Royal Indian Tandoori Restaurant in Rotterdam Centrum

I often order delivery, but I’ve also been there once and it is a super beautiful and atmospheric restaurant! The food is fantastic, I can't get enough of it!

After seeing a food review on TikTok by a famous influencer, I stopped by immediately. The food was very flavorful, the meat was very tender, and the portions were good. The service from the wait staff was really good; highly recommended, attentive, and fast. What I also really liked to see was that they have an open kitchen; this gave me a familiar feeling and made the atmosphere much better. I recommend everyone to have a bite to eat here and try the Tandoori Chicken and the Karai Chicken.

I went to eat at Royal Indian Tandoori on the Nieuwe Binnenweg after hearing from an influencer that you can eat halal there. Unfortunately, my experience was anything but good. Upon entering, I immediately noticed that the restaurant was empty and quite dusty. The interior looked unkempt, and even the cutlery still had food residue on it… not exactly fresh. Once we received our food, things really started to get uncomfortable. While we were still sitting at the table, the employee came to clear our table. We literally had to lift our things so he could reach them. Additionally, he got angry because some rice had fallen on the floor. He sighed, huffed, and shook his head in irritation. Truly very rude behavior. I have never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant. Absolutely not a second time for me, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I must say this is one of the best indian restaurants that I have eaten in in a very long time , the food is flavoursome , the smells hit you as soon as you walk through the door, and just by the clients sat already eating I could tell this place was authentic before I had even tried the food, it exceeded my expectations, you can taste the love and freshness within each dish. Very impressed . We will be back! Also the service is as amazing and our Waiters smile and attention made the experience all the more satisfying. What a great business you guys have created.

I recently dined at Royal Indian Tandoori in Rotterdam and was very pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious, well-spiced, and full of flavor without being too heavy. The atmosphere in the restaurant was warm and welcoming. You can feel that it is a family business where work is done with care and passion. The service was friendly and personal. Definitely recommended for anyone who loves Indian food. I would love to come back here again.

It was authentic. You will prove the spice in the food, very delicious. The service was really good, everyone was nice. The place is quiet small but it wasn't a big problem since we came early and there were no other guests, they were coming later.

Madras chicken curry: spicy but no flavour 3/5. Mango Lassi: 1/5, not tasteful. Alu naan: very nice, 4/5. Unfortunately not very authentic. Nice people and chefs. It will not be the worst restaurant you visit but it will also not be the best. A decent 3/5 in my opinion.

The food here was amazing! Friendly people! But oh my, oh my, it was delicious. I'm already looking forward to the next time. My 7-year-old daughter asked if we could have lunch and dinner there next time, haha!

After years living in the centre of Rotterdam and trying different options to find a good curry, I finally found it! Great curry, tender meat, always friendly and quick with their service. They’re also very happy to have kids come and eat in. Easy five stars!

Zo vers en zo lekker! Je kan alles vers zien voorbereid worden. We zijn zo vaak geweest en komen vanuit Tilburg. Geweldige chef ook en zeer sociaal. Echt een aanrader. Heerlijk.

We waren hier al een tijdje niet meer geweest. Maar gelukkig was het weer als vanouds lekker. Vriendelijke bediening die ons wees op wat specialiteiten op de (voor ons) nieuwe kaart. Een tafeltje bij het raam om Rotterdam aan ons voorbij te laten gaan. Verder een lekkere mango-lassie en en zoete curry (Kashmiri), de weekendspecial Handi Beef en een rijst plus een naan. Eten stond relatief snel pp tafel. Er is mede door de bestellingen een behoorlijke doorloopsnelheid.. De vulling (kip) van de Kashmiri curry en (zalige zacht rundvlees) van de Handi beef was netjes. Smaak ruim voldoende tot.goed bij de Handi beef. Echt Indiaas met vele lagen kruiden blijft buiten India lastig. Prijs prestatie kwaliteit is netjes in orde. Dat is ook reden voor de 5 sterren. Voor nog geen vijftig euro heb je lekker gegeten met een goede mango lassi. We komen, zeker nu we weer vaker via deze route in Rotterdam komen, graag nig een keertje terug. De combinatie van lekker eten, goede eerlijke prijs en vriendelijk personeel maakt dit een fijne zaak.

