The food was generally very good. The carpaccio and tournedos were delicious. Only the plaice fillet was a bit dry. The service could be better. Sometimes there was no one around, and when we wanted to order wine, we had to wait about 20 minutes. At one point, we wanted to order something else, but because no one came, we just went to look for someone ourselves. In short: we had a nice meal, but the service could use a bit more attention and attentiveness.

Received a particularly poor welcome. After living in Zeist for 4 years, I took the step one evening to have a drink and dessert on the terrace after attending a concert. The reception was unfriendly. The hostess spoke poor Dutch... in short, we left after about 20 minutes. I will not spend my money there again.

Disappointing experience We had wanted to visit the Hermitage for quite some time, so we were looking forward to enjoying a drink and dessert here. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. Upon arrival, we politely asked if there was a table available. The young man who assisted us briefly indicated that there was no room. We were not really greeted, and the approach came across as rushed and not very hospitable. A little later, a lady showed us to a table for four people after all. We clearly indicated that we wanted something to drink and a dessert. However, at the table, we got the feeling that there was little room for this. When we indicated what we wanted to drink, we were told in a rather unfriendly tone that the table was actually intended for guests coming to eat and not just for a drink and dessert. Unfortunately, we did not feel truly welcome during our visit. We also noticed that there was only one men's restroom available, which was not very practical given the crowds. We understand that the staff can be busy, but it is precisely the way guests are received and approached that makes a big difference. As far as we are concerned, the hospitality and customer friendliness here could certainly be improved. It is a shame, because we had actually been looking forward to visiting here.

We ate here tonight, but it was a disappointment. We weren't regulars and got the impression we were being ignored. The staff lacks a helicopter view. An extra glass of wine never arrived, so we didn't even order dessert and just paid the bill. Shame!

Had a lovely meal on the terrace; the staff were busy but attentive. The food was delicious; the only downside was that the website had not yet updated the menu. Worth repeating.

Both me and my mum dined yesterday evening and both had food poisoning within hours. She had a fish dish. I had fish and shrimp. €100 dinner for poor service and ending up very sick. I'm sorry to write this review as I ate at Hermitage before and was ok.

We had an excellent meal here. A big compliment to the kitchen staff. Service... oh, here we go again. A young lady (girl) shy, few words. The waiter/server/manager (nice word). Was way too busy. Served 35 covers all by himself. Had no time for anything extra. Our wine was not topped up. But the neighbors did, because they had a bottle of Meursault. That means nothing to me; I still have some at home. I run a wine business. Everyone has to pay the bill and enjoy themselves. No bread rolls or anything like that with the starter. Not a single bite with our aperitif. Management, do something about this. The old grey wave that comes here daily is literally dying out. The new generation is really different. Even though I love the old classic guard. And then the restrooms. That is really unacceptable anymore. Wallpaper over wallpaper or something similar. I would say: Strip it, tile, new toilet. Just make it neat and sleek. It really doesn't cost a fortune. You guys are relying on the old guard here. But there is an end date coming to that.

Had a wonderful, luxurious dinner at Hermitage last night. The food was of good quality, the staff were very friendly and had a nice chat. Definitely recommended!!

A place with history in a very beautiful setting! Stopped for lunch during a pod walk through Zeist and the surrounding area… and in the mood for a light lunch, ordered both. Well… you’d be better off ordering/eating this dish somewhere else. The shrimp croquette was bland; a piece of bread or toast on the side would have been nice… Alongside that, a (very small) glass of soup and a small brioche; the last dish was okay in terms of taste… because it was just 12:00, it was very quiet, so we can't really judge the atmosphere… unfortunately, not worth 3 (or more) stars for our light lunch 🌟

We had a delicious dinner with the family to celebrate a birthday. The dishes were beautifully presented and delicious. They were flexible with the children and accommodated our request for a vegetarian entree. The service was relaxed and pleasant. In short: we thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommended.

Nice, cozy restaurant, but the service was truly terrible. We had to wait 20 minutes for our drinks menu after having to ask, and they barely checked on us. The food was delicious, though, and the fries were the best. I'd definitely go back, and hopefully the service will be better!

