Croquette, 2 croquette sandwiches, 2 spring rolls, and 3 portions of "patatjes oorlog" (fries with mayonnaise and onions). You get home and you have 3 portions of plain fries. Calling, calling, calling; it is now 8:15 PM and no one is answering. So, this is my complaint.

The food is good, the staff do their best, but the chef/boss is not exactly tactful. He berates his staff in public and speaks audibly rudely about customers. Very strange, and for me, this is the last time I will come here.

Uninterested staff, prefer to be on the phone. Had ordered fries with a snack and a satay with fries. We were the only ones in the place. They had reheated the fries and forgotten to put the rest in the fryer. We asked for our money back and got something else to eat. Will not be coming back here.

Got food poisoning. UNSAFE food. Paid 30+ euros to wait 30 minutes for 3 burgers; okay, prime, it took a bit long, but then we all got cramps at 5 in the morning because we were poisoned, throwing up everything, you name it. Then I sent them an email so they could at least apologize, and got absolutely no response. I don't know if it's due to bad management or a bad branch, but the food is dangerous and I recommend staying FAR away from here.

There was not a single clean table to sit at. We came on wedbesday 26/08/2026 at 17:00, the place was empty with bored employees at the enterance. We came inside and without exaggeration every single table and most chairs had crumbles on them. Some bigger some smaller. But not a single dining table was just clean. My husband asked an employee to clean one table for us to dine, while he was walking away we overheard staff saying ‘well then he can just sit at the other table’. Conversation was in dutch, my husband also spoke dutch to the staff. Noone moved to clean anything, they preffered stand and chat. We just left. Huge dissapointment. We love verhage and always have great experience, but this location while pretty, but horribly mantained. I had a feeling as if some teenagers where left in charge for the summer with no manager around. Now, some teenagers can be very responsible. Todays staff gave 0 effort even when they are clearly bored.

Just grabbing some fries and a burger... not here. We got the feeling the staff were completely done for the day. It was 9 PM by then, but still... we had to wait a super long time.

**⭐ 1 star** Unfortunately, our experience here was very bad. We came here to eat fries, but upon arrival, it was immediately noticeable how dirty and unkempt the outdoor terrace was. The tables were very dirty and covered in food scraps. Underneath and around the tables, there was a lot of trash and empty food packaging simply lying on the ground. In some places, it almost looked as if the ground was being used as a trash can. This gave us absolutely no hygienic or well-maintained impression. In the end, we had to ask for a cloth ourselves and clean our table before we could eat. Subsequently, we had to wait at least another 45 minutes for our food. During our visit, we also overheard an argument between another customer and the owner. The way the owner spoke to this customer came across as very blunt and intimidating to us. Among other things, it was said that there were many customers and that it was very busy, and that the customer could also be kicked out. We found this very unprofessional and unpleasant to witness. Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience for us. The hygiene, the amount of trash on the terrace, the long waiting time, and the way customers were treated were truly substandard in our opinion. In any case, we will not be returning here.

They should close this place down immediately! It's ridiculous how they treat people here! You just get threatened by the “owner” GHETTOOOO a heavily pregnant lady was treated awfully it's just that her son was hungry and she HAD to order. The fries hung over the oil for I don't know how long I got ice-cold fries and I also just had to clean my own table!!! Next time I'm just going to jump over the counter and give that owner a taste of his own medicine rude scum choke on your filthy business

Disgusting food and still waited 30 minutes even though we ordered an hour ago

I have never been treated so disrespectfully as a customer as I was today at Verhage Nesselande. The employee behind the counter was incredibly rude from the start. She spoke in a condescending tone, used remarks like “what then?”, and as soon as I needed a few seconds to think about my order, she raised her eyebrows in irritation. I felt treated as if I deserved absolutely no respect. When I indicated that I found her attitude very rude and unkind, it only got worse. Instead of resolving the situation professionally, she continued to react in the same disrespectful manner. What I found most shocking was the owner's reaction. Without asking once what had happened or listening to both sides of the story, he immediately sided with his employee and began addressing me in a rude manner as well. His remark, “Madam, we might as well close the place down if you keep this up,” made absolutely no sense, especially since he hadn't even witnessed the entire incident. The only reason I didn't walk away was because my children were with me and were hungry. Otherwise, I would have left the place immediately. Respect for customers seems to be hard to find here. If this is how Verhage Nesselande treats paying customers, then I never need to come back here again. An apology and a serious internal evaluation seem more than appropriate here.

