We had a memorable evening at Vuurtoreneiland, with many elements done very well, but a few important missteps around dietary accommodation and service accuracy that impacted the overall experience. The positives first: the setting is truly unique and atmospheric, the ambiance is warm and intimate, the wine selection was thoughtful and very well paired, and the staff were friendly and welcoming throughout the evening. We also liked most of our dishes which were nicely combined. The execution of them was also quite eye-pleasing. However, there were several moments where our clearly communicated “non-cheese eater” preference was not properly followed through. On the boat to the restaurant, three slices of cheese were served, despite the person at the door having acknowledged that our table included one non-cheese eater. Later, at the restaurant, the deer course was accidentally skipped and replaced by the cheese course. Only after we mentioned this was the deer course then served. The cheese course itself was the biggest disappointment. While the cheese eaters received a full cheese course, the non-cheese eater was given a single caramelized slice of carrot. This felt more like an omission than a true alternative. A cheese course is about richness, variety, and indulgence, and the replacement did not feel equivalent in thought, substance, or experience — especially at this level of dining. Finally, we noticed an extra beer on our bill at the end that we had not ordered. This was resolved, but it added to the feeling that some details were missed during the evening. Overall, Vuurtoreneiland offers a beautiful setting, strong wines, and a lovely atmosphere, but greater attention to dietary alternatives and service accuracy would significantly improve the experience and help all guests feel equally considered.

What an experience on a dark Tuesday evening in November with the full moon as guest, speechless 😍😍😍 The boatride, the staff, the night that gives it the mysterious feeling, the island, the lighthouse, the cozy walk down to the basement, the food, and once again, the staff - simply wow! The whole experience felt like being in a movie. The (winter) restaurant is in the old fort with so much character, yet kept so simple. The food really mindblowing especially taking into account they use mainly old cooking methods. And the staff were so professional, friendly and open! We got lucky to be seated at the chef's table and watching them prepare 5-courses for 55 people in the smoothest way imaginable was a full experience in itself. Cannot recommend enough!

The experience was wonderful and romantic. The food was excellent, though we were unfortunately still hungry. And the dishes came so quickly that you could barely finish the wine. While the wine was so good, you had to drink faster than in a pub, which kind of took away the feeling of fine dining. So, it's better to order half glasses instead of full ones. All in all, a lovely experience, but too expensive for the food you get.

A truly wonderful experience. The boat trip through the orange locks, arriving on the island, and walking to the restaurant with an oil lamp. For me, being from the area, that alone was amazing. The food was delicious. My guest had a vegetarian meal and enjoyed it. The service is friendly and energetic, and it contributes to the atmosphere in the vaults of the old fort. Highly recommended; we had a fantastic evening! But please don't forget your bag or something, otherwise you'll have to wait for the boat the next day to get it back. It's also a good story for later :-)

Overall the experience was great from the start: going to the boat, arriving at the island and walking with the lights to the restaurant. The food was tasty although not very memorable or special, but it was really good. We enjoyed it. The service however, we found to be unnecessarily rude or not particularly interested in caring for the guests. A few examples: in the boat, we asked what they served and they replied “just tell us what you want and we’ll tell you if we have it”, we sat in the wrong table and one of the waiter wanted to make it a point that we made a mistake instead of helping us correct it, and after dinner service we were abruptly rushed to leave the restaurant with “a minute” notice to board the boat as if we were being kicked out. These small details would have made the whole experience even more enjoyable and we would have recommended it to others but I don’t think it’s worth the hype when the experience isn’t seamless with their service, especially given how hard it is to book a spot these days.

Don't pay any attention to the one star reviews. However I would recommend that you do some research before you pay the deposit. 14 days from your reservation it is non-refundable or transferable. Also, look at the breakdown of what you're paying for. The dinner is only a portion of the cost and the little island does require upkeep. So 10 euro each for that purpose seems reasonable. You should expect a group of around 50 people and two servers on the boat. You will be assigned a table when you check in at the dock. They clearly have a process so some bit of patience is required along the way. When you arrive on the island I highly recommend using the restroom (it is inside the old fort). From the summer dining room it is down the hill and around the corner so over the course of the 3 hour visit you're going to want to limit the number of trips you take. Depending on the time of year you should expect lower temperatures and higher wind than the main land. There is plenty of room inside the boat and they provide blankets in the dining room. Dinner is a fine dining experience. 5 or 6 courses on a fixed menu for your specific day. Small portions are the norm for this style of dining. Mostly vegetarian but for our visit the main was venison. Another couple we spoke to didn't really get a vegetarian substitute for it so if that's your menu style you should probably check into it. I recommend the wine pairing. 35 euro for the 1/2 was plenty for us and the variety was excellent. While there is additional staff in the dining room, once again there is a 50 person seating all at the same time. They have a system, you just need a little patience. Overall we found each course thoughtfully prepared with excellent wine pairings. Beyond the food and drinks it is a unique experience that we greatly enjoyed (and we aren't really boat people).

