Perfect location and great staff we love coming there

A beautiful spot in Hindeloopen overlooking the harbor. The magnificent old building is also the most beautiful and best-located restaurant on the waterfront. De Hinde has been a fixture for many years and has always been a haven for top-quality, expertly prepared dishes. It's important to emphasize that they don't place undue emphasis on the finishing touches or the visual appeal of the plate. This purist approach is often misunderstood, and unfortunately, some people prioritize appearance over taste. The focus is on the product itself, presented as naturally as possible and subtly enhanced with French flavors. The dishes and style may have aged, but that's perfectly fine. It's a bastion of classic cuisine and quality. From perfectly cooked mussels and the rare Wadden Sea oyster to wild duck, perch, or pike-perch as winter approaches. Anyone with an eye for wine should check out the wine list. A fantastic selection at very fair prices. You won't find anything like this in Germany for a long time. The service is impeccable, and the owner is a lady. That deserves respect. Meanwhile, there's also some young talent doing an excellent job. We hope to be able to eat here often and wish the owners continued strength, pride, and energy to make this authentic, high-quality cuisine possible. You won't find another restaurant of this caliber until you go to Harlingen.

We had dinner at De Hinde. Beautiful location, decor, and a lovely atmosphere. The food was excellent, with a surprisingly sublime croquette made with Wadden Sea mussels as a bonus. Before leaving, we also bought a very tasty homemade pot of sambal. We will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful lunch at De Hinde! Beautiful location, lovely atmosphere, and an excellent wine list with lovely house wines. I had the bouillabaisse, generously filled and beautifully prepared. My wife chose the daily special: a beautiful, large fried plaice, super fresh and perfectly cooked on the skin. Everything was perfect: the flavors, the presentation, and the hospitable service. Highly recommended for a relaxing lunch or dinner.

Very nice ambiance. A bit like an upscale French bistro—simply beautiful. Good and not overly long menu. Delicious food and good service. A very large wine selection, including good wines by the glass. A gem in Hindeloopen.

Had an excellent cup of coffee. And a delicious slice of homemade apple pie with real whipped cream. Highly recommended.

Yesterday, the two of us were at De Hinde, and it was a wonderful evening! We chose a set menu, and the special treat (cucumber soup) and the mussel appetizer were particularly exquisite! We'd love to come back to Bea & Harmen, Martin, and Stephanie.

After waiting an hour and a half, the first course arrived. A few delicious olives followed. The food was delicious, but you had to wait a long time. An hour later, the next person arrived and it was ready for us... The curly-haired waiter was very arrogant. But the food, location, and other waiters were excellent. A very nice wine list with many German wines.

We had dinner at De Hinde in Hindeloopen tonight. We were curious because of the 4.1-star rating. But we were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was cozy, but we already knew that. The service was excellent, and the lady herself welcomed the guests warmly. The food was excellent and the quantity was also good. There wasn't much choice of wine by the glass, but the white wine was good and the red wine (Zweigelt) was excellent. We will definitely be back.

Great place for a drink. The service took a bit too long. I also wanted to have lunch there, but ultimately decided against it because the lunch menu was very limited to a few salads, a grilled cheese sandwich, and a hamburger. Drinks are also difficult. There aren't even any fried snacks. A missed opportunity, I think.

I have to revise my positive review from 2024 after a return visit in 2025. The food was unfortunately not good. I had ceviche as a starter, which was completely overly acidic. My palate was still burning long afterward. Otherwise, the dish lacked any flavor. The main courses were okay, but nothing special. The side dishes are unfortunately from the last century. Especially since the potatoes weren't cooked to perfection. The service was actually good, but the manager is very moody. I was very rudely informed that the starter couldn't be combined with the menu, but would be à la carte. I still don't understand the problem. Unfortunately, the expectations and reality don't match up for us. Considering the food, the price is unfortunately not appropriate. It's a shame, because a restaurant with slightly more upscale cuisine would be a great fit for Hindeloopen.

I paid €28.50 for two toasted sandwiches, one iced tea, and one cappuccino. A reason for me to never come here again. Otherwise, the staff was friendly.

We had a wonderful meal at De Hinde. A delicious, traditional 3-course meal. The starter was a delicious pate or tartare that was beautifully presented. The main course could have been a bit smaller in terms of meat. The crème brûlée was superb. We chose some lovely wines from the wine list. Everything was served promptly, and the waiter was a super nice young man who fit right in and brought a touch of flair.

