We had a truly delicious meal here! I was truly impressed by the chef's creativity; it was fantastic. I had a non-alcoholic pairing with the menu, which I was also very pleasantly surprised by. All the drinks paired beautifully with the dishes, and the drinks themselves were a creative work of art in themselves. We truly enjoyed the evening. Thank you!

An insanely beautiful evening experienced on the terrace, this is really a business that is right! Enthusiasm, passion and love, you feel that from the service and you taste that from the kitchen.. all details have been thought of and we were now sitting wonderfully on the terrace by the water, but inside Saam is also really great in terms of styling and that open kitchen, WoW

Highly recommended!! We had an amazing evening at Saam for a birthday celebration. Both the regular and the vegetarian menu were great. Very flavorful combinations and beautiful presentations. The sommelier recommended some of her favorite South African wines, which were amazing! Will be back again!

The food is definitely tasty, but it’s just glacially slow in coming, it’s a three hour affair and much too exotic for children. Prepare to spend 3-4 hours before you are done.

Had a wonderful lunch at Saam in Amstelveen! The food was absolutely delicious — every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. The setting is just as impressive next to the Amstel.

During our 25th anniversary, my girlfriend and I decided to have a special evening together at SAAM restaurant in Amstelveen. As soon as we entered we were welcomed by a team that immediately created a cozy atmosphere with their expertise and warm approach. What stood out even more was the stylish way in which SAAM integrates sustainability into every step of the evening. Whether it concerns conscious choices in the kitchen or environmentally friendly policies, it is clear that attention is not only paid to taste, but also to a responsible future. The wine selection was nothing short of inspiring. Each wine part of the evening paired perfectly with the carefully composed dishes, and the explanation given made the experience as educational as it was delicious. It was a party for both our taste buds and our curiosity! The dishes were not only deliciously prepared, but also beautifully presented. Each plate was like a small work of art, where both the visual layout and the explanation of the inspiration behind the creations took us into a story of culinary passion. To conclude, something extra: a big shout-out to Björn! His personal and attentive service made our evening even more special and added an extra warm note to our festive experience. We can't wait to come back again soon!

Fantastic food, service and ambiance! This is truly a great fine dining place. Lots of attention to detail, the price/quality ratio is right and it’s just delicious and beautifully presented. We had one veggie and one normal 4 course meal, both truly great! We will be coming back. Cannot wait to sit on the terrace by the water in summer. The open kitchen cooking is great! And the staff is very knowledgeable also about the wine. Lastly, I love the attention to detail in the bathrooms and how the water in the bathroom comes out warm not freezing cold!

Uitstekend restaurant met Zuid-Afrika als belangrijkste focus. Dat zie je aan de kunst aan de wanden, de ZA muziek en natuurlijk ook het heerlijke eten en de wijnen. Zou dan ook adviseren om uitsluitend Zuid-Afrikaanse wijnen te serveren (zeker bij het menu), tenzij gasten anders zouden willen. Er is meer dan vokdoende kwaliteit en variatie en dat onderscheidt dit restaurant ook van een Franse keuken. Plezierige en vakkundige bediening en heerlijke, afwisselende bijzondere gerechten. Can 100% recommend! We had the chef’s menu and the dishes were delicious, original and well portioned. From the timing of the different courses to the friendliness of the staff, it was one of the best dining experiences we had in a long time!

We went to SAAM for my boyfriend’s birthday and had a wonderful time. From start to finish we truly enjoyed every dish and discovered South African inspired cuisine was a delight. We will happily come back and recommend to anyone who is foodie to go and try!

Do you like atmosphere, attention, no-nonsense dining experiences, adequate service, I could go on and on.... But after crossing the threshold a number of times, this is my favorite restaurant. Atmosphere is so timeless. Food is really good.

My dinner at Saam was a culinary experience of the highest level. Each dish was a taste explosion due to the combination of the different parts of the dish. It is very impressive that the kitchen managed to achieve its sublime taste experience. The service was very attentive and service-oriented. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and thoughtful. It was a cozy environment that was completely filled, but not overpowering. Enough reasons to eat again.

