I really don't recommend it. Expensive and disgusting, and they make you wait 45 minutes for a dish that doesn't even fill you up. The food is expensive, disgusting, cold, and there's a hair in it. Sorry, but I don't recommend it. Run away! 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

We checked the reviews before going in, but even though only 3 or 4 tables were occupied, everything took a long time, and what arrived was simply cold! We were told there were gas problems. They did deduct one dinner from the bill and received an apology from the chef, but we wouldn't be returning. It's a shame, otherwise it looks quite cozy.

Very disappointing! We were eating in Satchmo last week. Food was cold and really not good, nothing special, but extremely overpriced. Tables were wobbly, the place feels run-down, not even the tap in the women’s restroom works. The one star is for the barlady (blue eyes, dark hair) She was super charming, made excellent off-menu drinks, and even gave us great tips around Amsterdam

My friend reserved Satchmo for his birthday dinner and it did not disappoint! The atmosphere was wonderful! We had a high top table by the bar. They had a nice wine list and a great drink menu. We started with their Pulled Pork Croquettes which we are still talking about. They were so delicious. For my main I had the Short Rib and it was also really good. Melted in your mouth good. Service was good and designed to allow you to enjoy your company and each course. Something for Americans to note.

Great restaurant. The food was well presented and ingredients well thought and perfectly combined for a burst of wonderful flavors to the pallette. The dj and the music was AWESOME!!!! We entered the restaurant to Luther Vandross "Glow of Love!!!" A true classic! Kamal, our server, gave us great service however it would help if there was a host and busser because as a server it's difficult to be amazing when you have to sit people and clean the tables all on your own while still serving. However, he made do and we were still pleased. But they could use more support staff.

Thought the negative reviews must be incidents. They are not. Had to wait for 2 hours for main course. Then when it finally came they only brought my wifes main course and forgot my mine. Asked two different waiters. They left and did not return. Then when we complained with the manager and told him we were going to leave all of a sudden my main course arrived, now 2,5 hours after the starter was served. We paid (not for my main course) and left. We have never experienced anything like this.

Great for lively evenings out, less suitable for a quiet dinner. I especially loved the fried cauliflower.

The service was long, dishes were ordered repeatedly. The main courses arrived an hour late. They made a mistake in our order, and the much-desired fries were missing. Finally, a waiter came and even offered a discount, which the restaurant manager, after specifying that they had told us about the discount, said when we paid, 20 euros less, as if we were begging. Strange place.

We were sitting at a bank and the worker invited us to drink something. We did not habe money so he gave us a cacao for free. All in all the cafe is pretty good and has nice service.

Nothing is explained about the food and drinks. The food didn't arrive at the same time, and the squid was rock hard. Not recommended. It seems like they can't handle the crowds. 1 word: chaotic.

Absurd door policy by a group of overzealous, bored bouncers. I was about to be turned away until my beautiful female companion arrived. Then, suddenly, I was allowed in. Loud place with a vulgar crowd in expensive clothes.

Great service! We didn't have a reservation and were warmly welcomed by Kamal, who served us on the terrace and quickly arranged a table for us inside. We had a delicious meal! Fantastic!

It was a mixed experience. Didn’t have a reservation so were sat outside which was fine. Kamal was our server and he was great, very attentive. Food was fantastic. Where it was let down was, we asked if any tables freed up inside if we could move in as it was quite cold and the heaters didn’t work. Apparently no tables freed up but when I went to the bathroom there was probably 20+ seats available. Quite poor in that regard

His energy was warm, genuine, and so attentive the entire night- the kind of service that makes you feel like you belong. We ordered five dishes to share, and each one was full of intention and flavor: • Gumbo – a rich, savory start with deep flavor • Eggplant – perfectly crispy outside, tender and flavorful inside, surprisingly one of our favorites! • Sea Bass – fresh and light, though a bit more subtle • Short Rib – melt-in-your-mouth tender, deeply satisfying… a must-have! • Octopus – beautifully plated and deliciously seasoned Kamal made our last night of a 12-day Europe trip unforgettable. He elevated the entire experience, and the food was the cherry on top. Thank you for making our final night in Amsterdam so special. We’ll be back!

My go-to place in Amsterdam! Incredibly delicious food, great atmosphere, and delicious cocktails.

The place is nice; we sat inside and had brunch. We felt that if they charge a price per person, they should either give us two desserts (since we were given only one to share) or include a drink. The cocktails were good, but unfortunately, the waiter kept disappearing, and we had to ask the bartender for things. He always pointed out that he was 'just the bartender,' when serving a bit of water takes no effort. This clearly showed that the division of tasks among the staff was not working well.

The food I ordered was okay (we ordered seafood). The vibe of the place however is great and clearly the bartender is an expert. The drinks (even non-alcoholic) were delicious and so well crafted.

Despite our name being in the system, it took some back-and-forth with different staff members before we were seated. We felt a bit rushed throughout the meal, which made it hard to fully enjoy the experience. Not sure if this was due to the earlier confusion or just the general atmosphere. The food was good, but there’s definitely room for improvement. Overall, an okay evening, but not quite what we had hoped for.

