Flying from Bilbao Spain to Amsterdam visited my husband everytime I come here for Thai food the best for me in Amsterdam central!! Recommended.

Meerdere malen hier geweest en op 22 mei 2025 maar weer eens een bezoek gebracht. Viel helaas toch wat tegen in vergelijking met de vorige keren. Niet heel vriendelijk ontvangst door man in zijn vrijetijdskleding, totaal niet herkenbaar als zijnde iemand die er werkzaam is maar oké. Menu kwam vlot en drankjes werden ook snel geserveerd. Nog geen minuut na het menu te hebben ontvangen kregen we de vraag ‘are you ready to order ? nee dus. Geeft het gevoel van pushen, pushen, omzet, omzet, snel, snel. Bediening over het algemeen wel heel aardig, zeker de kleine thaise heer met die prachtige armband! ! Vooraf hadden we de ping pong salmon (toch wat droge balletjes) en de koeng katoey, best lekker. Hoofdgerechten waren heerlijk, rijst met coquilles en roze rijst met garnalen. Het kan aan ons liggen maar de presentatie van de gerechten was voorheen beter, zag er strakker uit, was meer aandacht aan besteedt. Had me verheugd op mijn favoriete nagerecht, fried banana served with vanilla ice cream, maar helaas van de kaart gehaald. Dan maar de asian war met mango ijs en kokos ijs. Vooraf kregen we te horen dat ze geen sticky rice als nagerecht hadden maar ook het mango ijs was op, kan gebeuren maar toch. Mijn vrouw had een cocktail besteld, de Singapore Sling, deze heeft onze tafel echter nooit bereikt maar stond wél op de rekening, toch weer 14 euro. Werd uiteraard netjes gecorrigeerd na melding. Wel een mooi restaurant op een wat verscholen plek vlakbij het Spui, als je voor het eerst komt en bovenaan de trap bent weet je niet wat je ziet. Al met al toch flink wat missers deze keer, dus tsja, komen we nog eens terug, wie weet, maar de volgende keer weer naar Krua Thai in de Staalstraat, traditionele thaise topper.

Een echte aanwinst voor de stad. De inrichting is modern, toch heerst er een Thaise vibe. De gerechten zijn klassiek Thais maar gelukkig niet de stadaard gerechten die je in de meeste restaurants kunt vinden. Smaken zijn authetiek Thais, de gerechten van goede kwaliteit en de bediening is vriendelijk. Ook de prijs kwaliteit verhouding is perfect. Daarnaast serveren zij heerlijke cocktails. Kortom een hapje en een lekker drankje of een lunch/diner, allles is mogelijk. Zeker een aanrader.

"Silom" restaurant in Amsterdam is one of the most impressive Thai restaurants I've ever encountered while traveling in Europe. It's not just because of the authentic Thai flavors, but also the atmosphere and interior design, which I would describe as "luxurious yet not ostentatious." Every corner of the restaurant is tastefully arranged, beautiful like stepping into a boutique hotel with a contemporary Asian vibe. I started with the spring rolls – crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, with a well-balanced flavor that wasn't too greasy. You could tell they used fresh ingredients. The green curry with beef was truly exceptional; the beef was tender, the curry was rich and flavorful, with a perfect blend of coconut milk and curry paste – a taste hard to find in Thai restaurants abroad. The minced pork basil stir-fry was spicy but a little too salty; it would have been perfect if it were a bit less salty, but it was still well-made by international restaurant standards. What made me feel most warm and welcomed was that all the staff were Thai, speaking in a friendly and hospitable manner, and providing lovely information about tourist attractions in Amsterdam. It felt like having Thai friends welcoming and taking care of me right there. But what saddens me is that "Silom" restaurant is about to close. Closing down within the next month, this visit is both a mix of joy and sadness. It's uncertain whether the next owner will continue selling Thai food. In short, "Silom" is a Thai restaurant well worth a visit. If you have the chance to stop by during its final days, I highly recommend experiencing the flavors and capturing memorable moments. It's not just a restaurant; it's the "taste of home" amidst a beautiful, internationally-inspired atmosphere. I give it a 9/10, filled with heartfelt appreciation.

Food wasn’t bad, but was met with very rude service on what was supposed to be a pleasant and celebratory evening with my wife and friends. I made a reservation for 4 people. When checking in, I explained that the 2 friends may no longer be attending and it may just be 2 people now. The host didn’t seem to think much of it, and walked us to a corner table with 4 place settings. (It was 2 tables pushed together.) A few minutes later and after taking our drink order, a server asks us to move to another table. I was a little confused by the request, since I explained the situation when I checked in, yet this is still the table they brought me to. He leaves and another person, presumably the manager, immediately approaches with a much ruder tone and says we can’t sit at a table for 4 people if it’s only 2 of us. I’m pretty much ready to eat somewhere else at this point, as their interactions with me have become thoroughly unpleasant and unwelcoming. I know my wife wanted to eat there, so I decide to just be patient and stick it out. They decide to just separate the two tables rather than have us move. That would’ve been a reasonable request a few minutes ago without all the unnecessary rudeness. Oh yeah, and that second table remained empty for the rest of our dinner. The place wasn’t even full. There are a lot of places that have good Thai food and make you feel welcome. Silom Thai Brasserie is not one of them. I won’t be back.

