Skatecafe in Noordelijke IJ-oevers Oost

A completely crazy place with a skate track, a mini-oven playground, a barefoot art walk, a terrace in front of the kitchen, and even tables under a carousel roof further inside near the second bar with live music! The food was fabulous on the outdoor terrace. Plenty of vegetables, herbs, spices, and sauces for a tasty dinner. A small wine menu and drinks to go with it. It's often crowded.

Cool spot with tasty vegetarian options. The menu changes regularly, so I couldn't see anything online about the current offer, exciting because I'm not necessarily an easy eater. In the end I ate a dish that I might never have chosen but that was very tasty!

My friends and I unknowingly stood infront of a door which apparently is not allowed. In response, a security guard cornered my friend, shouting at him and putting his hands on his shoulders. We calmly explained that we did not know we couldn’t stand there and we were then subsequently taken outside of the club, my friends were then threatened, shouted at, and pushed by said security guard. Of course we then left. Please do better on this front, if it was clearly advertised that we could not stand there, then we wouldn’t have, but the unnecessary violent and angry approach was uncalled for.

The sound could perhaps be worked on a bit... I was at a party, so perhaps on a normal day there would be more attention to the 'don't shout at each other to be able to hear each other' point... not that it would matter for adults, but for a 'developing child's ear' it would.

The staff kept moving tables and chairs back and forth between the main rooms all evening. I felt gaslighted — and I loved it

Skatecafé in Amsterdam-Noord really surprised me with a unique mix of raw charm, creative energy and a relaxed atmosphere. I love how you can skate, eat and dance there without it feeling forced. The food was great and the music made it complete. LOL. I stayed much longer than planned. 🫣

Really enjoyed skate cafe, it’s two restaurants that turn into 3 club rooms at night towards 10 pm. Techno, house and other music is played depending on the night! I highly reccomend it, the bartenders are also very kind considering how full it can get!

5 stars - Coolest Spot in North Amsterdam Skatecafé Karin & Yvonne is such a cool hangout! The vibe is on point — great music, laid-back atmosphere, and an authentic underground modern feel. The staff were super friendly and just gave off that fun, welcoming energy. You can tell they enjoy being there, and that really adds to the experience. The skate ramp is a unique touch — perfect for snapping some epic photos and just chilling with friends. Food was tasty too, no complaints. Definitely recommend if you’re in the North and want to escape the busy city center for something a little more raw and real.

The skatepark is very nice and new. It is very spacious, and there is lots of space between obstacles. The music made the vibe amazing, too. The pizza came surprisingly fast. It was juicy and flavorful, but the crust wasn't the greatest. The worker there was very welcoming and friendly.

One of the best places I've been to party, super fun with three different scenes. The pleasant surprise was also linked to the football field in the middle of the outdoor area.

Skate cafe manages to walk the thin line between hippy, grunge-y, and strangely enough, elevated. Located in an old factory or commercial building, the walls are covered in graffiti, exposed steel beams are present, and bizarre decor, such as a small car hang from the roof. The dining room itself, has a floor of bare concrete but with elegantly set tables. And probably most distinctive of all, there’s a u-pipe for skaters, although it’s primarily used before dinner time. The bar, kitchen, u-pipe, and dining area are all in this same large room. You can watch your chef assemble your dish, your bartender mix your drink, and a skater do a drop down simultaneously. When you need to use the bathrooms, it’s clear that this location turns into a night club, with graffiti and stickers galore all over a very bare-bones bathroom. The food itself was delicious, I ordered the herb butter and bread, the octopus, and the redfish. Despite being a local’s spot (no English anywhere to be found) the waitstaff was more than accommodating and kind, even going as far as to find a sparkler to stick in a brownie for our friends birthday when we asked, even though this isn’t a tradition in the Netherlands. Only critiques would be the food being on the slightly pricier side, some cocktail glasses not matching the drinks which they contained, and our table having a bit of a wobble. But overall, a fantastic and unique experience, and would come back anytime I’m in Amsterdam again.

