Came in here twice with my gay boys, mind you I’m a lesbian and wanted to bring them here after going to a gay bar and bar hopping for the night…I had them go 15-20 minutes out of the way on our bar stops.. came in, it took at least 10 minutes to be helped, and they gave us nasty looks and weren’t at all responsive. It’s surprising because we came from Prik and other gay bars where they were more than happy to take care of us..and then came here, and it was almost as if we were an annoyance to them. I’m surprised this place is still open after snubbing us. Not very accepting of anyone outside of the L in the LGBTQ..considering the bartenders weren’t even remotely attractive enough to be acting like that. There’s a reason lesbian bars are dying in the community,..this might be why.

Don’t visit. We were refused entry more than an hour before closing “because last round”. Subtitle was we were men accompanying a lesbian friend. Discrimination and unfriendly staff.

Not recommended. I wanted to have a beer at 1 a.m., but upon entering, we had to leave because they were "almost closing." The place doesn't close until 2 a.m....not the queer space you'd expect.

I went with my girlfriend and the atmosphere was incredibly welcoming and genuinely wholesome. 💛 We had the most delicious hummus – usually hummus comes with a strong cumin flavour, but this one didn’t, which made it absolutely perfect. 🧆✨ The drinks were also very good. It’s a great spot for meeting new people, enjoying a fun night out, playing pool for free and gathering your tribe. 🎱🍹 Such a warm, community-feeling place. We will definitely be going back. 🌟

Not inclusive for those who belong to the community. We were asked to leave with no explanation after being inside for two minutes as we were just simply looking at the menu. No one even greeted us. How embarrassing of you. I feel sad for this place. It has build itself on the false idea of ‘inclusivity’ where it has simply gone ethically broke. So be aware before you come here: the way you look like must fit a certain way. How hypocritical! Anyway… we didn’t even question their decision. There is no need to continue paying attention or providing your hard-worked money for such establishement in this economy. Sashay away!

One of my favourite queer place in Amsterdam🌈

After the Pride March, I was glad to see that the returnable cups were being used. I just wasn't allowed to return my cups. This morning, I removed dozens of cups from the planters further down the street. So, I'm not happy as a neighbor. PS: I also had to clear our front door and bicycle shed of urine.

Great vibes even on a Thursday, early in the night. Bar was moderately full by 10, music is all the best gay anthems (inc. Supercut by Lorde...). Staff was super friendly and gave good recs.

Staff are extremely warm and welcoming and are a perfect fit for such a beautiful bar with incredible queer history. The display of inclusively from the venue and its staff made me feel safe and comfortable from the second I stepped in. And having come direct from the UK, that really meant a lot to me. So this is a queer bar, we walked in and immediately were told “so is this your first time here? This is a queer bar, this isn’t happening tonight.” We were then kicked out. Incredibly hypocritical. Would absolutely not go here. This is perhaps the most ridiculous experience I’ve had in a bar ever

I think Sarein is a very nice place, but as a Queer café you apparently only have to be friendly and inclusive to people from the LGBTIQ+ community itself. My straight male friends, gay friend and myself were treated to a bar person on my birthday with a look like: “There's another one of those.” And when in the hustle and bustle I forgot “Hi!” to say to the bar person, he rolled his eyes with a sigh and then said again, a little louder and a little more unfriendly, “Hi!” to call out to me. What's up with the attitude? If you feel that you are being shortchanged as bar staff, you can also say that in a different and perhaps friendly way, I think. I don't understand why you don't speak to your bar staff about this if you pretend to be inclusive. So avoid the dark and somewhat heavy bar person if you want to be treated kindly. I'm going to sit at home and cry for a while and call victim services.

Honestly the best lesbian bar in Amsterdam. Always a great atmosphere and the best people behind the bar. Come on Fridays or Saturdays and join the killer pool competition, even if you're by yourself you'll make friends easily here.

Great atmosphere and drinks here !

We wanted to get inside the bar yesterday, but it was super crowded - that's alright, it was pride & we waited in the queue until it was our turn. We were a group of four woman. The security were splitting up our group twice. Others could enter as a group, but we weren't allowed to even through they didn't wait as long as we did. He said it had to do with 'the behaviour' of our friend which didn't make sense because we just stood there and waited. Besides he was putting his arm in front of our friend's face to stop her from getting in while she basically just waited. All we wanted to do was buying a drink. We didn't feel welcome in a lesbian bar as lesbians specially with such securities at the front door.

I was trying to decide between here and another popular lesbian bar and I am so incredibly happy I chose this bar! I went on a Saturday night and didn’t realize there was a very important football game. The place was packed—standing room only. But, everyone was respectful and polite and a group of ladies welcomed me and made sure I felt included. It was an incredible experience! The bar vibe is down to earth, cozy, no frills, welcoming and social. I definitely felt at ease here. Great beers on tap and they have a small selection of liquor. Went back again on Sunday night to drink a beer, read a book, and escape the crowds! Highly recommend this place!

Delicious cocktails you can tell the bartenders really put in the effort to make it yummy. We got Moscow mules. There’s also a pool table downstairs. The space is not that large though.

Nice lgbtq+ bar for mostly women! Pool table, good selection of beer and nice intimate vibe. No dance floor, it is a place for connecting with others and have good conversations and fun over pool - often played so that everyone who wants can join! If you are queer and like to go to queer spaces, this is definitely on the “to do list” when in Amsterdam!

Friendly local bar. Could be a bit more clear about being lesbian, I’ve accidentally gone in several times before I knew. Don’t feel that’s really appropriate considering I do not the fit target audience, hope I didn’t make the regular clients feel uncomfortable.

awesome, quiet lesbian bar. Has a pool table, lots of seating, and a quieter upstairs with a washroom. Very kind bartenders with great drink recommendations. They make some cocktails upon request. Everyone here is very polite and respectful.

Really nice place with a great atmosphere located on a cosy corner between the narrow houses of Amsterdams. Incredibly sweet and welcoming staff who gave us great service, conversation and tips to the city. The specialty beers were great. Would love to come back someday!

Another Institution in the heart of Amsterdam! Super lovely stuff and atmosphere!

The Stonewall Inn of the Amsterdam lesbian scene, this is definitely a local spot for locals, close friends and couples - unless you muster up the courage to talk to some other patrons. It is the type of place where everyone seems to know someone. The bar is a cozy place with three stories. There’s a smoking room with pool downstairs, and an area upstairs where you can get lost talking for hours. Definitely add this to your Must-See LGBTQ tour of Amsterdam.
