Update: From 5 stars to 3 stars. Instead of white rice, I got a kind of "sambal rice," which was too hard to eat. Throwing away rice is usually a no-go. It looked like quick-cooked rice, Surinamese rice, or undercooked brown rice. Definitely not fragrant pandan/jasmine rice. I asked for sambal goreng beans but was given tumis beans. I couldn't order a certain dish with it, but I could through Thuisbezorgt (I checked the menu there). It's a bit shocking that the rice is actually the worst thing on the menu, and the service isn't as good anymore. The food used to be very good, flavorful, good portions, and good value for money. Maybe it's gotten a bit too busy? (My suggestion: Remove those Indonesian dishes and that terrible, non-Asian—probably quick-cooked—rice from the menu!) For rames (with white rice), it's better to go a bit further away. Traditional Indonesian dishes like Bakso, Rudjak Cinkur, and Rawon still receive 5 stars, and this remains a very good place! The rice gets a 1 and the service a 2. Hence the 3 stars.

Love all the food here. Mrs. Sri the owner was super friendly and kind. All the food served were authentic to the taste. I had nasi rames (mixed rice) and my partner had bakso soup (meatball soup) while my cousin had sate kambing (mutton skewers). All soooo delicious. Thank you and will definitely come back if I ever visit Amsterdam again!

Second Indonesian restaurant I tried here in Amsterdam. I had Nasi Rawon. It was really delicious. The owner even came over for a quick chat. It was freshly made the day before, but still very tasty if you don't eat Indonesian food very often. The place wasn't that big, but it was still worth the drive.

Cozy authentic Indonesian restaurant. Food are super tasty and you must try their signature dishes - very different from common Indonesian dishes that you normally have from the Dutch rijstafel.

The rolls themselves weren't fresh and fell apart. I tried to warm them up, but that didn't work. I just happened to drive by, but it wasn't a success.

We were looking to try some authentic Indonesian food, so we decided to try Warung Barokah for the first time. Upon arrival at the restaurant we had to wait 10-15min before we could order. Weirdly the staff helps and serves their own Indonesian acquaintances first with a bigger portion even though many of them arrived after us and ordered the same bakso soup. We didn’t mind much, since we had time. When we got our soups, half way of eating it I found a dead big black fly in the bottom of my bowl! There was no way of finding the fly beforehand since the noodles and beef balls were floating on top. We got disgusted by it and told the waitress about it quietly, not in front of the customers. The lady reacted totally indifferently and disingenuously. She even had the audacity to demand payment. Never in my life have I encountered such bad service and attitude! To the owners, no need to contact me for a compensation as I won’t ever visit your restaurant again after this incident. Please recheck your kitchen hygiene and train your staff properly regarding customer service.

This is a homey small Indonesian eatery in Amsterdam. About 20-30 minutes public transport from Amsterdam CS as well from Sloterdijk . We were lucky (2 persons) that we immediately could order and seat. They serve some street foods (gado-gado, ketoprak, baso or meatballs soup, etc) as well complete meals. We had ketoprak, rujak cingur, baso kuah, and cendol. Ketoprak tasted very much like the version we ate in Jakarta. Rujak cingur was yummy. Baso soup was really good. The portion was generous if we consider the prices. Below the average from other places I ate before. The ladies who served us were very friendly and really make sure that we had everything we needed. Their sambal was great for baso soup. Their toilet is clean and modern . RECOMMENDED.

Authentic Indonesian food in a tiny Warung. We both had the Rames Special comprised of your choice of base, fried vermicelli or rice (fried/nasi goreng or white) two meats (beef or chicken cooked in different styles like rendang, soya sauce, or spicy chilli) 2 styles of veggies (chilli aubergines, mixed veg, or coconut spiced green beans) the special comes with a chicken satay stick. Popular place so we shared a table whilst throughout our meal the queue for take outs was ever present. Thanks ladies for the watermelon slices we all shared amongst the diners on a warm summer evening.

Portions are generous, prices are reasonable, and the service is warm and friendly. The space is quite small seating around 10–15 people max, so it can feel a bit tight during busy hours, but it adds to the cozy, homestyle vibe. Overall, a recommended spot for a satisfying and affordable Indonesian meal in the city. Definitely worth a visit!

