This was our best meal in Amsterdam by far. Lovely service, excellent food - every dish was just great. The space is well designed with tables not too close. Cocktails were also very well made. Will return when we come back to Amsterdam.

JANSZ would be an excellent choice for dinner in Amsterdam. Located just south of Anne Franke house in the Jordan district. One of the best in Amsterdam and reasonably priced!

We had a lovely team lunch at Jansz. We all ordered the lunch menu with an appetizer and a main dish. Everything from the attentive staff to the quality of food was of high quality. It took a little long for the main dish to come out, but it was a little busy at the time. The ambience is very Amsterdam and I wouldn't change anything about the place.

Delicious and attentive food and service

We dined here as a couple and ended up paying well over €250. For that amount, you expect a complete experience that is right. Unfortunately, that was absolutely not the case here. Let me start with the positives: the food was well prepared and tasted good. But that is where it ends. The dishes lacked creativity and felt very average. Nothing was truly surprising or special. If the prices had been half that, I would have found the price-quality ratio acceptable. But at this level, you expect much more. The same applied to the wine suggestions. A glass of wine costing nearly twenty euros was recommended with my dish. I have no problem with that amount in itself, but the combination needs to add something. In this case, the exact opposite happened. The wine was completely lost with the dish and tasted almost like I was drinking water. It felt as if little to no attention had been paid to the pairing. The service was attentive. You never had to wait long and there was always someone available. At the same time, the refinement, friendliness, and personal attention that you might expect at a restaurant in this price range were lacking. The service was decent but not exceptional. What makes it even more disappointing is that the foundation is actually there. The location is beautiful, the ambiance is atmospheric, and the kitchen demonstrates that they are technically proficient cooks. That is precisely why it feels like there is much more potential. The dishes could become more creative and exciting, and the wine pairings deserve much more attention. At these prices, you expect an experience where everything is just right. Perhaps that innovation lies in a young chef with fresh ideas, or perhaps that inspiration needs to come from outside. Either way, there is clearly room to take the kitchen to a higher level. Until then, a lower price would be fairer for what you ultimately get. For this budget, there are dozens of restaurants in Amsterdam where you eat considerably better and get a much more complete experience. Jans charges prices befitting a top restaurant but delivers an experience that simply does not match that. If the restaurant had not been part of the popular Pulitzer Hotel, it should have closed long ago. Or perhaps it should have improved, which I hope they will do, because the potential is there.

The location is nice and the vibe is good, but the food was not great and quite expensive, so for us it's not a place we'd return to very soon.

Disappointing customer service. I was charged a no show fee having been called by the restaurant to say that on the hottest day of the year they had no space outside and no air conditioning. I then couldn’t get through to anyone to cancel as we had a 2 year old with the reservation. No response to my email asking to discuss with someone. Overall, very disappointing.

Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. The main course was served while we were still eating our bread and prosecco, making the evening feel very rushed. Additionally, we were not asked if we wanted anything to drink with the main course. When I asked for the wine list myself, it took a long time before I received it. Only at that moment was my ID requested, by which time the prosecco had already been served. An age check is of course fine if necessary, but it felt strange that this only happened later and seemed to receive so much attention (the wait staff was visibly calculating my age, which also came across as unprofessional). Ultimately, I believe it is about every guest feeling welcome. It is a shame, because the food was truly delicious, but due to the service, I would unfortunately not be coming back anytime soon.

Loved the food and the gluten free options (finally a tasty bread)! The ambient is amazing and huge, but mostly the kids animation on every last sunday of the month, finally I could really enjoy the lunch. Keep doing so, we will bring many friends from now on!

We confirmed if there is a table and made a booking twice, in two different days, and both times when we came, the host told us that we spoke with the wrong person and she can’t give us a table (but we called to number from website). This service is a total dishonour for clients time

We shared starters and the food was best meal we had in Amsterdam. Lobster Bisque was best I have ever had! I have never seen smaller shrimp that had to be peeled! Remarkable!

