Fantastic food for a really good price. Was hard to choose a dish but settled for the pulled jackfruit tacos and dragon noodles 👌

i’ve seen multiple complaints about the saltiness of the food (curry) and still it’s way too salty, barely edible. also what’s up with the “fried” chicken burger? it doesn’t look like the picture one bit, it’s a very thin patty u can get from Albert Heijn or FEBO. i barely write bad reviews, but this was a big let down. also, miss me with a petty reply, instead, step your game up. the server was very nice though.

Wonderful vegan food - loved all the options! The eggplant dip went so well with the bread, the ribs were "meaty" and the cheese steak and chips were addictive!

i ordered the miso ramen. it didn’t have any taste and was made out of 10% oil and some butter which made it really bad. it was like just eating oil even when stirred. they said it was a mistake but they didn’t make me a new one, I was very eager to try so I don’t know if this is the real recipe. They did change my order without hesitation which was nice. Instead I got the kimchi sandwhich which was very nice! It had a little too much kimchi for my taste though. the bali salad was drenced in sauce which made it more like a sauce salad. extra note: they gave a really mean/derogatory response to this review about how i shouldn’t have an opinion about the food as i am not a professional food critic. and now changed it… massive bad vibes from this place. avoid and just an extra note: i dont have to be a professional to know when ramen is very bad, I’ve tried plenty

A fully vegan restaurant serving a broad range of foods and big portions, too! I thoroughly enjoyed my salad bowl and the staff were super friendly, too. I would have liked to try every single item on the menu

Went there with my friends, made a special reservation and they offered to put together a menu for us. If we'd known that they will owercharge us double for what those dishes were worth in regular menu, we wouldn't have gone there. The green papricas tasted horrible, like grass.

Food is excellent, the mushroom bitterballen were tasty and crunchy. Ben Ben noodles and Dragon noodles are very good, tasty and very well cooked. Service and atmosphere are also nice! Good choice of beers. I highly recommend this place!

Visité este restaurante con amigos, y habíamos acordado con el propietario que todos obtendríamos una comida por valor de 20 €. Sin embargo, lo que recibimos fue una selección de aperitivos compartidos para el grupo que apenas sumaban un solo aperitivo por persona. Para empeorar las cosas, a pesar de recibir alimentos por un valor aproximado de la mitad de lo que esperábamos, todavía teníamos que pagar los 20€ completos por persona. La comida en sí era increíblemente sosa y poco inspiradora. Muchos platos tenían las mismas salsas, haciéndolos saber idénticos. No había creatividad ni variedad en los sabores, y en general, la experiencia se sintió como una estafa. Por el precio, esperábamos mucho más en términos de calidad y cantidad. Desafortunadamente, este lugar no cumplió, y no lo recomendaría a cualquiera que busque una experiencia gastronómica satisfactoria.

The food itself was mediocre but okay. MAIN PROBLEM the owner made a specific menu for my large (25) friend group, asked 625 euros for it and gave us food worth 300 euros (according to the actual menu they use). We only got appetizers and didn't even have personal plates. Anyways would not recommend. How would you improve upon this situation?

Our visit was, to put it mildly, quite a disaster. Despite pre-ordering starters for our group and the place being practically empty (there was just another table of four), our food took forever to arrive. And when it finally did, the dishes were bland and unimpressive—nothing to write home about, leaving us hungry and dissatisfied. As for the bill, it ended up being half as expensive as it should’ve been. The staff tried to fix the mistake, but they couldn’t seem to do much since it was preordered. When we got home and reached out to the bossman, we were met with an incredibly dismissive response—the guy practically showed us the finger. All in all, it was a thoroughly disappointing experience that left a bad taste in every way. The only positive thing about the place was its overall atmosphere and vibe. Based on how it looked, I expected a much better experience

If you're a group looking for a nice vegan meal that fails to meet the minimum dietary requirement of actually filling you up, all while granting you the privilege of being charged double—then boy, is SOIL Vegan Cafe the place for you! A true pioneer in masochistic dining, they could only step up their game by spitting in your face the moment you walk in. Also, big up for their policy of bullying employees into refusing refunds with the threat of it coming out of their paycheck. Don't forget to book in advance and prepay!!!

