Sabor Sabor in Delfshaven

I’ve been coming to Sabor Sabor for years now. It is still as tasty as the first time. As a Mexican it is one if these places that transports me back there. The enchiladas are the perfect balance of spicy and tangy. Just the way I would eat them in Mexico. Puebla, which consists on chicken with mole its a winner. Taste it’s perfectly balanced between spicy, sweet and acid. Simply delicious. Don’t miss on their vast selection of mezcales, tequilas, cocktails and soft drinks. You’ll find something to love. Finally, don’t loose the chance to feel pampered by their staff. The most caring, attentive and warm people possible.

Seemed like a winner from the reviews and photos, but unfortunately it was very disappointing. Dry Meuk. Everything was dry and little filling no taste. Way too expensive. That this guy calls himself a Mexican

A place when you can feel home. I love go there every time I have the chance, the food is super en the drinks are amazing.

I am only angry I didn't know of this place any sooner! The restaurant is small but very cozy. Staff is extremely friendly and their cocktails are one of the best in this city! Food absolutely delicious. We'll be back soon!!

Lovely, small, low-key family-run restaurant with different dishes than your standard Mexican restaurant. A nice range of Mexican craft beers. Good price/quality ratio, except for the desserts, which I found on the pricey side. This is the only reason why I have not given the food 5 stars, but everything was delicious. Do not skip the guacamole!

Nice little mexican Cantina with terrace. I recommend to reserve the table in advance. Last Saturday it was full! Although somewhat distant from downtown, it's well visited. Pleasant service, attended directly by the Mexican owner. Very nice guys from Colombia and Portugal. Well-made food and cocktails aswell. Prices unexpectedly high, but we had a nice dinner. Thanks!

Option to park in the road right in front of the restaurant. Great options of Tacos, Enchiladas, quesedillas. Staff are very hospitable. Cactus salad was an interesting starter to try out.

Heard lots of good things about the place but I think the small portions compared to the high price was quite disappointing, atleast in that case the food should be amazing but the beans, queso and pastor all felt like they lacked seasoning, maybe it was unlucky but it was not what I hoped for

As a Mexican I can say this is the closest to the real thing that I have tried outside of Mexico. Cocktails are a must.

Try a delicious authentic Mexican restaurant if you want real Mexican food

I KNOW THIS REVIEW COMES VERY LATE. MY WIFE AND I WERE IN ROTTERDAM IN OCTOBER OF 2019. IT SO HAPPENS THAT MY WIFE AND THE OWNER ARE FRIENDS FROM THEIR DAYS IN SCHOOL BACK IN MEXICO. WE LIVE IN MEXICO NOW AND IT WAS WONDERFUL BEING THERE IN THE FALL WITH THE LEAVES BLOWING AROUND. WHICH WE DON'T SEE IN MEXICO. THE FOOD WAS TO DIE FOR AND THE MARGHERITAS WERE FABULOUS. THIS IS A SMALL CORNER RESTAURANT WHICH ADDS A WONDERFUL ATMOSPHERE. THIS IS REAL MEXICAN FOOD, SO IF YOU ARE A GRINGO EXPECTING TEX-MEX IT AIN'T GOING TO BE THERE. WE WERE PLANNING TO COME BACK THE FOLLOWING YEAR, BUT COVID HIT AND RUINED EVERYTHING. WE HOPE TO BE BACK SOON.

This place makes me feel like I'm in Mexico 🥹♥️. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is very beautiful. 100% recommended if you want to try real Mexican food.

Excellent service and cozy atmosphere. I was a bit disappointed with the tacos de al pastor. I was expecting a vertical roll type of roasted pork. Their way to prepare seems different. They got the spices and the pineapple right but the preparation lacks the flavor and slices of a typical al pastor.

UPDATE: they got in contact with me and received the refund for my deposit. Thank you. _______________________________________ Original review: They ask for a deposit to book a table and at the end they don't refund it in the bill. We realized after we left the place, contacted them afterwards and haven't heard from them so far. It has been almost a month. If you book a table, check well for the refund at the end.

Sabor Sabor has a lot of potential, but unfortunately my experience was not up to the expectations. I chose the "3 dishes" menu which consisted in small portions of nachos, a small beans soup and a main dish with beans, rice and sauted peppers. It was all so simple, for what I paid I was expecting something more. The waiter was very friendly, but it took about 2hrs to be served. On the pro side: the place is lovely, homemade nachos&guacamole very tasty, and the drinks were also really good

Food was ok, i was missing a bit of spicyness and 1 of my 3 dish menu was just chicken with rice and beans, very home like food. It was not bad at all, but felt ok specially considering the price. The service was friendly and attentive. It did take a bit too long for the serving, we spent around 2 hours in a chill sunday lunch with only a couple more tables occupied. The place looks nice and drinks were very good 👍

(Honest) Mexican food as you would expect in Mexico. Unfortunately it was too busy and therefore the time between the different courses took too long. It was also not clear that the three-course menu did not include dessert and that it was all shared dining.