After a long day of work, we decided to go out. I found this gem scrolling through the list and decided to make a reservation. It was easy to make a reservation and after a long hard day, not having to choose what to eat was ideal. Arriving at the restaurant, we were greeted by the friendly staff members who took our coats and stored them safely and proceeded to show us to our table. We were already impressed with the cleanliness and attention to the details to create an amazing dining experience. It was by far, the best experience I’ve had thus far from the entering the door, and even the following day having a rusk with coffee in the morning. The taste of the food was absolutely phenomenal. Each dish was extremely well thought out and the flavour combinations were out of this world and with each dish being unique in its own way but also intertwining with the other courses creating a flow of amazing experience of delightful taste sensations. To say that I recommend it is a vast understatement. It is definitely a place I would visit again and would recommend to everyone for an amazing experience. There are always a few points of improvement: 1. I found the younger staff more “rushed” when explaining the dish. Relaxing is part of the experience and if you feel stressed and rushed, so do I, slow down a bit. 2. It was quite load where we were seated and felt a bit cramped up between two other couples. A bit more space would be appreciated to add to the experience. Overall, amazing experience!

I had expected a few more ties to South Africa here considering the name. Although there may be some inspiration in the dishes, it didn't evoke any nostalgia of my home country for me. It reminded me more of other contemporary dutch restaurants. We appreciated that there was a non-alcoholic pairing for the meal. The staff were all friendly, though occasionally a bit rushed in running through the ingredients of the course.

Eindelijk een datum gevonden om hier te gaan eten. Margot Janse behoort al tientallen jaren tot de wereldtop en wij mochten dit ooit in Franschhoek meemaken. Nu dus om de hoek, alhoewel zij zelf maar een paar keer per jaar er is. Nu ook niet, maar dat mocht de pret niet drukken. Fijne zaak, ruim opgezet, parkeren op de grote parkeerplaats op 3 minuten afstand. We hadden de chefs table, hogere zit, met redelijk zicht op de open keuken. Wat bites en een geweldig 5 course menu, prachtig opgemaakt, goed op smaak en zeer gevarieerd. Vlees, vis, veggie. Ook een prachtige wijnkaart, niet alleen Zuid-afrkaans, maar als je hier bent dan zou ik dat toch aanbevelen. Twee jaar open, nog geen ster, onbegrijpelijk. Het stond al van dag 1 op de verlanglijst, we hadden eerder moeten gaan. We ll be back. Baje dankie voor een topavond.

10 Nahoum is a wonderful restaurant

Quality quite ok.. But the price is really out of line. The starter (pike-perch) was tasty but looked more like an appetizer. The main course (steak) was delicious but almost no side dish (a tablespoon of string beans, half a grilled cauliflower floret, and a few pieces of polenta) Again. The quality was ok.

South Africa on the Amstel. Excellent dishes and wines. Always take the menu.

Erg slechte service. We waren aan de vroege kant. Door medewerker werd gezegd dat we maar even iets moesten gaan drinken in een ander restaurant en dat we 0m 17.45 weer terug konden komen. We waren er om 17.45 en de deur was op slot. Een medewerker deed de deur open en zei dat we pas om 18.00 uur naar binnen mochten. Mijn partner heeft een aantal horecabedrijven en dit kan gewoon niet. Met zo'n slechte service gaan we hier nooit meer heen. We zijn naar een ander restaurant gegaan en daar ontvingen ze ons allervriendelijks

Unique dining experience featuring ingredients, wines, and seasonings from South Africa. Great ambience. Very comfortable tables and seating. Not inexpensive, but very fair for a restaurant that might just earn a Michelin star.( If it hasn't already)

Yesterday, I visited Saam for the first time. I had already heard from friends that the food there is amazing, and I was eager to try it for myself. So, yesterday, I had a wonderful meal there with a friend. I specifically chose this restaurant to celebrate her birthday. I had emailed and spoken with the staff beforehand about how they could surprise her for her special day. They went above and beyond, surprising her in such a sweet way. Not only did they bring out a candle and a dessert, but they also gave her a handwritten card and even sang a song with her name in it! We were truly impressed. No restaurant has ever done as much as Saam did. In addition, we opted for the set menu, and the food was absolutely delicious. Not to mention, the staff were incredibly warm, helpful, and kind. This place is truly a gem in the Ouderkerk/Amstelveen area. We will definitely be coming back soon! I want to extend my deepest thanks to the entire team for an unforgettable evening. Very tasty meal! Nice wines too. Only sometimes served too quickly. Unfortunately we also got hail in the quail croquette, almost breaking a tooth. Also indicated to the hostess and was again dismissed with a sigh of “yes, that is possible with game”. Which is of course the case, but you should check this properly and if things do go wrong you can respond more politely to guests. In response to your answer: we immediately indicated this, but no one really listened to it, in fact, the hostess only seemed irritated. We were allowed to have 1 plate of the previous dish and the new dish was simply placed next to it.

