One experience richer, one illusion poorer. For years, this restaurant had been very high on our list. Three months ago, we were ready and actually managed to get a spot. We made a large deposit and from then on, we counted down to this special dinner. The boat trip was fantastic. Lovely weather, a glass of bubbly, and a small appetizer. The host on the boat provided interesting background information and an introduction to the evening. Once there, we took a brief look around, including the wine cellar, before taking our seats. From that moment on, the courses were rushed through. We were constantly checked to see if we could move on to the next wine, which made us feel rushed at a certain point. The food was absolutely, and I mean absolutely, not flavorful. What a shame, because we were looking forward to it so much. Unfortunately, not a single dish stood out. During the last course, it was emphasized that the boat was going back soon. And yes, we had been politely emailed and called beforehand about the problems with the lock on the return journey. However, the evening felt very rushed because of it. In hindsight, the price-quality ratio leaves a bad taste in our mouths. It was extremely expensive, and that was really not reflected in the food. You eat much better quality food on the ‘mainland’. We are glad we had the experience, but unfortunately, this restaurant is not recommended (at the moment). Who knows what the future holds.

The experience was nice, on that beautiful island by boat, but the menu (August 2026) was really hugely disappointing. I love fine dining, but unfortunately, I was not impressed. Few interesting flavors. I went there with great enthusiasm and really don't care about the price if the food is good, but unfortunately, this was a huge letdown when you look purely at the price-quality ratio.

An experience, but not worth the money. A pleasant boat trip there, but a lot was charged extra for the drinks. The small island is quite nice to have walked around once. The food was served very quickly, far too meager, and tasteless. A real disappointment and not recommended.

Nice place, good service, and good wine. The food, however, was disappointing. Very simple, little variety, and portions that were too small. We were still hungry, but there was nothing we could do about it. We just got something to eat on the way home.

Overall it a very memorable experience but if you are a person that focuses purely on the food, then this is probably not for you. €100 /person for a 6 course meal + €35/ boat ride + drinks. For this price, the food doesn't quite hit the value for money mark. The quantity, cooking and presentation is competent but none of the dishes really impressive. We had the following dishes: On the boat ride we had a platter of cheese, sausage, pickles and mustard. It was ok standard fare. At the restaurant they served very good fresh sourdough and butter. Grilled and raw white aspargus with egg yolk this was lovely and refreshing, but the herbs of top looked limp like they were in the fridge too long. This dish was most unusual dish of the menu, looked and tasted interesting. Grilled mackerel, green pea and smoked herring also a lovely dish. The was grilled to perfection with crispy skin. But it was a very safe and standard dish. Chanwan mushi, oyster mushrooms, crunchy rice, herbs and bergamot. This dish didn't work. The bergamot just felt like a strange scent to add to a japanese inspired, umami focused dish. What was worse, was they overdid it on the crunchy rice and herbs. The dish should have focused on the mushrooms, egg custard and dashi but with the over addition of the rice and herbs, each mouthful was just crunchy rice and herbs. Totally over powering the delicate egg flavour and texture. This was overly complicated. Would have been better to reduce the rice and herb by half. Also the oyster mushrooms where chopped into very small pieces, it would have been better to leave them slightly larger so there would be a bite to them. Next was a slow cooked lamb on a fermentated potato cake. The lamb and toppings were lovely but the potato cake was so tough! You had to use force to cut it into bite sized pieces. I had to use the knife tip to perforate a line through them before I could cut them. Taste wise they were fine but the texture and mouthfeel was also overly hard and chewy compared to the melt in the mouth tender lamb. The dessert was strawberries, milk ice cream, rhubarb sauce and a green lovage oil. It looked pretty but was a boring dessert beyond the bitter note of the lovage oil. So the cooking was good, the ingredients good, service was quick and efficient, but the menu had a few bum notes and overall I just felt it didn't quite hit the mark. Also no staff or manager actually asked for any feedback about the food. The good parts tell me the kitchen is capable of much better food, not sure what is holding them back or if they are just playing it safe or are just uninspired. But a visit to this restaurant isn't just about the food. For the price you take a nice boat ride out to a very pretty little island with a light house, it's just a shame the light house isn't lit at night. You get to walk around the island and take some very pretty instagram photos. There are some sheep on the island and you can see a lot of water birds. There is a summer glasshouse dining area, which I am sure will have amazing sunset views. We ate in the bunker which is far more unique and unusual with it's maze cavern interior. The room is candle lit and has a cozy wood fire going. The kitchen and wine cellar also make for interesting photos. A kitchen side tables would also be great to watch the chefs at work. There is a beautiful sunset on the horizon. After dinner there is an atmospheric lantern lit walk under moon and starlight back to the return boat ride to shore. If you are someone that focuses on the overall experience, memory making, unusual/ unique settings, photo taking, scenary, beautiful sunset, moon light shimmering on a the sea then this is definitely worth a visit. But if you are a purely food focused person (like me) the food wasn't "wow" enough for me to justify the expensive of a return trip, which is a real shame as the setting is lovely.

After being on the waiting list multiple times, we finally made it: we got to go to Vuurtoreneiland. You are taken to the island by boat from the harbor in Amsterdam, and that is immediately a fantastic start to the evening. We had beautiful weather, sat comfortably on the sun deck, and the bubbles from the bar tasted excellent. The crossing alone makes the experience special. The staff on deck were enthusiastic and hospitable. Behind the bar, they were a bit nonchalant. The charcuterie board was a nice start, but in terms of flavors, it immediately set the tone for the rest of the evening. Let's be honest: the location is truly unique. Being on the island is an experience in itself. The various bunkers, the wine cellar(s), the lighthouse, the sheep, and the view from the greenhouse make this a place you won't soon forget. You look out over the water for miles. Truly fantastic. But then there's the food. To be honest, we had expected more from that. At such a unique location, with this price level, you hope for dishes that surprise you. Not just in terms of presentation, but especially in terms of taste. You also expect a nice story to accompany the dishes. Unfortunately, that was lacking. The service felt somewhat rushed and, once again, nonchalant (Gen-z). The plates were placed down quickly with a brief listing of the ingredients, after which the waitress walked away before there was time for questions. That felt like a shame, especially in a place where the story behind the products and the island could add so much to the experience. We chose a nice bottle of red wine, but had to refill it ourselves all evening. Upon opening, nothing was said about its origin either. With 30 degrees outside, the temperature of the wine rose rapidly, causing some of the flavor to be lost quickly. Especially with a special bottle, one would expect a bit more attention and some temperature control. The absolute highlight of the menu was the lamb. Perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and full of flavor. During the 45-minute return trip, we were still looking forward to the final course of the menu: “sweet.” Ultimately, that turned out to be a cup of coffee (decaf not available) with a small piece of butter cake. That felt like a missed opportunity. Especially during such an atmospheric return trip, a selection of local Amsterdam sweets or chocolates could have beautifully concluded the evening. All in all, we really had a wonderful evening. Vuurtoreneiland is a unique place and absolutely worth a visit. That is precisely why it feels like there is still a tremendous amount of untapped potential. With more attention to hospitality, storytelling, and taste, this could undoubtedly rank among the absolute top of Dutch restaurants. Tips for the owner: • Work even more with local ingredients from the island (vegetable garden) and the surrounding area, and tell the story behind them. • Let taste be at least as important as presentation. • Invest in service that visibly radiates enjoyment and immerses guests in the experience. • Pay more attention to wine service; the potential with the cellars is perfect! • Make the final course a memorable conclusion to the evening. We will be back in a few years to try it again!

