Very bad, waiting an hour for your starter, and after the main course you were never seen at our table to ask if we wanted dessert, never again!

Nice place to sit outside. Cozy. It was very busy so the service could not handle it. Sometimes a bit of a wait but friendly. Fine.

Had dinner here a while ago and come here regularly for a drink. Quality is very good and the staff is very helpful. The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere. It's not very big, so you can easily hear the rest of your party.

The spring rolls were soft & had a strange texture on the inside. You had to beckon the waiter several times to be able to order anything at all. It wasn't very busy. What was ordered came quickly! You can sit comfortably here and you have a nice view. The price wasn't too bad either. All in all, things could still be a little better! We'll be back for a second chance.

The character salad was very disappointing for that price. Very little sweet potato was in there, the size of corn kernels. And for the rest it was mainly some lettuce with 2 sandwiches. Very unfortunate!

A nice experience on a sunny Wednesday afternoon in October. Cozy terrace with plenty of choice between shade and sun and friendly employees. The food and drinks are not only delicious but are served with that little bit of extra attention and presentation. Top.

Tables were not cleared (sand on the table), drinks ordered arrived 15 minutes later and were still fine (ask for an ashtray but it never came). It took more than 20 minutes before we received the menu. And we only got the food after 1.5 HOURS. In short, the food was good, but the service was definitely not worth repeating.

If you have small children and you want to sit on a terrace in the meantime, it is a great place. It's just a shame that the satay is of such poor quality that you only have to have coffee. In my opinion, the satay was pre-cooked after which it hung in the fryer for a while, so the structure was no longer good. That satay is the only negative thing about the place. The service, despite the fact that the girl did the entire side alone, was extremely good and smooth.

Smoothie is not a smoothie. Only juice mix. A mini glass also costs 5.50. Carafe of water is a bottle of 6.25. Great location, excellent service. For us it is just not worth repeating in this way.

Nice large terrace for a nice drink, cozy atmosphere.

The last time was disappointing, I had a flamkuchen that was only crispy on the edges, and the rest was very soggy due to the amount of (sweet) sauce and chicken. It was also disturbing that smoking was still allowed on this terrace, where families with children come (with a beach). As a non-smoker, it is not nice to have to deal with the stench of others. The changing table for children in diapers is quite small. It's a shame because the location is nice, children can play nicely, and you have a reasonable choice of dishes.

Vandaag bij Karakter gegeten. Voorgerecht de champignons en olie was heerlijk. Daarna hoofdgerecht Mixed grill. Duurde 1,5 uur en toen ook nog lauw. Tegenvaller. Hier gaan we niet meer heen. Gemiste kans.

Last Sunday we had dinner with 5 people and two children. None of us really enjoyed our meal. There wasn't anything really wrong, but there was no taste to it whatsoever. We will go back for a drink, but certainly not for lunch.

Took a very long time before we could order. The clubs were very thinly invested. After we made a comment about this, the response was quite indifferent. But it remains a beautiful place.

Nice to sit...service often takes too long before they come to your table...coffee wasn't really hot today! And I think it's expensive for just a cup of coffee, €3.20...

Long wait for food even though it wasn't busy

Overall a good experience, but one important tip: the chicken burger was quite spicy, which I did not know in advance. It would be nice if this was added to the menu.

Spicy and salty Caesar salad. The salmon is delicious. The tables and seats are close together.

I've been waiting on the terrace for 15 minutes so my order is asked... they walk past my table, they take the menu from my table but ask if I want something??? In the meantime I am still waiting…. The fact that the drinks menu is open in front of me really means that I want to order???

Delicious food! Highly recommended. We were 5 people and we all had a very tasty meal for a fair price. Nice staff who are clearly doing their best. We will definitely come back here.

The name is missing in all aspects. We had made a reservation for 4 people at 9 am and 2 people were 15 minutes late. After we were complete we wanted to order and were told that the kitchen was closed. They could also have indicated that the kitchen would close at 9:15 PM and not take reservations before 9:00 PM. Characterless Fortunately we were able to go to the neighbors (Bite).

Vandaag hier gegeten met een collega. De carpaccio is de kant en klare pakjes versie en dan ook nog niet echt iets wat je carpaccio kun noemen. Enfin dan naar het hoofdgerecht de kipsate. Hoeveelheid prima in orde maar helaas de kipspies wat zwart gebakken en te gaar/kurkdroog. De kok heeft nog wel wat kooklessen nodig. Bediening verder prima in orde vandaar nog de 2 sterren

Great food, but everything takes way too long every time. You've already had 3 drinks before dinner arrives. This is not just one time that this has happened, but more often. So great food, but don't go there if you want to get away quickly.