Unfortunately, the pizzas at the pizzeria at the Skatecafé (Dick & Dick) were not good. The dough was disgusting: soft and without taste, without salt, and the tomato sauce was not tasty either. There was little flavor to the margarita pizza. If the menu only consists of 4 pizzas and there seems to be a good oven, you would think that the pizzas are super good. Unfortunately that was not the case.

We went there Saturday night with a wheelchair and the staff was super nice and kind. The place is accessible and wheelchair friendly and so are the people. The music and the vibes were also awesome 🔥🔥🔥

Wanted to play pinball at the Adams Family. He either did it badly or not The other pinball machine was boring. Did a reasonable job Both pinball machines were so dirty you could barely see the ball. The service was nice. Couldn't solve the problems either 😰

For events one of my favorite places to go for a normal night it’s a hit or a miss

We had a terrible experience here, despite having enjoyed it in the past. It wasn't that busy but the service was so slow - we had to ask for everything, including plates & cutlery. Every drinks order had things missing, and it took over an hour and a half for some bread to arrive... Main courses eventually arrived after 2.5 hours and they were all cold, and some of them were inedible (the ravioli was uncooked so it was still hard & cold in the middle, and one of the bavettes smelt off). One of the party has been quite unwell today, presumbly as a result of taking a bite of the aforementioned bavette. They would have happily charged us full-price for everything but after some negotiating they took a small amount off the bill. There was a half-hearted attempt at an apology but it was a nice way to ruin a birthday celebration!

We have 5 people. had dinner outside on the terrace on Friday evening. Service is chaotic, but super friendly and helpful. The food was really good. From starter to dessert; we enjoyed! The building and outside area look a bit messy and chaotic, but that fits.

The famous Skate cafe. After countless recommendations, testimonials and stories about this cafe, I finally decided to check it out. What better way to have your first experience than to watch the Euro's semifinal between our very own Dutch Lions and those English frauds? The vibe was amazing, lovely people all around. It was way bigger than I expected. Multiple rooms and areas to sit, drink and watch the game. Enough food and drink selections to cater to everyone's needs. Multiple spots to get cold beers so you didn't have to walk all over the place to be replenished. The staff was great as well, some lovely people behind the bar that will set you right. It's safe to say, despite the loss, that this place exceeded my expectations with remarkable ease. I don't give out 5 stars easily, but this hit every checkmark I was looking for and even more. Definitely go check this spot out if you want to have a good time with your friends!

Eat good. Completely overpriced without justification. Would never go here again. Portions (24€) extremely small and extremely expensive. One shot €5.50. However, service was good and the people were very friendly. Generally very disappointing.

Food was alright, but it arrived 2h late. After 2h wait and 30mn eating waiter tells us to move because they want to fold our table and make space? Very unimpressive service for half a k spent (500), not even a gesture to compensate. The looks on the waiter’s face when we asked for deserts however, priceless. Place looks cool and has good decor but will not be organising gatherings here again

Great experience, numerous à la carte choices, very welcoming and warm staff, there are many spaces to relax, several worlds, a skate ramp, a boxing gym, a city stadium and plenty of possibilities to relax and consume , the decor is crazy, the atmosphere too, frankly I recommend

We don't understand what happened here yesterday. After an hour and a half of waiting, we received a main course with the portion of an amuse bouche. My girlfriend also went outside to smoke while waiting and was suddenly no longer allowed in because the outside bouncer "didn't see her go outside". Service is total chaos, there is no overview, was there even a maître? Unfortunately we won't be back.

Extremely rude and inhospitable doorman. Fairly certain he wasn’t a manager let alone an owner yet refused my friend due to his appearance (racist).

We waited more than an hour and a half between starters and main courses. When we were asking where our food was every 15 min, all we got was "it's getting prepared". 2h later, the food arrived and they said that our order was sent to the wrong table. We hadnt had our main course for 15 min that they told us that we had to leave the table because the party started. 450 euros bill and not a single effort done to make up for an awful dinner and a ruined birthday. I will not have dinner there ever again. Food was ok.

Delicious food, season’s menu! I am always amazed with what they come up with and all of their cooking! The atmosphere is one of a kind, it’s cosy, can be fancy, and when the end of dinner time approaches, it turns into a club and you can drink your G&T whilst dancing on several types of music 🤩 Love it 😍

We had a great time in this place. The vegan gnocchi were really good. Unfortunately, we were charged for tap water, although the bottles were placed on the table without being asked. We would have liked this to be better communicated.