People on Twitter and elsewhere usually say that white people food has no taste. In this instance, I can most certainly agree. Extremely bland food and for the amount that I'd have to sell my last remaining kidney. Sad that Gordon Ramsay's "Kitchen Nightmares" is discontinued, because otherwise I'd greatly recommend the place to him... and he's the only person I would recommend it to.

I'm a huge vegan food fan, but there is really nothing good I could say about this place, which is sad because we had such high expectations. We ordered a couple of entrées with our friends and none of them were good. I would even say that none of them were even OK. In addition to the flavor, we had to wait our foods for a very long time and there was only one other table in addition to us, so not sure why it took them so long. Also check the prices beforehand, because comparing the number on the check with the amount of food we recieved -- a little bit embarassing. So in general, a hugely dissapointing visit. I would not recommend going there. There are other, much better vegan places nearby.

The food was bland and expensive and we left still feeling hungry. We made a group booking but later when we compared food prices and the amount of food we were served, we realised we payed twice as much for the food (compared to prices on the menu). Talked to the owner, but he refused to give us a refund for the extra money we payed but were not served in food. The atmosphere was nice but that's really the only positive thing I can say about this place. Would not recommend this place, there are better vegan restaurants out there.

Delicious food, the service was excellent, fast, the desserts were amazing and the bathroom was clean

I was shocked! The name says Cafe, but the moment I stepped in, I felt like I had been teleported straight into the warm embrace of Latin America—thanks to Julia and her vibrant music I had an energy boost before I even had my food. Having lived in Bali, I naturally ordered the BALI SALAD, and let me tell you—it was a flavor vacation. One bite and I was back on an Indonesian beach, minus the sand in my shoes. The Puerto Rican chef put his love into the food. You will feel it. If you’re looking for a boring cafe experience, this is NOT the place. But if you want a taste of sunshine, soul, and ridiculously good food, Soil Vegan Cafe is a must. Julia, keep the music going— Hasta luego!

Unfortunately a mediocre experience this evening. The waiter and chef were the only staff present and seemed inexperienced and rushed. We had made a reservation at 8:30 PM, but upon arrival we were the first to be told that that time worked against us because the kitchen had only been open for another half hour. We were given two soaking wet beer glasses. The food took a long time (45 minutes) and was not served at the same time. It took 10 minutes between the delivery of our dishes. The portion of noodles was so small that I started asking for some extra noodles. Fortunately that was not a problem. There were also hardly any vegetables in the miso, compared to the photo on the menu. Due to the understaffing, the waiter had to help the chef with cooking. I thought the most bizarre thing was that the waiter and cook stood in front of the door to smoke, leaving the restaurant with 5 tables of guests. It all seemed chaotic and a bit amateurish. A catering training for the staff and even more staff one evening will benefit this restaurant.

Restaurant was very nice, just the pricing is off. Too expensive for what you get.

Very friendly staff, fantastic food with one of the best coffees in Europe, and homemade kimchi, what else do you need?!? Definitely recommend!!!

Service was 10/10. the weiter made everyone in the restaurant feel comfortable and welcome. Super attentive, quick Service with a smile and a personal note! Great guy. The food was okay. A bit bland and quite expensive for what we got. It was nonetheless good comfort food but price/ quality was a bit off. Special shoutout however to the vegan cod fish balls. They were very nice! As a main we had the miso soup and the “pulled pork” burger. Again, not bad but have had more flavorful vegan cuisine. The atmosphere was a bit cold and reminded me more of a snack bar than a restaurant (which again - given the prices was a bit disappointing.) we ended up paying 45 euros excluding and drinks.

A true gem for vegans and vegetarians! I tried the Dragon Noodles, and they were fantastic—bursting with tangy and sweet flavors. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it a great spot for a satisfying plant-based meal.

