlic Nan was good. Could have done with a couple more sauces for the popadoms. The place is like a cafe. With some nice bits and bobs, but on the stormy day we arrived it was a shelter from the pelting rain. Had Kingfisher lager. Seems like a family venture rather than a chain or venture capitalists dream.

I recently visited this Restaurant for dinner and had the Chicken Biryani.The Biryani was tasty, flavourful and presented beautifully. The ambiance and decoration of the restaurant was really good. More importantly, the staffs were very welcoming. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone seeking authentic Indian cuisine.

It might not look like so from the outside but the interior is very welcoming and warm. The food was really good, even though the service was a bit slow it wasn’t a huge problem and I loved the idea of using candles to keep the dishes warm. Densak chicken highly recommend!

I've been to India for a while and the food there is fantastic. And now you also want a restaurant in the Netherlands that serves real Indian food. These come very close. The food is delicious! They are friendly and neat. It was very busy but nice and cozy. 2 small downsides for me, the toilets smell quite bad and the floor is sticky everywhere. Maybe a small suggestion, don't use cleaning products for a while, only use osmosis water to mop.

We reserved the day before and were seated quickly. We waited almost 30 minutes for our drinks (a coke and a beer) and almost two hours for our food. The food was okay. The naan was a little dry and burned on the other side. There is only one dal option on the menu and it was average.

Somosa is a must try , perfectly crispy and filled with spiced potatoes .loved the mango coconut lassi aswell.You guys will definitely see me again.

Ordered palak paneer. It was spinach in curry and not palak paneer. Roti was not cooked properly. They didn’t follow instructions which was meet me at reception. They left the food with the reception who didn’t bother to tell us the food was there

Second time eating here. Everything was fine on the first visit, but the Chicken Chaat as a starter really stood out. This time was no different. You should go for this dish alone. Mild shrimp curry, good spicy murgh tindaloo, bombay aloo, sag paneer and garlic nan also fine. As far as I'm concerned, it's currently the #1 among Indian curry restaurants in Rotterdam!

On Mother's Day we ate at Garam Masala. It was delicious, friendly and fast service. They take your wishes into account. They are great fun with your children. A few months ago we were in Dubai, where we often went to Indian restaurants, which were always delicious. In Rotterdam we went to a few places but couldn't find the same quality. Garam Masala has surpassed it. I definitely recommend them, location is also great. You'll be in town in no time.

We thought the food was very good, and one of the best in Rotterdam today. Unfortunately, not everything on the menu was available, especially desserts and wine. Service was very friendly. All in all, definitely a restaurant to go back to in the future. One tip for this restaurant: you can raise the prices a little, it's worth it.

The food was very good! Delicious samosas, naans, Butter Chicken and Madras Lamb. The service was friendly and attentive. Unfortunately the place was quite empty on a Friday evening. It didn't matter, but it was especially sad for the people themselves.

The food was mediocre, the waitress only took dessert orders for half our table and the toilet smelled like a sewer and could be smelled through the entire restaurant. Horrible experience

Food mediocre, chicken in my biryani was dry and lentil soup had little taste. Service terrible, our starter and drinks took over an hour to arrive on the table. Waiter serves food with his ears still in. Above our table in the corner spider web with another spider in it. We wanted to take most of our main course with us, but when we came home to heat something up, it turned out that they didn't even give us half of it. In short, I did not experience this restaurant as satisfactory in any respect.

The butter chicken is good but i would prefer it to be a little spicy. Normal indian food, is good but not wow !

Heerlijk gegeten, jammer dat de zaak nog niet voor de helft vol zat want dat is het wel wat de sfeer ten goede zou komen. Het voordeel is wel dat je eigenlijk niet hoeft te reserveren van te voren.

De passage à Rotterdam je décide de choisir un restaurant indien pas loin de mon hôtel : Cuisine indienne de bas gradé, hormis le riz qui est bon, ma chicken tikka massala était un désastre, le naan moyen, pas de sauces indiennes servies hormis celle à la menthe, service HYPER LONG, ambiance et déco sympathique. En somme, expérience très moyenne. Je ne recommande pas spécialement.

Was skeptical after reading old reviews. My hunch didn't disappoint me. The food is great and reminded me of the traditional Indian dishes. Ordered Sheek Kebab Bhopali, Garloc naan, Vindaloo lamb madras Curry (its extra spicy) and Mango Coconut Lassi. Took away chicken biryani also. It was great taste and recommend to everyone. Will visit again.

Het eten was helaas mier- en mierzoet en daardoor vrijwel oneetbaar. De curry's hadden een soort dikke, maizena-achtige consistentie. Ik kan het afraden om hier te bestellen.

Ik had afgehaald dus de 3 sterren beoordeling is vooral op het eten gebaseerd. Ik heb al aardig wat Indiase tenten geprobeerd in Rotterdam maar dit vind ik de minste tot nu toe. Dikkige bruinige curry, alsof het geblenderd is. Zag er. Ier smaakvol uit en was het ook niet echt. Bovendien helemaal geen salade meegeleverd waardoor de frisse noot ontbrak. Ik zal hier niet weer bestellen.

Eten laten bezorgen vandaag. De smaak viel tegen. Het was vlak, niet gebalanceerd zoals je van Indiaas eten verwacht. Ik heb elders veel beter gegeten. Bestelling ook niet goed ingepakt, had gelekt.

We ate here twice during a week long stay. The restaurant was quite spacious and nearly empty, but doing a solid take out business. We are both vegetarian, and tried various vegetable dishes and paneer masala. Everything was only mild to medium spicy. The cinnamon ice cream was icy, but still delicious.