We walked into Satchmo just looking for a quick drink before dinner—but ended up staying way longer than planned. The place itself is beautiful, with a stylish atmosphere and a great energy, but what really made the experience special was Anna. She came over with such a calm, confident presence, and somehow managed to convince us (without trying too hard!) to go for the XXL Pornstar Martini. Let’s just say… she was right. It was fun, over-the-top in the best way, and surprisingly delicious. Anna was friendly, professional, and genuinely seemed to enjoy connecting with people. She made us laugh, gave great recommendations, and created one of those small unexpected moments that stay with you. Would absolutely go back—and next time, we’re staying for dinner too.

So me and my wife grabbed a seat at Satchmo for the first time , with the idea of drinking a couple of beers. There we met Anna, this very passionate lady who changed our mind into ordering some of the best cocktails that I’ve tried for the past few months. The service was amazing and the vibes just out of this world!! Me and my wife would recommend to visit Satchmo and maybe consider Anna’s suggestions too!

I have to admit I was a bit hesitant at first — the location is right in the center, so I worried it might be a tourist trap. But I was pleasantly surprised! The food was genuinely delicious, the cocktails were well-made, and the staff were super friendly. On top of that, the interior is stylish and inviting. Definitely a spot I’d recommend — great experience all around!

Turned up for AMEX dining for 2, was told at the entrance they cancelled the reservation, despite a confirmation email 2 days before and a call 2 hours before arrival to confirm! Poor form guys!

I celebrated my birthday here, and it was a complete disaster. I had a table booked for 10 PM for a group of six friends. My plan was to enjoy the evening with cocktails, lots of delicious appetizers, salads, and everything the menu had to offer. To my shock, when we arrived at 10 PM sharp, we were told the kitchen was already closed. The only food available was some basic snacks like bitterballen, fries, olives, and bread — clearly not enough for a group dinner. No proper food, no explanation, and definitely nothing close to what I expected when making the reservation. We each had one cocktail, and then we were told we could order just one last round — even though the place was supposed to be open until 1 AM. Instead, they started closing at 11:30 PM, turned off the music, switched on the lights, and told us we had to leave. What was supposed to be a joyful birthday celebration turned into an evening of frustration and disappointment. I left with a ruined mood and honestly felt like crying. I would not recommend this place to anyone. They completely ruined my celebration, and I’ll never go back.

Made use of the Dining for 2 promotion from American Express. Choice of two starters and two main courses. We chose the Yellowfin Tuna Tartare and the Short Ribs. We opted for an oyster tasting beforehand. Delicious food, good service with a super nice waitress, great evening.

TL;DR: Great food and a warm welcome, but inattentive service and poor handling of mistakes let down our experience. We booked our recent dinner here through the American Express dining programme. The evening started nicely—the host was friendly and quickly showed us to our table. And honestly, the food was fantastic; every dish we tried was genuinely delicious, no complaints there. But the service wasn’t as smooth. Our server started by offering to pour water, but then placed the bottle awkwardly far from us. After waiting for a bit, I got up and poured it myself. The server noticed and apologised, yet somehow kept forgetting again, leaving me refilling glasses myself throughout the night. We had a two-course menu and also ordered an extra dish to have between courses. After finishing our first course, the server asked if we wanted another wine. We said we’d order shortly. Instead, another staff member unexpectedly brought our main courses. When we pointed out the mix-up, they quietly took the plates away without explaining anything. Even though we tried to get their attention afterwards—they were serving nearby tables and clearly saw us waving—they just didn’t react. Ultimately, we sat there with empty wine glasses for nearly half an hour. Eventually, I went up to reception. Two employees were already discussing our table, and it turned out our original server had made a mistake with the order of the dishes. They openly admitted their error but didn’t offer any apology or explanation. I asked for the wine card to order the next wines. After that, things went better, aside from our second wine arriving late—after we’d already finished the extra dish we’d ordered. Also, unlike with our first wine, they skipped the tasting and brought our glasses already filled. Overall, amazing food and a great initial impression, but unfortunately the inattentive and awkward service took away from what could’ve otherwise been a great experience.

Beautifully decorated interior, a bit on a darker side. Perfect for those romantic, mysterious and discreet setting. Service was good, attendants were friendly though nothing over and beyond. Food is acceptable, but portion is rather on the smaller side, price to quality ratio left nothing to be desired. Overall, an enjoyful visit, though specifically targeted for tourists and a bit overpriced for what you get.

Never again this restaurant.. Service was below par for this level of restaurant. Everything takes an awfully long time. No attention for us, only for a bunch of important people for whom everything had to be arranged down to the last detail. Steak well done instead of medium rare. Second time just the same. Just meat thrown on a plate. Lots of arrogance, no customer friendliness. Spent €350 and couldn't even get a 'thank you for coming'. Except 1 employee. The nice young man from Venice. He had a nice chat with us. Cheers to him, and keep up your education in economics.

We visited Satchmo as Belgians looking for a nice place to have a drink and a burrata, and we were absolutely impressed! The atmosphere and decor are just wauw—so stylish and welcoming. The staff were incredibly friendly, especially Amire, who made our experience even better with such kind service. A perfect spot to relax and enjoy great food and drinks. Highly recommend!

They don’t check any reservations made by guests and notify that the kitchen is closed when you come at the reserved time.

Waiter was really nice, but… we had the bottomless brunch and the food was really not enough. Super small portion to share with 5 people?! Price-quantity wise just really not in proportion. A bit of a disappointment…