We went here based on the good reviews and were quite disappointed. The food (bitterballen, chicken burgers and fried noodles) tasted average at best and wasn't a highlight at all. The prices are far too high for that. The fried noodles would have been half priced at a Chinese restaurant and would probably have been tastier. Unassuming selection of non-alcoholic drinks. The service was very nice, the shop was completely empty on an early Saturday evening. In the end the two of us paid €65. It wasn't worth it at all.

I went to the restaurant tonight with my dad and even him (who’s not vegan) really enjoyed the food. We ordered the ribs twice because they’re amazing and also the bitterballen and the dragon noodles. Btw, the waiter with the tattoos is super friendly and nice!! Really recommend it 🥰

Excellent vegan food. We especially liked the ribs and bitterballen beforehand and the snickers and cheesy cake afterwards. Very nice music in the background, not too loud, not too soft. Nice, enthusiastic service, but we had to wait a little too long halfway through for our next dish.

Although we were really excited to try this restaurant, it was a mediocre experience. The decor is nice and fresh. The food was okay, the service unfortunately disappointing. The tacos were tasty, but a bit flat, and the dragon noodles were surprising, with a good balance between spicy and fresh. The Bali Beach salad was drowning in the peanut sauce, which unfortunately made it tasteless and somewhat soggy despite the many ingredients. The service was not good. Upon entering we were welcomed and allowed to choose a table, but when this took too long, according to this man, we received a special comment, which was probably meant to be popular and funny, but came across as rather condescending. Although this man was having a great time (dancing, singing along to songs, etc.), he had no regard for his guests. I made eight attempts to order a second drink, had to pick up my own cutlery from the bar while eating and the music was so loud that I could hardly hear my table companions. That's why we skipped dessert. A nice restaurant that, with its vegan menu, really complements the offering in the area, but still has some things to work on.

Finally I've tried Soil and it was really nice. I had the jackfruit pulled pork and their snicker dessert, they were good.

Super nice food with interesting twists on existing favourites. The use of kimchi is amazing. Despite both the kimchi loaded fries and the kimchi burger being a bit much together, each is absolutely amazing in combination with something unrelated to Kimchi! The cheesecake was also absolutely yummy.

Tried 3 dishes which were all equally delicious. Chai latte and Tumeric golld latte best ever had. If you are in Amsterdam you just have to visit this place.

We ordered a noodle dish, and after a long wait we got a way too salty dish. I sent mine back, and she said they couldn't do anything about it, because the sauce was ready-made. They offered us another dish, which I accepted. What she failed to mention was that we then had to pay for both the dish I sent back (after one single bite), AND the new dish. I cannot recommend this place, and the street has lots of other (better and cheaper) options.

I was looking for a comfy place to celebrate my birthday, and SOIL definitely met the expectations. Best vegan food I’ve ever had in my life, the peanut butter curry and the ben ben noodles were to die for! Atmosphere is chill and cozy, but still a bit fancy, a great mix to be honest. Service was impeccable, wine was good as well. Next time I’m in Amsterdam I will definitely visit again, thank you for the great experience!

Delicious food. The cheesecake and snickers are highly recommended. Full of flavour, not too sweet and so tasty that you won't notice it's vegan. We were helped well by the friendly Julia.

Tried the Ruben Burger (which is a sandwich, not a sourdough bun as written on the menu) and it was okay. Although 12,5€ seems like a lot for a sandwich.

Excellent! In particular, I am referring to the level of kindness with which I was offered a dish different from the one I had chosen, as soon as they understood that I couldn't eat it, because it was too spicy for me. Thanks to Giulia and Giorgio.

Lovely little café, they have a good variety of dishes so there's always something you like. Very flavorful food too. I had the ramen and hubs had a selection of starters as a main course. They were served together as requested!

Super nice spot for dinner. Fast, kind service, excellent food, extreme amazingly tasty desert! They could have made more money if they would have given us more time in between dishes, by asking if we wanted more drinks!