Nice detail; They had new menu cards and the waiter asked us if we liked them and if they were easy to read. I really appreciate this. It shows they are invested in and caring for the customer's experience. We will definitely be back!

Not everyone is welcome at this restaurant. I ate there several times after celebrating carnival in Rotterdam, which was okay. They make you pay more for the toilet if you have a tan. In addition, we were also not welcome in the regular toilet. We had to pee in the basement where there wasn't even a way to wash your hands. Other people (including white family members and others I asked) were allowed to use the regular restroom and paid less. Very disappointed in this racist policy!

The meat/chicken here is halal, so you can enjoy the food here with peace of mind. Nice people, you will be helped well. I come back here again and again. Ps. Father and son run this restaurant, both came out several times to ask if we needed anything. The food is delicious, freshly prepared, packed with flavor and every bite is an explosion of flavor. I'm going to come here more often. Other restaurants can learn from this. Good food and excellent service are central here. If you are in Rotterdam, don't miss this opportunity.

I never write a review, but it is now well deserved. I've been coming here for years, albeit sporadically, but somehow a visit here has not disappointed once. The service is extremely friendly and warm, and the location and food are hygienic. The service is always tailor-made, we always think along to make the best choice. Father (owner) and son usually work side by side. The food has hardly changed in all these years, and I can appreciate that bit of continuity. Normally I don't taste any difference between different curries, but here the flavors are varied and intense. My compliments for authenticity. The atmosphere is also homely, with Bollywood classics (the music) in the background. In short, nothing but good about this restaurant, and that is exceptional. See you soon.

Had a delicious meal today with these friendly people and cozy location. The food is different than we are used to, but in a positive way. It was delicious!! The garlic naan is also really fantastic!! It was just great, nothing to complain about.

One of my favourite restaurants

I was here today with my family. My children are somewhat fussy eaters, so I thought it was great that they thought along with us about what we could order for them. The chicken tikka massala was recommended because it is sweet. Ordered a chicken biryani for myself and it was also yum! All in all a successful evening! I hope to go back again soon!

Al geruime tijd is dit de Indiaans restaurant waar ik kom als ik trek heb in Indiaans. Ik vind het momenteel de beste in Rotterdam. Aanrader is de jalfrezi chicken of lams(pittig gerecht!), favoriet bij de kinderen is chicken tikka massala. Probeer ook een de biryani!! Vraag naar de mix Biryani(rijstgerecht met lams, kip en garnalen).

Pretty good restaurant for some delicious Indian food. We tried a lot of stuff and the particularly good ones were Karahi Chicken, Dal Tarka, Veg Biryani and Indian Tea. The Mix Veg was not so good though. The service was decently swift and the prices were seemingly reasonable. Most of the vegetarian options were available as sides in small portions.

Al aantal keren hier gegeten. Altijd uitstekend. In Nederland, maar ook op vakantie in het buitenland proberen we vaak Indiase restaurants. Meestal is het lekker. Maar voorlopig is dit mijn favoriet. Hier worden merkbaar meer kruiden, met subtiel effect, gebruikt. Onion bhajee en seekh kebab zijn lekkerder dan elders. Ook de hoofdgerechten die we tot nu toe hebben geprobeerd zijn top.

Knus en erg gezellig. Het eten is daar altijd heerlijk..

We enjoyed a great dinner in this really traditional indian restaurant. We had Royal Mixed Grill, a mild curry chicken, some vegetables and a traditional sweet dessert. The food was very tasty and the service excellent and very friendly. We can really recommend the place even though they do not serve alcohol.