The two of us ate here. Fish cakes as an appetizer and crocodile satay. The fish cakes were ok. Not great. Crocodile was really tasty. Only three small pieces of meat for 15 euros. Main course sea bass. I asked for the daily price in advance because I don't want any surprises. I was told 30 euros. And ordered a beef massaman. There wasn't much left of the sea bass. Probably fried too long. Besides, it wasn't special all in all. The masaman was also tame. More sweet than spicy. And a lot of fat on the meat. There were also no pea eggplant in it. When we paid, the fish was priced at €34.50. At first it looked like it would be corrected. But then they sent us the one who said 30. He said he would settle it himself. I expressed my dissatisfaction about this and still paid the higher price because I find it absurd that something like this is passed on to employees. Poor thing. Not 4.6, rather 3.8 If you like Thai food then go somewhere else.

My partner and I ate chicken curry at the Silom Thai Brasserie last Friday evening. Unfortunately, a few hours after eating my stomach was no longer feeling well, which resulted in six episodes of vomiting and watery diarrhea late in the evening and throughout the night. My partner also struggled with very severe diarrhea. In the end, we both had food poisoning and as a result I had an inflammation of the stomach lining, which I'm still struggling with today - a week later. Because of this experience, we unfortunately cannot recommend the restaurant, even though the food itself tasted really delicious and the service was always attentive.

Pad thai is too sweet but the sate sauce is great, so was the meat. Feels overpriced.

Placemat was dirty. The salad was unwashed. The ambience is very nice, but the music was a bit too loud. Unfortunately, the taste of the food wasn't any better than in a snack bar. Therefore no recommendation!

Best Thai restaurant in Amsterdam! Moo Kra tium(Thai style) is superb! I would recommend for everyone. We also had PanengKai, Kiew wan Kai, and ask chef for thai omelet. Thai food is very delicious. Garlic pork is very delicious. I recommend you come and try it. The Laab Ped menu tastes just like in Thailand. The herbal equipment is complete 💕

Heerlijk authenthiek Thais eten in het centrum van Amsterdam. Vrij groot en divers menukaart. Zeer vriendelijke bediening. Mooi pand, sfeervol ingericht en acceptabele prijzen, goede prijs en kwaliteitsverhouding. Voor herhaling vatbaar. Direct aanbevolen aan vrienden, familie en collega’s.

We had not reserved a table, but we were well received and were able to sit down as soon as we arrived. I only ate one dish, a sort of variation of pad thai, “Silom Hang over Noodles”. This chicken dish is very successful, complete and nourishing well. Neither starter nor dessert which nevertheless made us want to eat. Apart from the culinary aspect, the place is very pleasant and warm; you quickly feel at ease there. The servers were responsive to the requests I had. For a rather affordable price, I highly recommend this Thai brasserie!

I enjoy Silom Thai Brasserie (and would return although is not my top pick in Amsterdam for tasty authentic Thai), and depending on the day, you can either get great service or not-so-great service - unfortunately this visit our was the latter - maybe just an off day. This visit we had the chicken satay skewers, summer/ rice paper rolls (i usually wouldn't go for this bc its more Vietnamese) but we were hungry) papaya salad, pad thai and the steak. The satay chicken with the satay sauce was a nice way to start our meal. The usual suspects. The papaya salad with prawns was delicious, i really love the flavours of the fish sauce dressing combined with the freshness of the papaya and herbs. Caution to the feint of hearted, this one packs a punch chilli wise 🌶️. The pad thai looked fun but tbh was average on the scale of pad thai I've had but i haven't found m/any blow your mind pad thai in Amsterdam, so this one is sufficient on the Amsterdam scale. The highlight for me was definitely the steak. Perfectly cooked and beautifully flavoured. Loved the melt in your mouth texture infused with Thai spices and almost smokey flavour. Recommend for all those meat lovers. Overall, the ambience is chill (unless you have an enthusiastic birthday celebration dining next to you 🎂) and a pleasant atmosphere for a low key dine out experience - a notch above casual dining. Would go again and get a curry and laarb next time ☺️

Place was nice food was nice but the customer service was pretty low and not very respectful to us. The ladys tone was very high and disrespectful even to her fellow colleagues. They also only gave me 3 small prawns for a tom yum prawn soup !!