Excellent experience! I got a bit worried reading some of the less positive reviews, which I suspect - in some cases at least - was due to language difficulties . We had a wonderful experience, and a beautiful evening. If you’re a non-Dutch speaker, you should expect some differences- you won’t get the same level of information about the island, and perhaps the food too. I think some visitors expect everyone to accommodate their language limitations, which this place is perhaps less tolerant of than most in Amsterdam.

This is my second time eating at Vuurtoreneiland, and I always find it a fantastic experience! Last time I was in the winter, this time in the summer. Both times were great! I always find the staff super friendly. The food was delicious and pure, but unfortunately, we were both still hungry afterwards. The dishes are small... The food is served at a fast pace, sometimes it felt a bit rushed. A new dish was on the table every 25 minutes. If you have a wine pairing, it's served at the same pace, so I recommend getting a half-price wine pairing. You have to empty your glass before you can start a new wine, as you only get one for the entire evening. ;) I sometimes switched from wine to juice during the evening, and those were delicious!

A very relaxing afternoon out, but the food was disappointing. We were there on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, so the boat trip and the experience on the island were fantastic. The staff was extremely friendly. The food left much to be desired in several respects. There's a 5-course chef's menu. The portions were so small that we asked for extra bread, even though we weren't starving at the start of the meal. The quality of the ingredients is good, and the dishes are simple. There's nothing wrong with that, but the dishes have to be excellent, which wasn't the case. The flavors weren't always balanced. For example, the raw sea bass came with a paprika sauce that was far too sour, making it impossible to taste the fish. The strained curd with the beef tenderloin was also an odd combination. Dessert was a scoop of homemade ice cream with a berry sauce; there really should be more creativity. On the boat, we were given a platter with some cheese, beef sausage, gherkins, and mustard that looked like it had been randomly thrown onto the platter. On the way back, we were served a mini cupcake, but the staff accidentally skipped us. The sourdough bread was one of the better dishes, which speaks volumes. The price of the 5-course menu is 85 euros, which is disproportionate to the quality. We didn't choose the wine pairing because one glass per course is a lot. Due to the island's water shortage, you use the same glass, so you have to empty it with every course. Instead, we ordered wine and non-alcoholic drinks from the menu, and they didn't disappoint. The staff has to serve a large group at once, and you can tell, but we never felt rushed. All in all, we had a wonderful afternoon that could have been even better if more care had been put into the food.

Beautiful and unique location. The food was disappointing; 3/5 dishes weren't convincing, especially compared to what we had enjoyed a few years ago. The service is friendly, but feels very perfunctory. It feels like they've repeated the island routine so often that it's taken the fun out of it. If you have a question about wine, the answer is "I'm not a sommelier." We had a good time, but it's currently way too expensive for what you get.