Ridiculous, the customer is always king apparently never heard of that, disrespectful, and if you as a customer point out that they aren't customer-friendly, the staff threatens to close the place. I'd say go ahead, think it wouldn't take long.

What a terrible place, staff not focused on their work, come home to find everything forgotten, but you still got paid.

I have never seen such a filthy Verhage, and then eating 2 snacks in the place itself, slathering sauce on them, and still managing to ruin it, how is that even possible? The onion and the inside of my bear claw were still raw… but the place was so gross, really bizarre.

Every table looks like this, gross! As you can see, I have to squeeze into the corner of the table just so I can eat at all. It is scandalous. I understand that the weather is nice and it is busy, but the staff should just check around every fifteen minutes. It is a restaurant!! There is food, paper, and even bread on the floor everywhere.

Such a shame, the place isn't clean, dirty floor, windows, dirty toilet, no toilet paper for the ladies, food could only be taken away at half past six, the satay was sold out, it has gone downhill really badly in a year's time. Ensure good management and things will be fine again.

Ordered food and was told that the oil still needed to heat up, which would take 10-15 minutes. After 45 minutes, I went to ask how much longer it would take, and I was told it was going into the fryer now. In the meantime, several other customers were already waiting for their food. After an hour, I still hadn't received my food, but the other customers had. I went to inquire about it, and I was told it would be ready in 2 minutes. I indicated that I don't think it's normal to have to wait an hour for one portion of fries and a snack. This isn't the first time the service has been this bad! I asked for my money back because there was no apology or compensation. I only received that after having to argue. Terrible service.

Terrible, it takes a very long time before you are served and then you have to wait a long time for your food. Their food makes you sick.

The ice cream here is fine in terms of taste. Unfortunately, just getting a nice ice cream for the kids today. Nice, you would think. Sorry folks, but the ice cream scoop here is so small that I was embarrassed in front of my children. For the price, you just expect a decent ice cream...

Went here yesterday. We just had to wait 40 minutes for the kids' menus, the iced coffee, and the ice cream. Nothing was said about the long wait. So we thought it was taking an agonizingly long time. Finally it arrived. No mayonnaise with the menu; no, you had to pay extra for that. Okay, done... The fries were hot, but looked like they'd been fried twice. Without salt... mayonnaise was definitely needed... because even then it wasn't tasty. The iced coffee was reasonably good, but I've had much better ones elsewhere. It cost 29 euros for 2 kids' menus, iced coffee, and an ice cream. I think that's quite expensive for fries that aren't tasty, salty, and then having to wait 40 minutes for them. Never going here for food again. I'll go to McDonald's next time after a day at the beach.

Ate here tonight. This wasn't just bad, but very bad. Staff who don't know what to do, completely out of sync. It was quite quiet. Had to wait 30 minutes for food, then it arrived without drinks, without cutlery, without mayonnaise. Half of it had already cooled down. Staff not very friendly, curt. It will be a long time before I come here again.

Had to wait a very long time for the food; subsequently, the frozen Carpaccio was simply placed on the grill so it would thaw faster... Carpaccio is supposed to be a bit pinkish-red, but this was just brown (see photo). So it was also really mega dry. The other sandwich with Carpaccio was also hot and brown inside. The coffee also took 20 minutes to prepare, and the food took 45 minutes. For 2 Carpaccio sandwiches. The service was truly terrible and slow; it really needs to be managed. Filed a complaint and we got a super cheeky girl. No refund, unfortunately. Further down, 2 other women were waiting a very long time for their sandwich and 2 coffees; they received no cutlery and the sandwich was barely topped. So, not recommended.

It is ridiculous how you are spoken to and then have to wait 45 minutes for your food. The place is run by teenagers who don't have things in order.