We were very excited to eat at this vegan restaurant and I have to admit that the food met our expectations! It was delicious and especially the ‘ribs’ were beyond! But.. the service was unfortunately the worst we both ever experienced. The (new?) waitress wasn’t welcoming us, didn’t wish us a good appetite and couldn’t show a smile at all. While she was sitting behind the desk playing on her phone, we had to walk to the desk to order more drinks. There were only three tables occupied and everyone had to walk to the counter to order more drinks, deserts or pay the bill. Another couple didn’t even got cutlery while their food was already more than five minutes on the table and eventually had to ask for it themselves. After finishing our food, the waitress didn’t had a single look at our (or others) table anymore and our dirty plates were there even when I walked to the counter to ask for the bill half an hour later. Good food is not the only reasons why you eat out at a restaurant, friendly and good service is an essential part of it too. Such a pitty for a restaurant that serves such tasty vegan food…

Food is amazing, nice portions and nice atmosphere. We took the Ben Ben noodles and the beet-feta-kale salad, both were great, healthy but indulgent. Recommend!

This is an absolute gem for vegan foodies in Amsterdam. We absolutely enjoyed every bite and the place as an excellent beer selection. The waiter was incredibly friendly and we felt very welcome. Would definitely go again.

Located behind the Muiderpoort station, about 2 minutes by bike. Cosy location, bit dark though. We chose the high seats, but with hindsight go for the low ones. Food was really tasty and served fast. Friendly service, bit shy lady. Mostly English speaking. I had the beef type seitan short baguette, which was great. I took some of the jalapeno peppers off, because it was a bit too hot for me. Girls had the cheesy burger and enjoyed it a lot. The fries and vegan mayo were great and not fatty at all. Vegan Snickers as a desert! Only try when you have sufficient space left in your stomach as it is heavy stuff

Hier gister avond voor het eerst gegeten. WOW! Wat een fijne plek. Het eten was echt zo ontzettend lekker. Als je een plek zoekt om lekker te eten met een groep mensen, waarvan 1 of enkele mensen vega/ vegan eten... ga hier heen! Niemand mist hier vlees of vis want alles is zo jummmm. 10/10 voor de bediening trouwens. Die man was zo vrolijk, aardig en danste lekker mee op de muziek. De playlist verdient ook een 10/10. We draaien hem thuis nu ook : )

Heerlijk eten! Vriendelijke bediening. Helaas duurt het wel wat lang allemaal… gevalletje understaffed? (Maar met2). Ook veel afhaalbestellingen die lijken voorrang te krijgen? Zit wel veel potentie in! Heerlijk en plantaardig gegeten 🌱

Really good food, but the cherry on top was the excellent service and the amazing music taste of the staff. Everything we ordered was absolutely Delicious. The mushroom bitterballs stood out the most. Thank you for this very fun evening whilst dining there 😁

It was like a gem found in an unexpected place. You have to travel past the typical tourist attractions. And that is a huge plus. No busy people, no misbehaving grown-ups. Just friendly people having a excellent vegan meal. If you want to go there with more than two people, I would recommend to make a reservation. The food was very special. With every bite you taste the creativity and pleasure in making vegan food and in turning classic international meat dishes into a vegan one. So greatful, we found this place. We will come back for sure!

Our servers were so warm and lovely, and the food exceeded expectations. It was such an enjoyable experience for our team. We loved every moment! And meeting Charlie (the mascot) was priceless 😊

Absolutely fantastic meal, Ben Ben noodles, Ribs, the flavours are so fresh. We came out feeling completely satisfied and content. Also had the snickers, and saved some for later the snickers is even better when it has been left to warm to room temp. Highly recommend. Will definitely be back!

This was a surprise of how good the food was. We don't usually it vegan food or go to a vegan restaurant, but if you are looking for something new to try, this would be the place. It is a cozy spot with nice staff en good food.

Great food and service at this place! I only took pic of the ribs. They were incredible - must try. I also tried the pulled pork tacos, smokey aubergine dip and chorizo. The aubergine dip was not that great, but the rest were delicious. Overall I had a great time dining here.

