This place is a special restaurant for special occasions. Dress up and be the special one for the day! Secret Garden was secretly hiding beautiful decor and garden behind the closed door. The first room as you enter is dimly lit bar area. As you walk past the bar area, the very green and semi-outdoor garden welcomes you. They offer Japanese-themed cuisine, which were fusion-style. Ceviche was really good also. I would define as Europeanized Japanese food. 😉 every dish was well-plated, and we enjoyed every dish for its appearance and taste. Service was also excellent. And the manager and the server were kind and friendly. Oh, and the live music (lady singer) was an additional bonus to the whole experience!

We visited Secret Garden on a Sunday without a reservation. The conservatory and the garden were completely full, but fortunately, there was still room at the bar. In hindsight, I am actually glad about that, because the bar has a very different atmosphere: intimate, romantic, and with a luxurious nightclub vibe. A bit too dark; I couldn't read the menu without a flashlight. Personally, I would even be disappointed if I had had to sit in the conservatory. It is much brighter and busier there. The garden would also be nice if it stays summery and sultry in the evening. The food is the same in both spaces and truly delicious. The sharing concept is perfect: with three small dishes per person, we had more than enough. The cocktails are also fantastic. I had wanted to go here for a long time, and when we happened to walk past, we took our chance. There was live music! The place is beautifully decorated, and the staff looks stylish and well-groomed in black attire. English is the main language, which fits perfectly with the international character of the restaurant. Our waiter, Juan from Colombia, was particularly friendly. He spontaneously struck up a conversation with us and provided warm, relaxed service. Alexandra from Italy was also friendly, although a small disagreement arose. She topped up a wine glass with wine from a different bottle after the first one was empty. My friend pointed out to her that in a restaurant of this caliber, it is better not to mix two different bottles in the same glass, as the taste and experience can differ. She admitted herself that she was annoyed by this. Hopefully, it is something she will take into account for the future, because such small details make all the difference in a gastronomic establishment. We ourselves were not really dressed chicly, even though I actually think that is appropriate for a restaurant like this. Interestingly enough, quite a few guests were walking around in ordinary jeans and T-shirts. I found that a bit of a shame, because in my opinion, the beautiful decor and the exclusive atmosphere deserve a slightly more festive dress code. Despite that detail, we had a fantastic evening and I will definitely be back.

The atmosphere is spectacular, the food is excellent, and the service is a 10/10. The staff who served us were incredibly attentive, friendly, and very professional. I highly recommend it.

Our waiter didn’t check on us once to see if we needed anything through the entire meal and another guy who came to take the order asked us about drinks several times until I finally told him I don’t drink alcohol.

Went here for my friends birthday dinner and everything was SO perfect! Food was incredible, we had like 15 different tapas and just passed them all around, nothing was bad, all so amazing and the atmosphere was so cool! Loved our dinner here :)

The service was extremely slow, and there was very little attention paid to customers, even after we informed the staff that we were running late for an appointment. We also asked the waiter for recommendations for something spicy and tangy, but the dishes he suggested turned out to be quite sweet instead. Since our food still hadn't arrived and we had to leave, we requested that the order be packed to go. Even then, the takeaway package was provided without cutlery or tissues, which showed a lack of basic attention to detail. The taste of both dishes (#72 and #74) was unsatisfactory. The tempura tofu, in particular, seemed like it had been fried twice, making it overly oily and almost inedible. Overall, this was a very poor experience from both the service and food perspectives. I regret choosing this restaurant and would not recommend it based on my visit. Please note: The restaurant does not accept card payments for bills below €15, which is a bit strange.

Having found this beaut of a place on good old TikTok, I just knew it was the type of place I could get proper dolled up and celebrate a special occasion with hubby. It didn’t disappoint, from the super lovely warm welcome from beautiful Aja on front of house, to our wonderful server Danielle, the vibes were immaculate. And oh my goodness the food… Im pretty sure I was doing a mini happy dance in my chair the whole time I was eating! So insanely good!!!

