Very nice service, the girls were really friendly and explained the recommendations very well. We liked most were the pork tacos.

Everything was amazing.... perfect balance of flavors. Highly recommend the tavos de suadero and the rompope bread pudding!

As a mother of a daughter with Celiac , finding a restaurant where almost the entire menu is completely gluten-free (with just two exceptions!) is an absolute dream come true. Risario in Amsterdam delivers an incredible dining experience without any of the usual stress. The food was absolutely delicious, full of flavor, and made us feel totally safe regarding cross-contamination. If you are looking for amazing food in Amsterdam and want a worry-free gluten-free experience, this place is a must-visit. We will definitely be back.

Unfortunately, the staff was anything but hospitable. When we wanted to sit on the terrace at nearly 10:00 PM, a waitress indicated that this was only allowed if we also ordered something to eat. Given the small terrace, we could understand that, despite the late hour. Therefore, we immediately ordered tacos with our first drinks, with the idea of ​​ordering drinks and food again in a subsequent round. Before we even got that chance, the waitress came back. She said in a far from friendly tone that she could process our order, but that we had to leave in fifteen minutes, in a not very friendly manner. A shame! -July 25

Ordered two drinks and tacos at 9:45 PM. We were told that we were only available until 10:00 PM and that after that it was for people who wanted to eat more. That was exactly what we were planning to do… Not very hospitable.

What a wonderful experience at this restaurant on Tweede Egelantiersdwarsstraat. Everything was perfect down to the last detail. The food was truly delicious and beautifully presented. The tacos on the blue corn tortillas, in particular, were a real surprise for my taste buds. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the drinks are served beautifully, with an eye for detail such as the slice of lime in the glass. I will definitely be back here soon for another round.

So good to be back, amazing margaritas, food and service as always. We split the hummus which is so good and I had the cauliflower tacos and my SO the beef brisket ones with bone marrow. Smoky margaritas are so good too! And bread pudding for dessert, it went too fast to take pix 😋

Overall the experience was okay. They forgot my drink, the food was fine. The sea bass appetizer was unnecessarily extremely spicy. My partner couldn't eat it at all. I can handle it bc I enjoy spicy but it was way too spicy to make out the flavors. The dishes felt unbalanced. Also be prepared they charge for water.

This place is the really authentic Mexican with delicious food from Yucatan and all over the country of Mexico. We went for the set menu of 50 EUR which I think is really good perfect volume without being too full.. You just get what the chef prepares for you: it started with a crudo, the a vegetarian dish, then tacos then quesadillas and some other dishes I forget but it was really delicious!! Margaritas were good but not very strong.. Other than that it was really great 😊

The meals are microscopic, have no flavour, and are disgusting. The restaurant calling itself a Mexican restaurant is a shame. I had hope in the desserts but they only gotten worse. The waitresses are rude. This is a thirst trap for money. Do yourself a favor and DON'T come, especially if you are more than 5 people, the waitresses will force to order a fixed menu. 2 desserts and a discusting fixed menu cost us 230€ and we had to pay 72€ just for our reservation. I usually go to a lot of restaurantss, and Mexicans are one of my favorites, but this restaurant even being a restaurant is a SCAM Thanks for ruining my birthday I hope it will go bankrupt asap I came hungry and I somehow got hungrier leaving

A very small and cozy restaurant. Despite our larger group, everything was well-organized and prepared. Three women worked in the kitchen, and two more incredibly friendly people were serving. So, top-notch! The food was fantastic—truly sensational. The value for money was also excellent. The restroom is rather small and snug, but that's almost typical for Amsterdam. The service was very friendly and attentive. This restaurant is definitely a must-visit on my next trip to Amsterdam.

I was craving tacos for lunch and the food prepared by Cocina Mexicana really satisfied my tastebuds! The service was extremly kind and gave me a lot of attention. There is a very interesting lunch menu that allows to test through different specialties. I went for the tacos and the quality was there! I don‘t know if they altered the spice intensity for the european customers but I felt like the spices could have been a little more present in the meat. After asking, the staff brought a spicy sauce (seemed homemade) which was very flavourful but missed a little the spicy kick you‘ll usually find in México. The Agua de Jamaica was delicious and the cocktails looked very promising. They will def. be tested on my next Amsterdam trip.

As a dairy intolerant my needs were well catered for. We selected the Chefs menu. What a wonderful meal. Choices that I would not have selected but were delicious. No hesitation in recommending! Service attentive and discreet.

