Great little spot, the Margaritas are spot on, staff we’re very nice and attentive, thou they don’t have Fajitas on the menu was a bit disappointing, the rest of the menu was authentic and well prepared.

Authentic Mexican cuisine: perfectly cooked and seasoned. We all loved it. The chicken sandwich is amazing. The service is excellent. Note that it's not very busy at lunchtime.

The service was really good and the birria tacos were definitely the highlight. The pork belly was also perfectly crispy, so those were the two standouts for me. The chicken taco was just okay. My biggest issue was the price. At around €8–9 per taco, and with a minimum order of three, it gets very expensive very quickly. Especially considering the portions are on the smaller side. The food was good, but at that price, I expected a little more on the plate. The birria was delicious enough to make me happy I tried it, but I’m not sure the overall experience justifies the price tag.

What a wonderful evening we had at this place on Lange Leidsedwarsstraat. The atmosphere here is very pleasant and inviting from the moment you step inside. We thoroughly enjoyed the various dishes, and the presentation was truly top-notch. The Ocho tequila we were served, in particular, was highly recommended for enthusiasts. Everything was perfectly taken care of, and the flavors blended together excellently. I will definitely be back here again. Highly recommended for anyone who loves good food and a cozy atmosphere.

The waiters constantly wanted to take away the full plates in front of us. The portions are small. The dishes didn’t have much Mexican flavor.

Absolutely delicious, the best tacos I've ever eaten!

It was a very nice experience. We had a delicious meal, the staff were always ready to serve us, and the music created a lovely Mexican atmosphere. The portions, like in all restaurants these days, were a bit on the small side.

Bruno was our waiter, he was amazing. Vibes all night long took care of us and was so genuine!!! Would 100% come back he really made our night 😀

After living in Southern california (which has fantastic Mexican food) for over 20 years. This place is it. Authentic tacos. Don't bother doing all the add ons. Take them as they are and enjoy. Great tequila selection and friendly staff.

This place is a gem! Excellent food, solid drinks, wonderful service! We had such a friendly, attentive waitress from Málaga. The salsa amarilla and Paloma are tasty. We all got mix and match tacos and were very happy. Definitely recommend and would stop again!

We came because the place looked really nice. We each ordered two drinks and one main course (there were two of us). I think €70 is quite expensive for what it is. Be careful with the price of the tacos!! Check carefully because if you order six, the price goes up quickly!! It was still good and enjoyable overall. Note that they don't accept cash.

Very friendly and attentive service; everyone went out of their way to ensure we had a wonderful evening with delicious, fresh food and tequila. Highly recommended! The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed, and the food arrived quickly. Two or three appetizers to share, plus three to five different tacos per person (your choice), were perfectly sufficient for two people.

the birria burrito was not terrible but the rice was the wrong texture and it wasn’t very flavorful. the elote was straight up bad to me and didn’t even taste like elote. my waiter brought me an extra bowl of chips no charge and i did enjoy eating those with the sauce and pico. but overall left disappointed especially for the price

The restaurant is fine, right in the city center. The food is very good. It is just a shame that we had to leave after our main course to make room for others. And that despite the fact that we had made a reservation and were only inside for an hour. Not very customer-friendly.

Tacos & Tequila is a nice restaurant with great, although pricey food. The reason for a 1-star service rating is my girlfriend ordered a simple ginger tea with her meal, which is her common choice. After several minutes, the tea arrived looking lovely, however after several minutes (30+) and several taste tests, still tasted like plain water, with was absolutely no taste of ginger. We asked the waiter who simply said, that's the way it is supposed to taste, and walked away. What?!?! We asked again, when we could catch their attention, got the same response, so I asked to speak to "someone". The head waiter (?) came by and said the same thing. I politely said "No, ginger tea is supposed to have a nice ginger taste", they dismissed our thoughts, so I said "Well, I'm not paying for it" (on principle only). When we finished our meal and they brought the bill, I refused to pay for the tea. I asked to speak to the manager, who came, immediately began berating us in public, and hostilely demanded that we pay for the tea. I stood our ground, eventually he begrudgingly backed down, and we paid the bill and left. We have traveled extensively around the world, and could not believe what had just taken place.