Amazing unique experience - certainly including sleeping

Would really recommend it. We did the summer restaurant and it was a great experience. It was a lovely island and the food was great!!! Such a fun experience and hope to do the winter version once. We had some bad luck because another random inexperienced sailor entered the lock and we needed to wait for the police to sent him out before we could leave. But the team handled this well, they updated us transparently about the situation and gave a drink on the house.

Yesterday I went to Lighthouse Island, a unique experience that can only be reached by boat. On board, there is a small snack platter and you can already order something to drink. After sailing for about an hour, you arrive at the location; the weather was beautifully sunny, which certainly contributed to the feeling. But then there is the food: the dishes look beautiful, but in terms of taste, in many cases, they are really far below par. Now for the calculation example: for 4 people, €700 is really not worth it. For that money, you can eat much better; some Michelin-starred restaurants are cheaper than this. In short, no, despite the unique concept, I cannot recommend it to anyone.

I went on the boat for the first time on a rainy day. And yet, strangely enough, a bright sun was shining, which delighted everyone... named: Wilbert. With enthusiasm, humor, and professionalism, he served generous, wonderful glasses of wine (and champagne) for a fantastic trip and experience. Thank you, Wilbert.

Simply superb! Location is really special and unique. Boat trip to get there takes approximately an hour and is very pleasant and relaxing. The location is sooo different. Because it was still the winter schedule we were underground which was actually brilliant and cosy. The staff could not have been nicer and more helpful. We had a girl on our table that had worked in Ireland and she was excellent. The food is really well chosen balanced and perfectly sized. Flavours were simply wonderful and 4 of us could not find fault. Would highly recommend and we opted for the wine pairing that was also cleverly thought through.

The experience with the boat and the remote location makes it interesting and different from the typical “ city centre experience “ however, my issue starts with the amount they charge you on all items; you could easily enjoy a true Michelin star experience in a proper restaurant in Amsterdam for that and more. I cannot say I recommend this place if you are a foodie for sure. Avoid the wine pairing at all costs if you are a wine snob like me.

Nice experience and beautiful island. You are immersed in the journey right from the start, as you go along on the boat. Here, you are served a charcuterie board. On the island, you are free to walk around and explore on your own. In the restaurant, everyone is served a fixed menu. The experience itself is fun, but the food was quite disappointing. The portions were small and simple. It wasn't enough. That is a shame for the price you pay. But I would still recommend it.

It was truly an unforgettable night. The food was plentiful and delicious. The winter restaurant was like a castle and the accompanying juice was delicious. I got the feeling like I was dreaming. I want to thank the staff. Everyone was friendly.

A very special and long food experience. A very special and unique location. You really have to experience this. The food was good, with unique flavor combinations. The service was constantly rushed, with no time for a chat or hospitality. They simply operate with too little staff for the number of guests; they work extremely hard because they have no time other than to sell as much wine as possible. The boat trip takes at least an hour there and an hour back, so you are busy from 18:00 to 23:30, either on the way or dining. Everything was absolutely incredible. The ride to the island is fun and cozy, accompanied by some snacks and drinks which make you excited for the experience to come. The island itself is magical, we got there in March at night and it felt like entering a different realm, you are handed oil lanterns as the staff greets you upon arrival, feels like entering a different century. You get to wander the island path for a few minutes with the most breathtaking night sky, since there is no light pollution. Once you reach the bunker where the restaurant is located, you are greeted by a warm, welcoming and intimate setting heated by old styled stoves and furs. Regarding the food…. the comments saying that it is not worth it could not be more wrong. We received 5 courses (+cheese platter) and each one of them was mind blowing, an explosion of flavors in every bite. The products and ingredients are all locally sourced , which makes it even more unique. The highlight for us was the venison steak and the celeriac and artichoke dish with hazelnut sauce, but all the dishes were absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend.

We felt there were too many things that weren't quite right. Let's start with the positives. -Some of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. -The boat was clean and well-maintained. -The same goes for the location on Vuurtoreneiland, everything was very tidy. What was extremely disappointing: There was absolutely no romantic, cozy atmosphere on the boat. We were sitting at a table with other people, shoulder to shoulder. It was stuffy because of the many people in the small space and the poor ventilation. Because of this, the windows fogged up, and we could barely see outside. It was also incredibly loud on the boat because of the many people in such a small space. Upon arrival, there was a small amount of cheese with pickles and some sausage. We found it rather poor, but didn't want to jump to conclusions. On arrival at Vuurtoreneiland, we had an inconvenient but otherwise short walk to the location. We were then served a so-called 5-course dinner, which in our opinion was absolutely not worth the money. Five tiny portions of food, albeit good, were extremely small. Each course consisted of only one product...unbelievable... The quality was still more than adequate, but again, far too small, and the courses were also very basic. We came home a good 300 euros lighter and deeply disappointed, because even half the price would have been too expensive for us. I do want to emphasize that the staff generally made a good and pleasant impression, but that doesn't compensate for the rest. It was insufficient for us, especially considering the hefty price we paid.