A truly fantastic experience! From the relaxing and beautiful boat trip where we learned about the surrounding nature, it was fantastic. The food was delicious (including vegetarian options), the service was informal but good, the cottage was superb (with a view over the water), and the breakfast in the morning was fantastic, enjoying the sunshine overlooking the water. This was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I have ever had in my life. Staff were inattentive, rude and generally annoyed by requests for drinks even though I watched them happily serving other tables while we sat without any refreshments (including water) on the boat ride to the island for at least 20 minutes. Once there, we were rushed off the boat but told we could explore the island for 15 minutes - don’t dare go over! Don’t expect anyone to indicate where the toilets are without having to ask - you would expect them to be in the restaurant but *surprise* they are not. Instead, the toilets are in a separate building to the main restaurant down quite a steep hill, so again - given the lack of interest by staff in actually helping anyone - I had to ask for this information myself, much to their annoyance obviously - apparently the staff did not get the memo on what it means to work in horeca, perhaps some trainings could help them grasp the basic concepts of hospitality, or maybe they just don’t care - at the end of the day, they get our money either way. I did the set menu with wine pairing, the servers didn’t take any time to explain the dishes properly or how the wine paired with the food and were generally not very engaged or enthusiastic. The food itself was TERRIBLE (I am even inclined to say inedible since I didn’t finish most dishes and had to eat again when I got home since I was starving). If you are a foodie, DO NOT go here - McDonalds would have been better, at least they know what salt is and how to use it. The vegetables in one of my dishes were burned and bitter - they tried to hide this with a flavourless type of saucy foam but if you can’t even do the basics right, I’d probably just stick to grilling vegetables without burning them before attempting some sort of saucy foam garnish. None of the dishes had any flavour, I had to ask for salt and pepper (which they of course LOVED) and then douse my food in it since apparently they don’t seem to make use of any seasonings in the kitchen. Dessert was an absolute joke - frozen blueberries with one tiny scoop of ice cream that tasted like air. I could make that at home and it would probably taste better (Ben&Jerrys where you at!?). We spoke to another couple after dinner and they agreed that the food was not good but then commented how people don’t go for the food, but rather the “experience” - I’m not really sure what “experience” they were referring to. You can literally book a boat ride to other islands without needing a €250 deposit and an assault on your taste buds should you just want the “experience” of riding on a boat and exploring a random island. The entire evening was completely rushed from start to finish - including getting to the boat, getting off the boat, and then having to leave the restaurant before even swallowing your last bite of dessert. Zero time to just sit and relax at the location after eating. If you want to use the bathroom after dessert you better hop to it during the main course before they herd you out of the restaurant like a flock of sheep. I made the grave mistake of thinking I could use the restroom before heading back to the boat and was then treated to a staff member knocking on my stall to hurry me along since the boat was leaving (all while I was still very much busy using the toilet, which of course made me very uncomfortable). Extremely unprofessional and rude to rush a patron while they are in the toilet - I didn’t think bathroom use was a luxury but apparently it is at Zomerrestaurant Vuurtpreneiland. We were offered coffee/tea on the boat back, however, my cappuccino was unsurprisingly cold. All in all, this “experience” cost me €450 and I wish I had rather used that money for a weekend away since this particular occasion was to celebrate my second anniversary and unfortunately it was totally ruined. Not one for the books which is sad since these are moment we can’t get back. If the company has any decency, they will offer a refund because it was a shocking night.

Ok, así que esto es único y definitivamente una experiencia cuando en amerstdam! Esta es básicamente una pequeña isla rural en el agua cerca de Amersterdam. La isla fue utilizada en la guerra como un aspecto - hacia fuera para la invasión y todavía tiene un número de búnkeres de la guerra mundial. La isla es pequeña, pero mucho de lo que se utiliza en la cocina se produce literalmente de la tierra de la isla. La isla tiene dos restaurantes... el restaurante de verano y el restaurante de invierno. El restaurante de verano es un conservatorio en el centro de la isla y el restaurante de invierno está increíblemente en los búnkeres de la guerra mundial. Tuvimos el placer de experimentar los búnkeres. Para llegar a la isla te encuentras con un barco donde te registran. A bordo del barco se le ofrecen bebidas y tienen una pequeña tabla de mordiscos caseros como mostazas, queso, encurtidos y carnes. El barco tarda unos 45 minutos en llegar a la isla con la puesta de sol mientras desapareces del puerto a través de las aguas. Como este restaurante / experiencia es principalmente para los lugareños y los holandeses el tour y todo. Este restaurante hace una promoción mínima, ya que es tan popular de boca en boca y reserva con 3 meses de antelación. Hay aminales en itinerancia y un par de pequeñas cabañas que han sido renovadas para que la gente pueda quedarse. Fuimos arrastrados a los búnkeres... cargados de historias e historia de la guerra, pero renovados de una manera genial. Caliente la iluminación suave de nuevo las paredes de ladrillo originales. La cocina también está en un buker convertido y totalmente abierto para que pueda ver a los chefs en el trabajo. La habitación es impresionante y realmente da un zumbido de emoción. Se le dan menús, sin embargo, es la elección del chef menú degustación. Muchos de los platos fueron hechos de productos de la isla y una gran cantidad de ahumado se hace en otros búnkeres o almacenes de guerra. Tenemos zanahorias carbonizadas con hierba verde, fletán con encurtidos y espuma de mantequilla crema y un impresionante plato de carne de res por nombrar algunos. Questa "gita" si può fare sia in versione invernale che estiva. Noi abbiamo fatto una delle ultime tappe invernali, con cena all'interno del grande bunker. Il cibo era ottimo, l'abbinamento dei vini era discreto. Ciò che rende incantevole l'esperienza è intanto l'incontro con altre persone sulla barca che in un'ora ti porta alla piccola isola, in seguito l'atmosfera è magica perché si può godere il silenzio , l'assenza di connessioni con il mondo esterno (finalmente!) e la vista della città all'orizzonte. Il prezzo, non banale, probabilmente non la inserisce tra le "cose da vedere" ma a mio parere è assolutamente da fare

