Absolutely out of this world. The food at SAAM was delicious, the pairings were spot on, and the service made the whole experience feel incredibly special. As a South African, I loved how warmly familiar it all felt. There were little touches throughout the evening that genuinely made me feel like I was back in South Africa. Beautiful food, thoughtful pairings and exceptional hospitality. I would absolutely recommend SAAM.

Sunday afternoon on the terrace. It isn't always open on Sunday afternoons, but it was today with a special Father's Day menu. Everything arranged down to the last detail, beautiful food, good wine, fantastic staff, and therefore a wonderfully pleasant atmosphere. Haven't had such a good lunch in ages ‼️🎊🎊

Wonderfully curated chef's menu, exceptional wine list, high attention to detail and a service quality which is just the right amount to ensure you have a quiet and relaxed evening but always feel well taken care off. And while the food is all about South Afrika, the Dutch cheese selection and its presentation was something truly special. Paired with the best white port I have ever tried. We had a really great experience at Saam. From the moment we walked in, the staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming. They struck that perfect balance of being attentive without hovering, and you could tell they really cared about making sure everyone was having a good time. The food was excellent. Every dish felt thoughtful and well executed, with great flavors and beautiful presentation. You could really taste the quality of the ingredients, and it was clear the chef takes a lot of pride in what he serves. In the end, it was absolutely worth the time and money. Between the warm service and the outstanding food, it made for a memorable evening. I would happily recommend Saam to anyone looking for a special meal.

The food was decent, but unfortunately the service was quite disappointing. We came as a group of four, including one child. However, it seemed that the child was not counted as a guest. Warm towels and plates were prepared only for three adults, even though our child was also dining with us and we ordered food for him. It did not feel very welcoming for families with children. When we left, there were four of us but we were given only one small bag of cookies with two pieces inside. Small details like this make a difference in the overall experience. The organization of the service was also lacking. We sat for more than 30 minutes without anyone explaining the menu or how the ordering system works, even though this is supposed to be a fine-dining restaurant. For a 5-course menu priced at around €90 per person, I would expect a much more professional and attentive level of service. Overall, I was quite disappointed by the lack of refinement and attentiveness. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back.

I went here for lunch today with my South African husband, and there's only one word I can think of... wow! Wow for the flavors, wow for the beautiful decor, and wow for the lovely staff. We enjoyed delicious dishes, including sea bass and, as the highlight, homemade biltong. We're still dreaming about the delicious food and can't wait to come back soon.

The matching wine (FMS swartland) was excellent, though we loved this South African focus—which is beautifully reflected in the wall art, the music, and the cuisine. There is more than enough quality and variety in ZA wines to truly distinguish this restaurant from standard French cuisine. Pleasant, expert service and unique, varied dishes. We dined here at Christmas. It's a beautiful restaurant. A warm welcome. The decor is lovely. The service was friendly and enthusiastic. The dishes were excellent. The wines were excellent. However, we expected more from the South African influences, such as lesser-known, interesting, and perhaps even exciting ingredients and flavors. The Christmas menu, which began with North Sea lobster, wasn't particularly captivating. That feeling lingered for a while. Good intentions, enthusiasm, but no real wow factor. South Africa proved to be more than we expected, resulting in an evening of unfulfilled expectations.

Six of us had an absolutely incredible, delicious meal at Saam for our work Christmas dinner. The service was excellent, personal and great fun. The food was just sensational (we had a 6-course dinner) and we all discovered lots of new tastes.

Interesting restaurant in an unassuming location. Went a group after business meeting and assumed the chef s table to go all in on the full menu. Service was cheerful over the 3 plus hrs, maybe wine selection could have been a tad more informed but otherwise good. Kitchen is South African inspired combined with modern European presentation. Dishes were overall very tasty and of decent size given their number. Highlight was surprisingly a take on the Italian classic caponata, which apparently is a house special. The best intermezzo was also good while a duck breast disappointed a bit by being chewy. Overall solid and worth a stop

As a Dutch/South African couple, SAAM was the perfect venue for our intimate wedding dinner! The entire restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere, but the bar on the top floor is truly next-level, stunning! All our wishes were catered to, and they even incorporated a specially requested ingredient into a delicious amuse-bouche. The service was exceptional, and the food was phenomenal. So, when will they get a Michelin star? ;)

Some restaurants create not only an experience but also a memory, and SAAM is definitely one of them. The creativity in the dishes, the friendly and professional staff, and the pleasant atmosphere make this place truly worthy of more than 5 stars. The 0% off menu, like the wine pairing, perfectly complemented the five-course menu. The sommelier praised the various wines. The 0% off menu was certainly not overlooked in the explanation, and the various spices in these 0% off drinks complement it perfectly. The dishes in the five-course menu are perfectly proportioned, have balanced flavors, and are a true blend of South Africa and AMstel. This certainly won't be my last visit to SAAM; this memory has left me wanting more!