A real unique fine dining experience! 5 courses served in an ambient and cozy fort! If you are sitting far from the fire place might be a bit chilly tho! But overall, can be cooler than A’dam so add one more layer if you are visiting the winter restaurant. For being lactose intolerant, nice alternatives are served instead of the cheese as an example. One last heads up, be prepared for an hour trip on the boat to the island and an hour back!

Dinner and overnight stay. Even from the boat, it was a special experience and we thoroughly enjoyed it! We enjoyed some snacks on the boat, and after settling into the cottage with its fantastic view over the water, we could pick up a drinks platter. The bubbly was already provided. The dinner with its matching wines was delicious. Waking up on the island in peace and quiet, followed by a delicious breakfast, made it all complete.

This is my second time eating at Vuurtoreneiland, and I always find it a fantastic experience! Last time I was in the winter, this time in the summer. Both times were great! I always find the staff super friendly. The food was delicious and pure, but unfortunately, we were both a bit hungry afterward. The dishes are small... The food is served at a fast pace, sometimes it felt a bit rushed. A new dish was on the table every 25 minutes. If you have a wine pairing, it's served at the same pace, so I recommend getting a half-price wine pairing. You have to empty your glass before you can start a new wine, as you only get one for the entire evening. ;) I sometimes switched from wine to juice during the evening, and those were delicious!

Vuurtoreneiland had been on my list for a while, and it didn't disappoint. The vegan menu pleasantly surprised me: creative, flavorful, and carefully prepared. The vegan snack platter could have been more generous, but the dinner more than made up for it. The island setting is cozy, and the staff made sure we had everything we needed; the atmosphere is perfect. Warm, well-prepared, and unique. I'd love to come back, especially for the summer restaurant.

A beautiful, atmospheric location. Dinner is served in the former ammunition bunkers during the winter and in the island's greenhouse during the summer. The local ingredients are deliciously prepared. Given the restaurant's very busy schedule, reservations are (almost) mandatory if you want to make this location and experience a special evening.

I believe there's more potential in the overall experience. The location is beautiful and unique, that's for sure! In terms of service, I think there's still a lot of room for improvement. Especially at this beautiful, intimate venue, personal service would give the evening that extra something special, making it unforgettable. Unfortunately, in my opinion, this isn't currently the case. In the winter restaurant, there was a very pleasant woman who enthusiastically talked about the wines. Her approach to her work, in my opinion, is the perfect example of how it should be done. The other staff who brought the food, in my opinion, just recited a rehearsed story and disappeared. The quality of the food itself is also not commensurate with the price. All in all, I had a nice evening, but it didn't meet my expectations.

All in all, it was a really great experience! The welcome at the dock was warm. The boat trip was very enjoyable and flew by with a snack platter and a drink. The bunker on the island where the winter restaurant is located is super atmospheric and warmly decorated. The food was delicious. Portions weren't overly large (fine dining), but with the homemade bread that was refilled, it was more than enough. The only downside was the wine glasses, which were poured to the brim, and I'm not talking about the half-price wine package. This is really unacceptable for a glass of around 8 to 10 euros, but this is becoming more common in restaurants and bars. All in all, a very enjoyable experience and I would definitely recommend it!

We had a memorable evening at Vuurtoreneiland, with many elements done very well, but a few important missteps around dietary accommodation and service accuracy that impacted the overall experience. The positives first: the setting is truly unique and atmospheric, the ambiance is warm and intimate, the wine selection was thoughtful and very well paired, and the staff were friendly and welcoming throughout the evening. We also liked most of our dishes which were nicely combined. The execution of them was also quite eye-pleasing. However, there were several moments where our clearly communicated “non-cheese eater” preference was not properly followed through. On the boat to the restaurant, three slices of cheese were served, despite the person at the door having acknowledged that our table included one non-cheese eater. Later, at the restaurant, the deer course was accidentally skipped and replaced by the cheese course. Only after we mentioned this was the deer course then served. The cheese course itself was the biggest disappointment. While the cheese eaters received a full cheese course, the non-cheese eater was given a single caramelized slice of carrot. This felt more like an omission than a true alternative. A cheese course is about richness, variety, and indulgence, and the replacement did not feel equivalent in thought, substance, or experience — especially at this level of dining. Finally, we noticed an extra beer on our bill at the end that we had not ordered. This was resolved, but it added to the feeling that some details were missed during the evening. Overall, Vuurtoreneiland offers a beautiful setting, strong wines, and a lovely atmosphere, but greater attention to dietary alternatives and service accuracy would significantly improve the experience and help all guests feel equally considered.

What an experience on a dark Tuesday evening in November with the full moon as guest, speechless 😍😍😍 The boatride, the staff, the night that gives it the mysterious feeling, the island, the lighthouse, the cozy walk down to the basement, the food, and once again, the staff - simply wow! The whole experience felt like being in a movie. The (winter) restaurant is in the old fort with so much character, yet kept so simple. The food really mindblowing especially taking into account they use mainly old cooking methods. And the staff were so professional, friendly and open! We got lucky to be seated at the chef's table and watching them prepare 5-courses for 55 people in the smoothest way imaginable was a full experience in itself. Cannot recommend enough!

The experience was wonderful and romantic. The food was excellent, though we were unfortunately still hungry. And the dishes came so quickly that you could barely finish the wine. While the wine was so good, you had to drink faster than in a pub, which kind of took away the feeling of fine dining. So, it's better to order half glasses instead of full ones. All in all, a lovely experience, but too expensive for the food you get.

Great evening. First by boat, then a short tour and history of the island, followed by delicious, fresh, and good food. The atmosphere is great, and the Danish people are very friendly.

A truly wonderful experience. The boat trip through the orange locks, arriving on the island, and walking to the restaurant with an oil lamp. For me, being from the area, that alone was amazing. The food was delicious. My guest had a vegetarian meal and enjoyed it. The service is friendly and energetic, and it contributes to the atmosphere in the vaults of the old fort. Highly recommended; we had a fantastic evening! But please don't forget your bag or something, otherwise you'll have to wait for the boat the next day to get it back. It's also a good story for later :-)

What an incredible experience. Everything was absolutely amazing. Every course better than the last.

