What a good and pleasant restaurant this is! Nice staff, delicious food, surprising wines, beautiful surroundings.

Starters top! Beautiful bread too! Main course Turbot... for 2 or 3 people... That was a very "nouvelle cuisine" portion... Nice wine list... Tasty cheese...

I hadn't been in a while, but the food was still as good as I remember. The wines selected by the sommelier were delicious and paired perfectly with the dishes. The service is good with a lot of personal attention. For those interested: there are even high chairs!

A "hidden gem". Top location, good food and friendly service!

Tuvimos una cena encantadora aquí y volveríamos. La diversión fue encantadora y también lo fue el Steak Tartar. El servicio fue excelente y muy amable. Entonces, ¿por qué 3 estrellas? Pedimos el Entrecôte y lo habíamos solicitado medio. Estaba cocido. Esa ni siquiera fue la peor parte, el filete era duro como las uñas y casi no era comestible. Dejamos la mitad sin comer porque parecía que estábamos mascando chicle. Todas las demás entradas eran buenas, pero un filete de 57€ debería ser de muy alta calidad y simplemente no lo era. Aparte de esa gran señorita, fue una noche encantadora. No queríamos quejarnos porque estábamos con la familia, pero fue decepcionante y sugerimos saltarnos el entrecote. Por cierto, pide los bombones. ¡Eran una bomba!

Good wines, tasteless and irrelevant food put together in a dish. First dish was based on purple potato, second on fish and third on deer. Usually these type of restaurants (very expensive, tiny portions, set menu) have at least a good dessert; unfortunately here this was a disappointment (red wine sorbet with walnut cake). As a cherry on the top, I ordered a Negroni and it was pretty bad, they didn’t even know that you have to add an orange slice and not lemon… 🤯

In december dit restaurant zakelijk bezocht met een gezelschap van 30 man. Het eten was heerlijk, alles was zeer verzorgd: zowel de opmaak van de borden als de algehele service. De lijst met allergieen die we aangeleverd hadden werd aan het begin van de avond nogmaals gecheckt en zelfs tijdens de maaltijd werd er door de bediening meteen ingesprongen als iemand aangaf liever iets anders te eten. Er werd geen enkele moeite gespaard om het ons naar de zin te maken. Een dag na ons bezoek bleek dat er een fout was gemaakt met de factuur in ons nadeel en er werd meteen aangeboden dat recht te zetten. Complimenten voor dit geweldige restaurant: voor het eten, de presentatie, de service en de correctheid! Een aanrader!!

Small, considered and well executed menu — every dish (beef tartare, chicken skin, perch, venison, beef) across every course was a winner. Hard to find that level of consistency. Atmosphere was relaxed and cosy. Our waiter was friendly and helpful, recommending us a great wine. Would love to go back in the summer, can imagine the views across the water are stunning.

Incredible rats, deposit fine, but if 1 of the 5 is not possible, and not taking this part off the bill is too bizarre for words. It is already pricey to go out to eat at all, I think 100pp, but to then give this as an extra financial kick is inhumane. (And the final amount was already well above the initial down payment) Absolutely avoid!

Last Sunday wine tasting Scheepskameel, top German wines!! We were spontaneously invited to join this special evening where German wines took center stage. We were very impressed, the different Riesling wines, excellent!! We will come back soon to get to know this pearl of Amsterdam better.

They were able to accommodate us on a busy night without reservations. Outstanding service and great food! Definitely will be back!

I think I ate at least 20 times. 19x good, especially in combination with the wines. The last time was really a big disappointment. The menu design is different. Wine arrangement outside the menu not possible. No refined flavors, for example, there was far too much coriander seed in one dish. I promised my table companions fresh madelaines... also not fresh. What happened? New owner?

Outstanding experience at the great harbor in Amsterdam. Have to compliment on their professional personnel who paid much attention to all guests but weren’t intrusive. We had peppers, lobster tail and big grilled seabass. The lobster was fresh and delicious, with nice creamy sauce. Seabass was quite big (800g) but kept its delicious taste and wasn’t overloaded with spices or anything. Were surprised by their selection of wines and friendly prices (6-9 euro per glass). They serve German wines only, so pay attention if you like it. Finished with a small tarteletter with raspberry. Great atmosphere.