Real gastronomy with really tasty dishes, very challenging for vegetarians and for meat eaters like my children, it was also delicious! The staff is fun and very professional in their own unique way! Today was the third time we came for dinner and it was surprising again for the third time! We arrived on spec and very unexpectedly, thank you for allowing us to enjoy ourselves tonight.

A very very cool spot. Theres a skating rink inside and it has very “warehouse” vibes. Graffiti on the wall, broken down car acting as a chandelier. The food was also phenomenal (can recommend the burrata and the steak)

Top avond! Ruime ruimtes voor een avondje dansen, zitten of staan. Mega aardig personeel. We hadden dropshots, ik zelf me vodka glas maar die rook anders dan normaal (zal wel aan me smaakpalet liggen) en verder wilde de barman een fles rode wijn voor mij halen. Echt aardig dat ze zoveel moeite deden voor iets wat er niet was, maar prima. Ik drink niet of weinig, dus vond het niet zo’n probleem. Buiten was het nogal fris, gelukkig hadden ze binnen gewoon lekkere temperaturen. Er waren drie muziekzalen, twee live podiums en een dj.

I tried this place upon the recommendation of my friends. It was said that after 22:00 in the evening, the dining tables were removed and the music started, but at 23:30 it still had not started. I liked the harmony of flavors on the plates, their visuality was also given importance. I cannot say the same for the dessert menu. The service is slow. It is progressing. We had to order the same menu twice. The drinks arrived very late. If you are looking for a music + food concept, it is not a good choice. It may be more logical to buy tickets for the party and come.

Delicious food at this cool place for a great price. Service was friendly, cheerful and very helpful. We will definitely go there again soon.

Watch out for pickpockets!! Even though this seems like an amazing place and we had great fun sometimes, the people that are visiting this place can be quite sketchy. My jacket with my belongings got stolen and all of our stuff where opened. Always use the lockers and still try to leave inside not valuable stuff.

Loved it! Amazing atmosphere and great food & wine for a reasonable price! The quality of the food exceeded my expectations, I had the steak and it was perfect! In the end of the dinner people were dancing at their tables and when the last seatings were over the dining area was cleared and slowly turned into a club. Had such a fun night! Make sure you explore the other parts of the venue aswell as it has areas with different kind of music.

Cafe turns into a night club. We went to the night club and had to pay entrance fee of 10euros per person. You don’t have to pay if you go before 10PM. The techno music, lighting, the crowd and the vibe was just perfect. There are multiple bars. There are also 2 dance floors one for party lovers and the other has more relaxed slow paced dance floor.

Great place to eat excellent dishes, worked with many flavors. Prices are average, but well worth it. The only downside is that the sound level in the restaurant is quite high. The restaurant turns into a club at the end of the service. There's also another large room that doubles as a bar and club. The atmosphere is top-notch. The music is often varied, with DJs and sometimes live bands. Admission is charged from 10pm onwards, but the price is not prohibitive. The perfect place for an excellent meal and a party afterwards.

Chille plek. Er is een betonnen mini met een hoog en laag deel. Lage deel heeft bowlcorners. Op het hoge deel staat vrijwel altijd een dj booth. Verder goed eten. Ook is er een voetbalveldje. In de avond wordt het een club met verschillende zalen, met goede programmering. Van punk tot hiphop en techno en meer.

Didn’t try the food but I party there and was nice, they were a guy telling me something strange and a girl from the bar came to ask me if I was okay if someone bother me tell her please, and a lot of cartels saying if you feel unsafe share it with the personal, so I think is very nice feeling save! Specially for woman! :) pd: the drinks cocktails are very strong 😅

Food is decent. The starters are more exciting than the main. Solid quality with very solid portion sizes. Price is super fair for what you get. Nothing extremely exciting, but this ppace does not dissapoint. Amazing quality for the price. Service is the highlight. Staff noticing the wine is off, and coming back to give you a fresh one. Also very friendly and helpful. You’ll feel properly taken care of. The vibe is nice. Cozy, yet professional. It’s like you’re eating at a friends place. And that friend knows his way around food. Highly recommend for a friends night out.