Overall the experience was great from the start: going to the boat, arriving at the island and walking with the lights to the restaurant. The food was tasty although not very memorable or special, but it was really good. We enjoyed it. The service however, we found to be unnecessarily rude or not particularly interested in caring for the guests. A few examples: in the boat, we asked what they served and they replied “just tell us what you want and we’ll tell you if we have it”, we sat in the wrong table and one of the waiter wanted to make it a point that we made a mistake instead of helping us correct it, and after dinner service we were abruptly rushed to leave the restaurant with “a minute” notice to board the boat as if we were being kicked out. These small details would have made the whole experience even more enjoyable and we would have recommended it to others but I don’t think it’s worth the hype when the experience isn’t seamless with their service, especially given how hard it is to book a spot these days.

Don't pay any attention to the one star reviews. However I would recommend that you do some research before you pay the deposit. 14 days from your reservation it is non-refundable or transferable. Also, look at the breakdown of what you're paying for. The dinner is only a portion of the cost and the little island does require upkeep. So 10 euro each for that purpose seems reasonable. You should expect a group of around 50 people and two servers on the boat. You will be assigned a table when you check in at the dock. They clearly have a process so some bit of patience is required along the way. When you arrive on the island I highly recommend using the restroom (it is inside the old fort). From the summer dining room it is down the hill and around the corner so over the course of the 3 hour visit you're going to want to limit the number of trips you take. Depending on the time of year you should expect lower temperatures and higher wind than the main land. There is plenty of room inside the boat and they provide blankets in the dining room. Dinner is a fine dining experience. 5 or 6 courses on a fixed menu for your specific day. Small portions are the norm for this style of dining. Mostly vegetarian but for our visit the main was venison. Another couple we spoke to didn't really get a vegetarian substitute for it so if that's your menu style you should probably check into it. I recommend the wine pairing. 35 euro for the 1/2 was plenty for us and the variety was excellent. While there is additional staff in the dining room, once again there is a 50 person seating all at the same time. They have a system, you just need a little patience. Overall we found each course thoughtfully prepared with excellent wine pairings. Beyond the food and drinks it is a unique experience that we greatly enjoyed (and we aren't really boat people).

A truly unique experience: cozy, peaceful, and a truly unique gift for someone who loves slowing down in nature. Everything was perfectly taken care of. We stayed overnight and will never forget the experience!

Excellent experience! I got a bit worried reading some of the less positive reviews, which I suspect - in some cases at least - was due to language difficulties . We had a wonderful experience, and a beautiful evening. If you’re a non-Dutch speaker, you should expect some differences- you won’t get the same level of information about the island, and perhaps the food too. I think some visitors expect everyone to accommodate their language limitations, which this place is perhaps less tolerant of than most in Amsterdam.

A very relaxing afternoon out, but the food was disappointing. We were there on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, so the boat trip and the experience on the island were fantastic. The staff was extremely friendly. The food left much to be desired in several respects. There's a 5-course chef's menu. The portions were so small that we asked for extra bread, even though we weren't starving at the start of the meal. The quality of the ingredients is good, and the dishes are simple. There's nothing wrong with that, but the dishes have to be excellent, which wasn't the case. The flavors weren't always balanced. For example, the raw sea bass came with a paprika sauce that was far too sour, making it impossible to taste the fish. The strained curd with the beef tenderloin was also an odd combination. Dessert was a scoop of homemade ice cream with a berry sauce; there really should be more creativity. On the boat, we were given a platter with some cheese, beef sausage, gherkins, and mustard that looked like it had been randomly thrown onto the platter. On the way back, we were served a mini cupcake, but the staff accidentally skipped us. The sourdough bread was one of the better dishes, which speaks volumes. The price of the 5-course menu is 85 euros, which is disproportionate to the quality. We didn't choose the wine pairing because one glass per course is a lot. Due to the island's water shortage, you use the same glass, so you have to empty it with every course. Instead, we ordered wine and non-alcoholic drinks from the menu, and they didn't disappoint. The staff has to serve a large group at once, and you can tell, but we never felt rushed. All in all, we had a wonderful afternoon that could have been even better if more care had been put into the food.

On one hand a nice atmosphere and experience but totally not worth 120 euro per person for food only. Food was boring, portions were small and if you have any food restrictions be ready to get a boring dish instead. Our waiter was getting tired of explaining the dishes to everyone, so in the end of the night we couldn’t understand what he was saying

Beautiful and unique location. The food was disappointing; 3/5 dishes weren't convincing, especially compared to what we had enjoyed a few years ago. The service is friendly, but feels very perfunctory. It feels like they've repeated the island routine so often that it's taken the fun out of it. If you have a question about wine, the answer is "I'm not a sommelier." We had a good time, but it's currently way too expensive for what you get.

Okay, but overpriced. The food was absolutely not tasty or interesting. Only the first course was okay... The main course was just beets with a sauce. And that for €300 for two people, and we didn't even bother with the drinks. Oh yeah, I'm still hungry!!!

A truly fantastic experience! From the relaxing and beautiful boat trip where we learned about the surrounding nature, it was fantastic. The food was delicious (including vegetarian options), the service was informal but good, the cottage was superb (with a view over the water), and the breakfast in the morning was fantastic, enjoying the sunshine overlooking the water. Everything was thought of, and we wanted for nothing!

