I visited this place for dinner at the beginning of November 2025, on a Saturday evening. The plan was to order some vegetarian spring rolls, yaki udon (Japanese noodles), and their Thai chicken curry pot. Plus a small portion of sparkling water. There is a lot to unpack, so let me cover the food first, and then establishment and the service experience. For sparkling water, I was served BRU, with a glass. That was fine. The spring rolls arrived on a plate, with a fair portion of sweet chili sauce. That was okay, even though the rolls could have been a bit less stiff and fresher. For the cost, that was a 4/5. For yaki udon, I keep in mind that this is a side dish, a rather generous portion for the price. The noodles were good; the ingredients there, tasting acceptably fresh. On improvements side, the noodles could have used a bit more sauce and I was also surprised to find pieces of raw onion in. Garnish with scallions is fine, but it is unusual for raw onion to make its way among those noodles. Then the chicken curry. I had the highest hopes for this dish. In terms of presentation, it was underwhelming; the dish looked pale, and as if it was cobbled together in a rush, topped up with an insufficient amount of broth to cover the other ingredients on the plate. Tasting: the dish had an overpowering acidic taste combined with a kick of heat that may have been too much. I am far from averse to the heat, but I would like other flavors to have a chance to pop. This serving didn't have that. Ingredients: further, I was quite disappointed in the chicken, which was rubbery and tasteless (overcooked?); having separated the chicken from the dish, I tried the rest. From the other ingredients, only the bell pepper cuts tasted acceptably fresh / were not over/undercooked. I gave up eating this dish. That was a 1/5. The portion itself could have been fair for the price if the dish were okay on all of the above points. But this dish was a complete disappointment. The main dish is definitely dragging down the rest of the dining experience. My belly also disagreed with the meal. Hence 2/5 for the food. To the soft product. From the outside, this place looks good. Modern. Spatious. Classy. I think there is great potential for this place to shine in the neighborhood as a fine dining establishment. My arrival experience was weird. Upon entering, I was told I could pick my seat, which made sense since the place was about half-seated. I picked a seat. Soon, I was told the table I was sitting at was reserved (it didn't have a "reserved" sign, but whatevs), and was relocated to another table with four seats. I didn't take the hint that only two seats on that table had the chopsticks, and I happened to pick one of the two other seats. xD Soon, when my water arrived, I realized they placed the glass not in front of me, but in the spot for the seat I wasn't sitting on. xD Okay... they mean business, time to change again where I am sitting. xD I found that part funny. They could have just asked me to change the seat... One more weird thing. For some reason, the staff kept forgetting in which language I had been consistently addressing them (English). On the positive side, I appreciate a lot that the staff noticed I struggled with the chopsticks on the spring rolls, and have served me other meals with utensils common in the West (I intended to ask them for that anyway). The experience of interacting with staff was a 3/5 altogether. I found it unusually tedious. This last bit didn't affect my score, but I find it worth mentioning that you probably want to make a reservation for this place. I entered the restaurant impromptu on Saturday evening, as it seemed half-seated, and was (ultimately) given the table with the worker's station right behind me. I think that table shouldn't exist. The noise from the staff working and (as it happens) loud customers talking with the staff right next to you can definitely downgrade the dining experience, as mine sure was. I filter it out from the score (atmosphere) but I hope the owner is reading this.

Wonderful place. I was brought here by a friend of mine that lives close by. Staff was really nice (special thanks to Christina🙏🏽). We had a menu with classics such as sushi, gyoza’s, duck pancakes etc. Every dish was well executed and tasty. The only negative thing was they were already closing down at around 9:30pm on a Thursday! For instance, the dining room in the back was closed and they turned off the lights. Not very welcoming and when I went to the bathroom, the hallway was a mess with all kinds of crates and stuff lying around..A bit odd if you ask me. Other than that, I highly recommend!

Dinner at this restaurant was a highlight of our weekend getaway. We received a warm welcome and were given a table with a beautiful view of the square. The menu featured seasonal dishes, which is always a good sign. I chose the stew, which was slow-cooked and full of flavor. My partner had the vegetarian curry, which was fragrant and spicy. The service was attentive and explained the details of each dish thoroughly. The atmosphere in the restaurant was cozy and warm. The tables were spaced far enough apart that we could converse peacefully. The music was subtle and provided a pleasant background. All in all, a perfect evening full of flavor and comfort.

