Lovely owner and staff, they are so friendly!! The food was also very good!

My family is visiting from New York and we've never had Indonesian food. We did a lot of research into which restaurant to go in Amsterdam and decided on this place based on pictures and reviews. We have two young children and chose a rice table meal and this was hands down one of the best meal experiences we've ever had. The service was amazing and several staff members interacted with us and explained everything and were very helpful. The food was delicious and unforgettable. Thank you for this experience! Highly recommended!

So glad we found this restaurant whilst travelling in Amsterdam. The owner and chef made sure to speak with each guest personally - and even made our dishes spicy when we asked for it. Fantastic service and delicious, authentic Indonesian cuisine. Highly recommend!

If I could give 0 stars, I would. The waiter was rude and did not clearly communicate the “rules” that came with ordering. When I kindly asked to change/cancel shortly after taking my order, they would not allow me even though the food did not get prepared yet. It felt like there were hidden fees as if I were subscribing to some membership but at a restaurant.

Everything exceeded our expectations! The service was excellent and very friendly, the chef even comes out to talk to every table personally! We had the shared vegetarian rice table and there was not one thing we would have changed about it. From the amouse bouche to the desert/espresso everything was just great.

We ordered the rice table 1 and it was perfect! All of the food was so delicious and the service was lovely.

You are required to order a full rijsttafel per person, costing at least 37 euros. There were four of us, three of whom wanted a rijsttafel and I only wanted a vegetarian à la carte dish. However, that was not possible. So I tried to order two vegetarian à la carte dishes instead. This was not possible either. I have never experienced such an inflexible and unwelcoming Indonesian restaurant. The food was okay, but very pricey.

The food was absolutely delicious and came out in good time but the real stand out was the service. Our waitress was brilliant and the rest of the staff were extremely lovely and helpful. A special place that I would be sure to go back to!

We came on the recommendation of our cycling guide, Samy. We discovered Indonesian cuisine and we loved it. It's very refined with lots of flavors. A wonderful discovery!

Truly fantastic food. First time eating Indonesian and as vegetarians we weren’t quite sure what to expect. Everything was outstanding: the vegetables, the yellow rice, the tofu dish, the green beans, the corn fritters… truly a great meal full of different scents and flavors. The staff was also very nice and happily accommodated our toddler with a high chair and even made them a small bowl of rice and egg. Even though the restaurant is small and they were a little bit overwhelmed by a big party of about 14 people, everyone was friendly and smiling. The chef was also happily walking from table to table checking in on people. Highly recommend this place!

The atmosphere is great and the service is friendly. A total gem for authentic Indonesian flavors. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu! If you come here, you have to get the Beef Rendang. It is easily some of the best I’ve ever had.

This was a wonderful find and such a cosy place to eat. They are a very small restaurant so ideally make sure you book. We weren’t able to get a reservation for 3 so we enquired at the door and were put on a waitlist for an hour. A table became ready within that timeframe. The servers were friendly and it was lovely to see the open kitchen–it seems to be very family orientated. Chef Jun is also so welcoming and energetic which was great! We had a rice table for 3 and some drinks which cost 140€ which whilst a little on the pricier side the 38€ per person felt in line with the quality and quantity of the food. Everything was delicious and piping hot; fresh from the kitchen. Each item was carefully explained to us by our servers (and Jun himself) when they were brought out. If you are someone who drinks and likes very spiced, warming flavours such as cardamom and cloves I highly recommend you try the Sagan Spekkoek! If not, the homemade iced tea is also very delicious and has similar flavours. It was a very enjoyable experience overall and we’d definitely return as a treat.

We booked a table at 9:30 PM with a confirmation email through The Fork. Once we entered the restaurant, we were told the kitchen was closed and we couldn't eat. A disappointment.

Highly recommend this restaurant. The spring menu at the time was incredible. The dishes I had were flavorful and the perfect portion for 1 person with the choice of a set menu. You can choose a starter, two main dishes, one veggie dish. You can opt for the 5 course meal that includes all of the same options to choose from + dessert. In between my starter and mains, I noticed I was waiting awhile (possibly because my order was free of shellfish). Staff are very friendly and welcoming. I will be back.

The food was delicious! I ordered the Gado Gado Lombok takeout. I was a little hesitant to order it because of the price, €26. I didn't regret it, because the food was delicious. Fresh, with wonderfully crunchy vegetables. The Lombok version was exactly what I was craving. And the portion was so big I could eat it twice. I also thought the prawn crackers they included were a nice bonus :) In short, highly recommended!

Very friendly staff. Chef came to the table and explained all of his Indonesian delights. We let him order for us. The meal was amazing so many complex and fantastic flavors and they are really catered to our needs.

Very cozy restaurant with friendly service and delicious food packed with so much flavour. Highly recommend trying the choice menu with the soup or wontons, any of the beef dishes and the fried banana or coconut pudding for dessert.

