SORA Sapporo Ramen in Oude Pijp

It was our first time visiting Amsterdam from Toronto. While exploring De Pijp, we decided to visit Sora as it was raining and we wanted someting soupie. You know a place is good when it is packed. Though, there was a bit of a wait time, our Ramen was absolutely delicious and fresh. The atmosphere is very intimate and warm. Definitely recommend, itadakimasu everyone! :)

Really great experience here. The staff is friendly and helpful. Relaxed atmosphere. The ramen was good. I got the basic miso (€18) and the pork was thick and tasty. Portion sizes surprisingly big for ramen, it was nice to have plenty!

I used to like to order from here although their delivery times are always long and changing. However, last time I ordered they forgot to put one of the broths in, we immediately complained to Uber eats who only reimbursed 50cts out of a 20+ euros ramen. We called Saporro and asked what we can do, they said that it's not their problem and to go to Ubereats. Mind you the bag came fully closed to it's impossible that it dropped or someone took it out, therefore it's fully their fault and they weren't taking accountability. We offered to come pick up just the broth so we can actually eat the ramen we ordered and they said that's not possible which is the most ridiculous part and again said this has nothing to do with them. Very disappointed with the treatment of customer even when we offered to solve their mess up ourselves.

What a fantastic experience at this ramen bar on the Ceintuurbaan. The bowls are beautifully presented and the flavors are truly excellent. The soft-boiled egg in the ramen, in particular, is perfectly prepared and gives the dish exactly the right texture. It is a lovely place to sit quietly and enjoy a good meal. Everything looks fresh and well-presented. I will definitely be back here soon for another bowl of ramen.

The shoyu ramen with chicken is my recommendation, you can’t go wrong with this order. Amazing ramen place!

I ordered Tonkotsu ramen and it tastes amazing. Vibe was bit slow but I had my meal in peace with a beautiful window view. Staff was extremely polite. Service was super fast. Everything about Ramen was great, pork, broth, noodles and vegetables.. Everything perfect! Definitely coming back.

Vegetarian options are available but disappointing. The noodles are poor quality, which likely affects the other ramen dishes too. That said, the staff are friendly

Good service but there is a tip option at the end. It's only for people who are not familiar with noodles and intersted in Japanese ramen. It's a disgrace for people who have noodles on a regular basis. Those minced meat has a production cost of at most 0.5euro per bowl of noodles. Ancient Japan were poor so when they learn to make ramen from China, they add very little protein to it. However, right now in Amsterdam, costing you 20 euro per bowl, they are still using like 5 grams of minced chicken. This is like gaslighting you into believe in they are doing it for tradition or elegance instead of maximizing benefit.

10/10 ramen experience. Despite its popularity, it remains cosy, homely, and really feels like the sort of place that feels like a well kept secret. Excellent food, served quickly and by friendly and welcoming hosts, perfect for the frequent rainy days. Prices are more than reasonable, and it would be easy to stay hours (although you will likely need a nap after a big bowl of excellent ramen). 10/10, no improvements needed.

A very good experience. We ordered miso ramen and tonkotsu ramen, both very tasty and perfect for the weather. The place is comfortable and feels authentic, ideal for a hot meal.

Sapporo Ramen have incredible Ramen. My order of Tan Tan inspired Ramen was savoury, spicy and incredible delicious. I can safely say these are the best Ramen I ate in Europe, only beaten by ones I ate in Japan.

This is the best curry I have had outside of Japan. A bit spicy, thick and rich in flavor. It was great. Just wish they had some pickled ginger on the side. Their drink was amazing as well. The fried chicken and karage were good too. The staff is also very sweet.

If you like Ramen, this is perfect. Focus on food and not interior design. Not often I drink from the bowl if you say so…

We ordered two Tonkotsu and one Gokujo Kuro Miso ramen. It was absolutely amazing the best dinner I had ever eaten

Unfortunately, I would not recommend this place. The flavor of their broth tasted extremely off and terrible. One of the broth was so salty and terrible that it could simply not be eaten. They made us pay for it even though it was completely untouched and overpriced for the sad quality of food. We were genuinely looking forward to it but this is just a place that I will never come back to.

Proper no nonsense Japanese place. Like stepping into a little bit of Japan. The curry is really good.

Since my trips to Japan, I've been on a constant quest for ramen that will remind me of the ones I ate there. This comes very close! The broth was excellent, and the chashu was incredibly tender. A minor complaint: the egg and the takoyaki were slightly overcooked. The curry was also very good!

Very cozy, small restaurant with an authentic vibe! Not a lot of large tables so be aware if you want to go with a big group. We were helped and served by kind staff. The broth and noodles were very tasty. I had the karaage shoyu ramen. It was really good and filling. The karaage got soggy which I didn’t really like but that was my own mistake..😅 I could’ve eaten it first or choose for a different protein. And I still very much enjoyed the meal!

SORA has a very authentic atmosphere, it is a bit hidden but very delicious. The waitresses were all very kind and accommodating and the tonkotsu was great with a rich creamy broth! I recommend visiting this place, but try to reserve if you are a bigger group like we were!

I know all ramen shops in the region and Sora is by far my favorite. The flavors are balanced, the broth is not too salty, the pork is very tasty and the vegetables are varied.

We always enjoyed going to Sora but not today, sadly. We waited for 25 mins for the food to arrive. The ramen soup had very little noodles in it and way too much vegetables (as in endless amount of vegetables - 85% veg and 15% noodles). They also threw in a few shredded onion skin (non-chewable). I had to spit it out. It's a rather unpleasant sensation. I shared feedback afterwards but the staff did not do anything to make up for the unusual experience. (Only acknowledge but no apology). It's a very disappointing meal.