First of all, thanks to the really attentive and very friendly person who served us as well as to the person who cooked the fantastic food. We are big fans of vegan restaurants and always visit a different vegan restaurant at least once a month wherever we are. Here at SOIL we ate: the tacos, the RIB, the bitterballen and the cheescake. The RIB was very tender and juicy with an Asian-inspired barbecue sauce. Personally, I was expecting a more smoky salty version but was pleasantly surprised by the slightly sweeter, lighter version. The tacos were beautifully decorated and super tasty. I personally would have liked the really nice sauce separately, as it was a bit dominant and thus not all the great ingredients came through. All around though, they were still fantastic tacos. The bitterballen were exactly how I think they should be (I'm no expert and have to trust the kitchen here). The bottom of the cheesecake was a super tasty cookie base and the filling including strawberry jam was delicious. For me personally, the filling might be a bit creamier and fluffier but I know how hard it is to compare a vegan cheesecake to a cheesecake made with animal products. From there I was also more than satisfied with the cheesecake. Even non-vegans will experience a taste explosion :) The portions may seem a bit high priced for starters at first but every bite was worth it. For two people, this total of three starters and a cake was definitly enough (and usually we eat a lot). I highly recommend a visit to SOIL and I hope that one day you make it to cologne with your recipes! :)

Visited here after looking for various vegan options and hoping they would be able to accommodate on a busy weeknight and they did. The service was great and knowledgeable, letting us know about food options and also about how long the service would take. The food was exceptional, every dish was amazing (leave room for the dessert!)

Mijn ervaring hier was oké, maar niet super. Ten eerste: de kaart is leuk (originele gerechten, de “vis”kroketjes vielen in de smaak) en de aankleding van het restaurant is ook warm en gezellig. De bediening was vriendelijk. Het eten maakte ons niet heel enthousiast. Mijn vriendin had de peanut curry die niet heel veel anders was dan de simpele curry die je zelf thuis ook makkelijk maakt. Ik had de ben ben noodles. De sesamsaus was super lekker, maar de udon noodles waren helemaal zacht gekookt. Toen we dit bij het afrekenen opmerkten zeiden ze dat een andere gast eerder die dag ook al dezelfde aanmerking had, en dat ze een wat teveel doorgekookte batch hadden gemaakt. Dat vond ik wel jammer; als er al eens is geklaagd en je weet dat de batch noodles te lang is gekookt kan je beter nieuwe maken in plaats van ze te blijven serveren. Service was verder erg langzaam maar we begrepen dat ze die dag onderbezet waren dus wellicht is dat op andere dagen beter. Al met al: niet echt fantastisch gegeten, maar mogelijk is het op andere dagen dus wel beter.

Very delicious and creative food options! Loved it there! You know a place knows what they are doing when you see several jars of fermented food in the shelves. Staff were also super helpful, attentive and sweet and took great care to make our stay enjoyable. Will definitely visit again. Thank you so much 💕

Premetto che sono di palato abbastanza "aperto" e la cena mi è proprio piaciuta, ma, devo ammettere che non lo consiglierei a chi non è abituato a sapori particolari. Sicuramente non per una prima esperienza vegana.

Sadly my dish was a disappointment. The peanut curry is obviously made with frozen vegetables which at this price it should be made with fresh veg! The service was lovely though and my friend loved her laksa soup so I still give them 4 stars. Just don’t order that curry. It’s a bit expensive but the portions are generous. Some days you can book with a discount on the Fork.

Nice restaurant, friendly service and extensive menu. Take Ribs sweet & sour sauce, scallions, sesame as a starter. And as a main course the Ben Ben Noodles. Tastes delicious!

Ribs were burned black to a crisp which is carcinogenic, and when you order a starter and a main dish it gets REALLY expensive. Not recommended, we won't return.

Had the best chips I have ever tasted. All the food was prepared carefully and with love. I don't eat onions and garlic, so they went out of their way to cook something I could eat. Not cheap, but amazing tasting food!

Food was really good, but couldn't even get a glass of water with two dishes (30€), we had to pay 4€ more. I've never seen that over 200+ restaurants I've been.

This is a great, cosy cafe with amazing food. We simply couldn't choose between all the great options on the menu. We ordered both burgers and hot bowls and everything was delicious. Our waiter was very friendly and the drinks were good. Definitely recommend this place!