Been here 4 times and each time I had a fantastic experience! Truly a great place. The sashimi is great, the Cod is something special, and always, always, always get their wagyu rice! Also, their overall service is unmatched! They are very welcoming, kind, and make you feel special. I find this place so much more special than their partner "The Siren". Great place to celebrate something special!

Good food, quite a nice atmosphere, until the moment the stuck-up “manager” gets his way and isn't immediately proven right. A very disgusting person who puts himself above everything and fancies himself a god. But you could already tell by the way he walked around without having to think about it. As for him, I would say stay away from here. Hopefully, the real owner reads this and something is done about these kinds of guys. We had a nice meal and were planning to order more. But with people like this, neither of us wanted to. Very disappointing experience

Excellent place for both the food and the decor and atmosphere. Attentive staff. They noticed that our native language was French and took the time to assign us a very pleasant young French woman, Lola.

Our meal here was absolutely amazing! The highlight was the sweet potato tempura that was served with a sauce that complimented it perfectly. The beef skewers and black cod were equally delicious, and both the jasmine rice and fried rice were good as well. My drink was ok; not a place I would come for drinks, but definitely for yummy food. Highly recommend.

In this incredibly huge and breathtaking restaurant, the waiter—who clearly only spoke to my friends and completely ignoring me—informed us that they are located in a "historic building." Unfortunately, the restroom is on the second floor, easily accessible via a flight of stairs. What a shame... Meanwhile, the rest of the restaurant is supposedly perfectly wheelchair accessible. Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to relieve myself outside by the entrance? That must be part of the "historic charm." I didn't have a chance to try their food.. 😏

The interiors are very beautiful, you feel like you are in a fairytale. This is something that makes this restaurant so special. Food is good, just the portions are small and pricey. I would recommend: salmon sashimi, mushroom tempura, watermelon salad, but the best dish was black cod with teriyaki sauce, really delicious. Staff was friendly and helpful. The live singer was too loud, we were glad she had breaks between her singing… All in all we had a pleasant experience there.

Stunning decorations, amazing service, though the loud, cheap house music was a bit of a turn off. To us it didn't match well with the magical, garden-like atmosphere. The food was mostly a hit or, in a few cases, a miss. Lovely ceviche, amazing skewers, but the paksoi salad was literally a few paksoi leaves sprinkled with some dressing. We honestly were a bit surprised how lackluster it was compared to the rest of the amazing food. The duck was also so-so, but the coconut cake totally made up for it. Recommended, especially if you manage to pick the right dishes.

We had a lovely dinner here. Our reservation was for the garden, but with the heat wave, we chose to eat in the bar area. Our table was tiny but we made do. We shared oysters, ceviche, carpaccio, sea bass and steak. Each one was excellent. They had live music in the garden which added to the ambiance.

The restaurant was absolutely stunning, I was speechless. We ate on the terrace, and there was a singer who moved around the restaurant; it was a really lovely experience. The food was delicious and the staff were incredibly friendly!

But it was such a fantastic experience. The chef(s) did (did) their very best to create the most exquisite dishes. It was more than worth the money. We ate and drank very generously. It was a feast. Great atmosphere, very friendly service / staff and amazing food!

We wanted to visit the garden to have a couple of drinks and desserts, we were however rejected as we had our two small poodles (toy & teacup size) with us and they simply said "dogs are not allowed". So it is a dog unfriendly establishment (even for small & anti allergic breeds). Ad: we have been to many places including Michelin restaurants and dogs were not a problem in any of them.

It’s no longer a secret that this Secret Garden in Amsterdam is a non-negotiable to your foodie list. Japanese-Peruvian fusion that you can taste, see, hear, and feel. 💚 Hard to decide which dish was the best, black cod, wagyu rice, tenderloin, chicken miso skewers, crab-prawn quinoa cakes, or lomo? 😋

Excellent and refined cuisine. The decor is fantastic and the atmosphere is super friendly. The staff are very welcoming and attentive. An extra star for Luka for his superb service.