Going to Skatecafe Amsterdam is like visiting good friends. Good friends that really know how to cook a decent meal and serve some nice drinks. Ow and friends that happen to have a indoor miniramp. And although it's called a Skatecafe, everybody is welcome, also tourists. "Skatecafe Karin & Yvonne", as they are officially named, is situated in the North of Amsterdam. This cafe-restaurant has a real positive vibe and has something to offer for almost everybody. A great place to hang out, have a drink or two and eat something decent. Everything from lunch to dinner and more. They are also known to throw a mean party, check out their social media for the intel about their notorious party's. If you are up for it you can skate the fun sized concrete ramp, free of charge. The ramp is mostly not too crowded and all levels are accepted. Good to know: The Skatecafe is within skating-distance from Skatepark Amsterdam, also known as Noord.

Went for the nightclub which has a skating halfpipe, football pitch, air hockey, and multiple bars/dancefloors

Nice ambience, but too loud music for a chilled dinner. The place turns into a club in the night, we knew this. Unfortunately the staff did not inform us when this would happen. At the end of the dinner we were told we could not get a dessert anymore because they had to move the table and close the kitchen. In the end we managed to score dessert anyways and the staff was helpful. But in the end we have a slightly mixed feeling. 4 stars if communication would have been better. 5 stars if the level of music was lower throughout the evening.

Best place in the city for a good time. There is this one guy, Melle I think his name was, he was so nice and made my birthday evening so much fun, he went above and beyond. Can't wait to go back. Skate cafe all the way

Wat een te gekke avond had ik in het Skatecafé in Amsterdam Noord op een vrijdag! Ik betaalde €12,50 om binnen te komen en het was elke cent waard. Als 21+ gast vond ik de sfeer top. Er zijn twee gave plekken om te feesten en je kunt er ook voetballen, airhockeyen, flipperen en pingpongen. Echt verrast door alle leuke dingen die er te doen zijn. Het personeel was superaardig en maakte de ervaring nog beter. Maar het hoogtepunt was toch wel het feest in een van de zalen. Het was echt het leukste feest dat ik in tijden heb gehad. De muziek was top, het publiek was gezellig en de sfeer was geweldig. Als je zoekt naar een plek om te feesten en lol te hebben, moet je zeker naar het Skatecafé gaan. Ik ga zeker terug voor meer te gekke avonden! Ga hier sws nog een keer heen.

It was good… I just didn’t appreciate that it was with a bone on and waiter told me it was a fillet … on a side note, I learned how to eat a small fish with a bone on lol

We kijken terug op een wisselende ervaring. Bij aankomst duurde het zeker een kwartier totdat we de menukaart kregen, meermaals geprobeerd oogcontact met bediening te maken die langs ons heen leek te kijken. Vervolgens ons voor- en hoofdgerecht besteld, waarna er iets mis bleek gegaan en wij ruim een uur op ons hoofdgerecht hebben gewacht. Tussendoor kwam de manager, wat overigens fijn was, checken of alles in orde was (en kregen wij nog extra brood met olie). Echter, wij waren in de veronderstelling dat we niet zo lang hoefden te wachten tussen de gerechten door. Vanwege een concert waar we naartoe moesten, vluchtig ons hoofdgerecht gegeten. Om ons tegemoet te komen was ingestemd dat wij de drank niet hoefden te betalen, bij betaling bleek dit niet het geval en werd er één drankje, brood en olijven van de rekening gehaald met de opmerking, dat er nog was gevraagd of wij haast hadden. Volkomen begrijpelijk als het druk is dan wel organisatorisch er iets misloopt, maar op deze wijze met je gasten omgaan, is niet zoals je van horeca mag verwachten. Door deze ervaring zal ik niet zo gauw terugkomen. En dat is jammer, want bij een herkansing had je ‘het verlies’ zo terugverdiend.

Leuke plek om te drinken en te eten! Dit keer enkel wat op vrijdagavond op terras gedronken, met vriendelijke bediening en lekkere biertjes.