Second time going to the restaurant after a really positive first experience with a large group mid week. The second time both the food and drinks were good but everything felt super rushed and stressful. Firstly we had booked a table of 4 and had a table that fit that, but when one of our party didn't show we were asked to move to a table of 2 with an extra chair which was very cramped. Secondly, we ordered the chefs menu which then hardly fit on the table, particularly when dishes were being brought out when the previous ones weren't finished to move us through faster. They then took a round of drinks orders and the bill which members of the group then had to drink really fast because they had back to back reservations and we were being moved off, which at almost 250 euros for 3 people was rushed and agressive, and not the personal service that had brought me back the second time. Would recommend either a mid-week visit or a later reservation only so that your table is not being flipped so you get a chance to enjoy it

Fantastic food and cocktails 10/10! Great place for celiacs or those with allergies. I had a delicious Paloma Sour cocktail, and 2 of the items from the menu (1 cauliflower taco, and 1 chicken plate), and both were divine. Quality of the food is very high, but the price isn’t too bad - actually maybe slightly cheaper than what you might assume for the quality you’re getting! The staff were friendly, and made me feel very safe to eat there. They were immediately able to talk me through the menu, and reassure me that they could make everything GF to accommodate my allergy. Only two of the items contained gluten, so while not fully GF, it was almost there! And even these two items could be substituted to be safe for ceoliacs. Atmosphere was great, relatively busy when I visited, but with a friendly open vibe, and good ambient noise levels. Would thoroughly recommend anyone in the area to check this place out. It was excellent!

Shrimp tacos were very good! Unfortunately the rest of the tacos are served on tiny (really... the length of a finger) tortillas. Four tiny tacos don't quite add up to a full meal but are priced as a main dish, so this is simply too expensive.

The quality and taste of the food are genuinely impressive—just don’t expect anything that resembles traditional Mexican cuisine. This is Mexican food for people who have never eaten Mexican food in their life. Bold flavors, creative plating, and plenty of confidence—but authenticity takes a long holiday. To the people of Mexico: please do not visit this restaurant. You may experience cultural whiplash. What’s served here under the label of “Mexican” might leave you in total shock. Go with an open mind, forget everything you know about Mexican cuisine, and you might actually enjoy the ride.

Always lovely food and service — our server greeted us excitedly as she knew how to say my name (a rarity!) and all the team made us feel welcome. We shared a few dishes and had the cocktail special, a sour cherry margarita, would recommend.

Don’t miss out on the roasted bone marrow tacos, the absolute best! And service was amazing, the girls were very friendly and made sure we had a great selection of food.

The place is tiny and poorly ventilated (your clothes stink). Despite this, I'd gladly return because the food was really good. We ordered a la carte, and I liked the variety of options available. My favourite Mexican restaurant in Amsterdam! As a Mexican it is hard to find good Mexican food with relatable prices in the NL, and Rosario is that place!! Found it like 2 years ago and I go almost once every 2 months, it’s just like food back home, feels gezellig, rewarding, and wholesome. Their aguachile is out of this world, the best Mexican dish around and not so often used worldwide, but Rosario manages to serve a star of a dish! Not to forget the Cochinita Pibil tacos which are 🔥 and the enchiladas which make you feel like you are back at your abuelita’s home. Last time there was a confusion with our reservation and they managed to serve us a drink before while we waited, gave a us a nice table and even changed us to a bigger space later on, and service on point! Muchas gracias! Can’t wait to go back again (today, tomorrow, any time, any day)!!

Food was really good and so was the service. It’s a quite small restaurant which gives it a really good vibe. For example, if you go the toilet, you’re passing through the kitchen which I really liked. We had the chefs menu which is 5 courses for €49,95. Probably the best value for money I’ve had in a long time. Would definetely recommend this. Will probably come back just to try all the taco’s I missed in the chefs menu.

Excellent. The only negative point I would mention is the table space, which is tight, as in any other restaurant in Amsterdam. The food is impeccable, with special mention for the aguachile and hummus.

If you are looking for the quickest dinner of your life then this is the spot. We had a reservation for 18:15 and we’re gone by 19:05. I was not looking for a quick dinner and found it really hard not to feel rushed and stressed. The food was okay, not amazing but not bad and the prices were reasonable. I wouldn’t go back because for sit down dinners I don’t want fast food, but if you want a quick decent meal, this is a good option.

Food was great although not what I typically like, the chicken enchiladas were great. I'd recommend getting the hot sauce with it. It gets pretty packed here and the atmosphere was nice but we had to sit outside and it was a little cold. We did not do a reservation. Our table was right by the door. They are small servings, they'll suggest ordering around 5 dishes to share.

I want to share my unexpectedly great experience at this restaurant. We came specifically for tacos and originally ordered three different types, but the taste of each bite was so unique and mind blowing that we couldn’t allow ourselves to leave without ordering two extra portions. Big BRAVO to the kitchen staff! All the waiters were super friendly and helpful, and the only thing better than the food was the stunning and beautiful laugh of one waiter who was working there for the very first day 😊 I wish the Rosario Cocina Mexicana Team all the best! Tinny little gem in Amsterdam. I love that it is a small menu but everything in it is super authentic. It is very difficult for us Mexicans to find good Mexican food when living abroad and this is a great place. The tacos de suadero are like biting a taco from Mexico City. The aguachile was amazing, the chilaquiles were very nice. I would only recommend to add a hit more flavor to the margarita. It is a great place, the staff is really friendly.