This was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I have ever had in my life. Staff were inattentive, rude and generally annoyed by requests for drinks even though I watched them happily serving other tables while we sat without any refreshments (including water) on the boat ride to the island for at least 20 minutes. Once there, we were rushed off the boat but told we could explore the island for 15 minutes - don’t dare go over! Don’t expect anyone to indicate where the toilets are without having to ask - you would expect them to be in the restaurant but *surprise* they are not. Instead, the toilets are in a separate building to the main restaurant down quite a steep hill, so again - given the lack of interest by staff in actually helping anyone - I had to ask for this information myself, much to their annoyance obviously - apparently the staff did not get the memo on what it means to work in horeca, perhaps some trainings could help them grasp the basic concepts of hospitality, or maybe they just don’t care - at the end of the day, they get our money either way. I did the set menu with wine pairing, the servers didn’t take any time to explain the dishes properly or how the wine paired with the food and were generally not very engaged or enthusiastic. The food itself was TERRIBLE (I am even inclined to say inedible since I didn’t finish most dishes and had to eat again when I got home since I was starving). If you are a foodie, DO NOT go here - McDonalds would have been better, at least they know what salt is and how to use it. The vegetables in one of my dishes were burned and bitter - they tried to hide this with a flavourless type of saucy foam but if you can’t even do the basics right, I’d probably just stick to grilling vegetables without burning them before attempting some sort of saucy foam garnish. None of the dishes had any flavour, I had to ask for salt and pepper (which they of course LOVED) and then douse my food in it since apparently they don’t seem to make use of any seasonings in the kitchen. Dessert was an absolute joke - frozen blueberries with one tiny scoop of ice cream that tasted like air. I could make that at home and it would probably taste better (Ben&Jerrys where you at!?). We spoke to another couple after dinner and they agreed that the food was not good but then commented how people don’t go for the food, but rather the “experience” - I’m not really sure what “experience” they were referring to. You can literally book a boat ride to other islands without needing a €250 deposit and an assault on your taste buds should you just want the “experience” of riding on a boat and exploring a random island. The entire evening was completely rushed from start to finish - including getting to the boat, getting off the boat, and then having to leave the restaurant before even swallowing your last bite of dessert. Zero time to just sit and relax at the location after eating. If you want to use the bathroom after dessert you better hop to it during the main course before they herd you out of the restaurant like a flock of sheep. I made the grave mistake of thinking I could use the restroom before heading back to the boat and was then treated to a staff member knocking on my stall to hurry me along since the boat was leaving (all while I was still very much busy using the toilet, which of course made me very uncomfortable). Extremely unprofessional and rude to rush a patron while they are in the toilet - I didn’t think bathroom use was a luxury but apparently it is at Zomerrestaurant Vuurtpreneiland. We were offered coffee/tea on the boat back, however, my cappuccino was unsurprisingly cold. All in all, this “experience” cost me €450 and I wish I had rather used that money for a weekend away since this particular occasion was to celebrate my second anniversary and unfortunately it was totally ruined. Not one for the books which is sad since these are moment we can’t get back. If the company has any decency, they will offer a refund because it was a shocking night.

Great night out. Just to be clear you pay for the experience not the food. Food was good not amazing and service was up and down! Definitely staying here is awesome! Had a great time.

Ok, así que esto es único y definitivamente una experiencia cuando en amerstdam! Esta es básicamente una pequeña isla rural en el agua cerca de Amersterdam. La isla fue utilizada en la guerra como un aspecto - hacia fuera para la invasión y todavía tiene un número de búnkeres de la guerra mundial. La isla es pequeña, pero mucho de lo que se utiliza en la cocina se produce literalmente de la tierra de la isla. La isla tiene dos restaurantes... el restaurante de verano y el restaurante de invierno. El restaurante de verano es un conservatorio en el centro de la isla y el restaurante de invierno está increíblemente en los búnkeres de la guerra mundial. Tuvimos el placer de experimentar los búnkeres. Para llegar a la isla te encuentras con un barco donde te registran. A bordo del barco se le ofrecen bebidas y tienen una pequeña tabla de mordiscos caseros como mostazas, queso, encurtidos y carnes. El barco tarda unos 45 minutos en llegar a la isla con la puesta de sol mientras desapareces del puerto a través de las aguas. Este restaurante hace una promoción mínima, ya que es tan popular de boca en boca y reserva con 3 meses de antelación. Hay aminales en itinerancia y un par de pequeñas cabañas que han sido renovadas para que la gente pueda quedarse. Fuimos arrastrados a los búnkeres... cargados de historias e historia de la guerra, pero renovados de una manera genial. Caliente la iluminación suave de nuevo las paredes de ladrillo originales. La cocina también está en un buker convertido y totalmente abierto para que pueda ver a los chefs en el trabajo. La habitación es impresionante y realmente da un zumbido de emoción. Se le dan menús, sin embargo, es la elección del chef menú degustación. Muchos de los platos fueron hechos de productos de la isla y una gran cantidad de ahumado se hace en otros búnkeres o almacenes de guerra. Después de la cena, será guiado por la luz de las velas más allá de otros búnkeres y subirá un parche de regreso al barco donde el personal se alinea para despedirse. Realmente fue una experiencia fantástica, única y memorable.

Questa "gita" si può fare sia in versione invernale che estiva. Noi abbiamo fatto una delle ultime tappe invernali, con cena all'interno del grande bunker. Il cibo era ottimo, l'abbinamento dei vini era discreto. Ciò che rende incantevole l'esperienza è intanto l'incontro con altre persone sulla barca che in un'ora ti porta alla piccola isola, in seguito l'atmosfera è magica perché si può godere il silenzio , l'assenza di connessioni con il mondo esterno (finalmente!) e la vista della città all'orizzonte. Il prezzo, non banale, probabilmente non la inserisce tra le "cose da vedere" ma a mio parere è assolutamente da fare

After almost two years we got lucky to make a reservation to this place. Huge expectations after we heard so many good things. The experience itself with the boat trip, the island, the restaurant and the food concept is cool but it might be in my opinion way much better. Personally we didnt like the food itself, most of the courses were tasteless, redfish super small bite with dashi was probably the okaysh dish but the rest and the dessert as well with rhubarb didnt work for us at all. I would rather pay 30/40/50 euro more to get proper bites on the boat, which were 2 piece of cheese and some pickles and get better food at the restaurant because i can imagine for this price they should contain costs so i understand they cant make big or "fancy" food. Bread and butter i have to say is really good. Wine cellar is very well done and the selection of wine as well but they dont have proper knowledge to explain you some differences bewteen wine which is a pity and is something you would expect in such a place. The lady who served us was very kind and funny but with the rest of the staff we didnt feel welcomed. The island is nice but nothing special as well, for what you pay and what you get above all a disappointing experience.

Every trip that requires you to get to the location by boat is of course almost a success. Very nice atmosphere, you can enjoy walking around before dinner. The quality of the food is not bad, but remains slightly behind the rest of the concept.

Leuke ervaring; boottocht leuk als je buiten kunt zitten, binnen teveel als opgesloten vee. Mooi winterrestaurant, personeel werkt indrukwekkend hard. Erg veel lawaai, komt door akoestiek bunker. Gerechtjes goed, ontbreekt aan aankleding bordjes (geen aardappeltje, puree of groente). Daardoor net niet top! De prijs/kwaliteit daardoor uit balans. Zeker ook met glaasje wijn van 9 euro. Tenslotte past het niet om bijna hele bedrag vooruit te laten betalen.