Please speak Dutch in Amsterdam, be proud of your language, and it is okay if people want to be served in English, but it is incomprehensible that they do not understand us in Flemish.

The salmon and sea bass dishes were extraordinary, better than even Le Bernardin. Wines by the glass were excellent. Bread was perfect. Tomatoes and ceviche were excellent but not perfect. Dessert was a slight disappointment.

We had a beautiful dinner at Jansz Amsterdam — such a lovely and elegant experience. The setting is stunning, with a calm and refined atmosphere that makes you instantly feel relaxed. The food was excellent — everything we tried was thoughtfully prepared, with great attention to detail, both in flavour and presentation. Overall, it felt like one of those places where everything just comes together perfectly. Highly recommend for a special, relaxed dinner in Amsterdam.

We did not realize this restaurant was affiliated with our hotel until we checked in and saw the signs directing you to this place. It turned out to be convenient for our first night as we were fairly tired. The appetizer of the celery root was something so delicious and difficult to describe soaked in Ponzo. It was a perfect open to the meal. The Dover soul was a disappointment, though. It was tough and thick and on the dry side. I wondered if it had been frozen. The mango cheesecake was very sweet a little too sweet. If you’re looking for a delicious restaurant in the same neighborhood, I would recommend Verlan, Just around the corner with incredible food, drink, drinks, and wait staff, .

I'm not giving the food 5 stars because my main course (salmon) arrived lukewarm. Also, I think 9 euros is too expensive for a small piece of bread with butter. Everything else was excellent. We had the 3-course menu (the tartar and fish starters were very good, the chicken main course was very good, and the desserts were very good) and a delicious non-alcoholic aperitif with mango beforehand. The service was very friendly and attentive, and the room was very pleasant.

If you want cheese fondue, this won't work. It's just a kind of mini Camembert from the oven and is advertised as "cheese fondue" for €50. The service is cute, but what is this really? You can't call it cheese fondue.

When booking I was asked what the occasion od the dinner was for, and no one mentioned nothing about it, so I don't know what is the purpose of asking for this information. Also, I ordered the salmon and was the smallest salmon piece I've ever had in a restaurant. Expected so much more form the service also. Really disappointed.

What incredibly grumpy staff! I came here for my birthday, but the only thing this restaurant leaves you with is disappointment. Not recommended!

Looking back: exceptional. The staff was incredibly friendly, but everything moved quickly. For example, the sandwich to share (which you pay for separately) arrived immediately with the starter. The starter (unfortunately, no photo) was delicious! A steak tartare, deliciously prepared and beautifully presented. We were somewhat surprised when the tenderloin we ordered arrived. For that price, we hadn't expected a bare plate, with just meat and a cone of (too salty) fries. It was unrefined and unimaginative, and in our opinion, it would have been nice if the staff had pointed out to us when taking our order that it was served without any vegetable garnish. The meat itself was delicious. Ninety minutes later and €256 less, we were already outside. Looking back, I know for sure: the price isn't worth the experience. Finally, I find it disturbing to be treated like a tourist in your own country. There's nothing wrong with my English, but I do find the anglicization of English in my own country bothering me. Dutch-speaking staff, in particular, should simply communicate in Dutch with their Dutch-speaking guests.

Last Saturday, January 10th, we booked the "cheese fondue" at Jansz. Winter Garden, but unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. The staff seemed unfamiliar with the concept, and the execution was chaotic. We waited over an hour, after which we were served something that looked more like half-warm, reheated brie than cheese fondue. There was no warming pot or rechaud underneath, so it cooled down immediately. The vegetables were old and wilted, and the bread was forgotten twice. We had also called beforehand to inquire about the fondue for three people, and were confirmed to be possible. However, upon arrival, we were told it was for two, meaning we had to order either for two or four people. When we expressed our dissatisfaction, the dish was briefly reheated and returned, but the quality remained subpar. The bread that finally arrived was also not fresh. Despite repeatedly expressing our dissatisfaction, we still had to pay approximately €140. To make matters worse, the bread, an add-on for €9, was also listed twice on the receipt. I'm fine with a 5-star hotel charging higher prices, but you also expect the service and quality to match. This experience was downright terrible and almost felt like a candid camera. Not being taken seriously is not what you expect at the Pulitzer. It's a shame that they promise to contact you, but then you never hear from the hotel again.