This is a spot run by spirit and heart. It’s a small restaurant with only two handful of tables with a sublime atmosphere. The staff is friendly and attentive (a little too quick at times). I had the chefs menu which did not disappoint. I’m not big on vegetarian dishes so surprisingly the Sikil Pak (starter) was an absolute highlight; beets cooked to perfection accompanied by an equally tasteful and earthy ‘hummus’ and a dressed salad on top. One of the best dishes I’ve had in a while. The aguachile was refreshing and appropriately tart. The tacos were hearty and filling, on the saltier side. I also got mussels which were delightfully cooked in a parsley heavy broth, innovative indeed and a pleasant surprise. Compared to other Mexican restaurant in the city, the menu feels elevated and tended to. All in all, if you want your heart warmed, go to Rosario’s. It slightly higher priced than what soulfood ought to be but in this economy Id gladly put down some extra bucks for quality food, and in support of a local woman led business.

Cute little restaurant. Great mezcal cocktails and micheladas. It’s Mexican fine dining - not like you’d normally have it on the street in Mexico, but with an Amsterdam twist (also in terms of price). Lots of vegetarian options. I would have liked more salt in the tortilla masa and spice in general, but I think that’s because it’s adapted to the European palate. Some of our dietary restrictions were communicated quite late but they were accommodated anyways, which we really appreciated. We had a great waiter.

The fusion of the flavors in the food from the insanely kind peaceful service from the portions of the food literally I am stunned that there’s this kind of a place here not only in Amsterdam but in the Netherlands. I’m not gonna say I’m a local but I live here 4 years and i always try different but this place I left my heart there. As a foodie person please trust a stranger for once and this place deserves to be 5.0 not 4.5. I tried almost every dish and every dish took my heart but mama mia the enchiladas I took two times that’s dish. I wish everybody working in there especially the chef’s to have a bonus or a raise cause they made me feel not that very welcomed but there hands are made out of gold so they can cook and prepare that food. I can keep going but I won’t stop so thank you so much your amazing service thank you so much for this amazing food and thank you for every second you made me enjoy there.♥️

There were six of us, so the chef's menu was mandatory, with the chef's choice entirely up to him. The food was delicious, with a surprisingly tasty shrimp dish as the highlight. I'm not a fan of shared dining and small, pretty-looking snacks myself - I enjoy a classic three-course menu more than five small finger-food-style dishes, but that's a matter of taste, of course. The service was friendly, although everything was only in English. The range of drinks was a bit disappointing: no Radler and only apple as far as fruit juice was concerned, which was a bit limited. The toilet was in a narrow corridor next to the kitchen, which also seemed to serve as a storage room - not ideal, but it worked. All in all, we had a great evening, although I thought the price of over €60 per person was a bit steep for what we got.

This is my go-to Mexican place in the city! Every time it delivers the same quality and never disappoints! Not just tacos but other plates are so unique and have great mixture of flavors. The cocktails are great too! It’s very tiny and cosy so reservation would be definitely helpful. Sometimes I try my chance to find a place outside or on the window to end up my strolls in Jordaan with Rosario’s delicious food but other than that I make sure to reserve in advance.

Reminded us of the modern Mexican cuisine restaurants we frequented in Mexico City and the Yucatan. This is NOT Tex-Mex, (surprised to see some of the reviews of people likely expecting this). Everything was DELICIOUS!! My favorite was the Sea Bass dish, husband loved the shrimp tacos with blue maize corn tortillas. We left super full and so happy we did!! Space is a little small but comfortable for us. Be sure to reserve in advance.

On this whole trip to Amsterdam the food so far had been either downright horrible or just mid. Rosario however was soooooooo delicious. Lovely people too.

“Hidden gem”? It should stay buried. Do yourself a favor and skip this overpriced tourist trap. I ordered the enchiladas—what I got was a laughably small portion of what I can only describe as baby food wrapped in a rubbery tortilla, stuffed with unseasoned, boiled chicken. The dish was not only bland, it was served cold. No flavor. No care. Just sadness on a plate. Then came the birria tacos—except they weren’t tacos at all. They arrived disassembled, with maybe two spoonfuls of lukewarm meat, no cheese (which is standard), and a garnish so tiny it could fit on a cracker: a measly pinch of onions and cilantro, plus four dry tortillas. We were told we could ask for more tortillas if needed—no mention of a charge—then got billed for them anyway. When asked how the food was, I calmly explained everything. The response? A blank stare, zero acknowledgment, and a full-price bill for one of the most underwhelming meals I’ve ever had. To make matters worse, the restaurant was freezing. Every time the front door opened, icy air rushed in. I got up several times to close it myself, only for the manager to come by and blatantly prop it open again, ignoring guest comfort entirely. I left hungry and frustrated—and ended up stopping for fries afterward just to feel like I’d eaten something. If you know anything about real Mexican food—or basic hospitality—you’ll understand why this place is an embarrassment. It’s a lazy, soulless cash grab aimed at tourists who don’t know better. Avoid at all costs. P.S. The music and overall vibe have absolutely nothing to do with Mexican culture. As a Latino with a Mexican fiancée, we both found it genuinely offensive.