A special weekend on Vuurtoreneiland! Yesterday we spent an overnight stay on this small island, completely surrounded by nature and history. We went there and back by boat, which made the adventure even more special. We ate in the old bunker, which was heated by wood stoves and lit by candles. We also climbed the lighthouse, with a great view over the water and nature. A unique place to completely relax and enjoy the silence and the view. Definitely recommended!

Goed georganiseerd,bijzonder fijn uitstapje over water. Klein,fijn eiland met prachtige inrichting en aanpassingen voor bezoekers. Lekker gegeten ( met uitzondering van die trendy gefrituurde boerenkool. En de runderlende mag voorgesneden zijn,of met een scherper mes worden gereserveerd). Heerlijke rode wijn. De begeiding,service, mag iets meer tijd besteden aan hun gasten. Het voelde als routine .

Went here to celebrate a birthday (mostly vegans, all non-dutch speakers). Most of the food was very good, but I would not recommend. For the cost - the ambiance and environment wasn't pleasant, and it felt generally like a second-class experience compared to other diners. On the boat over they spent around 10 minutes talking about the island in Dutch. They came by to do it in English, but it was only a couple of minutes and everyone had started talking again so you couldn't hear much. Once on the island, they had us all stand around while they spoke in Dutch for 10-15minutes and didn't repeat any in English (despite there being multiple English speaking groups). So it was very dark, very, very cold, and we had to stand around waiting for no reason. It was really a "I'm paying for this?" moment lol. Before booking we called and asked if they accommodated vegans. In fairness, they did warn us they might not be able to substitute everything in equal measure. The food was good, but it wasn't anywhere near as nice / technically impressive / filling as the standard menu. Since the website discusses a focus on plants we were expecting more. Ambiance wise: I couldn't hear the people I was sitting with (really big table for 4) but it felt too quiet in the cellar to talk any louder. Otherwise, the bunker was a cool setting. These might seem like small complaints (because they are), but we researched a long time for restaurants for a special event before picking Vuurtoreneiland. If we had known how it would go we would've picked elsewhere (like De Kas or Men Impossible). For the cost, you should feel good about the experience when you leave. We felt cold and hungry. Probably it's better in the summer / for non-vegans / if you speak Dutch.

From the moment you step on board until the moment you return, it is a complete experience. The service is friendly and attentive, and the food was excellent. The matching wines were excellent, and there was an excellent non-alcoholic alternative to the Bob.

Boat trip was very fun and surprising. Small platter with cheese, pickle and a fuet-like sausage. Fine, but nothing special. The reception on the island was warm and after a short tour, the weather was bitterly cold, we walked to the fort. 5 course menu with accompanying wine arrangement. The food was not bad but certainly not surprising! The formatting was also very disappointing. Few techniques for the dishes. A stew, an Jerusalem artichoke in three different ways, a piece of mackerel with overpowering capers, a tasty piece of fallow deer and a scoop of vanilla ice cream with crunch, crème anglaise, whipped cream and cranberry. All in all, we were disappointed, we expected more. The experience of going to the restaurant by boat remains beautiful, but the cooking level needs to be taken a step higher!

My friend introduced me to this great concept. We were very pleased with the concept and have been looking forward to it for a long time. However, this was very disappointing to us. In total we paid €350 for 2 people and a number of things were really wrong. First of all, we understand that this experience costs more than eating out in a 'normal' restaurant. However, I would also like to mention that €350 for 2 people is very disappointing for this quality. The boat trip was nothing wrong with it, and the reception on the island was good. The bunkers looked beautiful and the decoration was beautiful! However, the food and menu experience were very disappointing. When we walked in we were given freshly baked sourdough bread. This was tasty but also extremely burnt on one side. A little burnt is not a problem at all, but the black was flaking off and was really inedible! The first course consisted of something with Jerusalem artichoke, which was fine. Our second course was a piece of fish, which was really cold. And not because it was supposed to, but because it was probably served too late. The taste was ok, but not special and quite simple. And yes, cold fish, that is simply not possible. The third course consisted of a do-it-yourself endive stew. Beautifully served, but personally we didn't think this dish was restaurant-worthy in terms of taste. This may be very personal, but I don't think mashed potato with endive leaves is anything special. The fourth dish was ok. The venison was very tough and had little taste and the vegetarian dish was especially very salty. Finally, dessert was a scoop of vanilla ice cream with some crunch, red berries and whipped cream. For €80.00 per person for a menu, we were disappointed in the portions and quality. This may of course be personal, but the fact that my friend ordered a pizza when we got home doesn't seem normal to me. Furthermore, it would have made a big difference if someone from the wait staff had asked "did you fix it?" just once in the evening. Literally not once did anyone ask what we thought of it or anything like that. The plates were taken away without saying or asking anything. We thought this was quite strange. The service wasn't bad, don't get me wrong, but we never once had the feeling that they cared. Furthermore, the wine pairing was ok, but not special. White wines were very tasty, but the first red wine was not at all. Second red wine not special. Finally, I would like to say that the pace was really unpleasant. We came in, got food, it was taken away and we were immediately given a new course. I understand that there is less time on Sundays, but it really felt like an assembly line. All in all a disappointing experience for the €350 we spent.

A really great experience. You will be welcomed on the boat that will take you to the island for 45 minutes. When we arrived on the island, we had a short but fun tour, after which we were allowed to take a seat in the bunker (winter restaurant). The photos cannot show how beautiful and atmospheric this location is. We had a table near the kitchen (chef's table) which made the experience even more unique. The service was certainly not too bad either, we had a super nice host who made the experience complete.

Para nosotros la ubicación no era obvia, pero llegamos allí con la ayuda de un taxista maravilloso. Si te alojas en el centro de la ciudad, planifica 1 hora ya que irás en hora punta. Nuestra noche estaba lloviendo, lo que no ayudó. El paseo al barco es oscuro. Use zapatos inteligentes si el clima es húmedo. Subir y bajar del barco puede ser resbaladizo. El paseo desde el barco hasta el búnker es oscuro. Unos faroles más habrían sido bienvenidos. Esta es una experiencia muy excelente y fuimos uno de los pocos no holandeses que participaron en la noche. Claramente a los lugareños les encanta y eso lo hace aún mejor.