Lovely place. The atmosphere is tranquil and you feel like you’re transported into a rainforest off the streets of Amsterdam. Highly recommend the Miso Black Cod and Wagyu fried rice! End the meal with an espresso! Excellent service as well!

Would markedly avoid. Horrible experience with entrance and waiter staff being rude and awkward. The atmosphere was extremely snotty, they seemed to be entertaining a lot of Americans showboating their money. A really horrible way to celebrate my anniversary. Left a private complaint directly via SevenRooms but they haven't even had the courtesy to get back to me on a private complaint. Hence escalating this to a public review...

Wow! We had an amazing time yesterday visiting Secret garden. As a shared dining concept with different courses arriving in a constant flow, our waitress Lola did an outstanding job pacing the flow of the food! Moreover, the ambience, the flavors and the overall experience was absolutely incredible. 10/10 !!

It was a wonderful evening, everything was just perfect. We particularly want to thank our very courteous waitress - Lola - who not only was very knowledgeable about wine-making and different regions, but also made sure our experience was marvellous from start to finish. She is just superb. Big thanks to her and the team! We will definitely come back.

We loved listening to the live music performed by singer Luz and her wonderful guitarist/co-singer. We highly recommend Secret Garden for a special evening with friends and family….or for a date. Lovely dinner for two. Started with Tuna Tartare and Beef Tataki. Very flavorfull, tataki was incredibly tender! Tuna flavours absolutely on point. Wagyu Carpaccio, chicken skewers, beetroot, sweet potato and Sirloin to finish. Fantastic flavours. Carpaccio incredibly tender with truffel / wasabi mixed in. Couldnt fault any of it. Very good service from Lola who made sure all our needs were met and regularly topping our wine. Best dinner of 2026 so far!

Great food, and enjoyed the vibe. The design is cool too. Boozy cocktails, which is optimal. Highly recommend the miso cod, it’s un. Service could be friendlier, but was decent.

The shop is very nice, it has a special aesthetic, of course from the photos it looks very expensive, it is made a little more economically, its materials are not as impressive as they appear in the photos. The food is delicious without any particular tensions. However, it has very good service and in reality you will have a good time, it also has live music.

We visited the Secret Garden because it came up on a list of family friendly restaurants to visit in Amsterdam, and we did enjoy the vibe. The decor and setup, with the greenery everywhere and the live music, made it a fantastic dining experience. However that seems to be what you’re paying for because there’s not much besides that. The portions are extremely tiny for the price, the service was somewhat slow (we visited on a weekday), and the tables are really crammed near each other. We felt the tables nearby could eavesdrop as we could easily listen to their conversations. The waiter told us the mains come in generous portions, but we were extremely underwhelmed with the actual portion size. We left still hungry and continued our dinner elsewhere.

We were very excited to visit the Secret Garden restaurant on our recent trip to Amsterdam - it was on our hitlist of must-visit restaurants - and were delighted with the buzzy vibe, warm welcome and beautiful décor. However it soon became apparent that the restaurant was badly short-staffed on the night we visited. Our Italian server was fantastic - very funny and friendly - but it was clear that everyone was stretched very thin considering the size of the place and number of covers. We only ordered four dishes, and they took absolutely ages to arrive, with huge gaps between them. We were planning on ordering more, but gave up and left hungry in the end as the wait was too long. The poor staff seemed barely even able to stop and take drinks orders. This was a shame as the food we did have was very nice, and we'd have loved to sample more of it. All that said, next time we visit, we definitely plan to revisit, though perhaps on a less busy night.