Saoto soup was tasty but the “nasi” may not be called nasi. This is as was also said below, rice with sambal. Indo here but this is really not possible. Too bad!

Good Indonesian food served by two indonesian ladies.

We went to Amsterdam for a week because my wife wanted to try Indonesian food. Then we discovered this restaurant and noticed that they cook authentically, like in Indonesia, with love, and they have simply delicious dishes like beef tongue and rawon. That's why this restaurant is our favorite of all Indonesian restaurants. It's also very affordable and relaxed.

I don't often write a review, but I would like to do so for this restaurant. Just had a delicious Bakso soup and noodles Rames special. Nice and tasty! The restaurant is not large and has two tables. Furthermore, it was nice and busy with people who picked up. Staff are very friendly.

It tastes like home. Particularly if you have lived in east java before. Authentic Indonesian food with several options of my favourite dishes with petis sauce 😋 👌

We ordered 2 wok boxes for today‘s iftar. I had nasi with terong (Aubergine) and tempeh orek, & my sis ordered bihun with ayam suwir pedas and sayur buncis jagung. We loveeee it!! I never find an Indonesian warung concept like this in Germany, so I’m very happy to find this warung. Also the owners are very kind, nice to be able to chat with them. Sukses selalu om tante🥰

Good food, for people missing home indonesian

Thanks for bringing a taste of Indonesia here in Amsterdam. I would come back again. The only hiccup was the service of one of the blonde haired staff would give us an odd look when she couldn't understand our English. It was really odd ... almost like she didn't want us there. I didn't think it was personal to us but she should likely review how she handles clients when she can't understand them.

This was the best Indonesian food we’ve had in all of Amsterdam. The pricing was just right and as opposed to other restaurants, you’re able to choose which vegetables and meats you want instead of having a set menu. Additionally, they stack the plate full so you definitely get your moneys worth. Would absolutely recommend this place to everyone

Delicious dutch Indonesian food! This takeout/restaurant offers all the classics, all made my the lovely ladies working behind the counter. The portions are also very big so getting a menu here will definitely fill you up. I highly recommend checking them out.

While the Rujak Cingu was good, the Bakso soup and the Nasi rawon were extremely salty. The beef in the Rawon was tender and flavorful, but the broth was very very salty. I was shocked to see everyone else eating normally. The very nice owner offered extra soup when I mentioned the Bakso was too salty, but the extra soup was salty too! And also tasted very strongly of msg. I have no problem with msg, only when that's the only thing you taste. Then chendol was good if not a bit too sweet. Maybe the other dishes were fine like the Rujak, but the soups were just puzzlingly inedibly salty.

It's a real warung. An eatery where you can quickly enjoy authentic Indonesian food.

The restaurant on Google is open until 8pm, we arrived at 6.30pm and were asked impatiently by a young woman if we would dine in or take away, I said dine in and she said she didn't have enough time. I said I'd finish it quickly and the "non-smiling" lady went off to serve someone else without comment and didn't say another word to us for the ten minutes we waited. Then came an older lady who asked us what we wanted to eat, a little more amiable than the one before but still with a bitter expression, and after learning that we were going to eat inside the restaurant she said that it closed at seven today, and it dawned on us why we were short of time. We were made to wait fifteen minutes for something that could have been explained in one sentence. Also I really don't like this kind of bitter service attitude, it affects my mood of eating.

Feels like a family-run place, it’s small with a few seats. The food is authentic home cooked, very delicious and affordable! We had to wait awhile for the food but only because there were so many people coming in and out. It’s popular with locals.

Overpriced for the portions you get... lady coughs into her hands and then continues working without washing her hands, after putting on a face mask. I had difficulty reheating both plates of food because it was still cold. I asked with shame for some more noodles after the last little leftovers for my plate were scraped together from the display case. Full portions are served to their own friends/family 😅?

We really appreciate this place, but unfortunately we have had an "instant" stomach ache a few times, within half an hour of eating. While we always order the same thing (vegetarian rames and normal rames with 2 types of chicken). The last time everything was floating in oil. We weren't used to that. I also experienced twice (on the hottest days) that the noodles smelled rotten. That's why we no longer pick up on the hottest days anyway. I waited a long time to post this review because this has been my favorite for a long time and I think the ladies are super nice. We'll try again someday, but for now we don't dare anymore.