Vuurtoreneiland offers a beautiful, unique experience, but the food fell short. The evening starts on a high note with a boat ride to the island, complete with a cheese plate and nibbles – a lovely touch that sets a warm and inviting tone. The walk on the island and the romantic journey back, complete with a digestive, make the setting truly special. However, the dining itself was disappointing. The main course, particularly the meat, was tough, fatty, and grisly. When we mentioned it to the servers, we were told this was how it’s meant to be served, which didn’t really address our concern. Would I go back? It’s a hard call. The atmosphere and experience are incredible and worth trying once, but the quality of the food might keep me from returning.

Beautiful place, but too expensive for what you get. The five course dinner was mediocre. The focus is too much on trendy/hip food, but the portions are too small, there is little coherence between the dishes, and a link with the environment and the special history is completely missing. That's a shame, because if you charge about EUR 150 per person for a dinner, and you spread it over three hours, then you create expectations. Five tiny dishes - Jerusalem artichoke, piece of fish, half a potato in a salt crust, piece of meat and one scoop of ice cream, that is simply substandard. What makes it all the more annoying is that it is all presented quite haughtily. Unfortunately, that has become an Amsterdam disease: lots of talk, but little wool. A little modesty doesn't hurt. By the way, it wasn't bad, the decoration is beautiful, but if you pay 750 EUR for one night away and a bite to eat, then it simply has to be above & beyond.

We slept and ate on Lighthouse Island for the first time on Saturday. My honest opinion: way too overpriced for what you get. The quality of the food was fine, nothing special. Sleeping was terrible, very small hut, which is not cleaned (even the food is not taken from the room), and you cannot do anything on the island so you are really a bit stuck there. The boat leaves much too late the next day, so you have no idea what to do after breakfast, because the island is too small to walk. I thought it was way too expensive and not worth the money at all. A waste of my 800 euros.

Dining here is a unique experience. The restaurant transports guests by boat to an island with 19th-century bunkers. After a brief hike and introduction, you enter the renovated bunkers, which provide a warm and cozy atmosphere. They have an extensive wine selection that you can personally choose from their cellar. Each dish was exquisite and well prepared, with excellent service to match. Overall, it’s not just about the food or the restaurant, but the entire experience, making it a perfect spot for celebrating special occasions.

What a super fun experience this evening was! Cozy in the boat and walk with a lantern under the full moon. Drinks and sweets on the boat could have been a little more extensive. But the food in the restaurant was delicious and creative. With the guidance of the enthusiastic team it was a 5 star experience. We will come back again in the summer!

Had a great night out and in great surroundings. The food is quite disappointing when you compare it with the other facets of this concept. Raw string beans (all raw beans are poisonous, okay... a few beans can't hurt, but still), a blackened leek still in its tough outer skin, a brill fillet that is really undercooked (up to twice), salad side dish with some cheese grater (lack of inspiration it seems) and a dessert that you can expect in a cafe, but certainly not in this ambiance. For the money you have to pay for this dinner, this is really below par. A shame because literally everything works perfectly.

Today we ate for the first time in the restaurant of Lighthouse Island. What a pity that the food at such a beautiful location is far below standard, the food lacks refined flavors and the dessert stuck to the bottom. I thought the price ratio to the quality of the food and wine was very high. The surroundings and atmosphere are fantastic. This place deserves more culinary attention.

It was a bit far to get to the launch point (ironically we could see the island from where we were staying but the boat left from the other side of the bay) but couldn’t fault it as an experience.

Nice experience with an old ferry (hybrid) to the lighthouse island and back after dinner. The food could be a little better. The service is very friendly. We had a very nice evening with 4 people. We think you should see it as an event and not as a dinner party, which is quite nice at the old fort.

Stupid good!! I cannot overstate how good the entire experience was. We were lucky enough to have the winter service inside of the the ammunition bunkers and the ambiance and birch smoke smell only added to the experience.

An idyllic place and the food, contrary to some reviews, was better than expected. Beautiful matching wines. Organization, on the other hand, was quite poor, a week in advance the boarding location suddenly changed and then the boat arrived 45 minutes late. For this money I would have thought it would have been nice if we had come across this, for example a glass of drink on the house or a little longer time on the island. But then we were back at the boarding point half an hour earlier. Food felt a bit rushed, courses were served quite quickly one after the other. As far as we (the island) are concerned, it was a really nice experience for once, but I wouldn't go again anytime soon.

The food is veryyy delicious and the atmosphere is fantastic. I definitely recommend this place for a special occasion. The only thing I would change if I was a cook I would check if the vegetarian option contains the same amount of protein that a meat one. Because it feels like mushrooms are not that fullfeeling ingredients that meat.

Ir a Vuurtoreneiland fue una experiencia increíble y única. Usted paga por adelantado el menú de ajuste del precio fijo. A las 6: 30 PM, un pequeño barco te lleva a la isla desde Amsterdam (nos uber'ed al muelle y de vuelta desde el centro de Amsterdam). Cada partido tiene un número de mesa. En el barco, te sirven un poco de queso y salchichas. Hay un bar en el barco y si pide algo, el costo se agrega a su pestaña de mesa. (No nos dimos cuenta hasta después de que las bebidas no estaban incluidas). El barco tarda unos 30 minutos. Una vez en la isla, puedes pasear un poco y puedes ir a la bodega si te interesa comprar una botella de vino. De lo contrario, puede hacer un maridaje de vinos por un precio muy justo. Hay 5 platos. Todo se cultiva localmente y se cocina a la perfección sobre o con fuego. El menú va a variar, pero teníamos tomates asados, pescado, sal - puré de papas al horno con flores comestibles, carne de res y yogur / bayas de postre. El ritmo es justo. Entre platos, puede levantarse y ver la hermosa puesta de sol o disfrutar de un paseo por la propiedad. Con el postre, se puede tomar café o té (no nos dimos cuenta de que añaden 2 euros - - como con la copa de vino en el barco, prefiero que solo cobran un poco más por adelantado). El barco le devuelve al muelle de Amsterdam alrededor de las 11 : 15 PM. El servicio es excelente y la comida es deliciosa. No demasiado complicado, pero perfectamente ejecutado y delicioso. La única crítica constructiva que tengo es que el lugar de reunión (que básicamente es un muelle) podría ser un poco más claro y creo que el restaurante simplemente debería cobrar 5 - 10 euros más por persona e incluir el vino a bordo y el café / té post-cena para que no haya sorpresas al final. Esta es una experiencia completamente única y estamos contentos de haber ido.