There was literal bird poop on my napkin and table wear when we sat down. Which was a turn off because our glasses were also face up. The wait staff was very judgmental and looked us up and down before deciding if they could approve our request to move tables because the giant plant was hanging right in front of my friends line of sight and in her face, a request in which they didn’t approve after assessing us haha. Also our table was so close to the table next to us our conversation was not private and I, a 130 pound female could barley fit between to get to my chair.

Whit Monday, and we settled down in what can rightly be called a hidden garden. The place alone is a statement: modern, cozy, and unmistakably romantic, with greenery dripping from the ceiling and decor that stays just on the right side of excess. You don't just sit there; you are drawn into it. We opened with oysters paired with a Billecart-Salmon Brut Rosé, a combination that simply works. The briny taste of the oyster, the delicate fruity notes of the rosé; pairings like that need no explanation, you simply taste it. And then the food. The sushi arrived presented as a small work of art with an eye for detail rarely seen, and fortunately just as convincing on the tongue as on the plate. The lobster was downright amazing. The steak cooked almost to perfection; the kind of "almost" you don't complain about, but that you do remember. To finish, a whole pineapple with crème brûlée that appealed to both of us — presented playfully, and providing exactly the sweet ending such an evening deserves. The kitchen knows what it is doing and does it with boldness. One minor point, and I offer it because a house of this caliber can handle it: that beautiful Billecart Salmon was served in a flared wine glass. For the average guest, this is not an issue, but such an open bowl simply releases the bubbles and delicate aromas too quickly. A waste for such a bottle. I didn't say anything about it; the host should sense that before the guest has to point it out. For otherwise, the service was the very calling card of the evening. The waitresses had a keen eye for detail, and the host was visibly skilled and at ease in his profession. That elevates a beautiful location to a true experience. Secret Garden delivers the complete package: cuisine, atmosphere, and hospitality in balance. That one champagne glass? A minor flaw in an evening that was otherwise spot on. We will be back — there is no doubt about that.

We just spent two weeks in Europe (Amsterdam and Greece). This was the best meal of our trip with 2 weeks of absolutely excellent meals. We sat in the garden atrium. We enjoyed the garden ambience, the lovely live music, the attentive staff, the perfect pace of the meal, and every dish was phenomenal! We now rate every fish dish we eat to the black cod. The dessert of pineapple crème brûlée was the perfect end to our meal. Do not miss this restaurant! The staff provided excellent recommendations!

Secret Garden, once again you made me feel truly special on my birthday. Just like last year, my friends and I visited one of my favourite restaurants in Amsterdam to begin my birthday celebrations. Even though my own holiday season hasn’t started yet, this place instantly gives you the feeling of being abroad, dining somewhere exotic and unforgettable. The food was once again exquisite, and the service absolutely top-notch. This is now the second year in a row that I’ve started my birthday week at this beautiful restaurant, and it has become a tradition I genuinely look forward to. I will most likely be back again next year celebrating life while enjoying the chef’s unique and exceptional creations.

The place is nice, the prices are a bit high, the service is good and the waiters are helpful, but there are problems with the taste and portion sizes of the food. The portions are very small. The flavors are mediocre. There is a €30 spending limit and reservations are mandatory.

What an amazing time. For anyone Peruvian, it’s a bit less traditional to Nikkei but the food was amazing regardless. Other than the mini slip up with allergies, this place is on its way to a Michelin star-level of goodness.

The service was outstanding. Lola, our waiter from France, took such great care of us and made the evening extra special. Her colleagues were equally attentive, friendly, and professional. Rafael was an amazing host, very friendly and welcoming, the kitchen staff knocked it out of the park with their amazing food, we ate the edamame, king crab and prawn cakes, beef tenderloin in teriyaki sauce, and Lobster tail, for dessert we had the coffee namelaka which is the only dish I found slightly overpowering when combined with the banana ice cream it slightly takes over the coffee which id have preferred toned down but other than it was fanatastic and the matcha tiramisu was to die for, thank you for the experience guys and happy holidays (please note this restaurant is quite pricey so be prepared when attending)