Unfortunately the food was on a mediocre level. We had hoped it would be better.

Such a horrible experience. We flew from Texas to experience Valentines Day in Amsterdam. We booked this place months in advance. They forgot one of our appetizers. They also forgot a drink. I’m really confused why we had to book months in advance for some super special Valentine’s Day dinner, because the restaurant was extremely empty. The food was definitely underwhelming. We regret spending our special Valentine’s Day dinner here. I truly have never been so disappointed in a Valentine’s Day dinner at a restaurant in my entire life. The bread was overcooked, and it came after the meal. Just to top it all off.

Lunch menu was nothing special, as portions were small and lacked flavor.. Ordered the bavette which was over cooked, fries were the best part of the meal.

Great dinner at jansz. Had the 55 euro chefs menu (appetizer, main, dessert) plus a glass of wine and of sauternes. Total for 2 183 eur. All dishes were excellent.

4.7/5 This was my first time at this restaurant, and I ordered their Christmas set menu. It only had three courses, but each one was of a high standard. My favorite was the crayfish cocktail appetizer—refreshing yet flavorful. The main course was duck breast with carrot compote. For some reason, the duck breast had a liver-like texture, and the carrot compote had a biscuit-like texture. The dessert was also very creative, but I didn't like the thin crispy topping; it lacked flavor and somewhat overpowered the other ingredients. Although it wasn't cheap, it wasn't disappointing.

A wonderful experience for our New Year's Eve dinner. The staff were incredibly attentive, the dishes were delicate, refined, and surprising... a truly excellent time.

Absolutely amazing and atmospheric place. My burger was good with lots of flavour and the desert of chocolate ball was the main highlight. Lovely original flavours. The whole was let down somewhat by the seabass that was undercooked and the waitresses that were too enthusiastic in pushing the table breads drinks and beverages. V kind of them to offer coffee and tea for the undercooked fish but you come to a place like this once and at the prices charged expect a perfect experience.

A disappointing experience from start to finish. No one was at the reception, and when a young woman finally appeared she didn't seem motivated. The table wasn’t great and the service felt flat. The duck liver pâté and the recommended glass of wine were good. My partner’s steak was good quality but only lukewarm, and when we mentioned it, the maître reacted with polite indifference and offered a glass of wine. Nothing was truly bad, but sadly nothing was really good either. It all felt like a carefully packaged product rather than a genuine experience. As a tourist you’re unlikely to return anyway... And this was meant to be a birthday dinner, which I had clearly mentioned when placing my reservation. Not for me. I won’t be coming back. PS: Please check the underside of your tables – I ended up touching old chewing gum when I pulled ours towards me. It was revolting.

The food at Jansz. was truly amazing, and we really enjoyed the warm, stylish atmosphere of the restaurant. Our waitress, Elizabeth, a lovely Ukrainian girl, made the experience even better with her friendly and attentive service. She gave great recommendations and made us feel very welcomed. A fantastic day!!

We were unable to have dinner because the people who served us at the entrance were unprofessional and acted in an unpleasant manner.

The place itself is very beautiful and the food is good. However, the waiting time was about two and a half hours, which was far too long. Another issue was with the service: the waiter kept coming to remove our plates even though we had clearly asked several times to keep them. It felt rushed and inattentive. The most disappointing part, however, was an interaction with one of the waitresses. For clarity, I have nothing against Greek people at all — I mention her nationality only to describe who she was. After I politely said that the wait had been quite long, she responded in a very disrespectful way and told me she hoped not all men were like me. I found this completely unprofessional and unnecessary. Because of this experience, I can only give one star. Very disappointing and not worth the visit.