You'll just have a great evening if you sit here. Took someone here for the 2nd date. We sat outside for over 4 hours with something tasty to eat and because we did not want to drink alcohol, we made it extra difficult for this restaurant to ask for non-alcoholic matching drinks and that was no problem for them.

What a nice experience for dinner. I am a South African, and it was great to see my countries’ cuisine appreciated to the extent that it deserves. I also enjoyed the extensive selection of South African wines. It definitely made me miss home a little extra today. When they change/refresh the menu, I will definitely be back!

I couldn't resist not writing a review. Delicious food with a South African twist. Everything was really tasty! We had a 3 course menu with 2 appetizers and delicious sourdough bread with melted butter. Outstanding service! We will definitely come back again!

We just dropped in early in the afternoon and were warmly welcomed and really enjoyed the bites with a glass of MCC. This all tasted like more and we want to enjoy the dinner courses again soon :)

Very helpful and welcoming staff. The restaurant is beautiful and there's a lot of stories to be heard, if you're attentive. The lunch menu and wine pairing were absolutely delicious. We were especially impressed by the quality and inventivity of the vegetarian options.

We were there today all evening. We saw at the beginning DJ Samame & Suzi and they were so great - chill jazz house vibes. Perfect for the Saturday afternoon/evening. Wat een fantastisch restaurant is dit. Personeel uitermate vriendelijk. Kregen 5 gangen diner aangeboden door onze kinderen. Beter cadeau kunnen we niet wensen op culinair gebied. Amuses heerlijk alle gangen van het diner en het dessert meer dan voortreffelijk. Een feestje was het. Komen zeker terug.

Great restaurant, great atmosphere and top food.

Had a nice evening with friends. Delicious food, especially the appetizers and the eggplant (signature dish). The interior was a bit disappointing (low) after the exciting high dark glass facade on the outside, but good atmosphere inside. The wine-food combinations were not always chosen happily (dessert wine was much too sweet). Service also a bit awkward, but all in all an asset to the Ouderkerk catering industry. In my opinion, the South African signature could be a bit more pronounced.

Het personeel in dit restaurant is uitermate vriendelijk. De avond begint met een rijke selectie aan amuses, gevolgd door heerlijke gerechtjes die allemaal een Zuid-Afrikaanse twist hebben. Bij een enkel gerechtje leverde dat bij mij een gefronsde wenkbrauw op, maar over smaak valt niet te twisten tijdens dit heerlijke dinertje.

We regularly eat at restaurants with a star, but Saam is certainly at or above that level!! Everything was good and tasty. Delicious appetizers and entrees. The 5 course menu was varied and balanced. Wines went well with it. Service was incredibly good and nice. Only 2 minor points: the sauce with the tuna was a bit too astringent/bitter for my taste. And the mustard with the lacquered eggplant is a bit too overpowering. Nevertheless, highly recommended!!

On a special family occasion, we enjoyed a very pleasant dinner at SAAM. The personal attention and tasteful decor made us feel immediately welcome and at home. The dishes with a South African touch were special as were the matching wines. Special mention for the drinks from the 0.0 arrangement, which were prepared with passion and matched the dishes very well. A big compliment to Margot Janse and her team! Baie Dankie!

Been to SAAM a few times and again food very good. My thoughts this time is that we were not given the option between the set menu or ala carte (or maybe I missed this). Personally I always prefer ala carte, but ok was still good. Sadly the SA white wine we ordered which was exceptional, was the last bottle. For this calibre restaurant I would expect to be informed upfront that this is the last bottle or take it off the menu until stock is replenished. Not a massive complaint but a note that I find annoying when ordering a wine and thoroughly enjoying it and looking forward to another bottler (there were 6 of us) then its disappointing to be told there is no more. At approx E180 pp its a special occassion restaurant.

Very nice atmosphere, good food and good service

After having lunch several times, we now had a fantastic afternoon at Christmas. Once again, all expectations were more than met. The food is top notch, so much attention to detail, creative dishes and consistently good quality. The bread with bacon bokking is alone the reason to go here! The wines from South Africa are delicious and well matched with the menu. Very knowledgeable and friendly service that makes you immediately feel welcome and that you have the feeling that you are making contact (instead of the stiff direction that many restaurants in this category have). It was a memorable Christmas!

