SORA Sapporo Ramen in Oude Pijp

While it has been our favorite place for ramen since its opening in 2016, today we had poor experience with service. We waited for 2 ramens for an entire hour, then one arrived with promise for a second in a bit, we shared it, the second didn’t arrive in another 30 mins. I noticed something similar happened to other customers. There was no communication or proper owner’s attention after we highlighted the issue. The obvious problem was a big delivery app preparation, while the restaurant was full of customers. It is a pity that restaurants these days pay less attention to loyal customers, definitely not winning strategy on the long run.

I went here specifically for the tonkotsu ramen. Their stock is incredible. Rich and thick with significant porky flavour. It was also served extremely hot. Noodles are the chewy and stretchy type. For the price of the bowl, I was surprised how little you get in it in terms of toppings tho. Not great for value in that area. Seriously needed an egg.

Broth just wasn’t as good as we expected. Even the spicy ramen were not spicy at all unfortunately. Service was great though! Really friendly

The ramen here is always great! Cozy place so you can expect a bit of waiting, but usually you’re seated after not too long. Have come back a lot of times.

If you are looking for good ramen in Amsterdam don't look any further. I would say it is the best Ramen I had in Amsterdam, and among the best I had ever. The staff is friendly and the food is always fresh. The restaurant is small, so you might have to wait a bit till a table is free.

Amazing ramen stop on my December visit to Amsterdam!

The ramen here is very good and the service is great! I got the Gokujyo Sapporo Kuro Miso Ramen and it was good, but had quite a bit of veggies. I like more noodles typically with some veggies, but it’s was almost 60% veggies. That said, the broth was incredible. I would come back to try some of the other ramens! I hope to come back when in Amsterdam 🤙

Crowded when we were there without much seating for groups, but the food was excellent.

Cozy ramen shop in de Pijp area of amsterdam! - Tried out their tonkotsu ramen. It is quite creamy, good consistency. Noodles are nice and chewy and cha siu tastes really good. - It is quite cozy and popular. Me and my friends however got in without queue. You can expect the place to be crowded. - Vibe was pretty good. I might be back to taste the other ramens you guys have.

One of the most authentic ramen I've ever tried in my life. Unfortunately I have never been to Japan, but it is clear that this place (without reservation) offers an authentic experience, the ramen is not excessively priced but it is truly exceptional and very distant from the flavors that are usually found around now. Super recommended, I will take every person I know there. The staff is super friendly and makes you feel at home, a dream!

The ramen at Sapporo Ramen in Amsterdam is really good and authentic. While it’s a bit on the expensive side, you definitely get your money’s worth with the generous portions. We ordered a ramen with chashu and karaage, and both were exceptional. The chashu was perfectly fatty and full of flavor, while the karaage was crispy and flavorful on its own, and after soaking in the ramen for a while, it turned deliciously juicy. The noodles were also very tasty. I’m not sure if they’re handmade or not, but they were definitely delicious and worked good with the broth. The amount of greens was a bit too much for my liking but I know many people like it that way. That said, the carrots in the mix were a great addition and added a nice balance to the dish. The beers were also a highlight, served in ice-cold glasses, which is something I always appreciate. Finally, the staff at Sapporo Ramen were incredibly welcoming and friendly. You can see how much they care about their restaurant, and that made the experience even better. I’ll definitely be visiting this establishment again in the future.

Service was great, but unfortunately their ramens were mediocre. Something about the broth for both ramen was simply not fulfilling. Takoyaki was actually the best among the 3 things we ordered

The staff are all Japanese and the ramen is quite delicious. It’s much, much more delicious than some Chinese holiday dishes!

New favorite ramen place in Amsterdam

Food was ok but how am I supposed to eat ramen with no utensils? I obviously requested this on the app, but it should be included always. I’m sitting in a hotel room with a bowl of ramen and I’m eating it like a cat.

If its cold outside, just get in here and eat. It will warm your heart. Thank me later!

I’ve tried the SORA Sapporo - West branch before so I know what to expect (in a good way). We did walk-in around 7.50pm but surprisingly it’s still full of people. There were 4 queues ahead of us so we had to wait around 20 mins. Luckily I was there to chitchat with my friend so it made our waiting time shorter. The ordered Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen and Spicy Miso Ramen. They all come out well. The noodles cooked perfectly so there were not mushy after a while. The soup is good as usual. The staffs are friendly and helpful. They are a bit lacked of attentive but I understand because there are full of customers when I visited. I find that I always get a table at the west branch so maybe you can have other option when there is too long queue here.

Amazing ramen in Amsterdam, worth the price

Relatively good Japanese food, maybe a bit more meat is a good idea, the staff and the kitchen looks to be clean.

We got food poisoning. The ramen is not authentic and it’s very salty. The egg (that you pay on top) was overly cooked and cold. The broth tasted like instant broth you can buy in Asian supermarkets. We had to share our table and we were 6 people squeezed in a table of 4. Won’t comeback.

It’s hard to describe how delicious it is. I’m not going to lie to you. I regret it after eating it.