What a worthless place, they will never see me here again. Had to wait over 40 minutes for an order, which was brought to the table with sighs and groans. Received a beef croquette instead of the chicken satay croquette I ordered. Received half a cutlery set (only a knife), but the fork was not brought later. I ended up going to get it myself after 5 minutes. Uninterested staff. Terribly filthy toilet.

I wish i could rate them 0 stars because I wouldve done if i could, the seat options are poorly because they dont clean after clients so you have to sit next to the toilets.. where there is a teribble smell coming from. If you decide to get a portion of loaded fries expect to get 3 small bits of chicken and lots of fries. The fresh lemonade doesnt even look like the one and the menu. Overall very bad

Very disappointing experience. The quality of the food was far below what you’d expect. The hamburger was terrible, one of the worst I’ve had. And both the service and the atmosphere were poor. Definitely not worth the money.

I always spoke very highly of Verhage (Nesselande). An apparently respectable establishment, too. Nothing could be further from the truth. The toilets and children's play area are truly filthy beyond words. There is often a long wait, regardless of how busy it is. Only 3 pieces of chicken in a large chicken salad, and only 3 pieces of chicken in a specialty of the moment as well. It is completely unacceptable.

We received a flyer from Verhage with a special offer and lower prices, which made my son very excited, so we decided to stop by. Unfortunately, upon arrival, we were told that the prices had since been raised, whereas the advertisement clearly stated the prices and not percentages. Also, the omelette looked nothing like the photo in the advertisement: two pieces of bread with a thin slice of salmon and an egg on top, without sauce or salad. The staff probably can't help this, but a company shouldn't advertise something that is subsequently not delivered. Very disappointing.

I see a lot of negative reviews, but my experience was different. I had a loaded fries which wasn't immediately hot or warm, but it was tasty; I really enjoyed it, and the chicken bucket was delicious and we received good service.

This place has MICE!! We went to eat at the restaurant here, but the service was very bad. We asked if the table could be cleared, but they said they were busy. Additionally, they forgot the napkins and our drinks. While we were eating, I saw a lady take off her slipper and kill a mouse in the restaurant! Afterwards, that lady indicated that there was a dead mouse on the floor. We only sat there for half an hour, partly because we were looking out at a dead mouse and no one came to clean it up. Terrible! I am never coming here again!

Went to this Verhage for the first time. Unfortunately, not recommended. It took a very long time before we got our food. The burgers were fine, but the fries were lukewarm. Yuck. We didn't ask for a new one because it was taking so long. It is a nice place to sit, but because of the open upper floor, you can hear the screaming from the children's parties very clearly. Understandable in itself in a venue like this, but we haven't experienced it as bad as it was here.

Surprisingly, it looks neater than the Verhage in the city. Only had a cup of coffee and tea.

Great place with a wide selection of snacks and dishes. Don't expect extensive service. It's still a place for a simple, easy meal. Downstairs, the food is fine. Upstairs, there are lots of young people without supervision or correction.

Upscale snack bar, offering simple snacks as well as more luxurious set menus and healthy sandwiches. A great place to grab a bite to eat, with a pleasant atmosphere and a children's playground upstairs.

Very disappointing. The order arrived with incredibly long hair. I returned it, and the group leader gave me a disapproving look because I asked for a refund. The service itself is fine, but putting my hair in a ponytail or hairnet wouldn't be a bad idea.

I ordered at the cash register and had to wait fifteen minutes, even though it wasn't busy. I went to the register to ask about the status, stood there for two minutes, was ignored, and then my order was made (it had already been waiting in the frying baskets). I went home (a four-minute bike ride), only to have to devour cold food. I see room for improvement.

The only vegan option is the spring roll with fries and ketchup. The restrooms (upstairs) are always filthy, partly because they're next to the children's play area.

The service is really low. We ordered a kip burger and sparibs and 2 drinks. The food has low quality but the service is worse! They brought the food first and after 15 20 mins when we asked for the second time where are our drinks they said we will make them now! Even though they accepted the drink order as peach lemonate but they said we dont have peach and at the end they changed to another drinks. The cuatomer service experience is really bad please fix it to save your business!

I waited for over half an hour, but finally went inside to ask where the food was, and was told they were busy. After waiting a while longer, it finally arrived. I joked beforehand and said, "Watch out, something's probably missing..." and sure enough, we didn't get the drinks, so I could go back inside. I really wonder why only inexperienced teenagers work at all the Verhagen branches these days. I used to enjoy going there, but I'll never go to Verhagen again.