After almost two years we got lucky to make a reservation to this place. Huge expectations after we heard so many good things. The experience itself with the boat trip, the island, the restaurant and the food concept is cool but it might be in my opinion way much better. Personally we didnt like the food itself, most of the courses were tasteless, redfish super small bite with dashi was probably the okaysh dish but the rest and the dessert as well with rhubarb didnt work for us at all. I would rather pay 30/40/50 euro more to get proper bites on the boat, which were 2 piece of cheese and some pickles and get better food at the restaurant because i can imagine for this price they should contain costs so i understand they cant make big or "fancy" food. Bread and butter i have to say is really good. Wine cellar is very well done and the selection of wine as well but they dont have proper knowledge to explain you some differences bewteen wine which is a pity and is something you would expect in such a place. The lady who served us was very kind and funny but with the rest of the staff we didnt feel welcomed. The island is nice but nothing special as well, for what you pay and what you get above all a disappointing experience.

Every trip that requires you to get to the location by boat is of course almost a success. Very nice atmosphere, you can enjoy walking around before dinner. The quality of the food is not bad, but remains slightly behind the rest of the concept.

Leuke ervaring; boottocht leuk als je buiten kunt zitten, binnen teveel als opgesloten vee. Mooi winterrestaurant, personeel werkt indrukwekkend hard. Erg veel lawaai, komt door akoestiek bunker. Gerechtjes goed, ontbreekt aan aankleding bordjes (geen aardappeltje, puree of groente). Daardoor net niet top! De prijs/kwaliteit daardoor uit balans. Zeker ook met glaasje wijn van 9 euro. Tenslotte past het niet om bijna hele bedrag vooruit te laten betalen.

A special weekend on Vuurtoreneiland! Yesterday we spent an overnight stay on this small island, completely surrounded by nature and history. We went there and back by boat, which made the adventure even more special. We ate in the old bunker, which was heated by wood stoves and lit by candles. We also climbed the lighthouse, with a great view over the water and nature. A unique place to completely relax and enjoy the silence and the view. Definitely recommended!

Went here to celebrate a birthday (mostly vegans, all non-dutch speakers). Most of the food was very good, but I would not recommend. For the cost - the ambiance and environment wasn't pleasant, and it felt generally like a second-class experience compared to other diners. On the boat over they spent around 10 minutes talking about the island in Dutch. They came by to do it in English, but it was only a couple of minutes and everyone had started talking again so you couldn't hear much. Once on the island, they had us all stand around while they spoke in Dutch for 10-15minutes and didn't repeat any in English (despite there being multiple English speaking groups). So it was very dark, very, very cold, and we had to stand around waiting for no reason. It was really a "I'm paying for this?" moment lol. Before booking we called and asked if they accommodated vegans. In fairness, they did warn us they might not be able to substitute everything in equal measure. The food was good, but it wasn't anywhere near as nice / technically impressive / filling as the standard menu. Since the website discusses a focus on plants we were expecting more. Ambiance wise: I couldn't hear the people I was sitting with (really big table for 4) but it felt too quiet in the cellar to talk any louder. Otherwise, the bunker was a cool setting. These might seem like small complaints (because they are), but we researched a long time for restaurants for a special event before picking Vuurtoreneiland. If we had known how it would go we would've picked elsewhere (like De Kas or Men Impossible). For the cost, you should feel good about the experience when you leave. We felt cold and hungry. Probably it's better in the summer / for non-vegans / if you speak Dutch.

Boat trip was very fun and surprising. Small platter with cheese, pickle and a fuet-like sausage. Fine, but nothing special. The reception on the island was warm and after a short tour, the weather was bitterly cold, we walked to the fort. 5 course menu with accompanying wine arrangement. The food was not bad but certainly not surprising! The formatting was also very disappointing. Few techniques for the dishes. A stew, an Jerusalem artichoke in three different ways, a piece of mackerel with overpowering capers, a tasty piece of fallow deer and a scoop of vanilla ice cream with crunch, crème anglaise, whipped cream and cranberry. All in all, we were disappointed, we expected more. The experience of going to the restaurant by boat remains beautiful, but the cooking level needs to be taken a step higher!