We were asked to share our table with another couple. Usually I don't mind, especially when the restaurant is busy, but our table was so small, that sharing the table with another couple meant that we were essentially on a double date. I declined but they effectively insisted. I hadn't seen my friend in more than 2 years, so this was highly frustrating as I could no longer hear her speak over the people sat next to us, let alone, have a private conversation. I'm disappointed that SORA Sapporo Ramen prioritized getting money for 2 more bowls of ramen than ensuring the comfort of their current guests. The ramen is very good and I've ordered it many of times, but this experience was so awful that my friend and I agreed to never return. We will keep our money with Fou Fow Ramen.

Really bad stomach ache after eating here. I had high hopes for this ramen shop, but unfortunately, it fell short. The egg was served cold and had no flavor, which was a big letdown right from the start. The broth was overwhelmingly salty with a strange aftertaste, lacking the depth and richness I expect from good ramen. The noodles also seemed pre-packaged and not freshly made, with a slightly mushy texture that didn’t hold up well in the broth. Toppings like the chashu were dry and tough, adding little to the meal. As someone who lived in Japan for a while, I can confidently say this isn’t even close to authentic ramen. It felt like a poor imitation. The atmosphere of the shop was fine, but that’s where the positives end. For the price, the quality just doesn’t match up. There are far better ramen spots out there. I wouldn’t recommend this place if you're after a truly satisfying and authentic ramen experience.

Friendly and prompt service with the willingness to accommodate needs. The food was delicious having tried the miso and shoyu ramen along with a few of the sides. We arrived on a rainy day which is perfect ramen weather and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, I could even recognize some of the songs playing (Japanese hits). I’d recommend eating here.

Really hearty ramen. Unfortunately, they didn't have any spicy veggie ramen, but the other ones were also great. Would recommend getting eggs as a topping because they go so well with ramen. The mochi was also nice but nothing extraordinary.

Expensive. To be honest, I don't think it's worth paying this price for. The basic ramen is about 17 euros, so I think I'll go somewhere else next time... There is 11 euro ramen in my neighborhood, but it is 100 times better... . There are a lot of delicious ramen places, so everyone should go somewhere else.

We enjoyed a nice hot lunch here on a rainy afternoon. Upon entering we were given the card and told that we could order via the QR code or from the staff themselves. We chose the QR option. We shared the edamame, veg gyoza and spicy miso veg ramen. The food was very good. The edamame were salty and warm and the gyoza were crispy and delicious. The broth was layered and therefore well flavoured. The soup itself was filling. The marinated egg (which we ordered extra) completed the dish. The ramune yuzu drink is an experience: you have to follow the instructions to open it. Nice drink. Afterwards we could simply pay at the cash register. The service was very fast and the staff friendly. I would highly recommend this place.

Got food poisoning. In addition, I already had the idea that the chicken in my triple mala ramen was not cooked enough. My egg looked like it came out of the refrigerator so cold. Ingredients tasted very cheap for how expensive the dish was. Staff were friendly.

Delicious ramen! In addition, the interior is very cozy and it is as if you are entering old Japan. The Octopus Karaage was tasty, but the ketchup on top had some question marks, Gyoza's were great! The service could have been a bit better, after 20 minutes we discovered that it had to be done via QR otherwise you could have to wait all evening. In my opinion, this makes it all a bit impersonal, while it actually looks like a very intimate restaurant. Finally, the shaved ice was a nice ending, but the mochis were old and tough. All in all the ramen was master and well worth it, one of the best in Damsko!

Oh my goodness, this is the best ramen I have ever had in my life: the ramen has a very savoury taste and they put enough veggies in it too. The service is sweet and welcoming and are very kind, if you don’t know how to do something and always have a smile on their faces. The atmosphere is cozy and warming, the tables are very nice and everything is organised. So, if you are going to eat ramen somewhere. Go to Sora!!!!

Used to find the food very good but their signature dish today was unfortunately quite bland - and more expensive than before. The noodles were slightly undercooked but most importantly the broth was insipid. Not sure what happened: new chef? new recipe?

The place could use an upgrade, and I am not liking the “order via QR code” all that much, but it’s the ramen that matters. Full of vegetables, delicious broth, and chewy noodles.

I recommend you order extra spicy paste! The spicy ramen was not spicy. Further, very friendly staff. We were warmly welcomed! Ordering and paying via QR is convenient and fast.

Used to be a good place. However, i believe the chef has changed. Noodles were stuck to each other, soup doesnt taste good as before, and matcha icecream has very little match flavor. They have good beer tho.

Not my ramen, bland and chicken was too fatty and slimy. No distinct flavor. I don’t mind paying for good quality, but this was expensive and a waste of money for me.

Sorry, but there was literally nothing in it… it costs 19 euros and you get nothing for it. Doesn’t taste good and we went away hungry.

I would say, so far the only place that has met expectations, good, prices I think, calibrated to the local cost of living.

Great food and very good vegan options. The menu is simple but they're very good at what they do (which is excellent ramen). A friend of mine with extensive dietary restrictions (vegan, gluten free, etc) can also eat here as you can change a lot about the dishes. Ordering through a QR code is easy and fast, the service is quick and the drinks are also good.