The quality of the food absolutely does not justify the prices. The staff is not up to standard: unprofessional, not dynamic, and lacking proper communication skills, unable to handle guests’ needs. The wait was excessive: almost an hour to receive the main course, after very underwhelming dishes starter . And if we hadn’t called the waitress ourselves to clear the table with the glasses from the first wine still sitting there we probably would’ve never received the second course. And the most surreal detail? Trying to pass off chiodini as porcini… to an Italian guest. Pure science fiction. A disappointing experience, nowhere near what it claims to be.

We chose the recommended lunch deal menu (1 of the starter dish and 1 of the main course dish) the starter was supposed to have porcini mushrooms but the mushrooms served were not porcini at all, but rather chiodini, and the portion was even smaller than a regular appetizer, which was never mentioned beforehand. Despite having only two courses, we waited 45/50 minutes, and they clearly forgot about our table, I had to go and call them. Once I did, the waitress addressed us in an unfriendly and rude manner. My friend, understandably frustrated after such a long wait, was simply explaining the situation to us even talk to her personally when she openly said she hoped men weren’t all as disrespectful as him. This comment immediately caused a strong argument between the waitress and us. After all of this, we were very disappointed and talk about it with the manager that only say sorry like to make us happy and stupid! no discount was offered and no effort was made to apologize for the bad service and the uncomfortable atmosphere especially considering we spent more than €600 in total. Overall, it was a very unpleasant experience, both for the low quality of the food served and the unprofessional behavior of the staff. Definitely would not recommend for people that love food and good experience with it. This is only about apparance not substance.

Booked this for our anniversary and birthday dinner the service and ambiance was 10/10 and really nice. The food was also decent and we overall were very pleased with the meal. We loved that the staff even took the time to leave a card saying happy birthday it was a nice touch. Our only piece of feedback would be in the way they price their menu. We ordered the burger added the truffle and pate thinking the total was €35 a bit of an upgrade from the €28 normal burger listed, as this was the price listed next to it similar to the rest of the prices of the remaining dishes. Come to find out at the end that it was an additional €35 on top of the cost of the burger which just felt a bit misleading when we came to pay for a €63 burger!! Just be careful if you order and we’d suggest listing the price as €63 for future guests so they don’t leave with a shock.

Took the lunch menu: - Arrived to an unhappy hostess who was too busy talking to a colleague and did not noticed we had been waiting 5min at the entrance along with another couple behind us. Zero smiles or warmth from her, and she sat us at the table and poured sparkling water half in the glass and half on the table, then walked off with no apology. We had to ask the waitress to give a cloth to clean it up. Maybe the hostess was having a bad day, but she shouldn’t be working at a fine dining restaurant, McDonalds suits her better. - The winter salad & fish was perfect, but the steak was so chewy we ate one bite and left the rest. - No one came to the table to ask if the meal was okay, the restaurant was not busy and seemed like we were left abandoned having to grab someone’s attention for the bill.

Came here on a whim after visiting Anne Frank House while on holiday in Amsterdam and was severely disappointed. I have a lot of food allergies and tend to eat at nicer restaurants because they’re better equipped to deal with that. The kitchen did well with my allergies and the service was great — but the food was not. The portions were unbelievably small. My boyfriend was in the bathroom when the food came and he thought I had eaten half my meal while he was gone even though I hadn’t touched it. I would have been okay with the small portion had the food itself been of high caliber, but it wasn’t. My salmon came without the skin, which was disappointing and odd. My favorite part is the crispy skin. The ratatouille lacked spice and flavor — it just tasted like zucchini and tomato paste. My boyfriend had the duck and found it chewy. I will say the salad we had was fresh and tasty, and they made me a special one with just lettuce, avocado, and oil/vinegar since I couldn’t have anything on the menu due to my allergies. But overall this meal was not worth the 111 euros I paid for it.