Prima gegeten maar de extra waardering is voor de bediening. Zo vakkundig! Een van onze gasten had vertraging maar zat nog geen twee minuten voor hij ook een aperitief kreeg en onze glazen werden bijgevuld. Dat stond niet op de rekening. Goede adviezen bij de wijnkeuze en steeds weer attente bediening. Het was ook daarom een fantastische ervaring

Great service unfortunately cannot save a restaurant when the food being served is mediocre. We ordered the chefs menu last night and were left hugely unimpressed with every course. The worst of Dutch cuisine.

A trendy restaurant with some creative ideas and good execution. It is casual and cozy but also enough of a fine dining destination to make you want to return for a new experience the next time. The German wines are excellent and pair well with the light dishes. Staff is young and friendly though they rotate around in a rather amusing chaos that reminds me of a casual izakaya in Tokyo.

Scheepskameel ofrece una increíble selección de vinos alemanes y hacen un excelente trabajo de maridaje. Fuimos por el arreglo de vino de rango de precios “más bajo” que no decepciona, entre otros nos sirvieron un increíble Riesling zilchy de viñedo Riffel. He estado aquí un par de veces y el sabor de la comida y el vino permanece fresco en mi memoria durante meses. El ambiente de este antiguo comedor marino es agradable, a pesar del gran espacio el ruido de fondo es un zumbido agradable. En comparación con otros restaurantes el precio - calidad es muy razonable.

Very nice location with incredibly nice staff. They have a good chef's menu and help you very well with delicious matching German wines. The price is also good for what you get. Definitely recommended to go.

A wonderfully light restaurant by the water. A fantastic selection of German wines introduced by a great team who could not be faulted . Gentle Spanish tapas of Iberico ham and Padron Peppers. Delicious cold sharing plates of tomatoes, mackerel, cauliflower and beetroot lentils a Nordic vibe. The red current tartlets were very accomplished but the prunes with colostrum ice cream didn’t really add much except shock value. It was the main courses of veal and sea bass that proved a disappointment. Tough veal?? And undercooked sea bass that had to be prised from the backbone

Locale molto originale e poco turistico. Sì mangia molto bene ed ha un’ottima carta dei vini. Piatti elaborati senza esagerazioni. Consigliato anche se mi sarei aspettato piatti tipici della tradizione olandese che però non ho trovato, forse per mia incapacità forse perché non c’erano.

The staff at Scheepskameel are super friendly. When the weather is nice, be sure to enjoy an aperitif on the terrace! I had 3 different excellent white wines, all recommended by the staff. The restaurant is super nice and there is a pleasant atmosphere. The food was very good, I was missing some contrast in consistency or acidity, but generally I ate very well. Thanks for the nice evening!

Last Friday we had dinner at this restaurant with a group of three people. We had made a reservation in advance for four people and paid a deposit of €35 for everyone. Unfortunately, one person had to cancel at the last minute. We reported this neatly upon arrival, and it was indicated that this was no problem. Everything seemed to go well during dinner, but when paying it turned out that the deposit had only been deducted for three people. This came as an unpleasant surprise. We discussed this with two ministry employees, but they did not respond to our objections. They stood their ground, despite the fact that we had reported on arrival that we were one person less. This is a situation we have never experienced before, and it put a damper on what could otherwise have been a successful evening. Despite the delicious food and pleasant atmosphere, there is still a bitter aftertaste because of the way this was handled. It's a shame that little things like this can spoil an evening of dining out.

Leuk restaurant! Goede bediening! Helaas valt wat aan tafel wordt geserveerd tegen ondanks het perfect gratis brood. Voorgerechten waren wel verrassend maar er wordt veel grof zeezout gebruikt dat niet bij iedereen in smaak valt! Er is geen keuze aan bijgerechten en de entrecote met chimichurri saus en groene gemengde bladsalade is erg karg.

