Very tasty pizzas, good price, friendly and young staff. It is a shame that they state beforehand that you have 2 hours to eat. Especially on a Wednesday when it is not busy at all (read: very quiet). That really doesn't come across as very friendly and welcoming.

For several years now, we have been coming to Novecento for the mentor evening of the Haarlem Introduction Week. This year, too, we had the pleasure of dining at Novecento with a group of nearly 80 mentors. The communication beforehand was incredibly pleasant, and they really thought along with us. On the evening itself, everything was also super well organized, fast, and smooth. Despite the large group, the service was top-notch, and we were all able to enjoy a fun and delicious evening. We are once again extremely satisfied and look back on a successful mentor evening. Thank you for the great cooperation and good service!

The chairs are dark brown and made of wood, but unfortunately, they are very narrow and not really comfortable. That is a shame, especially if you want to enjoy your meal for a longer period. Perhaps it would be a good idea to invest in wider and more comfortable chairs in the future. That would certainly improve the experience in the restaurant. Unfortunately, no halal minced beef or chicken was available. As a result, the choice for guests eating halal was limited to a vegetarian dish or fish. It would be nice if more halal meat options were offered in the future.

Surprising small dishes, which were truly delicious. We had a wonderful meal. And the service was very attentive.

Food was great. Two of the service ladies were quite slow, seemed to lack motivation and not as attentive as one would expect, despite not being really busy. Overall, I would still visit again as the pasta and pizza were really good and they even used some organic ingredients, which is a big plus 🌱

Upon entering, you are first ignored for fifteen minutes, and no one seems to pay attention; no eye contact or attention, nothing. Then you order, and the food takes 40 minutes, probably because all takeaway orders take priority, and this is on a Tuesday evening with the restaurant perhaps a quarter full. The pizza was bone dry with a cardboard crust, and the pasta was cheap spaghetti with raw onion. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this. I would advise the owner to take ownership a bit more and put heart into the business.

We had a delicious meal. It had been about 10 years since we were last here, and I have good memories from that time, so I decided to visit you again as a surprise. It was exactly as I had hoped; the food was delicious, just like the antipasti to share as a starter. And the service was super friendly; we wanted for nothing. Thank you and keep up the good work, team!

I had Malazane, but it was mostly just a lot of cheese. Too bad I hardly tasted any eggplant. Otherwise, the food was good for a reasonable price. And the service was good too.

Just ate a pizza quattro formaggi. They are absolutely not stingy with the cheese; there was plenty of it and it was good. However, the middle of the pizza was completely raw on the bottom. Because of that, it even made me feel nauseous and I couldn't enjoy eating it. It's a real shame, because the cheese was fine, but a raw crust unfortunately makes the pizza really not great for me.

We had a truly delicious meal! For this price/quality, we haven't eaten this well in ages. We will be back very soon!

Food was nice and tasty and they serve great appetizers (especially the Bruschetta). Food came quickly and the server was quite friendly. Though our experience wasn't without flaw... They did not take in account that I was with someone that was using crutches and the one in charge of the front of the house also did not care about it very much (clearly visible that someone was using crutches but did not care to ask or help with it). We were allowed to choose whether we wanted to sit outside or not but there weren't any places outside that were crutches friendly (only very high chairs), despite that they still told us we could sit there but we decided not to. After that the women did not even take time to properly seat us somewhere else and we were both left at an already which was apparently closed off for some reason. Took matters into my own hands and asked for crutch friendly seats, was directed to a table for two at the other end of the restaurant, what a friendly choice that was. I have been to this place before and I have never experienced something like this here, sad to see that someone clearly doesn't like here job and won't care about her customers.

Was great. Amazing pizza and water. Decent Pepsi (they don’t have Coca Cola) The service was nice, but the server came instantly while my girl was still finishing her food, to take all our plates off the table.

If someone from Sicily says the pizzas are very tasty, then they really are tasty. Besides the 'standard' pizzas, there are also surprising pizzas that you don't see on every menu. All very affordable too. Do put the beers a bit colder (: Still the same rating. Beers are colder now. Tasty.

The food was excellent, but the service was poor, with long waits and the need to call the staff myself every time. The atmosphere was very busy, and the acoustics in the room were not good.