So strange. Outside, there was a list of lunch items, like sandwiches. Inside, we were given a menu with only expensive hot dishes, like caviar and lobster, and other unfamiliar dishes. They didn't have any bread or rolls at all. It was noon. We left after coffee. Luckily, they didn't make a fuss.

We enjoyed the excellent high tea. An elaborate tiered stand with savory sandwiches, soup, salad, scone, and a small bowl of sweets. The quality was excellent.

Eating at Hermitage is always a treat!...culinary!

We made a reservation weeks ago for the new Royal high tea. Just leave the "Royal" off. It was so bad that we filed a complaint. Weeks later, we received a response. Apologies, it's new to us. I'm trying to keep everything in the air, hence the late response. I don't want to be the victim of the new high tea. But we were invited and were supposed to be offered a drink. But why a drink, the whole high tea was rubbish? And because of that, the atmosphere was also awful. No homemade potato salad. No clotted cream, which is definitely a must. There was too much fish. But everything was new. This was a trial run. But not on us, I thought. So, after the email arrived weeks later, I sent a new one, refusing the offer of drinks. So, a new high tea, and not a trial run, but a good high tea. But here's the thing: I haven't heard anything about the last email. I sent it to the management, but haven't received a response. That's actually even worse than the bad high tea. Look, a complaint can always happen, but make it right. And respond the same day. You have to stay on top of things. No, I try to keep all my balls in the air. Both in the kitchen and on the floor. Well, as far as I'm concerned, I haven't been able to keep all my balls in the air.

It wasn't bad, but something was missing.

Unfortunately there was no fish soup that evening.

Disappointing experience at Hermitage Zeist I visited the Hermitage restaurant on a weekday afternoon around 3:15 PM with the intention of having lunch and enjoying some quiet time on the terrace. To my surprise, the host told me that lunch was no longer possible, with the comment: “We have been so busy.” This tone did not feel very welcoming. When I asked if I could order something else on the terrace, the uninterested response was: “We do have snacks.” What struck me most is that the guests around me could simply order from the lunch menu. Also when I asked for the drinks menu for a glass of cava, it came across as if I was being difficult. The attitude was cold and distant, and I got the strong feeling that I didn't really matter as a guest. What makes this experience even more unpleasant is that I have been here before and was always satisfied with the service. Now I felt completely ignored, while other guests – surprisingly mainly white couples – did receive all the attention. Because I was sitting alone, it seemed like I was considered less important. I would like to point out to the restaurant that everyone works hard for their money, and if I choose to spend my free time here, it is to relax - not to feel left out. If this is the standard for how guests from different backgrounds are treated, then it is painful and unacceptable. I advise future visitors to think carefully before going here. Unless you fit a certain image, it seems like you need to demand service rather than receive it

Vier gangen-menu was prima, maar met opmerkingen: er werd geen brood/boter geserveerd dus dat bestelde ik apart. Toen de saus van de derde gang me echt aanstond was er geen brood meer. Jammer. Ook was het natuurlijk asperge-tijd maar er was maar mondjesmaat asperge in de twee gerechten. Onze twee wijnen waren erg goed, aar dat komt met een prijs. Terecht, trouwens. De rode wijn uit 2019 had nog wat kunnen rijpen. Prettig avond, ook door attente bediening.

Gisteravond hebben wij met z'n 5 bij Hermitage gegeten, de tafel achter ons stond erg dicht op onze tafel. De bediening was niet erg attent .wij begonnen met een fles Cava ,hadden een 3 gangen menu men vroeg niet wat wij verder wilden drinken ,moesten erg ons best doen om de wijnkaart te krijgen , bij het hoofdgerecht kwam de wijn pas toen wij het vlees al gekregen hadden Al met al een kleine teleurstelling. Het eten op zich was goed.

The main reason to dine at the Hermitage restaurant is the delicious food and the beautiful matching wines. It is a somewhat old-fashioned, chic concept. A bit stiff, which also translates to the waiting staff.

