Restaurant Zed in Charlois

Before our performance at Ahoy, we made a reservation. However, upon arrival, we were placed in a corner, and it took a considerable time before someone came to take our order. When we requested a different seat, they were fortunately able to accommodate us. The service was extremely slow, and we found it downright poor. The cuisine wasn't exactly culinary highlight either. Both the appetizer and main course were mediocre, and when we paid, we felt the quality wasn't commensurate with the quality.

We had fish and chips here. Perhaps a bit too much salt on the chips. Otherwise perfect. Wonderfully light batter on the cod, very nice (but rather small) salad on the side. They're more expensive than Simonis in Scheveningen, but the quality in cooking is incomparable. Well worth the extra ten euros. And had I mentioned they have very friendly and attentive staff here? They do! So when you're in Rotterdam, give Zed a try. You won't regret it, especially when you go for the cod and chips.

You can skip Zuidplein mall and find the better vibe at the theatre's . After visiting it for a very well hosted conference, I haven't resisted coming back a few times. We've been lucky to count on the team to help us choose from their rich menu. Everything was delicious. We'll be back soon for what is probably the best food you can find in the area!

We wanted to eat at Lisa's across the street, but they were full. That's how we discovered ZED, and we don't regret it. We had a nice meal on a bench, and the service was friendly. It was getting pleasantly busy. We go there often, and we highly recommend it. It's convenient that there are more good places close together. (The new passage from Goereesestraat also makes it easier to reach.) Oh yeah, you can also ask for ☕ that isn't on the menu, like Spanish coffee.

We wanted to grab a bite to eat before our show at Ahoy. The waitress was very friendly, but the kitchen service was truly terrible. We ordered two fish and chips, and only after about 30 minutes did they tell us the fish was gone. We ordered the tenderloin steak, and about 10 minutes later, we heard it was gone too. We told them we were in a bit of a hurry, and they said they'd tell the kitchen. After an hour and a half, we still hadn't received our food, so we left. They gave us an apology, but nothing more. We didn't even get our two drinks for the time lost. We go to Ahoy often, but we'll never go back here.

There's a woman who works there who is very unfriendly, something I've experienced several times when we're getting drinks during the theater intermission. Unfortunately, she wasn't great with the meal either. But she herself is nice and fits in well with the theater.

We went here for dinner before the show. Our main course had been ordered, and others who arrived later had already received theirs. At one point, we were asked if we wanted the next course. We were a bit confused. No, we'd already ordered. Apparently, something had gone wrong in the kitchen. We were offered a house drink, which was nice, but it turned out it was only allowed to be soft drinks and coffee. The portions were large, and the others had tasty dishes. I had the noodles, but unfortunately, it was more of a soup—lots of sauce and very little noodles. I was debating another dish, as the menu indicated it contained cilantro. I chose the noodles, and unfortunately, it also contained cilantro, which wasn't listed on the menu. All in all, it was fine, but unfortunately, I won't be returning.

I don't get what all the negative reviews are about, the food is fantastic and the service is great.

Lots of predominant capers on carpacchio and bruchetta. Main course fine. Cheeses on a platter tasty, fig bread inedible.Super dry. Fig sauce predominant. Too bad for the taste. Friendly service.

First went to Fatu010 with friends and then had a nice meal in Zed. Start with bread with spreads and a caprese. My table companions had the confit de canard and I had the captain's dinner. It is highly recommended. For dessert we ordered the crème brulee, the chocolate cheesecake and the tartetatin. Those are delicious too

Nice location, friendly staff. Prices way too high. Had ordered Loaded fries. €17.50 for a very small bowl of food in which the shitake and crème fraiche could not be found. According to the kitchen, that would have been in the sauce. You shouldn't offer something like this to a customer at this price. €10 would already have been quite expensive, but this completely misses the mark in terms of price. We were looking for a regular lunch location after swimming, but we skipped this restaurant. Then go to Bart across the street.

Went here to get some food, had to wait an hour to get a portion of fries. Severly understaffed, chaotic.

We wanted to have something to eat before we went to the theater and we indicated that. The food was ready quickly and it looked okay. Unfortunately, the shells were not washed and you notice that right away. I left them too.

I found the staff in particular very friendly. We regularly asked if everything was to your liking and nothing was too much to ask if you needed anything. Nice and spacious. And of course easy if you have to go to the theater afterwards.

Finally nice weather and then you have to wait half an hour for service, which then tells you at 4 p.m. that there is no longer service outside! You were still allowed to collect inside. Ordered inside to take outside, it is said that this is not the intention 🤦🏻‍♀️ in short, apparently they don't want to make money here!

The food here is 'fine' for a quick bite. Ready-made things from Sligro. A burger that has been pre-fried and only needs to be finished cooking. Too bad, because the map suggests that they are doing well. The staff is quite young and somewhat clumsy. Orders can only be given to 1 person, drinks to another. The rotating draft beer of the day was "finished", but everything indicated that the service did not know about the rotating draft beer and had no intention of asking for it. There were empty glasses on the table. When we asked whether these could be taken with us, we were told "I'll take them later", while the person at the table was holding an empty tray. The white wine bottle is simply placed on the table without a cooler. The coffee that is served is not only sour, but is also pushed around on the table so that it gets its feet wet. Half of the coffees are served without friandise, sugar or milk cup. Oh, oh, oh. A good floor manager must sweep through this to do something with the staff. In terms of food, the small kitchen can handle much more than is currently served. Judging by reading the older reviews, that change won't happen anytime soon. But who knows. Maybe the tide will turn...

Nice location and an excellent menu with not too many menus. Fresh fries and salad and an excellent hamburger. The vegetarian version is also delicious. (And a wasp came to eat with us haha) Service came with a saucer of cloves, which wasps find an unpleasant smell.

Very bad and unfriendly service. They said that they have only bitterballen but surprisingly for other tables they brought kaassoufle, kroketten en loempia's. Then we asked why we can’t have them the waitress said you didn’t order 😱no sorry that he misinformed us.

Vlotte bediening en lekker gegeten voor een redelijke prijs. Een aanrader!

It's very average the dessert is not great.

Leuke nieuwe hotspot op Zuid. Orginele multiculturele keuken en een uitgebreide drank kaart. Personeel is misschien een beetje onervaren, maar hun vriendelijkheid en proactieve houding maakt alles goed. En moeten we niet allemaal weer een beetje inkomen na de lockdown. Geef deze plek een kans en je zult zeker niet teleurgesteld zijn.

Vanavond met de meiden in het nieuwe theater Zuidplein gegeten. Restaurant Zed Covid-19-proof ingericht. Personeel erg vriendelijk. Gekozen voor de Shared Dining. Niet lang hoeven wachten op onze bestelling. Wat een leuk concept. Verschillende gerechten die we met z'n drieën konden delen. Super leuk idee. Toetje en koffie er na. Weer een geslaagd avondje weg uit de sleur. Nieuwe theater Zuidplein ziet er fantastisch uit. Zowel de buitenkant als de binnenkant. Mooi groots opgezet. Zeker een vooruitgang voor Rotterdam Zuid. Binnen interieur met een vleugje nostalgie naar het oude theater Zuidplein.