We ate there as a family. The kids had burgers and fries. The burgers consisted of just a meat patty, one for each of them. Mixed salad and a small bowl of fries for three kids came in a small bowl. The veal tasted good but was very fatty and undercooked. There was a small bowl of potatoes for four adults, with each getting one small potato. The table next to us served the same amount for two adults. They clearly distinguish between tourists and locals. The price-performance ratio is completely out of whack. I would strongly advise anyone against a visit.

See below... Logement De Hinde is picturesquely situated on the harbor of Hindeloopen. With its charming location, stylish decor, and ambition for refined cuisine, expectations were high. Unfortunately, our visit with four adults and a baby only partially met these expectations. We had deliberately reserved a table for 6:00 PM to avoid the crowds – and were indeed among the first guests. However, the menu turned out to be surprisingly small: two set menus and only a handful of individual dishes (one meat dish, two or three fish or shellfish dishes). A limited menu needn't be a problem, but at this price point, we expected a bit more choice. The evening got off to a good start. The starters – steak tartare and mussels au gratin – were delicious, and the mussels are especially recommended. Unfortunately, the main course's quality dropped somewhat: the fish fillet tasted fine, but several bones were found, which noticeably diminished the appetite of one of us. A painful oversight for a dish in this price range. The response to a request for extra sauce with the meat dish also surprised us: a simple "no" – without explanation or alternative. We'd never experienced that before. The side dishes – cucumber salad and potatoes – were tasty in themselves, but with two small bowls for four adults (and a baby), they were rather meager. We could have ordered more, but given the long wait, we decided against it. It was also a shame that – despite my mentioning an onion intolerance during the starter – they didn't offer a modified version of the cucumber salad. Instead, I got a simple leafy salad without much dressing. The dessert, crème brûlée, had to be eaten hastily – not out of gluttony, but because the entire dinner (three courses) took over three hours. With a baby in tow, that was far from relaxing. Our friendly request for a quicker service was ignored – while tables that arrived later were sometimes served earlier. When we finally ordered dessert under the clear condition that it would be served within five minutes, it still took fifteen minutes – even though we had already asked for the bill. Of course, the dessert was still on the bill. Conclusion: The food was okay, some parts even tasty. But the service – overworked, inattentive, and at times downright unfriendly – left much to be desired. With a bill of over €250, the value for money was unfortunately not right. Will we visit Logement De Hinde again? Perhaps – but certainly not with children, and then only in the hope that the service has improved by now. We simply would have liked a better meal today. ---------------------------- Beautifully situated restaurant with a good presentation, but not overwhelming. The dishes were good, especially the muscheln. Die Hauptgericht dagegen nur mittelmäßig – Gräten im Fisch, zu wenig Beilagen und keine Flexibilität bei Sonderwünschen (z.B. more Soße oder Zwiebelunverträglichkeit). Der Service war überorderert und unaufmerksam, wodurch das Essen unnötig in die Länge zog (über 3 Stunden mit Baby). Preis-Leistung stimmt bei 250€ Gesamtrechnung nicht. Leader enttäuschend, obwohl Potenzial vorhanden ist.

My mom found a piece of plastic in her food, to which they only responded by saying “oooh sorry, we are going to see what happened there” they back to ask for the bill payment and that’s it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Friends had reserved a table here during a vacation. Unfortunately, they hadn't asked in advance whether dogs were allowed. This was immediately made clear on arrival with numerous stickers. Our small, really sweet and quiet dogs weren't even allowed on the outdoor terrace. I've actually never heard of them being banned even there. So we didn't eat there. If you can afford it these days, then it's fine; as a dog owner, I think it's a shame.

Dogs are not allowed here! U can enjoy a lovely evening with exquisite food and lovely wines! No disturbances from dogs.

Do not accept dogs even on the terrace. Sympathy is not on the menu today.

There is nothing wrong with the food at all. The location is ideal and you are surprised to find such upscale cuisine here. Unfortunately, the service was a bit inattentive and that takes away one star.

Nicely decorated restaurant, friendly staff, but far too small a lunch menu (oysters, two types of soup, a sandwich or a hamburger were all the options available). The difference in menu with the neighbors (Ame Gijs) is very big.