In our hunt for the tastiest Caesar salad we went back to Hermitage. As a regular guest in the past under the perfect leadership of Bart Broshuis and Nico Bakker, it was now a big disappointment. The Caesar Salad consisted of a few leaves of lettuce, 5 slices!! chicken breast and 2 slices of parmesan cheese. It really didn't make any sense. Where was the delicious bacon? Where were the croutons? After we informed the waiter whether a poached egg was also included, a bowl with 3 cold catering pre-boiled hard eggs was brought to the table. OK. the price level used to be higher, but so was the quality. It's a real shame that the grandeur of the past has completely disappeared. We won't talk about a really ice-cold espresso for €3.75.

The food in the bistro is very good but the service is very inexperienced and of good will. However, the kitchen is very slow. After 45 minutes still no starter. Had to ask for it. Excuus was an intern in the kitchen. I would like to wait a while, but this is not okay. Only after more than 2 hours did the main course arrive. No communication whatsoever from the boss. One couple even left the business angry. For the time being I prefer to go to Local Victoria again

Cozy bistro with classic dishes where cooking is done at a high level for a reasonable price.

Goede bediening, fijn ruim opgezet. Menukaart en eten zijn echt geweldig. Kwaliteit top. Kwantiteit - prijs verhouding slecht. Super kleine porties en ik ben geen grote eter.

Het was al een paar jaar geleden dat we hier waren en toen vooral op het terras in de zomer. Nu binnen is alles sfeervol ik kerststemming, maar het groene interieur ziet eruit of het hele jaar door kerststemming is, met ook wel erg psychedelisch tapijt op de vloer, maar dat is natuurlijk kwestie van smaak. Ontvangst door dame is zeer kordaat en binnen no time staat er een glaasje wijn op tafel en volgt snel een mandje met brood. Klassieke menukaart waar we wel mooie gerechtjes weten uit te zoeken. Gaat ook in aangenaam tempo bij voor en hoofdgerecht. Maar daarna komt de klad er een beetje in. De gevraagde koffie laat lang op zich wachten (we wilden al bijna om de rekening vragen), maar ook de rekening daarna liet lang op zich wachten. Op zich prima gegeten, maar niet het gevoel hier moeten we snel weer naar terug. Misschien van de zomer weer een terras proberen.

Because of our mother's 80th birthday, we had lunch here with about 15 plus people in the room in the back. There were about 6 different small dishes to choose from and they were all very tasty, as I understand from the guests. All in all a great experience for everyone.

Went for lunch last weekend. The interior looks sleek, mainly the elderly people who come. Reception was fine, the pace could be faster in my opinion. The special thing was that the menu we received did not present the full range, because we had viewed the menu online in advance, which had more sandwiches and choices. We asked if there was another card, because not everything was on it. The waiter indicated that it was indeed true that not everything was on the menu, but there was no explanation for this. Finally 12 hours and ordered the goat cheese salad. Presentation of the dishes were prims, but the price and quantity is not in proportion, especially the salad. The salad contained 8 chicory leaves, 4 pieces of cucumber, 5-6 slices of goat cheese and dressing. This also applies to the cuppacinno 90% milk 10% coffee. The 12 hours, on the other hand, are very tasty (they are not on the menu). The services are fine. The ladies were very attentive. Room for improvement

Dishes were excellent. Service appropriately friendly. The atmosphere is good, but there are many people in one room, making the atmosphere very noisy and making it difficult to have a conversation. Some dampening should be done.

Because we had something to celebrate we went to the Hermitage. It was one big fiasco. We were at the mercy of an intern who was not supervised. So something went wrong there, that girl can't do anything about it. After arriving, the wine was delivered quickly, the starter half an hour later and we had to wait another hour for the main course. There would have been sick people and the rest in the kitchen were novices, it was said. Blunt knives for the entrecote instead of steak knives. Salad without dressing and despite my lactose mention, I received the same herb butter as my table companion. The food was good but not great! Very unfortunate this experience on our festive day!

Delicious food and enjoyed gems from the kitchen. Unfortunately, at the end of the evening we noticed that all tables were ready for dessert, cheese board or coffee at the same time and therefore we had to wait a very long time for the coffee that was ordered from the digestifs and the cheese board for 1 person arrived very late. Too bad we had to ask twice. Hopefully you can do something with this.