Good ambiance and nice margaritas on a quiet side street! Quality of the food could be improved (really disappointed with the quesadillas and the guac tasted like it was just crushed avocado, nothing else). The service could be improved as they got our order wrong.

Very nice atmosphere but the food and service is not worth the price. Would not be recommending to any peers, better stick to alternative spots that are worth the price when it comes to taste and service.

The cocktails are amazing! The free nachos and chilli sides were delicious… and that’s where is stops… the tacos were flavourless- my chicken was dry and served with a salad. My main of enchiladas was bland and soggy, covered in shredded lettuce, sour cream and feta - not typical Mexican food in my experience. The staff are friendly… I would recommend drinks there but that’s it.

Your friendly neighbourhood Mexican hang which does its bit to make suppers that much tastier! With wholesome food, wonderful drinks and warm hosts, this Mexican hole in the wall is a surprisingly heartening addition to the West Rotterdam food scene.

This place serves traditional and authentic Mexican food, which we liked! The 4-course menu includes taco & guacamole, soup, a main dish (we have chosen taco) and a dessert - enough to fill you up. The food was delicious and we enjoyed it all! Especially the soup and guacamole which were super fresh. The desserts seemed very sweet and the serving was a bit odd - but that's my personal opinion. The only minor issue is that we have initially ordered one menu and wanted to share it; however, the waiter didn't understand that, so we were served 2 menus and had to pay for both.

Recommended: Tell them it's your first time. They'll guide you through your order. Great horchatas, even better stews. Soul food 🥺

The top food, and the staff? Very kind and speak Spanish, therefore authenticity guaranteed. Finding such a genuine corner of Mexico in Rotterdam was a real surprise. Not to be missed!

A small and cozy place, the flavors are really from Mexico, they have a variety of Mexican beers, tequilas and mezcals, a gem in Rotterdam for those of us who miss tacos.

Excellent tacos. Family ambiance which at times can get a bit busy. But always ok to wait with a great margarita.

I had already been to this super nice restaurant a few times and decided to order online. However, half of the order had fallen over in the bag. I sent them a message and they responded very kindly the next day. I was allowed to collect my order again for free. Received a very polite apology and received a new order a day later.

Cozy restaurant with delicious authentic Mexican food. Ordered the surprise menu and we got nachos, soup and 6 types of tacos and of course those delicious merkitas. It may look a bit strange with the suspended ceiling, but it's good food🤩🇲🇽🌮

An extraordinary experience! Yesterday we celebrated Ana & Pip's wedding at the restaurant. The food on the menu was delicious and varied so that both Dutch and Mexicans could enjoy. The micheladas with Clamato and the margaritas, unmissable. The tacos are good, but could be improved in terms of flavor, although very well served. We are very grateful that they allowed us to choose the music for the event and dance without problems.

An example of how to live in Mexico. Thank you for maintaining the flavors and traditions. I greatly appreciate your work and dedication to offering the best of Mexican gastronomy in Rotterdam. Keep growing and perfecting your cuisine. The public is diverse, and has different tastes and preferences.

The tacos and quesadillas were cold and the beef was tasteless. Waiter was nice and place is cool though.

Food and drinks are very tasty. Food is prepared in traditional Mexican ways. If I am ever in the Rotterdam area again, I will definitely eat here again

Lovely little mexican place run by a sweet family and staff! Everything from the Michaladas to the meet in the tacos was great. The dessert - cheesecake and flan were fantastic too! It’s in a neighbourhood thats away from the centre and away feom the shopping district, but I wouldn’t mind going there again just for this. Parking is a struggle as all the alleyways are full of residential cars. Lastly, they don’t allow dogs as they have an open kitchen and the place itself is very small, tight and crowded when full.

Super leuk restaurant, met echt ontzettend vriendelijk personeel! We hebben heerlijk gegeten met zijn vijven en waren allemaal onder de indruk van de service & gezellige sfeer

Cozy and colorful. The best chunky guacamole with a little spice. Really tasty tacos and tamales. Tasty chips from yellow or blue corn or even green cactus (nopales). Delicious agua de tamarindo and horchata and desserts. Also they make a perfect michelada with Pacifico.

