Best food I have in Amsterdam so far. Lovely lamb curry with surinam’s roti. I will visit here again when I visit Amsterdam again in future. Definitely recommend 👍👍

The most underrated bites we have had in Amsterdam, this little hole in the wall place is amazing. Its the type of place you won’t find or know about unless someone shows you (a food tour guide in our case), but serving up some amazing Surinamese food. We had the curry chicken on bara bread, sandwhich style. We had to go back a second time to get it again, absolutely mouth watering and so tasty!

The place may look a bit grim inside but don't get scared - the food is brilliant!!! Chicken was fresh and fanstastically spiced, same for noodels. I also recommend the samosas. Prices are very low considering the location. Limited space to sit, so I recommend a takeaway.

A good experience, the only downside is that the food is reheated in the microwave, which makes it a bit dry, but it's still good. A big drawback if you want to sit down, there are no restrooms in the restaurant, so washing your hands is not possible. But we ate well.

This take-away place has really great food, we ordered some dishes and heated it ourselfs at home and it was delicious. Recommended for a fast snack or take-away for home

On a cute street, good food - some Indian flavors and various soy sauce options. It’s a big plate of noodles or rice with 3 vegetables and a meat for 13.5eur - decent deal and we ended up sharing between two people.

Today I ordered the roti chicken, it was really great! The chicken was tender, perfectly seasoned. It tasted fantastic! You can taste that it is freshly prepared. Great buffet focused on takeaway. But you can also sit down and enjoy a nice meal. Great selection and five star service. There are also several seats where you can quickly eat your meal. Some more seating and bathroom would be great.

Veggie options, and it is worth it Really good food

Great Surinamese canteen. First introduction of myself and everyone with me to Surinamese cuisine. Quite a small place the woman serving was friendly and when we walked in looking a bit bewildered at the options she directed us to choose one carb and 4 veg dishes (or 3veg and 1 meat dish for the others with me). The serving was huge and tasted delicious and was a really good intro to the cuisine. They had other menu options if you are a bit more aware of the cusuine but the big plates we got were great and really good value so ide recommend to anyone but other fellow vegans especially. Seating options are limited but we managed to grab the bar seats they have and you could easily take it to go sit on the canal a few metres away. We also went to one of the restaurants that comes up if you type in best Surinamese food amsterdam but this was far better.

Great sandwiches, quality food, friendly staff

Very balanced meals. Not too expensive, well made, well seasoned, fast service, boneless curry options were great. MVP was the potato curry. The noodles were exactly my favourite type. Happy that there is lamb as an option. The curry bread was pretty good, meaning fluffy and not too strong in flavour. Overall nothing to complain about.

Like a take away place. Choose rice/noodles, 3 veggies and 1 meat. Okay options, but food is perfect. Had sweet chicken and ate at a table outside. Brilliant food and good price

The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the place itself isn't the most beautiful, in fact... I went in "on the back foot" for exactly that reason, however, what a good surprise! I loved the food, delicious! Well served, very well served, in fact, and very affordable.

Outstanding authentic food at a low key spot. You’d walk right by this tiny spot if you weren’t coming here. It’s a deli style system with a spots you sit. Don’t be put off. Great food and ample portions. All very reasonably priced. They’re quite friendly and speak excellent English. Worth seeking out.

Maybe I just don’t like Surinamese food but this felt somewhat tasteless and expensive. Got the rice with one meat and three veg. Rice itself was excellent. Meat was fine, nothing special, vegetables were tasteless. Everything was under-seasoned. They do take debit cards which is great as there seem to be no bank branches in the northern Jordaan. Also the whole area is quite dark and crowded at night. Though not unsafe, I didn’t find walking around particularly pleasant.

My 7 year old son and I loved our meals. Personally I took a rice base with spicy chicken and for the 3 accompaniments: eggplant, potatoes and tempeh. It was really delicious!

Was recommended this place by our host on our first trip to Amsterdam. Was glad we were finally able to try it out last night in town as we were getting back from a tour and they were still open. First time trying Surinamese food and the dhalpuri roti was perfect. I also loved seeing Chubby drinks and the pepper sauce that reminds me of home in the Caribbean. The owners are super friendly and helpful too.