On a Saturday evening, we visited this culinary classic from Zeist and, after some bubbles, had a delicious three-course menu. The staff is professional, not stiff, but hospitable and approachable. The dishes are classic, but very high quality and a taste sensation that is also beautifully served. We requested a matching wine arrangement from the enormous wine list, which was expertly chosen. We understand why this restaurant has had a good reputation for years and will definitely come back again.

We komen er al jaren, en d aardige serveerster vertelde dat ze inmiddels 4 kinderen heeft. Deze keer troffen we een zeer ongeïnteresseerde ober. Het leek wel een klucht: de 2 flesjes water konden we zelf wel inschenken, ook niet erg. Toen we om een grote fles vroegen kregen we het ongeopend op tafel waarbij de zonnebril het moest ongelden. Ook niet erg, er mankeert niets aan onze handen. Het voorgerecht kwam snel. Maar daarna werd er wel afgeruimd en we kregen nieuw bestek. Tot zover niets aan de hand. Maar na 3 kwartier kwam ernog steeds niets, het was notabene een steak tartaar, dus rauw. Uiteindelijk ging ik naar binnen en trof de aardige dame aan. Die zag dat het wel was doorgegeven maar ergens was het fout gegaan. U krijgt van mij een nagerecht, want ze vond het net zo vervelend als wij. Toen de het na 15 minuten eindelijk gebracht werd door de ongeïnteresseerde ober was er geen enkele verontschuldiging. Zo jammer, want het kan toch niet zo zijn dat we door een zo’n ober helemaal geeen zin hebben om weer te komen?

Delicious lunch, food was good, service was disappointing. It always took a long time before someone came by, after the first drink it took 45 minutes for the glass to be filled again, even though we tried to signal or speak to the waiter as they walked by. When they finally managed to order and they came by with the bottle, they asked "Is the wine still needed?" Special question, if you ordered it just before. Too bad, but the food made up for everything and we certainly enjoyed it in combination with the beautiful and quiet terrace.

Delicious meal, for 2 people: oysters, escargot, vitello tonato, carpaccio, lobster, tenderloin with liver curls and pandan cake. We sat outside on the terrace. Nice place to sit on a summer evening. The canopy gave us shade, but if you want you can also sit in the sun. When it started raining, the roof closed completely. Friendly staff. I understand that as some say, staff react a bit arrogantly. We were not bothered by that, but perhaps it is because we are dressed accordingly, because the poop content is high. Is a place where you spend a little more. And a place not suitable for children.

Great restaurant! The service is friendly and happy to have a chat. There is a choice between the bistro and the restaurant, each with a different atmosphere and menu, which I personally think is a nice concept. The terrace is a very nice place to be and we also had a delicious meal!

What an indescribably nauseating poop opportunity. The waiter referred us to so-called non-reserved places. He didn't show up again after that. Two ladies who had not made a reservation were also treated aggressively. It would be normal to indicate that you want to sit on the terrace and in advance according to this disgusting waiter. I waved him over but he continued to ignore us. This was far below anything that could make a catering visit enjoyable. It couldn't be worse.

On the hottest day in March ever recorded, there is no service on the terrace. That in itself wouldn't be so bad, but inside there was someone working behind the bar who didn't care whether there were customers. So we went again. For a friendlier welcome, walk to the terrace at Slot Zeist.

Service from an older woman was very rude. We wanted the menu that was on the internet, but that was no longer possible. When asked, the lady said that they cannot adjust the site. After two glasses of wine she asked; Shall we have another glass of wine? well, certainly not with you, we thought. Hermitage your food is great, but please do something about the site, and especially your staff!

Wonderful place. I've been coming here since the 1980s when I still lived in Zeist, it's kind of a landmark. Nice place.

We have been to many places for lunch in the Zeist area. But we have never felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome anywhere. The service comes across as arrogant and conceited. I don't understand how you can give customers the feeling that they would rather lose you than be rich. Incomprehensible. The food, on the other hand, is fine. Of course you pay for the good food. But that also includes good service. We were not looked at. At checkout we were not asked if we enjoyed it. I don't recommend anyone to go here.