Fuimos a comer este verano porque nos lo habían recomendado. Fuimos a propósito hasta donde está ubicado (bastante lejos del centro, una media hora andando bajo la lluvia para ir específicamente a este lugar). Intenté ponerme en contacto con el restaurante por teléfono en diversas ocasiones pero nunca me lo cogían. Quise preguntar si eran petfriendly pero nunca llegamos a saberlo antes porque no cogen el teléfono. Al llegar al lugar nos dicen que sí son petfriendly pero que nos tenemos que sentar en la calle (lo cual no tiene ningún sentido porque en la calle puede estar cualquier persona y mascota), pero ya que fuimos hasta allí, accedimos a quedarnos a pesar de que nos tocó comer en la calle lloviendo y con frío. Dentro a penas había un par de comensales, y cuando estos se marcharon, tampoco nos invitaron a entrar dentro del local. Mi mascota no es ruidosa ni molesta, y tuvo que estar tumbada en el suelo mojado mientras nosotros comiamos. Por otra parte, la comida está bien. Pero el trato "petfriendly" que nos dijeron que tenían cuando llegamos hasta allí, dejo mucho que desear por su falta de coherencia. Aunque me gustó la comida, no lo recomiendo si vas con animales.

Great place to enjoy some Mexican food.

Was pretty disappointed trying this place for the first time. Two tiny tacos, barely any food, was 10 euro. The tortillas were cold and hard, they give you the fake dorito style tortilla chips with the smallest amount of salsa I've ever seen at a Mexican restaurant in my life. If you're from Mexico or anywhere with good Mexican food, you'll likely be disappointed. Two stars because the mezcalita and guacamole were decent, and you get real tortilla chips with the guacamole.

Cocktails waren lekker. Eten was flets, zat niet veel smaak aan. Toch wel leuk om wat andere dingen voorgeschoteld te krijgen dan gewend. Bediening was matig, drinken was vergeten maar kan gebeuren. Al met al het was prima maar ik zou niet nog een keertje terug gaan.

Vanmiddag zijn wij voor de tweede keer naar het restaurant voor heerlijke eten zoals bij de eerste keer maar het werd gauw een grote teleurstelling. Ik wou dat ik de meest recente reviews had gelezen voordat we gingen, dan waren we gebleven met een mooie herinnering van Sabor Sabor. Nu kunnen ze de naam veranderen naar De sabor nada. De tortilla’s waren kleiner geworden (wat schattig dacht ik toen ik ze zag) maar ze waren niet vers, voorheen waren de tortilla’s handgemaakt, warm en de tortilla al vanzelf was heerlijk. Deze waren droog en smaakten naar niks. Ik ben opgegroeid met maïs tortilla’s maar zelfs de tortilla’s van de supermarkt zouden beter smaken. Wij kregen helaas veel tortilla chips op alles terwijl wij expliciet gevraagd hadden om geen tortilla chips te serveren. Ik wil geen eten verspillen en ze eten was geen optie. Maar volgens de gastvrouw was dit niet mogelijk maar ze zou het doorgeven aan de keuken. Vervolgens bestelde we guacamole want de taco’s waren te droog en we kregen een mandje waar alleen de tortilla chips zichtbaar waren. Toen zei de gastvrouw de guacamole zit eronder 😒. Het eten duurde niet zo lang wat ik liever had gekozen als die lekker zou zijn. De koriander gaf het eten smaak want de rest was flauw en het vlees droog. Mexicaanse eten hoort te maken! De tamarindo limonade duurde lang om te maken en ik dacht het zal heerlijk zijn maar nee hoor, het was warm (kraanwater is kouder) en flauw van smaak, ik moest wachten tot de ijs de limonade zelf wat koud maakte. Bijna €5 voor een simpele drank en dat was de goedkoopste. Maar niet alles was slecht, de coctel was lekker en de gastvrouw was heel vriendelijk, vrolijk en deed haar best om de boel wat op te vrolijken want iedereen die in de keuken stond te werken keek sacherijnig eruit. Een paar jaren terug was het zeker een top restaurant maar nu was het een grote teleurstelling. HEEL JAMMER!

For a 4.4 rating I expected more, price to value ratio feels way off (10+EUR for 2 small tacos). Margaritas were the highlight of the night both real good. Service slow but OK. Overall recommend for drinks and not to dine here if you are after a fine culinary experience.

I will not add a different comment than the previous ones. The staff was awesome. Drinks were very good. Atmosphere is quite nice and I wanted to say the same for the food but couldn't. I will visit there again but only for Margaritas.

I really wanted to love this place. The food was amazing, the drinks were great, the atmosphere was beautiful, but the server was incompetent. She didn’t know what came with the 3 course meal. My table paid €180 for snacks.

