El Dim Sum Platter ( 22 , 50 ) permite a dos personas degustar unas tapas chinas, mientras que un Pato de Pekín ( 29 euros) también puede ser compartido por dos personas. Sin embargo, las bebidas son un poco caras (un Swindles grande, 7 , 50 euros) .

Ate here for lunch. It was very cold there. We ordered some dim sum and some individual dishes. Most dishes just lacked the bite and taste you expect from dim sum. In addition, it took a long time for tables to be cleaned. The price here is a bit higher on average, but for me it could not be justified

came here on a monday night for dinner. Arrived earlier than the RSVP. They were very accommodating to us two. Let’s start off with the food. Ordered 3 dimsum platters. The soy bean rolls pretty good. Good crunch and flavor. Pork Bao Buns (2) really good Soup Dumplings: they could have had more soup but it was yummy We decided to split for the main course half duck with no bones & noodles. After almost an hour waiting we finally got our main dishes. The main course was okay. The reason why I gave it a star was because the noodles and duck tasted simple as if i went to a normal chinese takeout. The duck was so expensive for what it was in my opinion which was ridiculous. RDAM alone is pricey however i dont believe the duck was reasonably price. Apart from the food, the service was also okay. The girl was sweet however she was not very attentive to our table. we had to remind her a few times to pick up our empty bottles and plates since the table was very tiny. On top of that when asked for tap water I was denied which I then had to buy a water bottle. Overall, place was good for dimsum & that’s about it. Dont think I’d be back to be honest.

I used to order from here and really enjoyed their food. However, the prices have become very high for the portion sizes. The picture shows a meal that costs around €120, which is now beyond what I can afford.

The food is just super delicious, good quality Cantonese food, not your average industrial full of salt and sugar Chinese take out. It’s well made, tastes very fresh, and the prices are actually really good. The service was also 5 stars, very kind waitress, lovely owner who takes the time to chat with the guests. It’s a quiet, relaxing atmosphere and we’ll definitely be back.

We used to order quite often when I was living in Noord. It has always been expensive but the quality was worth it. Recently we decided to pick dinner up for old time's sake. 1 sweet and sour chicken, 1 squid dish, 1 lemon tea and 2 fried rice(on buy one get one free offer) cost us FIFTY SIX EUROS. The portions have dramatically shrunk in size too. The fried rice we received was white rice with 2 small pieces of omelette, pathetic. We won't be back.

Ordered delivery for the first time yesterday from Shanghai Papa, I’m pretty hesitant to try out new restaurants but I’m so glad I did it anyways. The food was super tasty, especially the pan-fried duck bao, the cha siu bao, and the kau choi patty. I ordered 50 euros worth of food for myself expecting the portions to be small (it’s dim sum) but I got SO much food. Everything was really well packed, it was hot and the flavors were really well balanced. Will definitely be ordering again!

One of the best places to have dinner in Rotterdam. The food is extremely delicious, I always over eat because its very delicious. People are super kind. My favorite is sesame ice cream with cookies and duck pancakes. Duck bao also great

Ate here for the first time yesterday. It was extremely busy. The service is super sweet and nice. And the food, really delicious, we had bao pao chicken, fried chicken pepper and salt, slow roast chau chie, shanghai pappa and fried rice. Everything was equally tasty and we enjoyed it. The only downside is that when you get home you can put all your clothes in the wash and your pillowcase smells like a fryer after a night's sleep. But I'd love to come back to try the dim sum.

Very good, everything is fresh We had pineapple chicken and barbecue pork, it was delicious! The staff are very kind and helpful. I recommend and we will come back with pleasure.

We recently visited this Sichuan restaurant with a large group after a busy day, and everyone was quite hungry. We started with appetizers, enjoyed two delicious teas, and many of us, including myself, opted for vegetarian dishes. I chose the Typhoon Shelter Tofu, which was excellent. My friend selected the Veggie Delight, but found it overly sweet. Note that the portions are on the smaller side. The restaurant tends to get busy in the evening, so making a reservation is advisable. The service was outstanding, with attentive and responsive staff.

I really enjoy the traditional Chinese food at this place. They make authentic Chinese dishes, and my favourite is the Beef Ho Fan. It's amazing that I can still experience the original flavours even after moving to the UK. I hope to visit again in the future and try more traditional dishes.