Absolutely the best Indonesian restaurant in Amsterdam and surrounding areas. Everything handmade by the hard working and extremely friendly and hospitable Lombok chef and his lovely crew, from the tenderloin rendang to the sambal and seroendeng. The atmosphere is lovely, not too large and Dutch 'gezellig', but you come here for the food. Perfectly attuned spices, generous portions and it brings you right back to the beautiful isles of Indonesia. Highly recommended for real high quality Indonesian food and taste lovers.

As usual, we had a fantastic meal, Rijsttafel 2 is definitely our favorite. The Soto Ayam is definitely something to come back for.

This is by far the best Indonesian restaurant I’ve found in the Netherlands!!! Every dish burst with authentic flavor, and you can immediately taste that the spices are home-made and freshly mixed, just like the food back home. The aromas, the balance of seasoning, and the depth of the flavors all show true craftsmanship. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the service is just as impressive as the food. If you’re looking for real Indonesian cuisine prepared with care and tradition, this place is an absolute must-try. Jun will be placed on my “best of” list. 😃

I went here about 10 years ago and it was fantastic. I'm not sure if it's changed owners but the food was nowhere near as good as previous. Quite bland.

We tried the rice table set menu! It was a nice introduction to Indonesian-Dutch food for us with numerous smaller dishes that could be paired with rice. Not too spicy, as I know Indonesian food can tend to be! Preparation took a while, but we really didn’t mind since we were eager to try and not in a rush.

Exceptionally clean and wonderful, I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an enjoyable night out. The staff are very polite, the environment is spotless, and the food is delicious. Many thanks to the management, staff, and the chef for their great care and attention to detail.

Everything about Jun was amazing! We walked into a busy night without a reservation and they were kind enough to accommodate us. The staff was so helpful and made some great recommendations for our meal. We got one of the rice tables, which is a pre-set selection of several dishes, and every single one we tried was absolutely delicious. (Get the house-made sambal for the rendang and thank me later.) The chef even came out to speak with us after our meal to make sure we enjoyed everything. We had so much fun here and I cannot recommend it enough!!

I wish I could give 10 stars- the best meal we’ve ever had in Amsterdam. Incredible service and delightful dishes. We were blown away by the flavors, textures, and dishes. Highly recommend a rice table! You have a chance to try multiple delightful dishes. The drinks were lovely and we even indulged in dessert. The sorbet and espresso martini were fantastic. They did an exceptional job with my gluten allergy (gluten free/ celiac)- words cannot describe their thoughtfulness and care. Plus it was truly delicious- warming our soul. We can’t wait to come back. Thank you to the lovely owner!

They first refused to let us share a dish when we told them we weren't very hungry (the restaurant was almost empty). They then forced us to have main courses, and then they refused us a carafe of water in favor of (theirs) a bottle of mineral water. The food was pretty good and plentiful but not extraordinary either. It probably wasn't worth €37 per dish, it had no taste. So a bill of €105 for three, without dessert, coffee, or alcohol... well, it's a no. And don't tell me that this price is normal for Amsterdam because we've eaten much better elsewhere for that price.

Kind people, good food, OPTIONS, what else do you need

We had reservations for 6 persons, 3 big eaters, and 2 light eaters. And a medium. We entered and ordered 4 orders of rice table, and some wine and appetizers, intending to save a bit of room for desert. This was unexceptionable to them, as they insisted we all order main dishes regardless of what we wanted to eat. We left, and will not return. The food may be good or bad, but in a restaurant I wish to choose what I will eat . I do not wish to be forced to waste food. Food wastage is a problem in society, and environmentally, and I choose not to do that , at home or out and about. I will order what I think I will eat, and more if still hungry after I eat it.

The food is good, but Indonesian food in Amsterdam was so emphasized that I expected something a bit more substantial and refined. But dining isn't just about consuming food; it's an event, an experience, and that's what the people and service around you make. LOVED my experience here! I had the choice menu and it was delicious. My favorite was the Soto Ayana, the Ikan sambal goreng peteh, and Julie urap. The flavors are insanely good! My server was so helpful and nice, I really had a great experience.

I absolutely love this place! Easily the best Indonesian food I’ve ever tried in Amsterdam. The service is warm and attentive, and the rice table is a must-try. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience authentic Indonesian cuisine at its finest.

Forget the Indonesian food that you can usually get at the average Chinese restaurant on the corner. At Jun you get incredibly tasty and truly refined Indonesian food on your plate(s). You can even sit outside on the busy but cozy Frederik Hendrikstraat where all kinds of things pass by. Service is accurate, friendly and not at all pushy. Good acoustics and great chairs. Not too busy on a weekday when I came by with two former colleagues. Prices are reasonable, we paid 37 euros per person for the basic rice table. But with everything included 65 pp (including several Bintang and Chang beers, dessert, coffee with spekkoekje plus tip). In retrospect, we would have liked to have taken the more expensive rice tables because the basic rice table is not that extensive. We would have liked to eat a bit more of it, it was that tasty. But hey, everything was eaten clean and the staff did not have to throw anything away. We did get some rice on request. Definitely worth coming back for, but then for the more extensive rice table.