Inderdaad zeer goede wijnkaart. Eerst even buiten een drankje gedaan (helaas wordt het dinner niet buiten geserveerd) wel het aperitief en je kan je dessert ook buiten geserveerd krijgen. We nemen het 4 gangen verassingsmenu helaas viel dat behoorlijk tegen. Totaal niet verassend en niet heel goed behalve het hoofdgerecht. Dus 3 matige gerechten en 1 goed gerecht in het menu. Bediening gaf bij uitleg van een gerecht aan dat het gerecht met peterselie gedecoreerd was, helaas na een hap bleek het koriander te zijn en dat smaakt bij mij naar zeep. Dus niet echt lekker. Dit aangegeven bij de bediening en een sorry gekregen "dit is niet de bedoeling", en daarmee was het voor de Scheepskameel afgedaan. Prijs kwaliteit verhouding vinden wij niet correct. Brood en tafelwater gratis dit dan weer wel goed. Maar als Euro 275,- betaald voor een avondje uit verwachting ik wel meer ervaring dan dat we gekregen. Kwaliteit met echt omhoog of te prijzen moeten naar bijgesteld worden naar beneden.

We were impressed by the very friendly and knowledgeable staff advising us about food and wine. That alone is already a reason to come back. The food was a solid 8 out of 10 with very good flavours and nice presentation. Nothing exciting going on though and no dish surprised us except for the starter with smoked cheese. Very nice location with a view.

Very special location, located on the (old) naval site. Special tasty dishes, staff really do their best, super cozy atmosphere. Quite pricey. But… recommended as far as I'm concerned.

First time at Scheepskameel, definitely not the last. Not as pricey as I thought with a €55 4 course chefs menu. We have enjoyed a la carte: oysters, fish croquettes, steak tartare, asperges, shared main course dorade and beef filet, and as a last dish black pudding with brain of veal. All of an impeccable taste and paired with the right German wines. The crew is very knowledgeable and hospitable. Take note that the main course only comes with a small salad so best to order rösti to complement it.

Ate here yesterday with my wife, super attentive service and good explanation about the dishes and wine. Both ate the same 4 courses à la carte, first course the raw fish, super fresh and tasty, second course Dutch asparagus with grirolles, also very tasty, and then as main course the entrecôte with watercress salad and marrow-based sauce. Sauce very tasty, the watercress salad was made very simply with a vinaigrette and consisted mainly of purple mizuna with a little watercress, no potatoes or flour. The entrecôte, however, was very disappointing, tough, dry and little taste. Indicated this to the operator and the reason was said that this was due to the dry-aged process. Hmmm, too bad, I have eaten dry-aged beef before and it was definitely not dry, tough and tasteless. Then finished with cheese, tasty but not special. All in all we had a nice and enjoyable evening, but apart from the 2 starters it was a bit disappointing.

Amazing place! We opted for chef's menu and I highly recommend, it was only 55€ which is what you'd pay most of the timr wherever you go in Amsterdam. My highlights were the seabass & dessert with raspberry and Rhubarb. Very extensive wine list, all German which is interesting! We told our server our price range and the sort of wine we'd like & he chose two really perfect bottles for us. It was really 11/10!!

Fantastic service, great food and wines.

Oude scheepswerf op het voormalige marineterrein. We beginnen lekker buiten met een aperitief met een glaasje bubbel met wat ham en paddestoelen. Lekker maar gezien de prijs van de bubbel wel een erg klein glaasje. Binnen grote zaak met hoog plafond. Ondanks de drukte vind ik het geluidsniveau acceptabel. De Duitse wijnkaart erg uitgebreid. Mooi complete wijnkaart. We nemen het viergangen verrassingsmenu en die viel tegen. Start met voorgerechtje met groene tomaat en groene asperges en gerookte forel begint goed met mooie frisse tonen. Het krokantje erop had voor mij niet gehoeven. De aubergine met kreeftenjus begrijp ik niet. Het zompige van de aubergine met de jus vind ik geen goede keus. Het vleesgerecht met kalfsgebraad heel lekker maar het vlees is gewoonweg taai. Heel jammer. De kazen zijn lekker en de wijnen worden gewaardeerd. De bediening lekker los en attent. Brood en water gratis wat een pluspunt is. Prijs/kwaliteit moet omhoog.

Fantastic food, drinks, and atmosphere! The staff were incredibly kind and obliging; they had excellent knowledge of wines that they would recommend for dishes. They had a truly excellent selection of wines from Northern Europe. Everything we ate was delicious, but the highlight of the meal was the lamb shoulder. We were so full we could barely move, but the espresso-vodka sorbet gave us the boost we needed to get home! We spent roughly €150 on our meal, which included a few drinks each and multiple courses. I think this was very fair pricing for the quality.