It's a shame the food isn't halal. But what we ordered (fish and vegetarian) tasted fresh and delicious. They took into account alcohol, halal requirements, and whether it contained gelatin.

We chose this Chinese restaurant based on the many positive reviews and because it was close to our hotel. That day, the center of Amsterdam was extremely crowded due to the city’s 750th anniversary celebration, so we decided to avoid the crowds and dine here instead. Unfortunately, we were quickly disappointed. The sushi arrived in miniature portions, and the rest of the dishes were also very small — more like child-sized portions. Considering the relatively high prices, this was quite unacceptable. To top it off, while we were still eating, the waitress asked us how much longer we would need — even though there was still more than an hour left before closing time. We’ve never experienced anything like that before, and it left a very negative impression. The food itself was mediocre in taste, the portions were far too small, and the overall value for money was poor. Sadly, we cannot recommend this restaurant.

We spent three weeks on vacation in the neighborhood and have been to this restaurant four times, so there's not much more to say. Friendly, always cheerful service, and delicious food! We recommend the maquis surf and the Pringles chips with scallops on top.

I've eaten here a few times now. Fantastic cuisine with shared dining. The food is truly outstanding. So incredibly fresh and the meat so tender. The atmosphere is pleasant and cozy. There's plenty of space here, and it really gives off an exclusive feeling. The service is also top-notch.

We had a great dinner at Mchi IJburg. The atmosphere is stylish but relaxed, and the staff were genuinely friendly and attentive. The main course Garlic shrimps were the highlight—fresh and beautifully presented—and the small plates had a nice mix of flavors. A solid spot for a nice evening out in IJburg.

Nothing special for high price. I'm wondering why people say it's tasty, didn't feel it at all.

The place is nice and luxurious. Plenty of parking. The service was pleasant and efficient, and most important, the sushi was very good. The place is well prepared for people with celiac and we enjoyed our dinner very much. The only (very minor) thing I would change is the ordering form. I would use a tablet, or modify the quantity field. We were 9 people and it was kind of hard to gather the order for all. It will not prevent us from returning for more of this good sushi.

From the moment we walked in, we felt more than welcome. The service was excellent. All the dishes were equally delicious. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Excellent restaurant. The staff are very knowledgeable and professional and the sushi was delicious and well presented. My husband's dish (it wasn't sushi) was also very good. The cute little robot that makes deliveries and sings happy birthday when necessary.

The food is excellent and of the best quality. It is modern Asian cuisine with Chinese and Japanese influences. The service is friendly and helpful, but not intrusive. The restaurant is located just outside Amsterdam, but can be easily reached by tram number 16 from Central Station. On the tram ride you get to know the new residential areas of Amsterdam, which also has its charm.

Delicious fresh sushi, friendly and fast delivery. We really enjoyed the tasty dishes and beautiful presentation. Definitely recommended, we will definitely come back here more often!

We were 4 and did not use the menu but asked the restaurant to put something together for us. It was, in one word, fantastic, what a flavor variation. So here's the tip.

Mchi is het beste sushi restaurant dat ik ken. Ik ben een liefhebber en heb meer dan 40 sushi restaurants in Nederland vergeleken. En deze sushi is gewoon heel veel beter dan alle andere!

We had one night in Amsterdam - we took the 26 from Centraal to dine here. What an excellent choice! Superbly friendly staff (who spoke perfect English, for anyone worried about that), delicious food (the serving of which was perfectly paced), and an overall fantastic dinner experience. I was caught off guard by the sushi show - if it's your first time here you need to have your camera ready!

This is a nice Asian place (serving Japanese , Thai, Korean) in the heart of Ijburg. Their sushi selection is superb and the dishes are presentable. The overall quality of food is above average but there is room for improvement when it comes to preparation of dishes. When it comes to main course options, I suggest introducing more non-fried dishes to offer a wider variety of healthy options. Overall, nice place with a robot tray circling around that gives it that nice surprise element.

1st time here and hands down one of my favorites since moving to Amsterdam. Food is delicious. Service is top notch. Restaurant is beautiful. We got about 9 different things and loved every single one. Definitely recommend and we will be back!