Friendly service, a very nice, cozy place. But some meals were a huge disappointment, like the beef taco; the meat was well-filled but very salty, and there were no vegetables with it like a tomato, some lettuce, or corn! Not even guacamole with it (very meager and stingy), which is supposed to be included. No, as I noticed later on the bill, you have to pay for that. Absurd! I ordered fried green banana, which was tasty, but it came with a dollop of guacamole; I had to pay an extra 3 euros for that, really ridiculous and stingy!! Another dish with rice, meat, avocado, and a tasty tomato and onion salad was good. Also ordered 2 mango jarittos, which were recommended. It costs a whopping 6 euros per bottle, really ridiculous, not normal. So 12 euros for 2 soft drinks. Once again, it is a nicely decorated place, but I don't think I will eat there again.

Everything was simply incredible!!!

So I was here last week while visiting Amsterdam, the food is at best decent.. the birria tacos lacked flavour and the jalapeño poppers bursting in oil, the staff on the other hand was quite rude in my opinion just constantly stare at you from across the room like you’ve a fly on your forehead (although the one man working the tables was a gentleman) makes people a little uncomfortable. And the price is absolutely extortionate! And I mean extortionate!

Thank you to the young Serbian gentleman who served us after we were spoken to at reception by a waitress as if we were children. She seemed bothered by having to do her job, almost as if she didn’t want to serve us at all. She avoided looking us in the eye, as if she had something against us. Strangely, she did not behave this way toward the customers sitting at the table next to us. Fortunately, the young Serbian waiter was professional, polite, and made the experience much more pleasant. We would have enjoyed the food more if she didn’t behave that way.

The food and staff are great. The restrooms, however, are a disaster, not nice at all. Like I said, the food and staff are great.

Yesterday evening, around 10:00 PM, I came here for dinner with my mother. It is now 5:00 PM the next day, and we both still feel very sick. We were unable to sleep all night due to nausea and repeated vomiting. I also had significant chest pressure. We had come to Amsterdam specifically for two days, but due to our symptoms, we had to cut our trip short and left for home in a hurry the following morning. Naturally, we cannot determine the cause with certainty, but the symptoms started shortly after our visit and cause us serious concern regarding possible food poisoning. Unfortunately, this has completely ruined our trip.

The place does one thing good which is service and atmosphere but on food this is not mexian food at all. Completely void of taste and spices...tried three different tacos and a burrito only thing we could taste was the batter and bland rice. Mexican food is so simple to make yet surprising how such popular place doesn't get it. For the amount you spend any other place would do better I assume.

Service was extremely friendly and attentive, food was tasty but in my opinion it is all very overpriced. I understand it is Amsterdam center but still. Another negative point is that it was very hot inside, we couldn’t wait to get out for some fresh air.

This was a bit of a disaster for us as we were so looking forward to our meal. Our main order was the wrong order. We waited for 30 minute and asked again. The waiter seemed surprised we were waiting, it was obvious then they forgotten to reorder. We were offered free cocktails but they never arrived! Eventually our burritos arrived after an hour of waiting and they were cold and very lacking in flavour. We were offered free churros due to the very poor service and, yes you’ve guessed it they never arrived as well! It was a complete comedy of errors! We did get a discount on the food we received, but it didn’t compensate spoiling our evening. It’s up to you whether you take a chance on this place.

It was good. The food lacked substance, the chicken was a little spicy and the beer was dry in our opinion.

The Chicharron was mostly fat & hard to eat pork, not very crunchy, but it wasn't bad, just not what i expected. The thick fry like side dish (that comes with it) was also very dry, didn't really like that. The Birria Taco's were very good though, one was a LITTLE bit burned, but really nothing noticeable. Wouldn't go back, but I sure wouldn't say i didn't enjoy my visit, because it was quite nice!

Truly a top-notch place! Very cozy atmosphere, the food and drinks arrive very quickly and were really delicious. When we had some questions about the tequila, Pablo helped us out tremendously. SHOUT OUT PABLO! Definitely recommended!

Tadty tacos, cozy atmosphere, fast service

Tacos were delicious, but over priced for the portions, and the margarita was awkwardly filmy. 8 dollars for a very small taco is about 2x what I usually pay. Guac was merely mashed avocado without any spices or other typical ingredients.

As an African American from the south USA. I've had a lot of Mexican cuisine out to cali and mexico....70 euros is beyond egregious for a half pitcher and that 18 hours marinated chicken tacos...more like 18 minutes. The portions were way too small for the tacos to be 7-9 euros each. But the service was amazing and top tier, but their pricing was horrible.