I ordered a Pizza Salmone. According to the menu, this was supposed to be made with smoked salmon. My pizza had baked salmon instead of smoked salmon. Combined with the spinach, this made the pizza very tasteless. It is a shame that what is delivered is different from what was advertised. I did have good meals there on previous occasions.

I went to Milow for the first time with my two daughters, aged 6 and 9. They loved it. We sat in row 4 and they actually didn't need the booster seats. One minor downside: it said there would be an intermission. We prepared our girls for this, but the break never came. Understandable, of course, but they really wanted something to drink haha. We had a lovely glass afterwards. A super experience.

Good Italian food with a wide selection of pizzas, pastas, and everything in between. Friendly service, with staff stopping by regularly to check if everything is to our liking. The desserts were also delicious, not too rich, and elegant as well.

Great location and good atmosphere. Main courses good. We wouldn't recommend the desserts. Tiramisu okay, served with vanilla sauce, something I haven't seen before. Portion size average. Not for big eaters. The pistachio yogurt ice cream was so hard that you couldn't eat it. We pointed this out politely, but the solution was somewhat unfriendly. Service was always better and more attentive.

I have been coming here for 21 years to my satisfaction. However, yesterday we were not treated politely. We were told that there was no time left to order dessert. When I went to pay the manager (a young girl), she asked: "Did you all make it?" I replied that we were short on time and that it was a shame. She immediately said in a sharp tone: "We had already made that very clear beforehand. And the group that was waiting for you has already left anyway." I consider this the opposite of an apology. It even seems as if the blame for that other group was placed on us, while they clearly plan too tightly. Very disappointing and a reason not to come here anymore after all these years. Although the manager was very sharp and rude, I noticed that the (also young) staff found it difficult to indicate that we had to leave, though they did offer their apologies politely.

Novecento has been a household name for years, and for good reason. They consistently deliver the same high quality and warm atmosphere – and that's truly special. From the moment you walk in, you feel the hospitality. The service is friendly, professional, and genuinely engaged. The team knows exactly how to pamper you all evening without it feeling forced. The food is, as always, top-notch. Beautifully presented plates, pure flavors, and dishes prepared with craftsmanship. You can taste the passion and experience in everything that comes out of the kitchen. It's clear why so many people keep coming back. Novecento has proven for years that quality, atmosphere, and service can go hand in hand. Highly recommended, and in our opinion, still the place for a fantastic night out.

The food is delicious, but the acoustics are absolutely terrible. You can barely hear each other, and the tables, especially at the front, are too close together.

"EXTREMELY ANTI-SOCIAL SERVICE" We made a reservation to dine here with a group of friends on February 14, 2026. This was our first time here. First, we had to wait 30 minutes before being seated. After these 30 minutes, we were allowed to sit down at 6:30, and were immediately told in an extremely rude tone that we had the table until 7:45. Because of this rude tone and the unrealistic time, we thought it was a joke. After waiting 30 minutes for my food, and while I was still eating, a server came and literally threw the receipt on the table, saying our time was up and we had to pay. I hadn't even finished my food, though... I asked for clarification, after which a smart-alecky girl came over and literally said, "I've told you, you have to leave." We didn't have dessert, nor were we able to have it, and we had to eat in a hurry because this restaurant clearly doesn't have proper planning. Instead of apologies, you can only expect smart-alecky remarks from this restaurant that are not only antisocial but also terribly sarcastic. This was the first and last time I'll ever visit this restaurant. For a personal explanation, I'm willing to speak with the restaurant owner to discuss this incident.

Had a reservation for 6:15 PM on a Saturday evening for 6 people. We made a reservation well in advance because we were a large group. Our table was ready at 6:30 PM, and we were told we had it until 7:45 PM.... I honestly thought it was a joke. We ordered a bottle of wine, an appetizer, and a main course. It took a really long time for our food to arrive; it was almost 7:30 PM. No problem for us, because we were having a good time. At 8:00 PM, we were still eating quietly when the bill suddenly appeared. Huh? When we asked what was going on, we got a very smart answer. "I told you so," she said very smartly. In my opinion, this could have been handled differently: "I'm sorry, it's so busy. I unfortunately need your table. Your last drink is on us. My sincere apologies." Something like that??? But no, we got: "I told you so?!..." Big child. If I'd known I only had an hour to eat with six people, I would NEVER have made this reservation. They clearly planned the evening wrong, and we were the ones to suffer. I think it's outrageous to be turned away like that when you've just made a reservation for a night out. We got dessert elsewhere! I definitely won't be coming here again.

