“The Babi Pangang Dictatorship” Today I called Snackmobiel Marsdijk with a simple, perfectly normal order. Frikandel, fries with mayonnaise and onions, standard fare. But no. The man on the phone informed me that today there was only one dish on this planet: babi pangang. No negotiation possible. No “we also have…” Just: babi pangang, take it or leave it, as if I were a hostage in a culinary dictatorship. I cautiously asked if a croquette might also be available. Silence on the other end of the line. I swear, I almost heard the sound of a door slamming shut somewhere in his kitchen. Apparently, this is no longer a snack bar, but a pop-up restaurant with a menu of exactly one dish, run by someone who clearly wasn't in the mood for customers right now. Next time I'll just call a Chinese restaurant; at least they have the decency to pretend they have a menu.

We had placed a large order, but unfortunately, due to unexpected complications, we were unable to come and pick it up. When we called about this, we were told that they only had babi panggang left. However, the way the gentleman reacted on the phone was quite peculiar: angry, irritated, and completely unfriendly to customers. Surely a little understanding for a situation that wasn't intentional shouldn't be too much to ask. Instead, we received a rather aggressive response, as if we had personally caused the entire snack bar to collapse. In hindsight, it was perhaps a good thing we didn't pick up the order, because if this is how you treat customers as soon as something doesn't go entirely according to plan, that really says it all. Hopefully, the gentleman was just having a bad day, because otherwise, this is a particularly underhanded way of dealing with customers. In any case, we won't be coming back here anytime soon.

Since we’ve been living in Marsdijk, we’ve regularly gotten fries from the Snackmobiel. Very friendly staff and owner, and tasty, well-fried fries. Good portions too. It’s actually always busy, but ordering by phone works great! Always ready at the agreed time! Keep up the good work!

They wouldn't even accept an order from a private individual. Very poor service.

I'm currently a weekly customer at Snackmobiel. Every week is a treat. Good food and friendly staff. In short, nothing to complain about and therefore definitely recommended!

Wide selection for a good price

The meatballs were delicious, and so was the special hamburger. The ladies were very friendly. Good job!

We have visited all the snack bars in Assen at least once. In our opinion, Snackmobiel is definitely in the top 3 of best French fries and snack sellers in Assen. Good fries, crispy enough and the snacks well baked, not too greasy. Friendly staff and a wide selection of snacks. In short, we are fans, keep up the good work!

The snack mobile in Marsdijk was an excellent choice for our Friday lunch! We were impressed that they were the first to open among all the cafeterias in the area. The fries were of high quality and the snacks were delicious too. The salt on the fries could have been better distributed, but the sauce compensated for that, it was very tasty. We will definitely be back for more goodies!

The best of Marsdijk. It's a pity that the branch is not 'permanent' and therefore the opening hours are somewhat limited, but the quality of the food is very good. During peak hours it is better to call in advance.

Delicious fries and snacks, also one of the best snack bars in Assen, the meatball is also highly recommended. We like to take a bike ride from the Larch district for these tasty things.

The VERY best fries in Assen. Fries to pick up from Marsdijk from Kloosterveen. Delicious peanut sauce, sweet curry and creamy fries sauce. Super nice girls and owner, very nice team. The snacks are always fried in clean fat, and care is taken to ensure that the snack is given to the customer as fat-free as possible (snacks drain well). In short, a snack bar worth driving around for!