We had lovely dinner at Jansz. Service was very attentive even though the restaurant was packed. Food was tasty, duck breast the highlight of our dinner. The atmosphere is very inviting and intimate to spend a lovely evening. Chocolate sphere for dessert was nice but better without the grapefruit juice they put around.

Someone tried taking my plate even though I didn’t finish to eat my food. The only bad thing of my time there - quite a big one actually, because for that price, you expect everything to be outstanding.

Service was terrible. Took forever, didn’t know how serve the wine (kept banging the glass). Left items on the bill that we hadn’t even ordered. The starters were excellent, particularly their 'mushroom on toast'. It left us all wanting more! The Creekstone Farms ribeye was ok. The meat was not richly beefy or flavourful, but rather quite flavourless. Also the jus was flat and in the end, the two of us who shared the dish both concluded that it should have been left off (the flavour/rub on the meat itself was really good). The sole was very tasty. The vanilla sundae and toasted banana desserts were great and we gobbled them up. The decor and vibe of the place is classy and elegant, but also casual, meaning it's really comfy for a hearty dinner with friends over some wine (and great wine will be found here!) Finally, the service we got was terrible. We are generally very mindful of busy servers, and we are not very demanding (once the wine was down and the orders were in, the only additionals we got were waters for the table generally when the server came to ask or clear things, and one set of after dinner drinks), yet we were left feeling like everything we asked for was terribly inconvenient, and we felt quite rushed during the meal. The server was not having a great day that day we thought.

Delicious, refined cuisine in a modern setting. We had great service for Daniele and the rest of team. The beet salad was refreshing and the sea bass was amazing. We tried the cheese platter and were pleasantly surprised by the selection and quality of Dutch cheeses. We highly recommend!

we chose this restaurant bc they offered lamb chops. we were staying at the hotel for 2 nights and chose to dine here our last night in Amsterdam, expecting to have a wonderful evening. Didn’t happen. Even tho we were hotel guests we were shoved into a tiny table in the corner, next to a table with a couple so close we could almost feel their breath and in a room with a screaming baby. God help us!!! We ordered an expensive bottle of wine and foie gras. Then we ordered our salad and sipped on our wonderful bottle of wine. The waiter came to the table to take our main course order and for the very first time stated they had no lamb chops.. the very reason we chose this restaurant and the bottle of wine to compliment it. No excuse offered as to why we were not told this up front so we could have left. We ordered steak which we really didn’t want and received a bill for over $300. Just a miserable experience for our last evening in Amsterdam.

We dined at Jansz last night to celebrate the end of a three week Viking River cruise from Avignon to Amsterdam. The ambiance, service and food were just right for the occasion. Between the three of us we ordered: drinks: mango rum spritz; starters: oysters or burrata & tomatoes; entree: salmon or ravioli; dessert: white chocolate sphere. The chef even came to our table to make sure he cooked the salmon to our preferred temperature. And our waiter Bram was great! We highly recommend Jansz if you live in or are visiting Amsterdam!!

As a family of four visiting from Canada, we were greeted rudely by the host and then seated in a poor location, even though the restaurant was nearly empty. It felt like we weren’t truly welcome. The service remained cold and inattentive, and the food was disappointing — small portions, bland taste, and prices that didn’t reflect the quality. Had a wonderful dinner here while on a quick trip. Sat in the Rose garden which was quaint and and a bit more casual. Service was very good and all staff polite and friendly. We ordered some sharables; beef tartare and spiced almonds and olives. The beef tartare was good but at moments, more chewy than I'd prefer. For dinner we ordered the Sea Bass, Lamb Chops and Ravioli, all delicious! The Sea Bass was probably our favorite.