Nice wines and good food, but still need improvement in the field of hospitality. We asked for bread to wipe up some sauce from the plate, and the four of us received 1 slice of bread. However, there was 20 euros worth of water and bread on the bill, very special. We then asked if they had a chocolate dessert, the host said they didn't. Later, when we saw a dessert that looked very similar, we asked one of the ladies about it. Turned out to be the signature chocolate dessert! Why then are we more likely to hear that there is no chocolate dessert? Not hospitable at all. Finally, at checkout they forgot to take the deposit off. All in all, there is a lot of potential in Saam, but they still have to take steps in terms of hospitality. Cheers!

Nothing but praise for the food, perfect and delicious. But unfortunately there are also some downsides, especially the service. The soft drink ordered never arrived, this was reported after 30 minutes when the dish was already finished. Extra fee of 5.00 per person on the bill for water and (yes) half a slice of bread, while this was indicated as included in the menu. Received the wrong coat up to 3 times upon departure. Interior is beautiful.

Nice private dining room upstairs where you can enjoy a multi-course dinner with your group. Sit at a luxurious U-shape bar which makes the setting very nice.

Had a delicious meal at Saam's. We opted for the chef's menu. After two delicious appetizers we were surprised with 2 delicious dishes. Beautiful plates with beautiful products and fantastic flavors. Then a sandwich with a tasty dip. The signature dish, eggplant. The main course was mainly focused on the tasty piece of deer. Past a beautiful cheese slice to the mango dessert. A beautiful evening with very good and attentive service. A small critical note is the acoustics, which could still be improved. And a taste thing, I expected more South African. It was now very subtle with all kinds of details, I think we could have gone a little more over the top with the beautiful animals, nature and iconic landscapes from South Africa

Had a lovely lunch today. During restaurant week we received a fixed menu, which we supplemented with delicious bites, such as a very tasty mushroom skewer. An irreverent term for a delicious appetizer. This was a harbinger for many more delicious dishes where salty, sour, sweet and crispy came into their own. And don't forget a nice combination of Dutch and South African cuisine. Service and explanation of the dishes was informal and informative. In short, a top restaurant close to home

Went to Saam for the second time, and wow, what a great evening we had! A real night out, close to Amsterdam. You enter a beautiful restaurant that has the right balance between the feeling of coming home, comfort and professionalism, but with a perfectly informal edge! Food was innovative, beautiful dishes but a good form of flavors and portions. Wine pairing, do do do! In addition to the delicious wine, you get a humorous and educational story about the wine, not about how it tastes, but what makes the wine so special! Koen, you made our evening even more beautiful. Acoustics, comfort and feeling of peace while eating! Recommended all the way! On Sunday afternoon we sat down for the Sunday roast and enjoyed the delicious food and beautiful wines. All dishes were delicious, from the bites to the dessert. I would love to come back for dinner sometime. Very attentive, knowledgeable service. One very small detail: even though we opted for accompanying wines with each course and Champagne beforehand, we were charged for two small carafes of table water. I don't think that's appropriate for a beautiful business like this.

SAAM is a wonderful restaurant with wonderful staff. Even the south African touches in the bathrooms are amazing. The food was all absolutely outstanding, and the SAAM tea cocktail is something I'd highly recommend before heading on to their curated wine list. We enjoyed the 4-plate menu and each course was just amazing. The sour dough with the haring butter is to die for and the sweets that accompany the coffee too. Being on the water in the Dutch "country side" is always a treat as well. Absolutely absolutely recommend this to everyone🙌

Beautiful place, on the Amstel. The food actually transports you to South Africa; high level. The reception was mediocre (there was running and there seemed to be no overview). We were put at the top of the bar with four people, which had little atmosphere. This was apparently normal, being placed there without consultation, with the result that you cannot talk to each other. It was eventually resolved, but it took a while and was not completely appreciated. Tip: when making a reservation, ask for a seat downstairs in the restaurant.

Tomorrow marks a week since we celebrated our husbands' 80th birthday. With dinner at SAAM. There is a relaxed, pleasant atmosphere. 5 course menu was delicious, many different flavors. Service was good, well explained about the ingredients and flavors. The wines, mostly African, paired well with the dish. We will definitely eat there again. Wil and Matty

Original and tasty dishes, beautiful place with a great location along the Amstel! Quite expensive and on the busy (Wednesday) evening we were there, the service seemed a bit disorganized.

Delicious lunch with a South African twist

We went for the Sunday Roast, the food was just amazing. I fell in love with the decor of the restaurant, so classy but funky. The Bloody Mary cocktail was the nicest I’ve probably ever had! Service was very good too, the lady who served us was so lovely and really made the experience all the better. Thank you! We will be back for sure, however, perhaps when the local road works are done as it was nearly impossible to get to the restaurant via public transport!