Great ramen and lovely service! I had ramen today and it was really delicious — rich, comforting, and well prepared. You can tell care goes into the food. What made the experience even better was the service: the staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. Overall, a great place with good vibes, tasty food, and kind people. on our first time we got shoyu ramen with chickeb it was DELICIOUS 10/10 second time we got the recommendation tonkotsu shoyu ramen i personally liked first one better but of course both of them were very good. kind and fast staff as well. will be back again

Best ramen in a cute almost little hidden spot in de pijp. Easy to order and very quick. Staff is pretty and I’ve never walked out disappointed.

I had the shoyu ramen, which delivered a deep, rich flavor and an authentic Japanese vibe. The option to easily customize with extra toppings was a nice touch. I visited on a weekday evening, and the atmosphere was pleasant, making it a comfortable spot. While the food impressed, the interior could use a bit of an upgrade. 🍜

Even thought the staff was welcoming and friendly, unfortunately the food was not interesting at all... Additionally, the smell of burned oil was very heavy and ugly.

We have enjoyed the late cloudy afternoon ramen inside. Just few minutes after the opening the place was full, we felt lucky to have a table without waiting. The place is very atmospheric and a little mess and loudinnes makes the full comfort for you if you look for something live and authentic! Mino vege and classic one were perfect. Would really enjoy it once again on a cold day!

Incredibly delicious. I have been here several times in a short period. Very friendly service. The food is amazing; I always order the ebi with crispy chicken. They have a spicy and a black garlic version. Both are good, but the black garlic is the best.

Small place with limited seating around dinner time, often a wait if all seats were taken. The ramen menu looked good and the photos did too, but unfortunately, it was very disappointing. If you want extra toppings, you pay extra. With the ramen itself, you got very little topping and a boiled egg instead of often a half-boiled one. The broth also lacked flavor. There isn't really any service either, since you order yourself via a QR code on the table. There is also only one toilet in a very small room. I found this place through various TikTok videos; unfortunately, it is not worth a repeat visit for us. I would rather go to other ramen places in Amsterdam.

Updated 20250212 Nowadays when you are strolling in Amsterdam, you just can not not stop by SORA off course! The fried chicken is still as juicy as I remember but the price has gone up! 😭 20230227 Who can even withstand the juicy succulent fried chicken from this place? A very good friend recommended it to me who has been to Japan a few weeks ago and I am glad I followed his advise. Its a shame that they are only located in Amsterdam and they got lot of Ramen noodle choices to choose from and their sides are delicious as well! They only open at lunch 12 till 3pmand dinner shifts 5 till 10pm. The japanese fried chicken is also good for to go -\(^_^)/

Paid 4 euros for two ramen eggs which for that price have to be perfect. Unfortunately they are completely overcooked, ramen eggs are supposed to be a bit liquid inside. There was also a cocooned insect in our ramen which is really bad. We are disappointed.

Service was VERY FAST. Appetizers came out not even 10mins after we placed the order. Karaage was delicious and the soups as well. Gyoza tasted like you regular frozen gyozas but still tasty. Would go again :)

Cozy spot I chose for a chillier day. Wasn’t busy and was sat immediately. Took me a while to realize that ordering was done through a QR code and later served to you. The ramen was average, nothing crazy. Decent price. The server took a while to close my tab out and it gives it a section for tipping. Overall a good experience but I’m wondering if there were better nearby.

Ramen was great! We got 2 chicken ramens, one with chicken breast and one with fire chicken, the one with the fried chicken is even more delicious. Chicken gyoza was one of the best I’ve had. Good quality and big portions. Highly recommended

It is expensive for the amount and quality. Their recommended black garlic ramen only has 2 slices of pork. the rest is just a vegetable soup, not even an egg. Overall, bland flavor. The karage does not even come with mayo. Wouldn't recommend it.

It was very disappointing. The meat (porc) was fine but the broth (miso) was tasteless. When we said something about it, we were only given a bowl of miso paste to enhance the taste. You only imagine yourself in an Asian atmosphere because there is absolutely no attention to furnishings, decoration or style.

There are many ramen restaurants in Amsterdam, but this one, in my opinion, unfortunately isn't one of the better ones. The ramen itself is fine, although the frozen version is just as good. The broth, perhaps the most important component of a good ramen, was nothing special. The miso was barely noticeable, the shoyu ramen tasted more Chinese than Japanese, and the paitan ramen lacked any depth. The fact that the egg was overcooked and there was a lot of cabbage and carrot in the ramen also detracted from the authenticity. The service was friendly, but ultimately, that's not what I came for.

Fantastic Ramen, very authentic. Not the fanciest, but just real! If you like more flavorful "westernized" ramen, look elsewhere. Sora is simple ramen done the right way, really reminds me of what you would taste in Japan. I only order tonkotsu wherever i go, and this one was great.

While it has been our favorite place for ramen since its opening in 2016, today we had poor experience with service. We waited for 2 ramens for an entire hour, then one arrived with promise for a second in a bit, we shared it, the second didn’t arrive in another 30 mins. I noticed something similar happened to other customers. There was no communication or proper owner’s attention after we highlighted the issue. The obvious problem was a big delivery app preparation, while the restaurant was full of customers. It is a pity that restaurants these days pay less attention to loyal customers, definitely not winning strategy on the long run.

I went here specifically for the tonkotsu ramen. Their stock is incredible. Rich and thick with significant porky flavour. It was also served extremely hot. Noodles are the chewy and stretchy type. For the price of the bowl, I was surprised how little you get in it in terms of toppings tho. Not great for value in that area. Seriously needed an egg.

Broth just wasn’t as good as we expected. Even the spicy ramen were not spicy at all unfortunately. Service was great though! Really friendly

The ramen here is always great! Cozy place so you can expect a bit of waiting, but usually you’re seated after not too long. Have come back a lot of times.