The food is definitely tasty, but it’s just glacially slow in coming, it’s a three hour affair and much too exotic for children. Prepare to spend 3-4 hours before you are done.

As soon as we entered we were welcomed by a team that immediately created a cozy atmosphere with their expertise and warm approach. What stood out even more was the stylish way in which SAAM integrates sustainability into every step of the evening. Whether it concerns conscious choices in the kitchen or environmentally friendly policies, it is clear that attention is not only paid to taste, but also to a responsible future. The wine selection was nothing short of inspiring. Each wine part of the evening paired perfectly with the carefully composed dishes, and the explanation given made the experience as educational as it was delicious. It was a party for both our taste buds and our curiosity! The dishes were not only deliciously prepared, but also beautifully presented. Each plate was like a small work of art, where both the visual layout and the explanation of the inspiration behind the creations took us into a story of culinary passion. To conclude, something extra: a big shout-out to Björn! His personal and attentive service made our evening even more special and added an extra warm note to our festive experience. Fantastic food, service and ambiance! This is truly a great fine dining place. Lots of attention to detail, the price/quality ratio is right and it’s just delicious and beautifully presented. We had one veggie and one normal 4 course meal, both truly great! We will be coming back. Cannot wait to sit on the terrace by the water in summer. The open kitchen cooking is great! And the staff is very knowledgeable also about the wine. Lastly, I love the attention to detail in the bathrooms and how the water in the bathroom comes out warm not freezing cold!

Uitstekend restaurant met Zuid-Afrika als belangrijkste focus. Dat zie je aan de kunst aan de wanden, de ZA muziek en natuurlijk ook het heerlijke eten en de wijnen. Zou dan ook adviseren om uitsluitend Zuid-Afrikaanse wijnen te serveren (zeker bij het menu), tenzij gasten anders zouden willen. Er is meer dan vokdoende kwaliteit en variatie en dat onderscheidt dit restaurant ook van een Franse keuken. Plezierige en vakkundige bediening en heerlijke, afwisselende bijzondere gerechten. Atmosphere is so timeless. Food is really good.

My dinner at Saam was a culinary experience of the highest level. Each dish was a taste explosion due to the combination of the different parts of the dish. It is very impressive that the kitchen managed to achieve its sublime taste experience. The service was very attentive and service-oriented. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and thoughtful. It was a cozy environment that was completely filled, but not overpowering. Enough reasons to eat again.

After a long day of work, we decided to go out. I found this gem scrolling through the list and decided to make a reservation. It was easy to make a reservation and after a long hard day, not having to choose what to eat was ideal. Arriving at the restaurant, we were greeted by the friendly staff members who took our coats and stored them safely and proceeded to show us to our table. We were already impressed with the cleanliness and attention to the details to create an amazing dining experience. It was by far, the best experience I’ve had thus far from the entering the door, and even the following day having a rusk with coffee in the morning. The taste of the food was absolutely phenomenal. Each dish was extremely well thought out and the flavour combinations were out of this world and with each dish being unique in its own way but also intertwining with the other courses creating a flow of amazing experience of delightful taste sensations. To say that I recommend it is a vast understatement. It is definitely a place I would visit again and would recommend to everyone for an amazing experience. There are always a few points of improvement: 1. I found the younger staff more “rushed” when explaining the dish. Relaxing is part of the experience and if you feel stressed and rushed, so do I, slow down a bit. 2. It was quite load where we were seated and felt a bit cramped up between two other couples. A bit more space would be appreciated to add to the experience. Overall, amazing experience!

I had expected a few more ties to South Africa here considering the name. Although there may be some inspiration in the dishes, it didn't evoke any nostalgia of my home country for me. It reminded me more of other contemporary dutch restaurants. We appreciated that there was a non-alcoholic pairing for the meal. The staff were all friendly, though occasionally a bit rushed in running through the ingredients of the course.

Eindelijk een datum gevonden om hier te gaan eten. Margot Janse behoort al tientallen jaren tot de wereldtop en wij mochten dit ooit in Franschhoek meemaken. Nu dus om de hoek, alhoewel zij zelf maar een paar keer per jaar er is. Nu ook niet, maar dat mocht de pret niet drukken. Fijne zaak, ruim opgezet, parkeren op de grote parkeerplaats op 3 minuten afstand. We hadden de chefs table, hogere zit, met redelijk zicht op de open keuken. Wat bites en een geweldig 5 course menu, prachtig opgemaakt, goed op smaak en zeer gevarieerd. Vlees, vis, veggie. Ook een prachtige wijnkaart, niet alleen Zuid-afrkaans, maar als je hier bent dan zou ik dat toch aanbevelen. Twee jaar open, nog geen ster, onbegrijpelijk. Het stond al van dag 1 op de verlanglijst, we hadden eerder moeten gaan. We ll be back. Baje dankie voor een topavond.