My friend introduced me to this great concept. We were very pleased with the concept and have been looking forward to it for a long time. However, this was very disappointing to us. In total we paid €350 for 2 people and a number of things were really wrong. First of all, we understand that this experience costs more than eating out in a 'normal' restaurant. However, I would also like to mention that €350 for 2 people is very disappointing for this quality. The boat trip was nothing wrong with it, and the reception on the island was good. The bunkers looked beautiful and the decoration was beautiful! However, the food and menu experience were very disappointing. When we walked in we were given freshly baked sourdough bread. This was tasty but also extremely burnt on one side. A little burnt is not a problem at all, but the black was flaking off and was really inedible! The first course consisted of something with Jerusalem artichoke, which was fine. Our second course was a piece of fish, which was really cold. And not because it was supposed to, but because it was probably served too late. The taste was ok, but not special and quite simple. And yes, cold fish, that is simply not possible. The third course consisted of a do-it-yourself endive stew. Beautifully served, but personally we didn't think this dish was restaurant-worthy in terms of taste. This may be very personal, but I don't think mashed potato with endive leaves is anything special. The fourth dish was ok. The venison was very tough and had little taste and the vegetarian dish was especially very salty. Finally, dessert was a scoop of vanilla ice cream with some crunch, red berries and whipped cream. For €80.00 per person for a menu, we were disappointed in the portions and quality. This may of course be personal, but the fact that my friend ordered a pizza when we got home doesn't seem normal to me. Furthermore, it would have made a big difference if someone from the wait staff had asked "did you fix it?" just once in the evening. Literally not once did anyone ask what we thought of it or anything like that. The plates were taken away without saying or asking anything. We thought this was quite strange. The service wasn't bad, don't get me wrong, but we never once had the feeling that they cared. Furthermore, the wine pairing was ok, but not special. White wines were very tasty, but the first red wine was not at all. Second red wine not special. Finally, I would like to say that the pace was really unpleasant. We came in, got food, it was taken away and we were immediately given a new course. I understand that there is less time on Sundays, but it really felt like an assembly line. All in all a disappointing experience for the €350 we spent.

A really great experience. You will be welcomed on the boat that will take you to the island for 45 minutes. When we arrived on the island, we had a short but fun tour, after which we were allowed to take a seat in the bunker (winter restaurant). The photos cannot show how beautiful and atmospheric this location is. We had a table near the kitchen (chef's table) which made the experience even more unique. The service was certainly not too bad either, we had a super nice host who made the experience complete.

Beautiful place, but too expensive for what you get. The five course dinner was mediocre. The focus is too much on trendy/hip food, but the portions are too small, there is little coherence between the dishes, and a link with the environment and the special history is completely missing. That's a shame, because if you charge about EUR 150 per person for a dinner, and you spread it over three hours, then you create expectations. Five tiny dishes - Jerusalem artichoke, piece of fish, half a potato in a salt crust, piece of meat and one scoop of ice cream, that is simply substandard. What makes it all the more annoying is that it is all presented quite haughtily. Unfortunately, that has become an Amsterdam disease: lots of talk, but little wool. A little modesty doesn't hurt. By the way, it wasn't bad, the decoration is beautiful, but if you pay 750 EUR for one night away and a bite to eat, then it simply has to be above & beyond.

We slept and ate on Lighthouse Island for the first time on Saturday. My honest opinion: way too overpriced for what you get. The quality of the food was fine, nothing special. Sleeping was terrible, very small hut, which is not cleaned (even the food is not taken from the room), and you cannot do anything on the island so you are really a bit stuck there. The boat leaves much too late the next day, so you have no idea what to do after breakfast, because the island is too small to walk. I thought it was way too expensive and not worth the money at all. A waste of my 800 euros.

Had a great night out and in great surroundings. The food is quite disappointing when you compare it with the other facets of this concept. Raw string beans (all raw beans are poisonous, okay... a few beans can't hurt, but still), a blackened leek still in its tough outer skin, a brill fillet that is really undercooked (up to twice), salad side dish with some cheese grater (lack of inspiration it seems) and a dessert that you can expect in a cafe, but certainly not in this ambiance. An idyllic place and the food, contrary to some reviews, was better than expected. Beautiful matching wines. Organization, on the other hand, was quite poor, a week in advance the boarding location suddenly changed and then the boat arrived 45 minutes late. For this money I would have thought it would have been nice if we had come across this, for example a glass of drink on the house or a little longer time on the island. But then we were back at the boarding point half an hour earlier. Food felt a bit rushed, courses were served quite quickly one after the other. As far as we (the island) are concerned, it was a really nice experience for once, but I wouldn't go again anytime soon.