As a Mexican, I can say this place definitely passes the test 👏🇲🇽 Finding good tacos outside of Mexico isn't easy, but Tacos & Tequila in Amsterdam is a real surprise. The flavors are well-balanced, the tortillas have a great texture, and the ingredients feel fresh. We tried several tacos (including birria and carne asada) and they definitely satisfied our cravings. The drinks are also a highlight—the margaritas and tequila are very well-made, which adds an authentic touch to the experience. The atmosphere is very pleasant, perfect for going with friends or for a casual outing. The service was good and fast. That said, like everything in Amsterdam, it's not cheap, but considering the quality and how difficult it is to find decent Mexican food in Europe, it's worth it. It's not quite like eating in Mexico, but it's definitely one of the best taco spots you'll find around here. Recommended 👍

I was here a couple of years ago and I remembered this place was good but when I visited again, it was quite disappointing. One taco for 8€ and it didn’t even taste good. Especially the chicken one tasted very dry and old.

Disappointing value for money The waiters were friendly, but the food was unfortunately disappointing. €8 for a single, tiny taco is simply far too expensive, especially since every extra item costs extra. The taste was also terrible. Despite the high bill, we all had to find a snack elsewhere afterward to fill up.

Great taco lunch at Tacos & Tequila in April 2026. The tacos are relatively small but packed with delicious toppings. Service was quick and incredibly kind. We paid around €75 for 2 sets of 4 tacos, 2 non-alcoholic beers, and tap water -- decent quality-price ratio for Amsterdam. For families, there is a changing table in the left-side bathroom in the restaurant.

I am from Texas and love Texmex food. This is the best place I have found in Amsterdam. The food was fresh and tasted excellent. Will defiantly be returning. The service was exceptional and we had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners who explain to us about all the tequilas they offer. Great experience. I gave 3 stars on the atmosphere because it was a bit dark inside.

I found this place by accident but I am sure glad I did! The experience and food was beyond 5 stars. True authentic Mexican food served by the most amazing group of people. I usually have high expectations of food and service and this place exceeded all standards. The staff is amazing beyond words, a whole team of people bring you a truly flawless experience. Visiting this establishment was the highlight of my trip and I will come back to Amsterdam just to visit Tacos & Tequila! The place was clean and had a welcoming atmosphere. But honestly, the quality-to-price ratio is terrible. One taco costs €8. A burrito that you could easily make at home costs €24. It seems absurd to pay €70 and go home hungry. I don't recommend it.

Been here twice before with the previous (now seemingly old) menu, and on both occasions the food and service were incredible — easy 5 stars. Unfortunately, this visit was a huge letdown and I’ve had to drop my rating to 2 stars. Prices have seemingly doubled in the last six months. €24 for a burrito that was genuinely about the size of half a slice of toast is extremely hard to justify. While the flavour was okay and there was a decent amount of birria beef, the portion was very small overall. To make matters worse, it came with two single tortilla chips and a smear of sauce, which honestly felt insulting at that price point. My partner ordered chicken wings for €13. The portion size itself was reasonable, but charging an extra €2 for sauce is ridiculous. The wings were dry, almost burnt, and only lightly seasoned with a mild “Mexican-style” flavour. They also ordered a quesadilla — something you could easily make better at home. It had barely any tomatoes in it, lacked flavour, and €11 for half a quesadilla is shocking. It really feels like prices have either increased across the board or were inflated because it was around New Year’s. Either way, it’s a business practice I can’t support. This place has gone from a must-visit to “we’ll give it one more chance

Eventhough the taste of the food was nice, each of my tortillas kept falling apart. Therefore, I had to use cutlery to eat tacos…

I had made a reservation, but they couldn't find it in the system. We ordered food and then had to wait an hour. The food was cold, the cheese on the nachos was too hard. The nachos weren't topped properly with the toppings. The birria burger wasn't filled properly. The meat also tasted very old. Overall, a terrible experience. I will definitely never return and I don't recommend it!

The food here was delicious! While the tacos are a little on the expensive side they really do give you a good amount for the price! I had beef, octopus and chicken tacos and the flavour was great! Extra spicy sauce can be added on the side for those wanting that extra kick ranging in spice level! All cocktails can be had with or without alcohol which is great for those not wanting to drink but would like to try the range of margaritas! Staff were very friendly and welcoming! Atmosphere was very cozy!

This place has great Mexican food. I tried the tacos and nachos and really liked the chicken and octopus tacos. The habanero–pineapple salsa pairs perfectly with both the tacos and the nachos. The service was also excellent. The only downside for me was the price. Compared to other Mexican restaurants, it’s definitely on the higher side. However, the quality of the food and cocktails is very good.