Bij de eerste hap leek het net alsof ik terug was in Mexico!

Niet slecht.. lekkere drankjes. De drankjes hebbe een hele mooie prijs en zijn ook erg lekker Maar het eten is wel erg duur. De bediening laat zich ook best lang wachten met hef brengen van je drankjes. Dat zal wel met de drukte te maken hebben Wel een leuke tent om te zitten

De zaak is vol goede bedoelingen en dat voel je, maar toch viel te veel me te erg tegen. Voornamelijk chaotische bediening diende helft van de tijd geen idee had wat er gebeurde. Wat er voor wie was. Dat gasten servetten en bestek willen. Dat cocktails een half uur op zich laten wachten. Het eten was prima maar niet verrassend, het terras is rommelig. Ik denk niet dat ik er ooit nog eens terug kom. Er zijn aantrekkelijke Mexicanen in de stad.

Heerlijk gegeten, zit niet echt in het centrum maar is het zeker waard op op te zoeken!

Vriendelijk personeel. Maar het eten duurde allemaal vrij lang. Dit kwam door ziekte en personeelstekort. We hadden een reservering van 18.30 tot 20.30 uur en we moesten on 21.00 uur ergens zijn en het liep allemaal enorm uit. Waardoor we geen tijd meer hadden om het toetje te eten. Die hebben we in bakjes meegekregen, waarbij ze mij ook nog de verkeerde saus hebben gegeven. We hadden het vier gangenmenu genomen, wat bestaat uit guacamole met tortilla chips, een kommetje soep, drie enchiladas en een toetje. Daarbij hadden we beiden twee margaritas. De laatste twee drankjes waren ze vergeten en moesten we naar binnen om er naar te vragen. We waren in totaal meer dan 100 euro kwijt met zn tweeën. Het eten was lekker maar overal voor de prijs en service, het helaas niet waard.

Erg lekker eten, de smaak (sabor) is echt authentiek de Mexicaanse keuken. Matcht met onze herinnering aan onze trip in Mexico!

The food was very tasty, however the service was to cry for. The drinks took 2 minutes and they didn’t even bring everything and had to remind them about the two other drinks. Then we cancelled a drink and they still brought because the two waiters didn’t communicate. Furthermore we didn’t get any cutlery or napkins for our food. Lastly, we didn’t book a table in advance, so we only had 50 minutes until we had to leave the table, but out of those 50 minutes we waited about 30 for the drinks and food. And the people who did book the table were 20 minutes early so they waited at a bench literally 2 meters from us and they already got a drink card so it felt like we weren’t really welcome and they wanted us gone. But the food was good at least.

Waarschijnlijk onderbezet met 3 serveersters (verder wel hartstikke aardig) en een klein team in de keuken? Na 40 minuten hadden we pas een drankje. Rondom ons werden mensen compleet vergeten en gingen zelfs weg. Je moet zelf de bediening attenderen als je iets wilt anders krijg je gewoon niks. En dan wordt het alsnog deels vergeten. Zit geen lijn in. Eten was lauw. Een gerecht met pompoenbloemen was zo nat dat de taco’s aan het papier vastzaten en het bijna niet op te eten was. 1,5 uur op gewacht. Tafels worden pas afgeruimd na zeer lange tijd. Gevraagd om buiten te zitten een week van tevoren, hadden ze niet gezien ‘omdat er een ‘nieuw systeem’ was. Hebben hier eerder gegeten en toen was het wel top maar dit heb ik zo al heel lang niet meer meegemaakt en we gaan hier niet meer heen

Very nice place... food and drinks are great!

We went with a reservation on a Friday night at 7pm with 4 people. There was one lady serving everyone, so I think they were understaffed. She didn't speak great English or Dutch, she spoke Spanish. We ordered some dishes to share, the food was very nice. We also ordered tequila shots and cocktails, but they took 1h to arrive. She forgot the shots and one cocktail. We finished eating by the time the cocktails came, and other people around us also waited 45 minutes for a cocktail. It's a shame because it was very nice quality, if they know they're so understaffed they should communicate that cocktails are unavailable or reduce the amount of tables people can sit...

Loved the vibes and delicious drinks. The lady who resembles Salma Hayek was super friendly. The food was fresh and lovely, just not spicy enough for me but that's personal preference.

first of all, how they serve the food is a bit disappointing - tacos were served in dirty wooden baskets 😪 guacamole was tasteless and a very small portion. tortillas good but the meat and filling was dry and we needed to ask for additional salsas and we got a comment that they don't usually serve salsas for tacos. margarita's consistency and serving also left a lot to ask, also overpriced compared to the product itself. service was nice and helpful