Most excellent food. We went for the 5 course dinner and were amazed by the gastronomic adventure that unfolded. The dishes were coupled perfectly with wines for which we gave the waiter carte blanche.

The service was good, we took my mom in a wheelchair and they placed the ramp for us to have lunch inside. The food was very delicious, the service was fast and the staff was very friendly.

Heerlijk plekje buiten op het terras, fijn glas cava, heerlijk eten, attente, correcte en heel prettige bediening. Top beleving, hier wordt je nog verrast en hier word ik blij van. In Bilthoven aan het Vinkenplein is nog horeca ruimte beschikbaar, lijkt mij een prima plek voor nog een Hermitage.

There was no warm welcome upon entering. The waiter asks if we know what kind of restaurant they are, looking at our 2 children. Nice start…. Anyway, sit down. Opted for the 2 course lunch menu. The first course came quite quickly and was delicious beetroot with salmon. We waited 54 minutes for the second course with an empty plate in front of us. Around us were a number of tables with empty plates and glasses or a menu card where service was missing. After waving a few times we were helped and the table was cleared and we got our 2nd course of plaice fillet, again the food was tasty. Management against this is negligent and has an arrogant and conceited attitude. Compliments to the kitchen.

Elke keer opnieuw heerlijk gegeten bij de Hermitage. Nu zo'n 5 keer geweest sinds we in deze omgeving wonen. Het (overdekte) buitenterras is erg knus. De brisque is voortreffelijk, steak tartaar idem en fettuccine mooi van smaak. Ook de lunches zijn zeer smakelijk. Service geef ik 5-sterren, vanwege de zeer vriendelijke benadering van de dames. Een aantal van de heren, echter, vertonen een ietwat onprettige houding, de één hautain, de ander schuchter en weer een ander een drukdoener. Al met al mag dat de algehele fijne ervaring niet drukken.

Very expensive for fiddly, pretentious but completely forgettable food. I could have known when I saw the entourage and a bunch of old folks walking in - the vibe felt off. The cava was disappointing. Some bread was served with what I though were two sauces not freshly made but bought. Ordered a two-course lunch for two. First steak tartare, which was tiny. There are still chefs who serve like it’s the 1990s. Pretentious as hell. There was a tiny bowl of what tasted like tangy ice cream, and a few nibbles of veggies. Why? Just give me an honest plate of food with quality ingredients, well prepared. Stop fiddling with it. We then had fish. The fish was dry. The skin, which could have been crackly and delicious, was soft and tasted sad. The wine, I forgot which one, was good. But that’s hardly an accomplishment. The friandises with the coffee were clearly not made in-house. If you’re serving pretentiously, at least make your own stuff. Hey, but at least the Asian girl who served us was classy, incredibly beautiful and served us with a great smile. The man who helped her was on auto-pilot. We ended up still being hungry and spent over €120,-! Seriously! We won’t come back.