Atmospheric restaurant in a beautiful location. Unfortunately, there is not a single vegetarian dish on the menu. There was also no willingness to offer a tasty vegetarian alternative. Very inhospitable in these times when we increasingly want to eat vegetarian food. We ended up spending our €400 with the neighbors.

Very sympathic place with great food , lovely service and a fantastic wine card. Our place to be in Hindeloopen. Back again, every year our highlight on the sailing tour.

Average restaurant in Hindeloopen. If you want fries and they do not come with your dish in the menu, you cannot get them extra for reasons I didn't really understand. Waitress was kind of rude, asked if i have missed the fries with my burger after I have finished and then mentioned I should have better gone to McDonalds. Great attitude 🙄 The Riesling was my personal highlight, cheers to whoever designed the wine menu. No American Express accepted, only Visa and Mastercard.

They had a small menu, were not very flexible about extra fries, but the bouillabaisse and tomato soup were very tasty!

Nice restaurant, super delicious cake, but the service left a lot to be desired. After we were brought drinks and the menu, we were ignored and only after repeated requests did they take our order. The restaurant was empty at the time and the waitress was just standing around, so it couldn't have been because of the workload. The prices are rather high, which is definitely justified by the taste and quality, but not by the service.

Because most catering establishments in Hindeloopen are closed on Mondays, we ended up at the Hinde for lunch. After being ignored for 10 minutes, we asked for a menu and asked if we could order something to drink. Two glasses of Riesling took 15 minutes to arrive, we were already wondering whether the grapes still needed to be picked. The lunch menu is very limited, but the sandwich is very tasty. I cannot recommend rye bread with sheep's cheese. A slice of rye bread with tasteless cheese. Salt and oil were supplied, but it was very disappointing. I don't recommend this restaurant for lunch.

I was disappointed, you couldn't get chocolate milk or Fristi. I think it would be useful if you also want to give children a drink. And I didn't think the price ratio was good either.

It is clear that a meal in such a restaurant is expensive, but the quantity is objectionable. The fact that I have to live largely on dry store fries and discount sauces for the high price is another negative aspect. For high prices I expect good quality and in this case I am by no means satisfied.

What a hospitable place, and with pure and honest products close to their origins. I will definitely come back and recommend it to everyone!!!

We are very disappointed with the store. After a long walk we were looking forward to a nice café with cake. But since we were traveling with our dog, we were not allowed to go into the restaurant (I can still understand it) or sit on the deserted terrace. The only thing we were offered was a coffee to go. We rejected Danked.

We have had many delicious meals in this restaurant with our pet for many years. However, there was a year when the waiting time was really too long. We think waiting an hour for your drink is a long time. But now it appears that our little dog is no longer welcome. We heard a new rule since last year from I think the owner. And we were not allowed to sit at the table even though we were the only guests. The only table occupied was by our own staff who had nothing to do. We have never experienced that our dog is not welcome. Sail or drive to Makkum, where the catering industry still appreciates its customers. Delicious food at Thuishaven, super friendly and all dogs welcome.

They don't have the tap open. Sparrows fall from the roof, it's teeming with tourists 🙄

Ein sehr schönes und sehr gutes Restaurant. Die Lage, unmittelbar am Hafen von Hindeloopen passt zum gesamten Ambiente. Die Mitarbeiter sind freundlich, das Essen, wir aßen Tomatensuppe, Zwiebelsuppe und anschließend Muscheln, schmeckte sehr gut und die Portionen waren genau richtig. Ich kann das Restaurant nur empfehlen.

Ein schönes Restaurant mit Blick auf den Hafen. Hervorragender Service. Eine tolle Auswahl an Weinen und Spirituosen. Kleine Speisekarte mit guter Auswahl. Möglichkeit für Menü. Das Essen hat gut geschmeckt, allerdings fehlt für den Anspruch auf gehobene Gastronomie noch Einiges an Feinheit , Innovation und vor allem Präsentation des Essens auf dem Teller. Nichtsdestotrotz ein tolles Restaurant.

Alleen wat gedronken op het bloemrijke terras van dit wat sjieke restaurantje met uitzicht op de jachthaven van Hindeloopen. Lekker lokaal biertje en snelle bediening. Jammer dat er geen menukaart op tafel ligt, al weet de serveerster gelukkig het aanbod te vertellen. Binnen ook leuk ingericht.

Heel erg leuk eetcafetje in Hindelopen. Je voelt je meteen thuis omdat het je een huiskamer gevoel geeft. Goede koffie en mooie lunchkaart. Het was er gezellig druk. Ligt op een mooie plek met mooi uitzicht. Terras is ook aanwezig.

