Settlers in Bilthoven Zuid Oost

June 2025: everybody deserves a second chance. That's what I've been taught and I guess a just attitude towards those who desérve such a chance. Settlers however, is no longer priveleged for ány chances given by me for that matter. Uitsmijter (fried egg with cheese) was fried too long and burned though the cheese hadn't melt. Unseasoned carelessly thrown onto two stacked pieces brown bread, wilted lettuce tucked underneath and accompanied with a gassy, murky trufflesauce. Then. You'd think there can't go much wrong preparing french fries. But Settlers' chef managed to do so. Soggy fries served luke-warm, again without any seasoning. Vioignier was good. Though the one who poored it into our glasses (mine and my neighbour's) realy needs to see an optometrist; there's no excuse to serve glasses so unevenly filled even Stevie Wonder could see the difference. Waiter -wearing a stained and dirty shirt, not the kind you'd expect as a fashion statement- was deprived of all gusto to work. The other hostess still very friendly but forgetfull: my fellow diners' order didn't make it to the kitchen. Ofcourse, can happen. The smell of garbage still dominates the premises, not too pleasant when dining outside. The only nice thing during lunch at Settlers was the pleasant company of my coworkers. We sat outside and had a discount menu. We didn't know what the menu would be. It was very nice and good size portions. The bubbles that came with it were flat and only half a glass bit of a disappointment but the wine after was nice 🙂

The food had a high Sligro content. I am used to a basket of bread with a meal, here nothing at all. A double espresso was an espresso but with double water.. the friandises with it were chocolates from a cheap box. Then give a good bonbon from a pastry chef instead of 4 inferior chocolates. It was very dirty. All kinds of small rubbish was on the floor. I dropped my knife and the waiter simply put it back on my plate. Only after something was said about it did I get another knife. Not recommended

Centrally located, this seemed like a nice spot for our annual dinner. And with a good score on Google, the choice was quickly made. Menu chosen. Unfortunately the main course was not up to temperature. Don't know what was going on, the place wasn't busy. And then having to pay 75 euros up the nose makes the aftertaste a bit bitter, it's really not worth it.

I had a high wine; very good wines and excellent snacks. Highly recommended, especially considering the rate... Super!

Erg lekker geluncht. Ruime porties ook. Bovendien een hele aardige gastheer. Zeker de moeite waard om eens terug te komen.

Good food but the staff were terrible they were rude and had no respect for my mother who had an injured leg when she had just had surgery. She put us at a high table where she could not sit, which we then let her know. The staff did not respond in an appropriate manner and actually indirectly told us to sort it out. I won't go here again.

Had an a la carte lunch today with 9 people. It was beautifully cared for. Compliments to the chef. Definitely see you soon!

Yesterday we had a delicious meal at Settlers restaurant. Prawn salad and steak tartare were very tasty, sole was perfectly prepared and with a very surprising gravy with crayfish (not a standard sauce like at many other restaurants). Received good Chardonnay. The service is very attentive and professional, and is also willing to help with special requests. The interior is very attractive, with an additional plus point being the good acoustics (you can hear each other well, no reverberation). In short, a very good restaurant.

We had lunch here and ordered steak tartare. This was the lunch special for €21. Well, lunch? More of an appetizer with white roasted casino pieces. We left hungry again.

The food was really tasty, but it was way too little. Both the starter and main course were very small. In any case, you expect enough for these prices.

One hospitable restaurant with extremely friendly and helpful employees. It is excellent and has various choices. We chose a starter, main course and coffee afterwards.

For lunch on a Thursday. Quiet inside and an eel sandwich on the menu. So looking forward to it! So not the 3 table companions followed with Van Dobben croquettes on bread but the eel. € 2.50 (approximately) more expensive, but God, a sandwich should be possible for € 12.95. What a disappointment. They had a brown fresh crusty baguette piece (approx. 1/3 stick) topped with lettuce, a little dressing, lots of tomato and cucumber and 2 thin pieces of eel tail of about 10 cm...... on 2 pieces of baguette. No butter, no extra dressing and the eel tasteless and unrecognizable. Well, sorry, but I think this is pure contempt from a customer.

Met vriendinnen gezellig geborreld en fantastisch lekker gegeten op hun zeer sfeervolle terras. Ook de wijnen zijn top!!! De bereikbaarheid is heel goed. Met de trein van af Utrecht Centraal sta je binnen 10 minuten op het terras. Heel handig als je vrienden of collega’s uit verschillende plaatsen komen. Kortom: een aanrader!

Great restaurant, quite pricey, but what you get is fine.

Als je als restaurant nog niet weet hoe je een uitsmijter moet maken, hoe is het dan met de rest? Tip: even zoeken op het internet.

Ik heb gisteren met een groep van 30 personen mijn verjaardag gevierd in het achterste gedeelte; het zag er top uit, catering prima, ik heb enorm genoten! Settlers is een echte aanrader!!

Quality very consistent and a good and surprising menu! Highly recommended for an atmospheric and relaxed lunch or dinner.

Ate here on Valentine's Day. Excellent! Was a special menu but we ate al la carte. Will post photos.

Delicious dinner again tonight. The Valentine's menu was great. As usual, good combinations and what good wine advice with or after dessert.