Been here many times for the special dumpling dimsum. They are on the expensive side but that's ok because they are really made here and are juicy. We don't order dishes here because the portions are too small for the price and just not authentic enough, which is why you don't see many Chinese eating here. But we come here for our 4 favorite dim sum. Unfortunately this time it was very bad. We try something new, the crunchy egg wrap rice, we feel scammed, cheated. Wrap implies that something is suggested to be folded around the rice. And crunchy means that it is crunchy. No wrap in sight when served. Very thin dry egg omelette, please note, you will receive 1/2 piece of that mini omelette simply placed on the rice. The crunch, 3 pieces of fried puffed rice in every bite? So no wrap and no crunch. Then the biggest disappointment our favorite, xiao lung bao, dry and where did the soup go that normally gushes out? Different chef? The po choi kau also had a much thicker layer of dough around it. Not what we are used to. Still 3 stars because the service is correct here. The sofa cushions could use some updating. Dirty grease stains and worn out for 2 years. Want to clean the extractor? we stink when we walk home. And this is just lunch and the place is not full. Why write anyway? We hope for the old familiar style like the first few years when they opened.

If you come with a large group, you can order a lot and taste a little bit of everything. My favorite dishes were definitely the beef with walnuts and the tofu. Furthermore, the dim sum restaurant has a classier look.

Delicious vegetarian food. Good portions, not too large

Honest and authentic food. Rarely have I seen (and tasted) such a good dessert menu at an Asian restaurant. Try the Icy Lucky Knot (perfect trinity of fried dough, condensed milk and vanilla ice cream) and the Lava Bao. We came with a stroller and they took good care of us regarding our seat in the restaurant.

When I think of Chinese food, I think of this restaurant. No Chinese restaurant can match this. The hospitality, incredibly nice atmosphere and trendy decoration. I'm addicted to the Beijing duck crepes!

The variety is nice, atmosphere is much better than TaiWu. Most of the dishes were great. Even though Xiao Long Bao was a bit disappointing… the skin was too thick, and definitely could be more juicy inside. Also, the steamed rice noodle roll is only served on Saturday…however, I recommend their noodles options and turnip cake, very flavorful! If you would like more intimate environment for the dim sum experience, this is still a very good option!

Food was good and tasty. What was new for me was that the rice had to be paid extra. Otherwise, the Netherlands is expensive to eat.

Sadly the food was very mediocre and catered to a western audience - lacking in flavour and depth of profiles. Very British style Chinese and about 50% overpriced to what should be market value. It’s called “Shanghai Papa” but none of the items are authentically Shanghainese - it is a Guangzhou dim sum place with generic dishes from Chinese takeaways: Beijing duck, beef in black bean sauce etc. Staff were very happy and friendly. Give them a raise and rework your menu. The other reviewers sadly have no idea what they’re talking about.

Wij zijn hier gaan eten omdat we binnenkort naar China gaan en alvast in Chinese sferen wilden komen. Nou, dat is gelukt!! Wij hebben hier heeeerlijk gegeten. Authentieke Chinese gerechtjes die bedoeld zijn om met elkaar te delen. Wij hadden de peking eend, bami, dumplings en bao bao. Echt heerlijk! Je proeft dat alles vers is. De volgende reservering staat alweer geboekt zodat we al het andere lekkers kunnen uitproberen!

The best and most unique radish cake I’ve had so far. The Aubergine cake and drunken chicken wings had a nice subtle taste, preserving the original flavor of the food. The seasonal veggie stir fry was a bit underwhelming though, despite the good taste.

The atmosphere was cozy, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The bread was freshly baked and had the perfect balance of softness, complementing the flavorful spiced meat perfectly. The corn soup was rich and creamy, with a hint of sweetness that paired wonderfully with the savory flavors of the main dish. As a Chinese, my experience with Shanghai Papa was nothing short of disappointing. Ordering their Beijing roasted duck, I was appalled to find bones still present in the dish. This not only detracted from the enjoyment of the meal but also spoke volumes about the restaurant's disregard for authentic preparation. Furthermore, the portion sizes were laughably small, leaving me hungry and unsatisfied despite the hefty price tag. Shanghai Papa's lackluster execution and overpriced offerings are a disservice to the rich culinary tradition they claim to represent. Save your money and your taste buds – steer clear of this culinary catastrophe. Plus: 虾片也很倒人胃口😅

A Pekin roast duck which is worth 35 euros with tiny portion,Eggplant has no taste at all. A such painful experience and a shame of Chinese dishes. Peking duck takeout costs 35 euros and is only a small dish, not enough for one person. The eggplant has no flavor at all.

A GEM in the centre of Rotterdam near Blaak. Not a hidden gem as loyal customers know where it is and no doubt new customers would have heard of this amazing restaurant. The décor, the ambience, the super friendly staff and of course the most amazing food. I had Yellow Typhoon cocktail, roast duck bao, xiao long bao and Shanghai wor tip (pan-fried dumplings). All absolutely perfect and can't wait to return soon

Nice restaurant, but some comments about you paying quite a lot for little, which is a shame. You also don't know exactly what you are buying when you come for the first time as they don't have pictures on the menu, but that is my opinion. The food was tasty, especially the lotus flower with chicken. Unfortunately, the crockery was often broken and DAF was unfortunately not a 4 or 5 star.

