Restaurant Scherp, a pearl in the center of Middelburg. We have been visiting this pearl for many years, including last night. The Mart & Dhani team continues to amaze us with the surprising combinations on our plate, in terms of taste, color and presentation! Enjoyed Restaurant Scherp immensely. We had the 7-course menu and with every dish we were surprised by the combinations and the flavors. The accompanying wine arrangement was also great. What delicious dishes, beautifully presented and very tasteful. The staff is also very attentive. For example, the wallpaper in the restaurant is quite special and one of our friends went to have a look and an employee immediately came with a piece of wallpaper to show that it is real wallpaper.

I went to dinner at Scherp today (30-05-2025) with my husband. We enjoyed the 6 course menu with the accompanying wines. Everything was Amazing!!! But my compliments to the chef! But also the rest of the team that was there. I will definitely come back again! And hope that the Mother and Son are there again. Thank you for this beautiful evening

Had dinner here last week with an international business group of 26 people. We had the entire downstairs area of ​​the restaurant at our disposal. Beautifully decorated tables, wonderfully tasty food, beautifully presented plates and fantastic service that unobtrusively kept an eye on where the dietary requirements applied and whether the drinks were sufficient. We had chosen the 6-course menu and that was more than sufficient. I had extra fries added, but in retrospect that was not really necessary. The speeches between courses were excellently coordinated with us by the restaurant, so that everything went smoothly. Recommended!

Op zich goed gegeten maar helaas…sinds de vorige keren blijft het onveranderd: ongeacht hoe laat je aan tafel gaat, halverwege de avond worden de gerechten bij een aantal tafels op hetzelfde moment uitgeserveerd waardoor wij wederom op een bepaald moment erg lang moesten wachten op een volgend gerecht. En €9,50 voor een fles bruiswater van eigen makelij vinden wij wel erg aan de prijs! Ik denk nog steeds dat ik me vergis in de prijs. Is dit echt waar??

The staff were all incredibly friendly and professional, making us feel truly welcome. The only small downside? The wait between some dishes was a bit long. Wat een deceptie. Met een zakenpartner uit Antwerpen hier gegeten. De gastvrouw gedraagt zich als een soort hautaine madam wat de sfeer direct al verziekte. De oesters zijn slecht schoongemaakt. De eend was ronduit taai en niet gaar. Gelukkig kon mijn zakenpartner erom lachen en die vertelde mij ook beter gewend en verwend te zijn in restaurants over de grens die een stuk minder berekenen. Ik zelf kon er moeilijk om lachen. Maar goed het was eens en nooit meer.

We had the 5 course menu, which was more than sufficient. The service was enthusiastic at first, but ended in silence. A bit of a shame, at this level you expect good explanations about the dishes and wines. Nevertheless, recommended! Plus point for the student chefs, who, if they were allowed to bring it, enthusiastically talked about the dish!

We had dinner here with friends last night. What a delight it was for our taste buds. Not only was it delicious, but the staff was very pleasant and certainly contributed to the pleasant atmosphere. We opted for the 7 course including wine package. This could be served in half glasses, otherwise it would be a lot of wine. Every dish was top notch with the wine. It was worth every euro.

Wonderful time in this restaurant’s. Member of JRE jeune restaurateurs is always a quality mark. Very good menu 7 courses with perfect wine pairing. They can find very good wine from across the world like Portugal’s or even Georgia. Cooking is very well dressed and super tasty, they deserve their quotations in Michelin and gault&millau. Very professional staff and some dishes are directly served by the chef. I also liked the options to add products on some dishes like lobster sweat bread or foie gras. They provide high quality local products such as the kingfish and the oosterschelde lobster which is for me one of the best in the world. The restaurant is in 5 houses renovated with great taste and they even offer few rooms to stay overnight. Parking available just in front of the restaurant.

Nice meal, nice location but not for a second time. Price/quality is not in proportion, service is restless/hurried. The story with each course is completed at a rapid pace and by the last sentence they are already on their way to the kitchen, partly due to the poor acoustics it was all difficult to understand. Another downside, English-speaking staff in the service who do not speak or understand a single word of Dutch and there was nothing in English either. Probably no air conditioning in the building, the temperature in the evening was so high that you would like to go outside.