10 Nahoum is a wonderful restaurant

Quality quite ok.. But the price is really out of line. The starter (pike-perch) was tasty but looked more like an appetizer. The main course (steak) was delicious but almost no side dish (a tablespoon of string beans, half a grilled cauliflower floret, and a few pieces of polenta) Again. The quality was ok.

Erg slechte service. We waren aan de vroege kant. Door medewerker werd gezegd dat we maar even iets moesten gaan drinken in een ander restaurant en dat we 0m 17.45 weer terug konden komen. We waren er om 17.45 en de deur was op slot. Een medewerker deed de deur open en zei dat we pas om 18.00 uur naar binnen mochten. Mijn partner heeft een aantal horecabedrijven en dit kan gewoon niet. Met zo'n slechte service gaan we hier nooit meer heen. We zijn naar een ander restaurant gegaan en daar ontvingen ze ons allervriendelijks

Yesterday, I visited Saam for the first time. I had already heard from friends that the food there is amazing, and I was eager to try it for myself. So, yesterday, I had a wonderful meal there with a friend. I specifically chose this restaurant to celebrate her birthday. I had emailed and spoken with the staff beforehand about how they could surprise her for her special day. They went above and beyond, surprising her in such a sweet way. Not only did they bring out a candle and a dessert, but they also gave her a handwritten card and even sang a song with her name in it! We were truly impressed. No restaurant has ever done as much as Saam did. In addition, we opted for the set menu, and the food was absolutely delicious. Not to mention, the staff were incredibly warm, helpful, and kind. This place is truly a gem in the Ouderkerk/Amstelveen area. We will definitely be coming back soon! I want to extend my deepest thanks to the entire team for an unforgettable evening. Unique dining experience featuring ingredients, wines, and seasonings from South Africa. Great ambience. Very comfortable tables and seating. Not inexpensive, but very fair for a restaurant that might just earn a Michelin star.( If it hasn't already)

Very tasty meal! Nice wines too. Only sometimes served too quickly. Unfortunately we also got hail in the quail croquette, almost breaking a tooth. Also indicated to the hostess and was again dismissed with a sigh of “yes, that is possible with game”. Which is of course the case, but you should check this properly and if things do go wrong you can respond more politely to guests. In response to your answer: we immediately indicated this, but no one really listened to it, in fact, the hostess only seemed irritated. We were allowed to have 1 plate of the previous dish and the new dish was simply placed next to it.

We sat outside for over 4 hours with something tasty to eat and because we did not want to drink alcohol, we made it extra difficult for this restaurant to ask for non-alcoholic matching drinks and that was no problem for them.

Wat een fantastisch restaurant is dit. Personeel uitermate vriendelijk. Kregen 5 gangen diner aangeboden door onze kinderen. Beter cadeau kunnen we niet wensen op culinair gebied. Amuses heerlijk alle gangen van het diner en het dessert meer dan voortreffelijk. Een feestje was het. Komen zeker terug.

Great restaurant, great atmosphere and top food.

Had a nice evening with friends. Delicious food, especially the appetizers and the eggplant (signature dish). The interior was a bit disappointing (low) after the exciting high dark glass facade on the outside, but good atmosphere inside. The wine-food combinations were not always chosen happily (dessert wine was much too sweet). Service also a bit awkward, but all in all an asset to the Ouderkerk catering industry. In my opinion, the South African signature could be a bit more pronounced.

Het personeel in dit restaurant is uitermate vriendelijk. De avond begint met een rijke selectie aan amuses, gevolgd door heerlijke gerechtjes die allemaal een Zuid-Afrikaanse twist hebben. Bij een enkel gerechtje leverde dat bij mij een gefronsde wenkbrauw op, maar over smaak valt niet te twisten tijdens dit heerlijke dinertje.

We regularly eat at restaurants with a star, but Saam is certainly at or above that level!! Everything was good and tasty. Delicious appetizers and entrees. The 5 course menu was varied and balanced. Wines went well with it. Service was incredibly good and nice. Only 2 minor points: the sauce with the tuna was a bit too astringent/bitter for my taste. And the mustard with the lacquered eggplant is a bit too overpowering. Nevertheless, highly recommended!!

On a special family occasion, we enjoyed a very pleasant dinner at SAAM. The personal attention and tasteful decor made us feel immediately welcome and at home. The dishes with a South African touch were special as were the matching wines. Special mention for the drinks from the 0.0 arrangement, which were prepared with passion and matched the dishes very well. A big compliment to Margot Janse and her team! Baie Dankie!

Very tasty food and what a beautiful and pleasant atmosphere. Wine pairing excellent and the ladies in the service very knowledgeable and friendly. In short, highly recommended!