I got fries today. A young man and a young girl of Dutch descent were behind the counter. It was incredibly child-unfriendly: they didn't even greet me, and I was given a sullen look as if they wanted to chase me out. This was the first and last time.

We went to eat and it took way too long, we understood it, but that long for 1 portion of fries is not acceptable. When we got them, it seemed like frozen fries that had been put in the microwave for 5 minutes, very bad, the owner should be ashamed of himself.

We waited over half an hour for two fries and two snacks. Meanwhile, we were served by people we knew after us. The spring roll wasn't cooked through. The chicken was still frozen solid. And it wasn't that busy. Absolutely no coordination in the preparation and serving.

If you order a salad with tuna, you pay €4+ for some extra tuna. And that's all you get. If you order a "nice" refreshing drink, you get a splash of water with syrup... they indicated that the picture also contained orange, and then they just tossed it in. Bad experience, I will NEVER come back here again.

I ordered a halal burger menu here, but this is honestly the worst burger I've ever had. Not fresh at all and completely flavorless. Everything here is just awful.

I ordered two scoops of ice cream. They were so small that I even complained. Apparently, this was normal. Certainly not normal at other locations.

I went to Verhage Nesselande today and ordered a salad with extra chicken. To my surprise, I received a salad with no sauce and only a small piece of chicken, even though I paid extra for it. On top of that, the staff was grumpy. I understand it was busy because of the nice weather, but if you can't handle that, it might be time to consider other work. Very disappointing!

All the negative reviews here are justified. This café is not worth a cent. The staff is walking around aimlessly, while half of the tables in the hall are still full of dirty plates and stains. The terrace is not cleaned at all. There are paper napkins on the floor and there is sand in the toilet. The staff prepares the food with their bare hands, without any protection or gloves. The open kitchen is dirty - you don't even want to imagine what it looks like in the closed kitchen. The dishes are dirty, as if they were cleaned without detergent. The hygiene is clearly below standard. I definitely do not recommend this café - you can get seriously ill from it.

Unfortunately it all took way too long for our food to arrive. Somewhat understandable on a hot day. The crowd didn't appeal to me.

One star is too much for what they have! You want to eat something, to continue your day in peace but, you can’t with places like this. I was asking six times for a new fork because every time, the fork was greasy or/and dirty. Every time they bring me a new one with the same problem. They even try to convince that a brown leftover is not visible by them. Even after they scratched it. 🤮🤢🤮🤢 They offered me a plastic fork but I didn’t came to a “restaurant” to eat with plastic. I don’t need microplastics inside of me only because they are unprofessional and lazy. In the end, I was washing myself one. The “manager” doesn’t have any affinity with the position because instead of saying “sorry” and to solve the problem, he shout at me that I should wash the fork at the toilet. Zero communication skills and diplomacy. Instead he consider that is the best to tell me “Enjoy your meal!” after he didn’t found any arguments. Why he is rude? He should lead the people. From all the stuff, four people at that moment, only one girl was wearing a glove(not two), the rest didn’t hear about something like this, even if, at least two was preparing the food. About the food… They put the paper with the sauce inside of the salads. The burgers are made on microwave and the person who’s making the food can serve it also, so, their hands will be dirty. Also, the food didn’t pass the toilet test. Also, the place where you can eat outside it’s dirty. The tables didn’t see any wipe in days. The chairs are often pooped on by birds, but nobody cares. I was here before, and the last time when I was, nobody was wearing gloves at the gelato when they were serving. Also, they touched money(on of the dirtiest things) and the gelato with the same hands. Also, the guy misunderstood my order 3 times(it was a chance to be more, but I give up when I see that he is on another planet). Maybe he was high. In the end, I spend more than 30 euros for dirty stuff, unpleasant vibe and people who feel entitled to give you unprofessional services in the kitchen.