We had a delicious 7 course meal, the wines for each course were also well chosen and not the standard wines. Nice! If we lived in the Netherlands, we would come for dinner more often.

The food was delicious. No warm welcome from the staff upon arrival. Lack of clarity about the 7 courses and little understanding of changes and other wishes. Mistakenly made a double reservation on Friday and Scherp therefore wanted to charge an extra amount of € 300+. Ultimately not having to pay after an unpleasant discussion about the conditions. This did not leave you with a pleasant experience.

We chose this restaurant on the advice of the Michelin guide inspector and we did well because it was magical from start to finish. All the dishes were thoughtful, delicious, refined with a presentation worthy of an artistic photo. I'm not going to describe the 7 dishes we tasted. The menu with descriptions is in photos. The chef visits each table at least once and his very pleasant wife is the maître d'. This is a fantastic team that deserves recognition for their talents and work. Congratulations !

Vegetarian food is too expensive in my opinion

On Wednesday October 25, we celebrated my wife's birthday (October 26) and our 30th wedding anniversary (October 27) in this very beautiful and cozy restaurant. We opted for the 7 course menu, which was excellent, all very beautiful and delicious dishes. With the delicious Gin Tonic and the appetizers I also ordered oysters from the chef, a feast for the eyes but also fantastically good. With the once again super delicious desserts we also received a chocolate written plate with congratulations... very nice. The service was extremely charming... this was the second time we were here and we will definitely return.

Unfortunately a mediocre experience. We ate here a few weeks ago. Had high expectations given the good reviews. Unfortunately it was a disappointment for us. My main reason for this is the price-quality ratio. The restaurant presents itself as an exclusive place, by Middelburg standards this is certainly a fact. I think this restaurant would do a lot less well in the Randstad. The dishes are okay. Not every course is equally well balanced and I also wonder who is responsible for the chosen wines. The service gives exactly the same presentation to every table and when an in-depth question about the wine is asked, there is no answer. In addition, I am surprised that it is recommended to order fries as a side dish with the main course. If you advise this as a restaurant, I think it would be more appropriate to serve this as standard with the dish. In any case, this advice surprises me and in my opinion it does not suit a restaurant of this level. The sanitary facilities in the restaurant are dirty and a disappointment, which again does not suit a restaurant with this appearance. We expected more from a restaurant with this appearance and which charges a decent price for an evening of dining. Hardly any personal attention and service that has little or no understanding of the dishes and wines. Not a second time for us

Excellent 4 course menu. It is an old renovated building with an excellent ambiance. The service was excellent as well as the food and wine. As far as we are concerned, it is close to star level.

Excellent gastronomic experience in the pretty town of Middelburg. The dishes are delicious and prepared with local products, the wine selection is not large but is varied and sophisticated, the service is impeccable, the restaurant is cozy and located in a small street just opposite a parking lot. A magnificent discovery to try without hesitation. The 5-course menu costs €75, which is not expensive for the quality of the food.

The food is magical. Very surprising and diverse. We were also quite full. The middle-aged waitress seemed a bit out of sorts and on her period. This acidity went into the air.

Just wanted to make a reservation. Advice by telephone from Mart was to do this via the site. So I tried to reserve 4 courses, but it didn't work, only 7, 6 and 5 courses were possible. Called again for further explanation and was told by Dani that they were fully booked. After my comment that the site is incorrect, I was treated very unfriendly, we are very busy and have no time for this discussion. Full is full. And my tone was not appreciated by Dani, as I simply did not understand why I had not been able to make a reservation by telephone just now..... Anyway, despite this, I wish you the best of luck with your restaurant. My appetite will not be satisfied by You.

The food was delicious. Not every course was equally refined, but overall it was very good. However, in terms of service, I felt like there was a staff shortage. We already had an appetizer before there was even water on the table, we always had to pour the wine ourselves to have a glass of wine with our course (while the wine was a table away, put it on the table...) and a simple question about wine advice was dismissed as 'you should drink what you like'. Personally, I never appreciate it when you receive an unsolicited mountain of friandises with your coffee for which you also have to pay a considerable amount. After 7 courses including dessert I don't really feel the need for that. It should be an open question. All in all a fine restaurant but not sufficient for the overall ambiance. A little more attention at the table and a smile from the service could ensure a top experience.