Ir a Vuurtoreneiland fue una experiencia increíble y única. Usted paga por adelantado el menú de ajuste del precio fijo. A las 6: 30 PM, un pequeño barco te lleva a la isla desde Amsterdam (nos uber'ed al muelle y de vuelta desde el centro de Amsterdam). Cada partido tiene un número de mesa. En el barco, te sirven un poco de queso y salchichas. Hay un bar en el barco y si pide algo, el costo se agrega a su pestaña de mesa. (No nos dimos cuenta hasta después de que las bebidas no estaban incluidas). El barco tarda unos 30 minutos. Una vez en la isla, puedes pasear un poco y puedes ir a la bodega si te interesa comprar una botella de vino. De lo contrario, puede hacer un maridaje de vinos por un precio muy justo. (Se paga extra por el maridaje de vinos o la botella en el barco en el camino de regreso.) Elegimos el maridaje de vinos (ambos tuvimos medias porciones) y las selecciones fueron excelentes. Hay 5 platos. Todo se cultiva localmente y se cocina a la perfección sobre o con fuego. El menú va a variar, pero teníamos tomates asados, pescado, sal - puré de papas al horno con flores comestibles, carne de res y yogur / bayas de postre. El ritmo es justo. Entre platos, puede levantarse y ver la hermosa puesta de sol o disfrutar de un paseo por la propiedad. Con el postre, se puede tomar café o té (no nos dimos cuenta de que añaden 2 euros - - como con la copa de vino en el barco, prefiero que solo cobran un poco más por adelantado). El barco le devuelve al muelle de Amsterdam alrededor de las 11 : 15 PM. El servicio es excelente y la comida es deliciosa. No demasiado complicado, pero perfectamente ejecutado y delicioso. La única crítica constructiva que tengo es que el lugar de reunión (que básicamente es un muelle) podría ser un poco más claro y creo que el restaurante simplemente debería cobrar 5 - 10 euros más por persona e incluir el vino a bordo y el café / té post-cena para que no haya sorpresas al final. Esta es una experiencia completamente única y estamos contentos de haber ido.

Een brilliant plek. De rede van de boeking was de verjaardag van mijn vriendin. Ik heb hiervoor veel positieve verhalen aangehoord, maar toen wij op het eiland aankwamen waren wij verbaasd door de prachtige, rustige omgeving. Tijdens het diner hebben wij mogen genieten van vijf riante gangen met een mix van vlees en groenten. Het wijn arrangement was ook een mooie toevoeging. Glazen werden meerdere keren met vijf verschillende wijnen die zoals verwacht goed paren met de gerechten. Daarnaast is er nog een prachtige "wijnbunker", waar je een heerlijke wijn naar keuze kunt selecteren voor tijdens of na het diner. Met deze heerlijke wijnfles aan onze zijde zijn wij na het diner op pad gegaan. Bij de steiger hadden wij een prachtig moment. Als je naar boven kijkt zie je sterren, op ooghoogte zie je een toom van eenden in het water landen. Een mooie omgeving voor een romantisch moment. Wij hebben heerlijk geslapen. Het ontbijt was relatief simpel maar de goede ingrediënten maken dat goed. Brood, yoghurt en een eitje samen met een goede espresso start de dag goed. De boottocht terug was rustig, en wij kwamen heerlijk uitgerust thuis. Al met al een unieke ervaring die het zeker waard is

Food and service are seriously below par for the money you spend. Some of the staff do their best, the rest give the impression of passing on everything quickly so that they can return home quickly. It is a beautiful place, but the whole thing falls apart due to the lack of quality of service and food. When you get off the boat you certainly haven't had enough. Upon arrival, a dried sausage with dried pickle is ready. Clearly prepared well in advance. The cheese tasted fine. On the way back you get something sweet. Literally a cookie from the tin and a block of chocolate. That was it. A beer from the bottle for 5 euros. Served in a lemonade glass. In the restaurant they openly shake the bottles of wine. All the bits of red together and you have a full bottle of wine again. Ice cold red wine... No, not again.

Awful experience. Service has been nothing but rude. We were asked to either down our wines or throw our wine away after paying for a wine tasting menu. The wine description of one of the wines from the waiter was “its raspberry, strawberry and whatever other stuff grows with it”… Our plates were cleared even though we were not finished eating. We were rushed through the whole evening after having to spend extra half hour on the boat because the kitchen had “some issues”. Food was good but in no way did it match the price point the restaurant likes to position themselves. When asked to get our steak back on the grill for a few minutes the waiter laughed in our face. We took our family that came to visit from out of town for an experience and left with nothing but disappointment. It would be nice if the staff was able to deliver a level of service that’s expected at restaurants that want to perform at this level. Unfortunately that doesn't seem possible with their current staff. There are many other restaurants in Amsterdam at this price point that can actually deliver a great experience.