Beautiful interior. If want to sell at higher price, ensure the service is great too. Staffs were happily chatting, no asking if the food was good. After a while, the room smells like KFC. We enquired for the chili oil, it was 90% oil. Cheap plastic red chopsticks and simple cutlery. However, we love the Xiao Long Bao, Ha Kau and Siu Mai. Scallops were not bad, just too much oil. Many CCTVs are making me uncomfortable. Not to mention the reggaeton autotune loud music was truly annoying and unmatched.

Had dinner with a family member, and we were surprised with greasy dim sum, a meager vegetable selection ( the selection of vegetables on the menu were very pricy in comparison to the dim sum ), and a not so compelling flavour profile. In some dishes ( chow mein and soy noodles ) definitely a nice “breath of wok” flavour but everything looked, and tasted brown. I was however surpised by the texture of the rettich squares, but couldn’t find my Shanghai Papa Sauce that was described on the menu. Overall an OK experience, but wouldn’t go back.

Never order via Uber eats!! Contact with the restaurant about an order is very difficult. As an excuse for not helping you, they say that you cannot be understood. After that it's too late to cancel anything. Bizarre

We ordered through uber eats we accidentally orders twice, we called right after and they said take it up with uber while they themselves have to cancel but obviously didnt want to lose money seeing it was a big order horrible costumer service wouldnt order here ever again and the food was cold and soggy. Boss is a Prick who doesnt want to think with u. Horrible costumer service.

Lovely place, nice staff, good food

I ordered a Peking duck for 30e but I was so shocked about the very small portion. With the same price, you will get similar quality of Peking duck with way more portion in other Chinese restaurants in Rotterdam. Especially I ordered this in takeaway… so I felt like a scam… anyway to be fair, the food taste fine but just it doesn’t worth the price at all. The picture I show here is the actual portion. I only ate two very small pieces. The biggest piece you saw is the bone. Most of them are just the skin as well. Very small pieces under the big skin. Very disappointing with the portion… it’s really pity

We went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Service was very attentive and helpful with our choices from the menu. The dim sums were good, however the food portions were disappointing, particularly for the main meat dish. Chow main noodles lacked variety. Overall taste was good but not worth the price.

Authentic Chinese cuisine in a modern concept - the name Shanghai Papa wouldn't suggest dim sum, but the dim sum (Char Siu Bao, Xiao long bao, Ha Kau) was good. The other dishes (Peking duck, sea bass, tofu) were also very, very good... I wish we had Chinese restaurants in Germany with such a concept and the understanding that you have to spend money for good Chinese cuisine. ... :-)

the food is ok, the service also. I think it's way to expensive for the small portions you get. 8 euros for 3 small dumplings is just extortion TBH. Also when ordering the main dish it does not come with a side. You have to pay for the side separately which is just a no go

Delicious Chinese dishes at Shanghai Papa. I do recommend trying the loose dim sum, the regular platter mainly contains shrimp variations. Furthermore, a friendly (although a somewhat striking) host, and a beautiful restaurant.

Food was cold. Service poor, only complaining that it was busy. Tables are not cleared. Food is shoved down your throat. To wait long. You cannot order cocktails at 9 p.m. because the ice has run out. Not nice service, they want you back out as quickly as possible.

This is indeed one of the best in the city! However, we didn't experience a good service, as our dinner took more than 60 mins to arrive - while others around us had their food served. Super willing to change my review once I come back and receive proper service, since the food is indeed delicious and the decoration and ambiance is super nice too. It is expensive though, almost 90€ for two mains, one apetizer to share and a couple of beers. Considering the price, I would have expected faster service.

Decor (ok), location (great!), prices (very good) and service really good (way above dutch level). The thing that doesn't work for me is simple - bland taste. Steamed shrimp, pork, vegies, fried spring rolls - all colourless, nothing 'ooh that smells good', as exciting as the evening newspaper from a week ago. We tried few of the 'must try'ies and it was the same across the board. Even the famous SPHH sauce (2.5€ surcharge for 1 table spoon) felt like flat chili oil with a bit of fried scallions. Maybe it should be like that, guess just not my cup of tea. Lunch for two with drinks was around 50€.

What a nice place: as soon as you walk in you are welcomed by those typical Chinese food smells. The smell of five-spice powder in particular immediately puts me in a festive mood:-) The tofu from the Typhoon Shelter is really the ultimate comfort food with a crispy outside and a fluffy egg-like structure on the inside. Black duck was also excellent and dim sum beautifully presented. Truly a dining experience in a cozy setting. Only the cha sieu was experienced as slightly less: a bit dry. But that may also have been due to old dining experiences with the Chinese-Indian where he was buried in kilos of sauce.