We ordered our food and it took over an hour to arrive. We found a 5-cent coin in one of the dishes. When we told the waitress, she laughed as if it were nothing. They finally replaced the dish, taking ages, and charged us for it. Honestly, it leaves a lot to be desired.

The pizzas were delicious, the pasta was disappointing. The lighting policy could be much better, though; the lights were quite harsh.

Our servers were really great. The bread and arancini were great. I was hopeful, but the pasta was overcooked and had no taste. I was really hoping for a good Italian meal but left very disappointed. I won't being going baxk,

The pizza espagnol was nothing special. The artichoke was tough and the pizza was otherwise quite greasy. However, it was affordable. The prawn pasta, on the other hand, was exceptionally tasty. That is why 4 stars.

It's good, it's plenty busy. Service is good, the staff is very friendly and makes sure you have a wonderful evening. They even keep an eye on you to see if you want another drink. Update October 26, 2025 The food was quite good. The pizza crust was very soft, and they put a lot of arugula on it. When I commented on that, they said, "That's how we always make them..." We last ate here a year ago, and it was perfect then. The service was good. They were understaffed, and you could tell right away. It does make me doubt whether I'll come back here again anytime soon...

A great restaurant for a reasonable price. The food quality is okay, nothing special, but it's tasty. The price is definitely reasonable. The Dante Inferno pizza was also deliciously spicy and well-topped.

October 9, 2025, visit to Haarlem. Referred to the best Italian restaurant in Haarlem via the website. Ordered Bistecca con Gorgonzola (min. rare), but it was served almost raw. Ordered Tonno alla Casalinga (min. rare), it was served well-done. Total bill: €76.60 Had to (tempt) the waiter to ask if the Bistecca was still being served. Free coffee or tea as a bonus!

Great food. It's a bit noisy when people come in and talk loudly, but the atmosphere does change. But it's worth the food. Friendly staff.

We had a delicious meal, the spaghetti pistachio was something different from the usual and very tasty.

The restaurant appears a bit small from the front, but it extends deep into the back. Good value for money, tasty dishes. The service could be a bit faster.

What a find this place is. Just a touch off the beaten track, mouthwatering pizzas with fresh tomato sauce, delicious pestos and breads and wine perfect for sharing. All in belly rubbing portions. Might even come again on our 3 day trip.

Unfortunately, disappointing – this has little to do with Italian cuisine. Spaghetti with pesto: The spaghetti had burst before cooking and was completely flavorless – you'd expect much more from a simple yet classic dish like this. Parmigiana: Unfortunately, it tasted like a frozen convenience food – and that would have been a better option in this case. Lasagna: By far the worst I've ever eaten. Watery, barely seasoned, with no discernible structure or depth of flavor. Conclusion: Please don't call this Italian cuisine if you don't know the basics of Italian cooking. It's a shame – a lot of potential was wasted here.

Only had a takeaway, but the place seemed to have a nice youthful vibe. Service was pleasant enough, would have been nice to have been offered somewhere to sit down whilst waiting. Had a pizza which was pretty disappointing, the base was like it hadn’t risen, so just a crispy flatbread with toppings. but maybe that’s the style? Not my style anyway

I thought I'd have a nice meal at my pizza place. Such good memories. Delicious old-fashioned pizza with a rounded edge and a glass of wine. I was shocked at what I got. A pancake with filling. A real pancake! I had a carafe of wine for 21.50 euros. So 43.00 euros per bottle. Scandalous. For a pizza place that can't be called a pizza place. People, a pizza on the corner is not a pancake but has a rounded edge. And is a lot cheaper. In other words, never go to that hollowed-out so-called pizza place. Terrible.👎😡

The place is charming and has an indoor terrace. I enjoyed the food. I ordered some shrimp, which was fresh and the sauce was very flavorful. The noodles were perfectly cooked.