Not the first time we encounter some problems with, initially it was not possible to pay online, requiring only Dutch IDeal or however it is called. Situations with no delivery or late delivery. Food is good to be honest, but the service is terrible, i guess they are taking advantage of no nearby restaurants and low competition

Low rating because there were two mice running around the restaurant. They really need to do something about that! Have enjoyed coming to Mchi for years. Last Friday we had dinner with two friends, we had made a reservation at 8pm. The restaurant quickly emptied and we were almost looked away by the staff. Anyway, it is also IJburg and not the city center.

Had a great time celebrating my granddaughter's birthday on a Monday. Atmosphere quiet and friendly... the little ones were also in their place.

Extensive map. Tasty and varied. Nice staff and they pay close attention and are accessible. The lighting is a bit bright and a lot, but it is very nice and relaxing.

So so sooo delicious!! I enjoyed it again! We always feel super welcome! Truly the tastiest sushi!!

We have eaten here several times and not once did we have anything negative to say. The staff is very friendly and keeps a close eye on things. The tables are spacious and you are not cramped together; very nice to be able to have a conversation with your table companion(s). The food remains of a consistently excellent quality. Yes, it is pricey, but we think the price/quality ratio is absolutely right. As long as Mchi continues to provide this quality, we will continue to come back here. Highly recommended!

We arrived at this restaurant by chance without knowing if it was good or not. We returned out of hunger and curiosity. A very nice discovery. The waitress brings you a menu and a sheet. The concept: choose your dishes, rate them and we will bring them to you for 2 A real treat. It's been ages since I've had such a good meal in an Asian restaurant. Budget a little high (60th for 2) but only quality and fresh products made by dedicated chefs, you just have to know how to eat with chopsticks. Rather warm atmosphere. Explanations in English (we are French and therefore not Dutch). A pure moment of happiness, plus the spectacle on the plates. To do again or to discover with your eyes closed.

Don’t trust the bad reviews- this is an amazing place. We live nearby and have been to Mchi several times already, few times with friends or family who also enjoyed it. One of the best sushi in Ams, also good service.

Delicious food, nice service. Form on which you have to tick what you want to eat (in connection with shared dining? How?) reminded me of All You Can Eat. A bit cheap, but the prices really don't reflect that. I would say do away with it and just write down the order.

Yesterday we had dinner here with mu team. It was a very pleasant experience. The staff was very helpful and friendly. In addition the atmosphere in the restaurant is very cozy. Ik moet glutenvrij eten. Dat is netjes geregeld maar heel erg weinig keuze. Ben je glutenvrij? Verheug je dan niet op de gerechten op de kaart. Veel lekker uitziende gerechten kunnen niet glutenvrij. Advies....Neem alleen de sushi wanneer je coeliakie hebt. Hoofdgerechten (1 vlees 1 vega en 2 vis , was er om te kiezen) niet echt op smaak gebracht. De lekkere saus die erbij hoorde was niet glutenvrij. De sushi was erg lekker en mooi opgediend. Al was de Spicy tuna totaal niet spicy, vermoedelijk de saus weggelaten zonder dat ff te melden. De scoppino was veeel zoeter dan ik ze ken. Ik vond het in verhouding erg duur. 120 euro met 2 personen. Heb de laatste tijd geregeld lekkerder gegeten voor 20 euro minder. Bediening niet onvriendelijk maar ook niet echt attent. Gezellige ambiance. Volgende keer op mijn verjaardag een ander restaurant.

😸 Katzenroboter- Kellner!! Personal war super freundlich. Essen sehr sehr lecker. Dort essen zu gehen, war genau die richtige Entscheidung. Aufgrund des Preises könnte ich dort nicht jede Woche essen gehen, aber es ist auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert.

It’s a fancy place to spend time but if you are hungry and need to really eat, you may feel the portion size too small for the price. Scallops come on pringles! which looks a bit strange but they taste really good!

Heerlijk gegeten met veel lekkere kleine tapas. Ook leuk dat een robot het eten brengt en de borden terugbrengt naar de afwas. Maar vooral: heerlijk gegeten.

The food is a ten! Delicius food with fresh ingredients. Very fast and kind attention know how to solve doubts quickly. In my case I don't speak Dutch and they gave me excellent and personalized attention. The restore in itself is super photograph, full of small details that generate a very warm and thematic atmosphere.

Superb food especially the panna cota which was to die for. First time I had robot service but worked very well.