Een brilliant plek. De rede van de boeking was de verjaardag van mijn vriendin. Ik heb hiervoor veel positieve verhalen aangehoord, maar toen wij op het eiland aankwamen waren wij verbaasd door de prachtige, rustige omgeving. Het huisje (#1, aan het einde van een van de stijgers. Veel privacy met een prachtig uitzicht over het meer) was heerlijk om samen te beleven. Tijdens het diner hebben wij mogen genieten van vijf riante gangen met een mix van vlees en groenten. Het wijn arrangement was ook een mooie toevoeging. Glazen werden meerdere keren met vijf verschillende wijnen die zoals verwacht goed paren met de gerechten. Daarnaast is er nog een prachtige "wijnbunker", waar je een heerlijke wijn naar keuze kunt selecteren voor tijdens of na het diner. Met deze heerlijke wijnfles aan onze zijde zijn wij na het diner op pad gegaan. Bij de steiger hadden wij een prachtig moment. Als je naar boven kijkt zie je sterren, op ooghoogte zie je een toom van eenden in het water landen. Een mooie omgeving voor een romantisch moment. Wij hebben heerlijk geslapen. Het ontbijt was relatief simpel maar de goede ingrediënten maken dat goed. Brood, yoghurt en een eitje samen met een goede espresso start de dag goed. De boottocht terug was rustig, en wij kwamen heerlijk uitgerust thuis. Al met al een unieke ervaring die het zeker waard is

Beautiful location. But including overnight stay, much too expensive for what it is worth.

Very nice on the boat, nice service and very tasty food.

Locatie is top. Personeel is vriendelijk. Het voelt echter onpersoonlijk aan. Eten wordt geserveerd, meer ook niet. Porties zijn klein en onsamenhangend. Daarom waarschijnlijk ook de extra porties brood die je krijgt. Kwaliteit/prijs niet in verhouding. Lichtelijk teleurstellend.

Food and service are seriously below par for the money you spend. Some of the staff do their best, the rest give the impression of passing on everything quickly so that they can return home quickly. It is a beautiful place, but the whole thing falls apart due to the lack of quality of service and food. When you get off the boat you certainly haven't had enough. Upon arrival, a dried sausage with dried pickle is ready. Clearly prepared well in advance. The cheese tasted fine. On the way back you get something sweet. Literally a cookie from the tin and a block of chocolate. That was it. A beer from the bottle for 5 euros. Served in a lemonade glass. In the restaurant they openly shake the bottles of wine. All the bits of red together and you have a full bottle of wine again. Ice cold red wine... No, not again.

Boottocht is leuk en ambiance ook. Eten is zwaar onder de maat: zeer kleine porties, geen uitgebalanceerd geheel en qua smaakbeleving voldeden de gerechten niet aan het niveau wat op z'n minst topkwaliteit zou moeten zijn. Wijnen zijn goed en lekker maar hebben geen enkele binding met de gerechten. Zeker niet de ruim 300 euro waard die je aan het eind van de avond voor 2 personen moet afrekenen.

Went for dinner with colleagues. Very nice original experience. The summer restaurant is very nice, but eating in the fort also seems like fun! Recommended!

Such a cool experience! Really loved it. We snagged a waitlist spot for our anniversary and it was super special. Loved being able to roam the island grounds in between courses and the boat was nice to sit outside on the way there and then nice and cozy on the way back. Will hopefully be back for winter and will defo recommend to others!

We expected more from this to be honest. The experience taking the boat to the island was great, staff initially didn’t consider my dietary wishes but otherwise things went smoothly. The greenhouse is gorgeously bright with good weather. Unfortunately the food was a great disappointment, not at all what we expected from this price. It looked alright but the taste just wasn’t very special, unfortunately. And the sweets on the way back were skipped. Overall, just very overpriced.

Awesome! Highly recommended and unique to do. We were still in the winter restaurant and we were happy with that because I think it was more fun than the summer restaurant. Super friendly staff and delicious food

Awful experience. Service has been nothing but rude. We were asked to either down our wines or throw our wine away after paying for a wine tasting menu. The wine description of one of the wines from the waiter was “its raspberry, strawberry and whatever other stuff grows with it”… Our plates were cleared even though we were not finished eating. We were rushed through the whole evening after having to spend extra half hour on the boat because the kitchen had “some issues”. Food was good but in no way did it match the price point the restaurant likes to position themselves. When asked to get our steak back on the grill for a few minutes the waiter laughed in our face. We took our family that came to visit from out of town for an experience and left with nothing but disappointment. It would be nice if the staff was able to deliver a level of service that’s expected at restaurants that want to perform at this level. Unfortunately that doesn't seem possible with their current staff. There are many other restaurants in Amsterdam at this price point that can actually deliver a great experience.

Super experience, delicious food, completely relaxed.

Overall it was a nice experience and was a bucket list item for us. The boat ride there was a bit over full and too hot. You share tables with other people in quite the small space. The platter on the boat was OK but nothing exceptional. We arrive at the island, but unfortunately, in winter, it is completely dark, and you cannot see much of the island . We walk in darkness to the restaurant itself is very beautiful and lit up with candles everywhere. Overall, the service was good and the wine was good. The food was disappointing especially at this price point. The food was quite bland and not on a fine dining level, especially taking into account how much we paid. The dishes were also small and will mot fill most. The food pales in comparison to places like slangevecht, and nomads which are at a much lower price point. It was also Valentine’s Day, and no theme or any form of decoration was added. On the way back sweets were promised, and a tin of biscuits were shared amongst the whole boat. This seemed quite funny and not what you would expect from this kind of experience. The boat ride home seemed tedious and long. To summarize, I would not recommend to go in winter, as half of the magic is gone, because you are completely in the dark. The experience itself would be nice in summer, but at this price point, I don’t think the food lives up to what was expected.

Visiting and dining at Vuurtoreneiland is an amazing experience! Starting with a boat ride, then the walk along the island and listening to its story and eventually the amazing food and service! I‘d definitely recommend!!

Difficult to assess something that consists of multiple facets. Boat trip is fun but extremely noisy you can barely hear each other. Food is severely substandard for that amount, student chef's work. The ambiance and experience may be 5 stars, but if you pay 350 euros for food and drinks it must be great. Wines are good and tasty but have no connection with the dishes. Parking/sleeping at the Loyld hotel is recommended