Erg lang moeten wachten op een klein bakje koffie. Ze bleven maar opnemen en serveerde niks uit. We zagen de koffie allang klaar staan. Tegenvallende bak cappuccino, was voor de helft gevuld.

Fantastisch restaurant, zeer goede bediening en heerlijk eten. Wij komen hier al jaren.

Lunchkaart met weinig keus. Honden niet meer toegestaan op het terras. Zou er niet gauw weer gaan eten. In het verleden was ik te vreden. Maar ze lijken een andere richting in te gaan. Voor mij geen aanrader.

We hebben een verrukkelijk appeltaart gegeten met échte slagroom. Aardig en efficient bediening en gezellig sfeer.

Verder geen ervaring hoor met dit restaurant, maar gemeld werd dat er vleeswaren op het terras lagen en dat dat niet goed is voor 'onze' hond. Oh, nou mevrouw dan laten we het liggen voor een andere hond of voor de meeuwen. Eh....? Alsof bewerkte vleeswaren wél goed zijn voor andere honden en/of meeuwen. Later: of bedoelt u dat we het op moeten ruimen? Verder: weinig keus voor vegetariërs zag ik (ben ik zelf overigens niet, ben flexitariër, maar de keus moet er - zeker in deze tijd! - wel zijn)! Reden om hier niets te bestellen al met al. 🫠😅

Glaasje wijn met diverse heerlijke borrelhapjes genuttigd. We hadden borrelplankje worst besteld en zagen later dat we er 2 betaald hadden. We hadden liever gehad als dat vooraf bekend was geweest.

On a cold windy day I entered into the cozyness of this tastefully decorated restaurant with vibes of a bygone era. The tables and chair certify this establishment has thrived for a few decades. I was served a rather interesting expression of the hamburger with amazing Dutch cheese on top. I wish to visit this place more often.

Vergangenen Montag verbrachte ich hier mit meiner Frau einen wundervollen Abend. Das Personal war sehr zuvorkommend, kompetent und kommunikativ. Das Essen war überragend, die begleitenden Weine exzellent ausgewählt. Sowas bleibt einem in guter Erinnerung. Am nächsten Tag wurde uns sogar noch zugewunken, als wir mit dem Segelboot ablegten. Vielen Dank - wir kommen gerne wieder!

Tolles Ambiente, sehr nette, freundliche, zuvorkommende Bedienung. Essen sehr erlesen. Wir hatten ein 3 Gänge Menue. Es hat uns fantastisch geschmeckt. Können wir wärmstens empfehlen.

Sehr schöne Aussicht auf den Hafen

Ein Kurzurlaub im Oktober 2022 in Hindeloopen hat uns zufällig in dieses Restaurant geführt. Die Lage ist toll, direkt am Hafen. Es wirkte schon von außen sehr gemütlich und einladend und so sind wir mit 4 Personen spontan eingekehrt. Der Empfang war sehr freundlich und das Personal agierte aus meiner Sicht sehr professionell. Die Speisekarte ist - was die Auswahl der Speisen angeht - sehr überschaubar. Aus Erfahrung weiß ich aber, dass dies eher für Qualität spricht. Und so war es auch. Wir bestellten zunächst einen offenen Rotwein und beschäftigten uns dann mit der Speisekarte. Nachdem wir die Bestellung aufgegeben haben, wurde uns schon bald ein Amuse Gueule gereicht, der uns allen schier die Sprache verschlug. Eine Blattsalat-Suppe in einem kleinen Glasgefäß (ähnlich dem eines Schnapsglases). So einfach wie es klingt so lecker und schmackhaft war dieser kleine Gruß aus der Küche. Hervorragend! Um es kurz zu machen: Das gesamte Menü war eine Klasse für sich. Hervorragend zubereitet und angerichtet. Das Timing zwischen den Gängen war ebenfalls perfekt. Wir alle waren uns einig, dass das Team von De Hinde uns einen zauberhaften Abend beschert hat. Sollten wir mal wieder in der Gegend sein, werden wir dieses Restaurant auf jeden Fall sehr gern wieder aufsuchen. Übrigens: Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist spitze. Wir haben pro Person um die 75,00 EUR für ein 3-Gänge-Menü inkl. Getränke gezahlt.