The restaurant looks beautiful, modern and cozy. The service itself was quite nice, but not really focused on the well-being of the guest. The fries only came when the rest of the food was already gone. And that after asking a number of times and without any excuse. After we clearly stated that we did not like that, we did not have to pay for the fries. It is quite an expensive restaurant. Due to the price-quality ratio, we will not be returning anytime soon.

Vriendelijk personeel, middelmatig eten. De ambiance is wat goedkoop maar oké. Tosti ham/kaas op bruin brood Mwah. Brood valt uit elkaar. Salade erbij is de standaard bij dit type eten in dit type restaurant. Cappuccino was prima. Geen aanrader.

Ate here with a large group. A custom menu was made for us. Super friendly service, delicious food, great location. Came back the next day for a beer and same friendly service. Knowing what they sell and how to deal with customers. Highly recommended!!!

Quality and elegance meet on a single plate.

To be fair, we ate well, the Japanese beef salad was tasty and the tournedos was very tender, but a mouse walked into the restaurant after the food and ran into the kitchen. We spoke to the staff about this and were very laconic, we are We were also very shocked by this and unfortunately we will not return here, even though the food was good.

Delicious food. With 4 people. Lidl promotion. 1 comment. We had made a reservation for 'chef's choice'. 2 out of 4 don't like fish. However, it was only possible to take either 4x meat or 4x fish. This was not clear when booking. Including drinks and tip, we paid €270.

Gelunched hier met collega's. De Uitsmijter Settlers is een echte aanrader. Vriendelijke bediening.

Op een zon(nige)dag geluncht op het terras, waar wij de enige waren. Misschien omdat het al na 2-en was. Binnen zaten wel wat gasten 2 tot 4 waarschijnlijk. Mijn vrouw bestelt een tapbiertje en ik een witbiertje, en wij krijgen de kaart. De bestelling komt eraan en een flesje Heineken met glas komt eraan en (ik twijfel) volgens mij een blond bier (Grolsch). De fust is op en morgen komt het pas.. Uh, kan dat niet bij de bestelling gezegd worden of gevraagd worden of een flesje goed is? Mijn (blond?) biertje smaakt goed met het warme weer dus dat is ok. We bestellen voor mijn vrouw de royaal belegde zalm die dat inderdaad is en goed bevalt. En ik ga voor de huisgemaakte steak tartaar met gepocheerd ei en een salsa van augurk, kappertjes en ui. De salsa is niet goed te vinden op het bord in tegenstelling tot een garnituur van fijngesneden Amsterdamse uitjes. Het gepocheerde ei lijkt in een mal bereid te zijn want het eiwit is te hard en in ieder geval niet op de klassieke manier. De 2 kleine driehoekjes toast mogen ook wel iets langer gegrild worden, die zagen er nog wit uit. Voor een klassiek gerecht waar je ook je eigen twist aan wilt geven is het deze keer niet helemaal gelukt. Dat er geen peper en zout bij geserveerd wordt is nog wel te vergeven, maar toch... Daarom maar 3 sterren

Heel gezellig restaurant. Goede parkeergelegenheid. Tot 18 uur parkeerschijf gebruiken. Voor de rokers is er een buitenterras waar je kunt zitten. Uitermate vriendelijke bediening en erg lekker eten:-)

Recentelijk gegeten en kwaliteit vs prijs komt niet overeen. Veel te duur, kwaliteit was meer richting eetcafe standaarden. Bediening vriendelijk maar niet on point voor een zaak waar maar een aantal tafels bezet waren. Veel verbeterpunten mogelijk.

Super lekker gegeten, prachtige sfeer. Nog nooit zo'n malse saté gehad! Tartaar is van harte aan te bevelen, een mooi kloppend smakenpalet.

Van een 4 gangen chefs menu voor 58,50 had ik wel wat verwacht. Maar het niveau kwam niet boven dat van een eetcafé uit. Voor de vegetariër in het gezelschap was het voorgerecht salade met gegrilde geitenkaas, kappertjes en balsamico. Was op zich lekker. Maar vervolgens was het tussengerecht weer dezelfde slamix met ditmaal een stuk mozzarella erop. Totaal inspiratieloos! Als hoofdgerecht werd risotto met paddestoel en paprika geserveerd, waar dezelfde balsamicosiroop op het bord zat en erop weer mozzarella. ?! de balsamico paste niet bij de risotto en parmezaan erover zou veel beter zijn geweest. Dessert met meloen ijs, chocola parfait, spekkoek en ijslollie was oké. Glas wijn besteld bij hoofdgerecht werd niet gebracht en stond wel op de rekening. Al met al niet voor herhaling vatbaar.

Prima gegeten, niet super bijzonder. Heel makkelijk parkeren en vriendelijk personeel.

Eaten so well, I very much recommend it! Each dish was nice presented and so good! The food had a very high quality, very tasteful. Also, the owners are also very nice people :) From the outside it may not seem the best, but don’t be fooled by this because it’s amazing! :)

Aller vriendelijkste bediening op een vroege zondag morgen en als extra bij onze consumpties de niet bestelde spekkoek

Na alle lovende recensies hadden wij hoge verwachtingen. Het voelde echter als een slechte match. De lunch op zondagmiddag is denk ik gericht op een andere doelgroep dan waar wij bij horen (gezin met klein kindje). Het eten was ok... Maar niet bijzonder. Geen onvoldoende, maar helaas kwam het voor ons ook niet boven "middelmatig" uit.