Nice restaurant on the city beach. There are high and low tables. The high tables have a bench and when you sit on it you always have to lean far forward to eat. Your feet are on a bar. You cannot sit close to the table to eat. The kitchen is open so you can see the chef cooking. The dishes are beautifully served with boiled, unpeeled vegetables. Nice staff. There are only 2 vegetarian main dishes and when we were there you couldn't choose 1. So you had no choice as a vegetarian.

We were in a hurry and luckily we were helped quickly. We regretted one thing afterwards. We ordered 'water' and got what we asked for: a glass of water. Without a bottle... but we paid €3.10 (!) for 'Chaudfontaine'. Could it really be from this brand or did the water just come from the tap (there is nothing wrong with that)? We do not know. And we find that an unpleasant uncertainty. Because water from the tap does not have to cost € 3.10!

A nice spot to sit and have a drink. This restaurant has a playground in front of it, which is great for the ones who have kids. They can play while you sip your drink and keep an eye on them. If you don't want kids screaming in the background while you eat, then you need to choose another place. The chicken burger and fries where O.K. and the service was fine.

Had a nice lunch last weekend. We had not made a reservation and at 12 noon there was plenty of room on the terrace. The children had a great time playing in the adjacent playground. Food was to your liking.

Great restaurant to eat, reasonably safe menu choice including carpaccio and chicken satay. Some more vegetarian options. A small note: I had a pulled jackfruit with coleslaw on brioche bread. However, the brioche bread was a regular white bun, just the kind you can buy at the supermarket. Nothing wrong with that, but you shouldn't put "brioche bun" on the menu. Food was fine.

It all looks nice, but for us once and never again. The food tasted like ready-made. Not tender meat at all, and we were shocked when we got the bill. What an absurd price for such poor quality. We also felt that there was not much choice, especially as a pregnant woman. Service could also be a little better in our opinion. Pity.

Had a lovely lunch with four people yesterday. The salad of the day with trout was really delicious. No soil taste!!!!! The other dishes were also delicious. It was pleasantly busy. The only downside is that we had to wait quite a long time for lunch. But otherwise it is definitely recommended to have lunch here.

Karakter is a nice restaurant in the center of Veenendaal. The restaurant looks good and well maintained. The service is very friendly. The open kitchen is fine in itself, but the entire restaurant smells of old frying fat. That's just a ventilation problem. The Carpaccio's taste is good, but the meat is stringy and tough. Shame. The Steak tartare was very tasty and highly recommended! The chicken satay was nice and tender with good satay sauce and fries. The Character Burger was tasty, but it was not what was expected for €19. The burger could be thicker. The dessert, the Lava cake with ice cream, is also very tasty. The coffee is great! Karakter is a nice restaurant among many, but in our opinion not distinctive enough. There is much more to be achieved. Crack a big Green Egg in the kitchen to give the meat that delicious charcoal smoke flavor. Then you will have the tent full in no time! It's okay, a 7.

Tonight I walked in without a reservation to ask for a table for 3 people and preferably left within an hour because of a concert. That was no problem at all! We were served very friendly and quickly and were out again within the hour. Top service and delicious food! Great restaurant!

Nice place, especially on very hot days. The shady spots make it nice. Children in the playground for you. Reasonably priced drinks, the meal is of good quality and the price is certainly reasonable. Depends on the staff how good the rating is. The first two times definitely worth five stars, the last few times only one star. The four stars given are because of the quality of the food in combination with the price. In general, the quality of service in the catering industry is declining, but a good employer can learn how things should be done. Hopefully that will also happen here, then the tent will certainly be worth five stars. I'd say give it a try.

SHAME !!! Been there a few times. 1 time for lunch. Had to wait more than 30 minutes for our food. The food was super tasty. Came twice for nothing because the "delicious" iced coffee had run out. (there was a sign outside that they had it) Tried to order iced coffee today. This was there now. Ordered 2 different flavors. The iced coffee with hazelnut did not taste like hazelnut. Asked the waiter if they had not given a "normal" iced coffee and they said that this was really the coffee with hazelnut. At checkout it was stated again that this coffee had no hazelnut flavor. The response was that the hazelnut was almost gone and that less (the last bit) had been put in the coffee. A bad thing. Just tell us in advance that the hazelnut is gone so that you can choose a different flavor and don't say when you first ask whether it is correct because the coffee should be like that. The staff and service do their best, but there are still some errors here and there with the serving (wrong tables). The food is very good and the location is perfect.

Shocked how the owner reacted to a couple who no longer had a table to sit at and therefore sat on a separate chair. They wanted to order something from the waiting staff, but were later told by the would-be owner whether she wanted to leave his terrace if they could not sit at their table. This was not done in a particularly friendly tone. This is because these guests were very nice, friendly people. Won't be sitting there again anytime soon. Service and snacks were also excellent.

We wanted to have lunch and came up with the idea of ​​going to Karakter. It was not that busy but we were not noticed. It seemed as if the service was in its own bubble.