Overall it was a nice experience and was a bucket list item for us. The boat ride there was a bit over full and too hot. You share tables with other people in quite the small space. The platter on the boat was OK but nothing exceptional. We arrive at the island, but unfortunately, in winter, it is completely dark, and you cannot see much of the island . We walk in darkness to the restaurant itself is very beautiful and lit up with candles everywhere. Overall, the service was good and the wine was good. The food was disappointing especially at this price point. The food was quite bland and not on a fine dining level, especially taking into account how much we paid. The dishes were also small and will mot fill most. The food pales in comparison to places like slangevecht, and nomads which are at a much lower price point. It was also Valentine’s Day, and no theme or any form of decoration was added. On the way back sweets were promised, and a tin of biscuits were shared amongst the whole boat. This seemed quite funny and not what you would expect from this kind of experience. The boat ride home seemed tedious and long. To summarize, I would not recommend to go in winter, as half of the magic is gone, because you are completely in the dark. The experience itself would be nice in summer, but at this price point, I don’t think the food lives up to what was expected.

The boat trip started with 6 (unknown) people, close together, at small tables and benches. A drink on the boat is not included in the price (which is complete bullshit when you see what you have lost). A hunk of supermarket cheese (which tasted like a pickle), one large sliced pickle, a bowl of roasted almonds and two pieces of raw meat were placed in front of us; not very tasty.. The island looks cozy and cozy. The price-quality ratio is extremely poor. The experience is nice, but definitely not for that amount and the quality of the food. PLEASE NOTE: if you don't eat fish, crustaceans or shellfish, you are turning yourself into a vegetarian... The only course with meat was venison, which was not properly prepared (almost raw). We had to send this back to have it baked/BBQed again. When my husband commented that venison this way was really not okay to eat at all, he was asked if he was an expert... The food was particularly mediocre for this price. I actually didn't really enjoy any of the courses. The wine pairing was not particularly bad, but definitely not tasty either: lots of natural wines. We weren't too impressed with what was in storage either. To be honest, if I had paid half it would have been okay. But this is really below average. I wouldn't eat here again anytime soon. It's a shame, because I gave my husband this gift for his birthday: now I can arrange something else because this was very brief. It's not worth the waiting list. I feel ripped off.

What a great experience. Truly away from it all for a little while. We booked an overnight stay which I highly recommend (if you can afford it :S ) because it’s just wonderful to walk ‘home’ after dinner in just a few minutes. And to wake up on the island with only a few other guests makes it even more special. The crew was great, fun personalities, all super friendly. The food was amazing. Rustic flavors, but with finesse, totally fit for the gloomy winter weather. A glass of wine with every course really completed the experience. Would love to go again in the summer!

This was a truly exceptional experience, once in a lifetime. We enjoyed the ambience and scenery, the boat trips, the staff was wonderful with impeccable service - our only regret was the food not blowing us away. It was fresh and beautifully prepared - but not that tasty. Still, we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an unforgettable evening.

Eindelijk konden wij dan op avontuur naar Vuurtoreneiland, en een avontuur was het. Het start al bij het opstappen op het bootje waar een lekkere "bopla" voor je klaar staat. Wij waren met z'n 4-tjes en hadden gelukkig op de boot hele gezellige mede avonturiers waarmee wij een leuke klik hadden. Ook de gastheer/vrouw aan boord maakte de bootreis al heel gezellig. Bij aankomst op het eiland met een lantaarn een kleine wandeling met wat uitleg hier en daar; superleuk, het voelde als een kleine dropping. Bij de ingang van het fort knappert een heerlijk houtvuur en waanden wij ons echt terug in de tijd; wij waren bang dat het binnen te koud zou zijn maar wat hadden wij een geluk met onze tafel, naast een heerlijke ouderwetse kachel een ook hier was Judith weer onze gezellige, goedlachse gastvrouw. Alle gerechten waren stuk voor stuk bijzonder, verfijnde smaken, niet te groot (want ja je krijgt er nl. 6) en ook de borden zijn mooi opgemaakt. Voor ons 4 krijgt de biet met eend echt een 10+! Wat ook heel leuk is is dat zij een "sappen arrangement" aanbieden voor de non-alcohol gasten; ook hiervan hebben wij echt genoten, alles paste heel goed bij de gerechtjes. En dan vangt om 22.30 weer de terugreis per boot aan met jawel, dezelfde gezellige tafelgenoten, een lekkere kop koffie of thee en een "zoetje". Vuurtoreneiland overtrof onze verwachtingen en wij gaan dan ook zeker een keer terug maar dan met overnachting om de beleving helemaal af te maken.