The Scheepskameel is located in a historic part of Amsterdam, next to the Lands Dok. (I looked up the meaning) A spacious restaurant where we had an excellent meal. From the oysters to the dessert! Life music by various quartets. It was an amazing, once in a lifetime celebration! Park in the (pre-reserved) parking garage or come by bike!

Price-quality slightly out of proportion. Food delicious, wines ditto, but over 220 euros for 2 people all in was on the pricey side. For that you would be better off eating somewhere else.

We came to eat here on the recommendation of a person in his 60s, and now that was clear upon arrival, very stiff staff, no explanation when serving food, had to ask the host who walked by what was actually on my plate. The person who served the wines knew a lot but also came across as very stiff and uninterested. Of all the courses, the mackerel with kumquat was the tastiest, but the rest was not interesting or tasty. When I left, I looked back and if you look at the type of guests inside, it was mainly over 50. Certainly not worth repeating.

What a disappointment. Many positive reviews and a beautiful location, but the surprise menu was very disappointing. That applied to all corridors. Simple basic dishes, nothing more. Apparently the kitchen didn't have too much time, so the surprise menu customers are the Sjaak. My tip is go for the map. Service a bit arrogant. Fortunately, the company made up for a lot.

Very disappointing. Have eaten her 5 years ago and it was great, but now nothing compared anymore to what it was. Food was really well below expectations, raw mackerel without any taste, main course meat and heart were just gross, and dessert was just some simple ice cream. Waiters didn’t seem to care about us, we frequently had to walk over to waiters ourselves to order drinks, and when we asked which wines would go well with each course, they simply said they had no clue. Would not recommend, and am definitely not going back. Real shame!

Once more a fantastic dinner Edit: Updated from 4 to 5 stars.Second time we went here was significantly better (and more fun) Old: Was expecting better for this price level. Don't get me wrong the food tasted really good all the German wines were excellent. I was just missing the sizzle and creativity in the dishes. It wasn't in the taste and not in the products used, just think that at other restaurants in Amsterdam for the same price you can expect to get more creativity and flair in the presentation and overall service. In a sense the overall German theme was reflected in the dishes and the service as it felt reserved and conservative.

I loved this restaurant. Local products, Dutch cuisine elevated and fresh seasonal dishes. We didn’t order anything specifically and the chef made for us the menu. I enjoyed a lot being surprised and this place has changed my idea of Dutch food, when made with love it’s definitely really good! I will definitely come back and I have already recommended this restaurant to family and friends.

Honestly, I didn’t have a “wow” or “amazing” feeling when I had my dinner at Scheepskameel. But I enjoyed my time and environment and finished a whole bottle of wine without noticing and the time went so fast during the dinner. I think it is just called good enjoyment at the food restaurant and good food. I have constantly thought about taste of the steak I had after two weeks of my first visit at scheepskameel. I will come back !!!! In addition - they have best beef tartaar I had so far.

Had a nice meal at Scheepskameel. There is something for everyone. The dishes excel in simplicity and taste. The wine list is extensive and has some nice references. It remains a noisy environment to eat in.

Spot on again!! The people who work there all clearly enjoy and know what they serve. Food is great and the mega wine list from Germany is very surprising. This was the second time we have been here, where you can often be a little disappointed the second time if the first time was so good, but they even managed to surpass it.

Very good service and atmosphere. Great choice of wines, with some very good suggestions for each course. Food was well prepared but lacked a bit finesse, especially for a chef’s menu.

Delicious food. I told them that I am a vegetarian, but I eat through food. It would have been nice if I had gotten something to eat with the main course. Now only eat vegetables. Everything was tasty, but I'll remember for next time. Madeleines also delicious!

I'm not going to talk about the food so much because I agree with most other reviewers who say it was very good. I had a lovely meal here last night (Friday). We booked a table for 6.30 (it was busy) but we left at 9.20 and no one asked us to leave or hassled us to clear the table. The room is large but the acoustics were good - I could hear my partner and not the table next to me. The bread was delicious and I think they filled up our basket 3 times! The service was excellent - probably the most impressive part of the evening. The staff were friendly and attentive. They were there before we realised we needed them. The table water was filled without asking. My napkin was folded whilst I went for a wee! I asked for a coffee and they brought me a delicious black coffee (and not a long list of fancy coffee choices) that was a refreshing change. We had the chef's 'surprise' menu. I don't like fish and they said "no problem" they replaced the mussels with a different course for me. Basically I would not hesitate to recommend this to a friend and I'd be happy to return. 150 euros (for 2) including good wine and coffee. Well worth it for a lovely night out.