A restaurant a little off the tourist circuit. We were a family of six and after having difficulty understanding the menu, we realized that we had to take a menu with rice and side dishes for €37 per person. My mother, who was not very hungry, initially asked not to eat, but was told that she had to have a 30€ dish. She asked if she could have a starter and dessert instead (which was the same price) and was told that was not possible. In the end she received her dish and it wasn't even the one ordered originally... the food arrived and it was lots of different portions to share, there wasn't enough for the five people ordered. Small positive point, we could ask for more rice as much as we wanted. The food was good, but not excellent especially for €37 per person… no possibility of having a carafe of water without having ordered paid drinks before… addition to €237 per 6 people and not even small desserts on the menu given the price… Conclusion: rather disappointing value for money.

Had a nice evening, as the opening line of the menu says great Indonesian flavours and hospitality. The service matched that with very friendly staff, for me the food had good flavour but lacked a little punch and the presentation wasn’t quite matching that finer experience. Feedback on the menu, it could be simplified, the set menu’s needed some explaining, we ended up going for a set menu as we couldn’t agree on a combo. Also, only allowing tap water orders when a drink Is purchased is unnecessary. So I gave a 4/5, go give these guys a shout for mid week date night and you’ll be happy you did.

Nunca he tenido comida indonesia antes. ¡Qué buena experiencia! El surtido de platos ( 4 ) con la mesa de arroz fue generoso e interesante. Encontré la carne de res, con curry en ella un poco demasiado caliente para mí hasta que la combiné con las verduras frescas encurtidas y eso equilibró perfectamente el calor. Empezaron con su rollo de huevo, de nuevo, bueno y diferente. En resumen, ¿volveríamos, ABSOLUTAMENTE! Perfecto anoche en Amsterdam.

Pedimos la mesa de arroz y disfrutamos mucho. No suelo comer carne, pero el rendang de ternera era tan increíblemente sabroso que no podía dejar de comer! Lo mismo sucede con Ayam bagar Palembang y casi con todo lo demás. Muy recomendable!

If you want to be pampered in an Indian way, this is the place for you

Restaurant a little outside the “tourist route”, so you have to go looking for it, but it’s well worth it! Among the different choices, there is the possibility of taking the formula allowing you to share small dishes, to taste everything. The cuisine is truly excellent. The service is impeccable and responsive, the staff is very kind. I recommend.

I canceled my reservation at my arrival time because I was stuck in the parking lot and didn't want to keep the restaurant waiting unnecessarily. 1/2 hour later, I received this. Needless to say, I won't set foot there.

Comimos aquí en la noche de Navidad e hice la reserva con mucha antelación por correo electrónico, y las comunicaciones eran excelentes. Reservé este lugar porque quería rijsttafel, y las críticas aquí eran mejores que la mayoría. El servicio fue genial, el restaurante se ve muy bien. Era muy caro para lo que era. Como éramos cuatro, nuestros 3 mains venían en platos grandes para ser compartidos. Quizás sea algo gordo americano, pero sólo había comida suficiente para servir 3 , así que las porciones eran demasiado pequeñas, sobre todo porque era 36 euros por persona. Además, nunca indiqué un nivel de especias, asumiendo que sería medio picante, especialmente porque el restaurante estaba dirigido por indonesios y un poco fuera de la zona turística. Aunque todos los platos eran sabrosos, un poco de calor habría sido bienvenido. Simplemente nos fuimos hambrientos, y no pudimos evitar pensar que si solo fuéramos tres, ¿nos habrían servido la misma cantidad de comida?

The restaurant has such a nice ambience and everyone was very friendly and welcoming. And of course the food was so delicious. We ordered the vegetarian rijstaffel, and everything was flavorful with a great variety of dishes. We could each determine our own chili level by adding extra on our own, which was great, as some in our party preferred it mild, and some more spicy. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Very good! We recommend dishes to share accompanied by rice. The staff is very kind and attentive.

Having been here before, they hit it out of the ballpark! We opted for the extended rijsttafel #.2 so about 12 plus dishes including a dumpling appetizer. If you like spicy ask for the spicy version - if you are sharing, the sambals will adjust the liveliness of the dish.

In de top 10 van beste Indonesische restaurant? Ik zeg nee. De sotosoep was lekker maar de rest van de rijsttafel was flauw en commercieel gericht. Te weinig bumbu en de rendang was niet mijn ding. Wij zijn beter gewend en smaakvoller. Ga aub terug naar het originele gerecht en hou het bij het origineel.

Had a spectacular traditional rice table dinner. Sat outside on a beautiful day, the staff were spectacular and very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed some cocktails that were delicious and all the food was perfectly prepared. I would highly recommend taking the trip from Central Amsterdam out to here for a wonderful meal outside of the busy tourist area.