Loved the whole experience and can't wait to do it again for the Summer one 🩷 We saw some reviews prior to the trip that said staff were rude to non-Dutch speaking people but I don't really know what they were talking about, the staff were so polite and helpful. They explained what each and every dish was as they put it down for us. I would recommend this for anyone whos visiting Amsterdam, it's something really different and fun to do ☺️

Beautiful restaurant, innovative concept. The food was local, seasonal though not mind blowing. Unfortunately, you’re crammed into a very crowded boat which takes away from the experience. Additionally, there’s room for improving the concept (wine tasting pours were stingy plus had upselling attempts, don’t include the boat sweet but forget to mention charge for coffee, etc.). I’d suggest they play background music in the bunker rooms, at least where there isn’t kitchen action. Lack of lighting during walk back to boat in the dark, it was intimate but not for older people we brought prone to falling. Tip: the winter restaurant has three rooms. The place you want to ask for a table is near the kitchen, otherwise it’s very quiet and less interesting.

Geweldige ervaring. Met de boot varen naar het eiland om daar te genieten van een heerlijk diner. (sommige gerechten vrij zout) mooie sfeer op een unieke locatie.

Na de wintereditie 4 jaar terug in het fort, ditmaal de zomereditie in de kas gecombineerd met een overnachting op het eiland. Wat hebben we genoten. Je waant je helemaal op vakantie, de vrijheid, de gastvrijheid en de natuur, echt een belevenis. Overdag heb je tijd om op het eiland te vertoeven en bij mooi weer kun je zwemmen, word je in de watten gelegd met o.a. een picknic met drankjes, je komt hier niets te kort. Het eten 's avonds was echt heerlijk en erg verfijnd. 's Avonds 'alleen' op het eiland in het donker geeft een speciale dimensie, 's ochtends gewekt worden door de schapen en het kabbelende water op naar een verrukkelijk ontbijt. Dit moet je echt eens meegemaakt hebben, wij hebben dan ook zeer genoten!

Een heel leuke ervaring op het Vuurtoreneiland. Reserveren is bijna onmogelijk en kostte ons zeker 10 pogingen. De boottocht erheen, het rondje over het eiland was heel leuk. Helaas kregen wij in het restaurant een tafeltje in het midden en dan zit je bijna op schoot bij de buren terwijl de tafeltjes aan het raam alle ruimte hebben. Het eten is lekker, verrassend. Tja is het de prijs waard, 340 euro voor 2 personen inclusief drankjes? Je eet elders beter voor dit bedrag maar de hele ervaring maakt dat het toch heel bijzonder is een je het gewoon een keer moet doen.

Een ware belevenis! Zeker als je zo'n geluk hebt met het weer als vandaag! Eerst een prachtige boottocht over het IJ en door de Oranjesluizen naar het eiland, daar een rondwandeling met ondergaande zon en dan een heerlijk diner met uitzicht en bijpassend lekkere wijnen. Het kost wat tijd en pogingen om te reserveren met het was het allemaal waard! Dank!

Na lang wachten mochten we eindelijk naar Vuurtoreneiland, want die stond toch al een tijdje op ons lijstje! De andere beleving van uit eten begint direct bij het opstappen op de boot. De borrel plank die klaar staat en het uitzicht over het water zorgen voor een goed begin. Eenmaal aangekomen op het eiland wordt er een kleine tour over het eiland gegeven waarna je bij een leuk intiem restaurant aan komt met prachtig uitzicht over het water. In het restaurant ruik je de houtskool uit de keuken en worden er leuke gerechten met goede bijpassende wijnen geserveerd. Voor ons wat de Harder het absolute hoogtepunt van de avond. Wat het echt afmaakt is wanneer het donker wordt en de vuurtoren aan gaat! Wij komen zeker terug om de sfeer en de gerechten tijdens de winterperiode te proeven!

Really beautiful location and service was nice however I thought the dishes lacked creativity and a couple were surprisingly bland. The fish dish was the best for flavor. The wines were all well paired. Had a good time overall but left disappointed by the dishes.

Wat een geweldig mooie en lekkere ervaring. Met de boot vanaf Lloyd Hotel Amsterdam naar het Vuurtoreneiland voor Durgerdam. Werden in de watten gelegd, super vriendelijk personeel.

Nu ook met overnachting mogelijk! Dat hebben we gedaan. We waren al eerder geweest voor alleen het diner. De nieuwe chef heeft ons aangenaam verrast! Het overnachten maar het wel hè-le-maal af en tot een super bijzondere belevenis, zo dichtbij maar toch zo ver weg. De cabins zijn prachtig en wij zaten direct aan het water. Tip: neem je zwem spullen mee, er is tijd genoeg om even een duik te nemen. Voor ons was het absoluut genieten & we komen zeker weer een keer terug!