Na een regenachtige periode scheen eindelijk het zonnetje weer en wij besloten om gezellig op het terras van De Hermitage te gaan lunchen. Het was alweer een tijdje geleden dat wij daar goed en gezellig gegeten hadden en een zeer aangename avond doorbrachten, dus wij hadden hoge verwachtingen. Het terras is gezellig en de ambiance is prima, maar dan is dan gelijk ook alles mee gezegd. Het terras was voor iets minder dan een kwart gevuld. De bediening was zeer onpersoonlijk en wij voelden ons alles behalve welkom als gast. De drankjes kwamen vlot maar het duurde bijna een half uur voordat wij de menukaart kregen, ondanks onze verwoede pogingen om de aandacht van de bediening te trekken. De “specials” werden in het luchtledige afgeraffeld. Wij hadden ondertussen trek en bestelden alvast brood (€7), maar dat kwam vrijwel tegelijkertijd met ons hoofdgerecht. Het tweede glaasje wijn werd buiten mijn zicht ingeschonken en zo uit de hand op tafel gezet, wat natuurlijk not done is. Over het eten kan ik kort zijn: De presentatie was mooi, de smaak minder. De vis was lauw en niet goed gaar. De vis ging terug naar de keuken en was binnen een paar minuten terug in dezelfde samenstelling en nog steeds lauw. De smaak was vlak. De steak tartaar zag er prachtig uit, maar smaakte nergens naar: Heel vlak, waardoor het al gauw verveelt. Het duurde vervolgens eindeloos voordat de tafel werd afgeruimd. Aan het tafeltje naast ons waren er intussen mensen gaan zitten, die na een kwartiertje zonder enige aandacht van de bediening maar weer opstapten. Toen er weer iemand van de bediening opdaagde, toch maar om de dessertkaart gevraagd: Duurde vervolgens ook eindeloos voordat wij deze kregen; het leek wel of de kaart nog gedrukt moest worden. Het dessert kwam na bestelling wel heel vlot en kennelijk rechtstreeks uit de koelkast, want was ijskoud. Wij hebben er ruim 2 uur gezeten en alleen hoofdgerecht en dessert gehad: Voor de koffie hadden wij helaas geen tijd meer en voor de rekening zijn wij maar naar binnen gelopen en op zoek gegaan naar iemand die deze voor ons kon opstellen. De ambiance is prima, maar al met al was het een zeer teleurstellende ervaring, zowel qua bediening als kwaliteit van het eten. Hier zullen wij niet zo snel meer terugkomen.

Wir waren heute zu zweit hier Essen. Wir übernachten schräg gegenüber, Ohne Reservierung war der Empfang sehr von oben herab, wurden an einem Tisch Abseits geführt. Wurden direkt ohne Karte nach Getränke gefragt (andere Gäste bekamen Karten),Getränke kamen danach wurden wir eine ganze Zeit nicht mehr beachtet. Es kamen dann doch die Speisekarten ohne Kommentar. Wir bestellten 4 Gänge a la Carte: Aperitif das Brot und Pata Negra, war gut. Vorspeise: Burrata und Beef Tartar, Teller waren schön angerichtet und hat gut geschmeckt. Bei beiden leider kein bisschen Brot. Hauptgang: Fettuccine und das Steak, Teller wieder schön angerichtet, Fettuccine geschmacklich gut nur ein bisschen trocken, Nudeln ohne Sauce geht nicht. Steak war gut gebraten und so wie bestellt. Wo unser Hauptgang kam hatten sich anscheinend einheimische neben uns gesetzt, da wurde die Speisekarte mit Empfehlungen angepriesen, Tip: sollte man auch mit anderen Gästen machen und nicht nach dem äußeren gehen in meinen Augen. Nun warten wir auf unsere Käseauswahl. Alles im Allen Gutes Essen wo Küche sich viel Mühe gibt, Doch der Service wirkt überheblich und arrogant. Das Zusammenspiel zwischen Küche und Service muss passen!!!

Prima gegeten, wel even geduld hebben voordat er iets op tafel komt. Personeel zeer vriendelijk, eten zeker niet te duur. Aanbevelenswaardig

Mooie zaak, heerlijke wijn maar prijs technisch te duur… Heerlijke steak tartaar met een twist(je) maar een glas chardonnay van 8,50 waarvan een fles inkoop 17,- (?) is das te ver gezocht mijnsinziens .

Heel gezellig, warm en klasse café.

Wat een geweldige zaak is dit zeg. Ze hebben een laagdrempelig Frans café met echte klassiekers zoals steak bearnaise of bouillabaisse. Ze hebben ook een restaurant gedeelte. Daar worden gerechten geserveerd van een hoog niveau. Met een uitstekende complete wijnkaart. Wij komen zeker terug!!!

Michelin quality restaurant, fell in love with Ceviche. Very creative unique plates. Unfortunate that English menu is not available. Definitely will go again.

Als het druk is kan je je tafel genoten slecht verstaan.

Heerlijk eten, leuk, professioneel en flexibel personeel. Een etentje ter ere van een bruiloft eindigde spontaan in een onvergetelijk feestje. We komen hier graag!