Hoge verwachtingen na alle goede reviews, helaas niet helemaal waargemaakt. Chef's menu was zeer wisselvallig met een lekker voorgerecht van makreel, gevolgd door een toast met champignons (prima, maar niks bijzonders). Hoofdgerecht was wild zwijn (gewoonweg taai). Kaasplank was lekker, toetje met pruimen en yoghurt ijs ok. Al met al geen spectaculaire culinaire ervaring. Onze wijnen waren gelukkig wel goed. Scheepskameel heeft een geweldige Duitse wijnkaart en personeel heeft veel kennis in huis, maar voor het eten zou ik hier niet terugkomen.

Exactly what we wanted with my friends. Food is very good, thanks to the waiters for the recommendations! Beef tartare, gnocchis and the lamb shoulder... MERCI Very good food and service! Also thanks to the sommelier for the wine he chose, he listened to us and that was perfect.

Super lekker eten, en misschien nog wel lekkerdere wijnen! Wij hebben eigenlijk niet naar het menu gekeken, maar gingen gelijk voor de chefs choice, dat is een 4 gangen menu, waar je wordt verras door de chef met een combinatie van gerechten van de kaart, en die niet op de kaart staan. Tussendoor kan je nog kiezen om een kaasplankje te doen. Vriendelijk personeel, en zijn zeker snel, maar niet per se meest hartelijk. Verder is het ook echt aan te raden gewoon de bijpassende wijnen te laten schenken, dit was echt fantastisch (10 euro per glas wijn is de goedkoopste optie, en vonden wij echt geweldig). Favoriete gerecht was de kalfstong en entrecote. Zeker nog een keer heen!

Great friendly service and amazing wine list. The staff members were very attentive and gave great wine recommendations. We both got the chefs menu. The food was very mediocre, not what we expected from such a restaurant. It was nice, but nothing special.

De bietjes en de gefrituurde bloemkool waren lekker. Een schijf pompoen als hoofdgerecht vond ik zelf niet zo geslaagd. Onze tafelheer stond garant voor supergoede wijnkeuzes. Sla de kaas maar over. Direct door naar de heerlijke madeleines met sabayon. Fijne sfeer, leuk personeel, goede akoestiek voor zo’n groot pand.

Verleden week geweldige avond hier gehad. Perfect qua smaak met bijbehorende wijnen. De introductie van elke gang was vakkundig en mooi. Deze mensen verstaan hun vak! 💕

A good restauy at an i Teresating location. The restaurant is located on the grounds of the former marine base , easily reachable from the center as well as from the direction of the maritime museum. The menu is not large , it is good , the "surprise" chef menu didn't change much from a previous visit. Well prepared but not outstanding. Long wine list of only German wines, our German visitors were impressed. Professional service.

Food and atmosphere incredible. Unpretentious fine dining. Absolutely loved it Service some of the best I've had in the Netherlands for coeliac. Called me before to ask questions about my level of coeliac, then recognised me immediately on arrival and had gluten free options for everything. They were also delicious!

Great location, bad acoustics. The German wine menu is impressive and staff knowlegable. But hey it's 2023 and they offer 1 vegetarian option for starter and 1 main course. The waiter was also embarrassed and suggested that she could offer dishes without the meat or fish... It's not that we are somewhere on the country side. This is the capital where there are plenty of vegetarians and vegans. The main course (roasted eggplant with yoghurt and tomato sauce) was far too simple for the price. Would only come back if they would radically change their menu.

Due to the many good recommendations we became aware of the restaurant and were thrilled by the atmosphere and the location directly on the water. We all took the menu. It was delicious, but somehow we expected something more extraordinary. We liked the appetizers and desserts, but unfortunately the main course was actually quite uninspired and did not please all of us. On the other hand, the service was extremely nice and the wine list was super. In addition, dogs were allowed. For the mood, the ambience and the beautiful outdoor terrace, I would definitely come back, but this time with somewhat lowered expectations concerning the menu.

Unparalleled service, great staff. AMAZING wine menu with superb advice. I've dined here many many times and it absolutely never disappoints. The raw fish courses are delicious and their specials are always a big treat. What are you waiting for? Go!