Yesterday we went to the beach again to get fries etc. to eat on the beach. Yes, it was busy. But there was enough staff. Too bad none of them knew what they were doing. They were more often not behind the counter than there. What an uncontrolled mess! Waiting almost an hour for 3 fries and some snacks. Which by the way had been fried for more than 15 minutes in the basket above the fryer. The fries had also been there for more than 20 minutes and new ones were added every time. So if you were unlucky, you got the old fries. Next to the fryer was a container with incorrectly fried snacks. A (I think Moroccan lady) is walking behind the counter, looking for a snack. She can't find her order and decides to take the snack from the container next to the fryer with old cold snacks and simply gives it to a customer. And then the toilets: I have never seen anything so filthy. And when you report it, they do absolutely nothing about it. Then I get broken bitterballen, cold snacks and cold fries. Not really worth your money. And then the ladies who are preparing your salad with jewelry and fake nails. Time for them to get a check

Weird... disorganized mess, orders wrong, people asking for their money back because they're fed up with waiting after 45 minutes, claiming something wasn't on the receipt, grabbing the receipt and hey... it's there, tables dirty and full of trash...

I am not going to write here as a new customer, but I come back regularly to see if there is any improvement in this snack bar. Unfortunately, that is not the case. The filthy hygiene and poor cleaning persist, despite the fact that I have noticed this before. The food and service also remain substandard and it seems as if no improvement is being pursued. This is very disappointing and unacceptable for a catering establishment where you come regularly.

Despite the many bad reviews, we had dinner here and it was not too bad.

I come here three weeks ago with my husband, a very friendly girl helps us. I'm guessing the owner will walk in, someone with a Moroccan appearance. But this man had zero respect for the staff. He says to the girl who helped us very well, no, it has to be like this, no like this, and he asks her “can you do something?” I thought what is happening here, the girl behind the counter helps us and in the end we had a delicious meal. But how this man treats the staff is downright disrespectful! The rest of the staff was very friendly. But purely for this owner I will not come back

Too bad you can't choose 0 stars. This company has completely lost sight of reality and seriously dares to charge more than 2 euros for ice cream the size of a marble. Really boycott this company. The saleswoman accepts the criticism with a grin 😫

This tent completely misses the point. Ordered 2 cheeseburgers. Both burgers were very raw on the inside. Very nice if you have already taken a bite of it. Too disgusting to mention. Once and never again. Perhaps invest in a griddle to fry burgers on instead of putting everything in the microwave. Worth less than 1 star. Owner should be ashamed of himself.

I ate here the day before yesterday, the food was delicious but the staff was very rude. I asked if they could clean our dirty table and the blonde girl responded with "we are really busy at the moment, I can clean your table if I have time." Very strange, I had to wait an hour for my food.

The music is always way too loud, the type of music does not suit the type of business. Toilets are always dirty. Eating in the store is fine when it is quiet, but if you take it away it is often lukewarm. The staff is okay.

I think I disturbed the blonde child behind the cash register by being busy doing nothing. Friendliness is hard to find here. Tip for the owner: employ staff who know how the catering industry works. They are the face of your company. Set your priorities. I really don't understand it. I don't come that often, but when I do I am always amazed at what works here (and certainly not in the positive sense of the word). The only plus was the girl (brunette) who gave me the food, she was friendly. Put her behind the cash register and that blonde at the dishes.

We had dinner at Verhage Nesselande today. The bami disk was mediocre in taste and fat, the frikandel special had little mayo and ketchup added. The onion was enough. We were also not given any cutlery. It was difficult to find a plastic fork and a napkin myself. The remains of departed guests remain on the tables for a long time, which is not an appetizing sight. In the future we will go to Zevenhuizen.

Hugely disappointed. While we once enjoyed fries at this Verhage, the quality and atmosphere of the store is currently below par. Tables are dirty and there is food everywhere. The service consists of children who you can't even blame for such shoddy work being done considering what you pay. Fresh fries are delivered that I wouldn't even feed to a dog and then one of the servers argues with me about why the machine makes the fries that way. The milkshake that only tastes like chocolate: another server gives me a look of what are you doing? Fortunately, the female server helped me well. We will still have a soft ice cream here, but we will never eat anything here again. A real shame for such a prime location with all the possibilities.

I love everything about this place, good food at good prices, lovely atmosphere, music is on in the background but not too loud so we could actually have a conversation.