Good ramen but it was rather fat unfortunately. The space inside the restaurant is also a little cramped but it does have a good atmosphere. I will try again sometime, as I did enjoy my meal.

It’s my third time at SORA Ramen. I have tried different options from SORA in my three times here, and the most classic is the best in my opinion. This place goes in my top 10 but the broth and general taste does not ‘hit the spot’ for me. Especially for my friend who took the vegetarian spicy miso ramen, I tasted hers too and the broth had no miso taste, only chili and veggies taste which was a bit disappointing. The non-vegetarian (meat) are good though! But again not the best most worked broth for me :( The atmosphere is still really nice and staff is great, however I’ve tasted better

Mid ramen. Had the tonkotsu and shoyu specials and the broth was nothing special and strangely bitter. On the plus side, you do get a lot of tasty toppings, ok noodles, and a solid selection of beer and sake. In terms of side dishes – the karaage chicken was rather lame.

Gokujo Sapporo Kuro Miso ramen was good, but rather expensive at €20,50. Service was polite and efficient. You guys should really clean the floor.

It used to be the best ramen restaurant in town. But after their renovation/modernization the quality of their ramen taste started to be just like every ramen resto in Amsterdam. They also start giving very small servings while increasing the price. I do understand the inflation but cutting portions while increasing the price isn’t how you’ll going to make your avid customers stayed. I must say , this restaurant doesn’t give me the same excitement to eat like before.

I really liked the Sora Sapporo Ramen. Food5 stars plus, great service. Also the prices are ok for Amsterdam. I really recommend the Seasonal Ramen, gyoza vegetable and chicken. The restaurant has a Japanese atmosphere somehow, really nice place to go out on a Friday night. Really recommend it! I even ordered home food from Sora Sapporo Ramen, and the tase was confirmed again.

Great ramen, cheap sake, nothing more to ask for.

We ordered Karaage for € 9,10 and some of the pieces were very small… also the vegetable ramen soup didn’t have flavor… we were looking forward to come here but it was disappointing.

Actually food is amazing, but it is *always* crowded and there are no reservations so you will definitely have to wait to get a table. Portions are huge, very tasty and good and price per portion is 18/20€.

Edit after 5 years: This used to be our fav getaway and guilty pleasure. Yeah it is a bit salty, yeah it is a bit fatty but that is what makes it good. But the update is due to crazy price increase over the last months and the payment system. The prices were already on the higher side before and now they became very inconvenient. 20 eur for a bowl of ramen without even adding the egg is just too much and against the philosophy of ramen. It is a price increase of 20%. We used to come as much as every week but now we don’t feel like it is worth it anymore and maybe come once every two months. Why the QR ordering, covid does not exist anymore?! It’s a pity. Old review: The most Japanese Ramen you can find in Amsterdam. The prices are a bit on the higher side but def. worth it. Since it is very popular you might have to wait 15 min to 1 hr for a table, they take no reservations.

今回はオランダ アムステルダムにある、"Sapporo Ramen SORA"に行って参りました。 こちらはその名の通り、オランダアムステルダムで、日本の札幌味噌ラーメンを頂けるラーメン屋さんで、どこまで再現され、どれだけオランダの方々の心を掴む味となっているかが気になりました。 しかし、その味、スープの深み、麺の食感、食べ応えは抜群で、かなり完成度高く、食べ応え抜群のお店でした。 オランダの地で懐かしさも感じ、日本の料理がここまで慕われ、行列のできる人気店となっている誇らしい気持ちもあいまり、とても素敵なお店だと思いました。 またぜひお伺いしたいです！

I’m still searching for the best ramen in Amsterdam. I had the spicy Miso ramen, which I enjoyed. The flavour was good and I really enjoyed trying broth, but I would have preferred thinner noodles. The vegetarian gyoza were very good. Service was fine. At one point someone took my teacup. I thought (assumed) they were going to refill it with hot water but they didn’t return. This is small and popular place that fills up easily. The decor is basic and not much to speak of. People just go for the ramen.

certainly good but not as great as the sora sapporo ramen in west, in the marco polostraat: one star off for the qr-code ordering system*, and another for the small portion kimchi, really small for that price - one star up for the service and atmosphere, feeling really authentic like the one in west - both places highly recommended! * perhaps it seems convenient to work with qr-code-ordering systems in .. well, ... cosy places, to reduce footwork and such, but we really need more human touch and interaction, especially in restaurants, bars et cetera. not a turn-off as such, but redundant for sure.

Very cozy spot with great food. Enjoyed my spicy miso ramen and vegetable gyoza. The broth was really flavourful and delicious. Minus a star for the ordering system. Were asked to scan a QR code and order on our mobiles, but our phones were on a single bar of service and not loading the website needed. Took a minute to flag someone down but were able to order the regular way. Suggest offering WiFi to support this method.

Heerlijk gegeten, personeel vriendelijk. Kwamen bij toeval langs en loopt er zo langs heen maar zeker een aanrader.

The ramen is great, but the takoyaki was a big disappointment. The octopus inside is as hard as rubber, i think i chewed my cheek in an attempt to chew that octopus! And i say that from the perspective of someone who has had way too many takoyakis to know the difference.