Italian feel-good restaurant with taste, heart and quality The Ristorante Novecento in Haarlem was a real stroke of luck for us - just a few minutes' walk from our hotel and rather reserved on the outside, a wonderful surprise awaits you inside: authentic Italian cuisine, attentive service and a welcoming, family atmosphere. The menu is exemplary - you rarely see it so clear and well thought out: gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options are clearly marked, which makes the selection very pleasant. Even allergy sufferers or people with special dietary requirements can easily find something suitable here. What's particularly nice is that the dishes are creative, but still classic enough to delight the Italian heart. We opted for the vegetarian appetizer platter – the burrata was outstanding! There was also a calzone and a pizza with avocado and fried onions - an unusual but extremely tasty combination. The pizza dough was exceptionally good: perfectly baked, crispy on the outside, airy on the inside - you can taste that the work here is done with know-how and passion. Further advantages from our experience: • Very friendly and warm service, attentive without being intrusive • Fresh, high-quality ingredients that come into their own in every dish • Really good value for money – quality at fair prices • Atmospheric, cozy atmosphere that is ideal for a relaxed evening • Also suitable for families or groups with different preferences (thanks to the versatile menu) The only small note: at peak times it can get a little more crowded and lively - but for us this only added to the atmosphere. Conclusion: If you are looking for honest, fresh Italian cuisine in Haarlem - with particular attention to different dietary requirements - you should definitely stop by Novecento. For us it was one of the culinary highlights of our stay!

Went in with two young kids as this place had a fairly decent rating. very disappointing though - outdated (roughly cut raw onions and tomatoes as garnish..?), mediocre food (under seasoned, old school, boring) - something you’d expect in a remote village but not in the center of Haarlem. Sadly, the food wasn’t the only mediocre experience, service was hardly existing. When asking for a glass of tap water for our boys we were told we could only get that if we need it to take some medication otherwise we have to buy still water. So we did - sadly it never arrived - but we were charged for it. Of course had the receipt amended and didn’t pay for it eventually but all in all a very disappointing experience. Sewage smell in the area between the wc and outdoor patio. Won’t be coming again.

This time, instead of eating out at this restaurant (definitely do it!), I opted for delivery. Bruschetta, Spaghetti Bolognese, Ravioli, Pizza Salami and Pizza Margherita (Sijtze didn't think his pizza was really warm, which was also the case with the other dishes). Also two desserts, Tiramisu and Heavenly Mud. - Delicious!

Tasty food and not too expensive. Pizza or pasta is always good! They are also large portions, so you certainly won't go home hungry!

Still a great pizza restaurant with good food for a good price. Tip: take the calzone bon gustao. The place is narrow at the front and that is where we find it most comfortable to sit. There is more space in the back where we also had dinner with the family at a large table. You can look right into the kitchen, nice.

We verheugden ons er op. Na een wandeltocht door In Kerstsfeer gehuld Haarlem dachten we even lekker uitrusten en wat eten. Het eten was prima , maar wij nemen NOOIT meer genoegen met de 2 persoonstafeltjes die langs de muur staan. De hoge stoeltjes hebben het zitvlak voor kleine kinderen van nog geen 30 bij 30 cm waar je constant dreigt af te vallen. Mijn ongenoegen bij het afrekenen kenbaar gemaakt …. Had niet de indruk dat het enige indruk maakte 🤢 gewoon een waardeloze ervaring die Novecento voor een paar centen kan oplossen !!! NIET DOEN DUS !!!

Student pizzeria tasty and good price

The atmosphere in the restaurant is good. The staff is friendly and the food prices are affordable. Unfortunately, the food was not special or tasty enough to go back a second time. The pasta comes from a package. Nothing tasted 100% fresh/homemade. Everything tasted like a disappointment because nothing was worth coming back for again.

Had dinner here on Monday evening with five people. Main courses are delicious and more than enough, just to be sure, 2 portions of fries were added, which were also wonderfully crispy and tasted good. Dessert was also delicious and also attention to my son's birthday. Service was also friendly and attentive. In short, delicious Italian for a reasonable price and very cozy. The only downside I would mention is the small tables and the terrible cold when you enter the toilet, an extra heating would be welcome there.