What a delicious Thai! There were 12 of us and we sat on the top floor alone with our group in a beautiful authentic room at a large table so that you had contact with everyone! The service was also very service-oriented and of Thai origin. Recommended!

We had a light dinner, ordered only a few dishes that were okay. The crying tiger steak, kind overpriced at 27.50€, was tasty , BUT the beef massaman at 19€ arrived...cold! Actually we realized that the kitchen had prepared in advance the curries and were just adding chunks of cold beef to "assemble" the dish upon order. That was a bummer! The personel was friendly although new, unexperienced, lacking in English fluency and running around a bit lost. When I highlighted the dish was cold, they just took it back to reheat it...then acted like it was all normal. This is not what you would expect from a decent restaurant, let alone a Gault&Millau featured so called higher end Thai where we ended up paying 75€! Definitely not so good value for money.

After a cold river cruise it was so nice to come in to this friendly place with it’s nice and and happy staff. Loved that they have a open kitchen and that you get all the fragrances from the kitchen. The food was excellent.

Whenever we go to Amsterdam we come here to eat. We have been there about 7 times now. It's delicious, especially the currys. The restaurant is also attractively decorated and the staff is always friendly. Please note, spicy also means really spicy.

Came in to just try the Mango sticky rice. The portion was very small, and the rice was violet, average taste. We also asked for still water and they brought a jug filled with water and charged us 5€ for that. The place does look very good inside and has clean toilets

Descubrimos este restaurante por casualidad mientras caminábamos por Amsterdam. La zona de entrada de la planta baja realmente no te atrae para entrar, ya que parece un pequeño restaurante para llevar. Sin embargo, una vez que se sube las escaleras se entra en un restaurante bien decorado con un personal muy amable, servicial. Al igual que con muchos restaurantes tailandeses, el menú tiene una amplia y variada selección de platos. Comenzamos con el arrancador Silom mix que fue compartido. Vino con una buena mezcla de rollos de primavera, bolas de salmón, alitas de pollo. Para los platos principales tuvimos pollo Massaman al curry y Vieiras Pad Po Tek. Ambos platos estaban deliciosos. El personal era muy atento y servicial. Vale la pena visitarlo.

I recently had a great meal at Silom Thai Brasserie in the center of Amsterdam. I have been a few times before, and it never disappoints! The Massaman Curry is my favorite, but honestly, every dish I have tried has been full of authentic Thai flavors. The Pineapple Fried Rice was especially tasty and really took me back to the food I enjoyed in Thailand. The Marinated Rib-Eye was also excellent. The setting is modern and cozy, the portion sizes are just right, and the prices are reasonable too. If you’re craving Thai food in a nice atmosphere, Silom Thai is a solid choice. Looking forward to my next visit!

We had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the hostess in a rude and unfriendly manner. Her approach was unwelcoming and unprofessional, which made us feel uncomfortable from the beginning. Given her attitude, we decided not to stay for dinner.

We already dine here several times. The food is really good especially when they know we are Thai, they cook it as our Thai favorite taste. The ingredients are fresh and complimented the dish. We can order off menu but we need to call and order a few days in advance so they have time to prepare them. The staffs are always friendly and very helpful. They assist us very well. Better to use public transportation as it’s impossible to park a car in front of restaurant. EE drove our car once and we parked it at Q-park which is about 4-5 mins walk from the restaurant.

Khao soi! Wow! Very different from the many khao sui's I've had before. This was more of a noodle dish than a soup. But the flavors were outstanding!

Very pleasant dinner at this restaurant. Varied and well-executed Thai menu, pad Thai and fied rice reign supreme, masterfully executed and with many varieties. Generous portions that satisfy even if you take just one dish. Out of curiosity we also tried the fried grasshoppers, a pleasant discovery! Accompanied by a very good spicy sauce. Honest prices, nice place and precise and unobtrusive service.

Four of us were at Silom for dinner on a Saturday around 8:30 p.m. with a table reservation. We were very satisfied with the food and the ambience. The large adjoining room on the 1st floor is a really good place to sit. The light and the ambience are very, very pleasant. All dishes, whether starters or main courses, were very tasty. In terms of price, the starter dishes are a bit out of the ordinary (for example, papaya salad costs more than 20 euros!). The prices of the main courses, on the other hand, were just okay. An absolute highlight were the sauces for the mussel dishes! A lady on the serving staff was a bit "rustic" in her dealings... for example, a bit cold in her handling when ordering and very economical with words... But everything was still O.K.! Overall, we felt very comfortable and can definitely recommend the restaurant. For me, after a few attempts in Amsterdam, this is the best Thai restaurant so far...
