UPDATED REVIEW (in response to owner’s reply): After reading the response to my original review, I feel the need to update it. The restaurant tries to justify the bad quality by saying that fried food naturally gets soggy in a takeaway box after 15 minutes. This is simply not true in my case. I placed the order in person at the restaurant, and we opened the food within 10–15 minutes, just a short walk away in Vondelpark. Despite the short time, the chicken was completely soggy, soaked in oil, and tasted awful — as if it had been pre-cooked earlier and reheated for takeaway. This wasn’t just about it not being “crispy,” it was genuinely unpleasant to eat. The appearance of the dish was nothing like the photos shown on the menu. What’s worse is that instead of acknowledging the issue, the restaurant replies with a sarcastic tone, asking me to name the “magic restaurant” where takeaway fried food stays beautiful. That’s an unprofessional and dismissive attitude towards honest feedback. I paid €13.80 for food that went straight into the trash. I regret trusting the Google reviews. Based on both the food and the disrespectful response, I absolutely do not recommend this place. (On June 15th at 17:09, we placed a takeaway order for karaage directly at the Takumi Umaimon restaurant. The order was prepared quickly, but that was the only positive part of the experience. About 15 minutes later, when we opened the food to eat, we were extremely disappointed. The chicken pieces were soaked in oil, not crispy at all, and didn’t look fresh. I took one bite and all I could taste was stale, greasy oil. We had to throw almost all of it away. We paid €13.80 for something completely inedible. On top of that, the food looked nothing like the pictures on the menu or online. We trusted the good Google reviews, but it turned out to be a big mistake. I absolutely do not recommend this restaurant.)

Visitamos Takumi Umaimon el 15 de junio y hicimos un pedido para llevar para karaage a las 17: 09 . El personal preparó la comida rápidamente, lo que parecía prometedor. Sin embargo, cuando lo abrimos unos 15 minutos después, nos quedamos impactados. El pollo estaba completamente empapado en aceite, no crujiente en absoluto, y tenía un desagradable sabor grasiento y rancio. Solo logré tomar un bocado antes de decidir que no era comestible. El resto fue directo a la basura. Pagamos 13€. 80 por algo que no debería haberse servido en primer lugar. Lo que lo empeoró es que la comida no se parecía en nada a las fotos mostradas en el menú o en línea. Confiábamos en las críticas positivas de Google y esperábamos una calidad decente, pero esto fue una gran decepción. Basándonos en nuestra experiencia, no recomendaría este restaurante a nadie.

I have tried from the Karaage my friend ordered and I can confirm that it was a disappointment. We came to the restaurant together and ordered a take away. Then I have left to grab some drinks so we can enjoy the sun with good food and some drinks in Vondelpark. From the restaurant to Vondelpark it is approximately 10 minutes walk. If this is all it takes to turn the fried chiken into a soggy, greasy mess then you should reconsider your packaging.

We had ramen for the first time and were overwhelmed by the flavor. They only serve chicken ramen, and the chicken is halal. There are a few dishes with pork bacon, but everything else is seafood and chicken. According to the waitress, gyoza was not halal.

Super tasty food! Nice people. Service was a bit stiff at first, but that got better at the end. Atmosphere is okay, but it is very noisy when it is completely full of people. It was worth it with the tasty food!

Great ramen!! We had the creamy chicken and black garlic pork. Creamy chicken was favorite. Usually I go for pork but fancied somethings creamy and this was perfect! No chilli, just creamy goodness. There's sauces and chilli on each table so you can make it as spicy as you want. Service brilliant. Very attentive. Prices reasonable. Small queue when arriving but didn't wait long for a table.

Delicious! We came here because it was so highly rated on many websites. This was our first dinner and Amsterdam and we were impressed. The ramen was on point. Delicious noddles and toppings, the broth was so rich and tasty. Gyoza appetizer was great too! Service was decent, but that's all of Europe right lol. I enjoyed the ramen here more than most places and I definitely recommend coming here if you're in the mood!!

Very good ramen and Japanese curry. My family enjoyed all their dishes. I knocked off one star because the restrooms need some attention. Several fixtures are broken. When we entered there was no wait, but when we left, there was a long line that wrap around the establishment.

The expectations from the reviews were too high with respect to the experience. The orders arrived not contemporary, and the taste not so good. We had a ramen, veggie gyoza and teryaki chicken. The ramen is a bit overpriced (18-20€ for a bowl)

Dejaron las pipas de caca en mis gambas. Supongo que el resto de la comida estuvo bien, pero no podía dejar de pensar en lo asqueroso que fue que probablemente haya comido un poco de la pipa de caca antes de darme cuenta. Y estaba sentado allí en la mesa. Nadie vino a comprobar que nuestra comida estaba bien, así que tuve que llamar a alguien. Sacaron una de nuestras bebidas de la cuenta, pero incluso esto fue una molestia porque una camarera diferente vino con la cuenta y luego tuvo que ir a comprobar lo que la otra camarera había dicho sobre la bebida.

Food is average, a bit mild for my taste. Service is horrible, one of the female servers was very rude.

A great place to have delicious Ramen. Mala Chicken Ramen is the best one. The sesame ice cream was something unique for me and did not disappoint. Price for each Ramen bowl is around 18-20.

This is a very tasty ramen, with a true Asian flavor. The staff provided good service and were quick. There were many tables in the restaurant, but we didn't feel cramped. The restaurant has a bathroom. If we go to Amsterdam again, we will definitely go eat at this restaurant again!

The place was recommended to us and we were satisfied. We waited two minutes to be seated, but after ordering, the ramen arrived almost immediately. Generous portions and pleasant, colorful atmosphere. The service is fast and kind.

Before we visited a show at De La Mar... looking for something tasty nearby... time for Ramen! Immediately in line upon entering and that is a good sign at this type of restaurant. After waiting about fifteen minutes we were guided to a table, we had already looked at the menu online during that fifteen minutes, so we had to order immediately. After about 5 minutes our order was already served. For almost 19 euros you get a large bowl, but for this money we expected a little more meat. The taste is great, exactly as it should be and the atmosphere is good. We had a delicious meal. Staff spoke to us in English, but you often have that in Amsterdam. Is it recommended, absolutely! Itadakimasu! Food rating: 9 Atmosphere: 8 Price: 8 All-round; 8.5

Although there was a queue in front of the restaurant, our turn came quickly... We were very kindly informed that there would be a 10-minute waiting time, which passed in no time. It was slightly warm inside, but that's no surprise given the countless servings of ramen 🍜 - but everything without seeming overcrowded. The food is simply great! Aromatic, rich and very tasty. Would definitely come again! The only drawback, the toilet (men's) could have been a little cleaner. Update 04.2025: The food is still very tasty. Unfortunately the toilets are still a difficult issue :(

I'd say the prices are even a bit cheaper than other restaurants in Amsterdam. There's a wide selection of ramen and curry dishes, as well as gyoza and a good selection of vegetarian options. The ramen was truly delicious, and the service was very friendly and attentive. The tables aren't too close together, and the ambiance is also quite pleasant.

One of the best ramen I ever had

Fresh mint tea with honey was lovely. Spicy chicken miso ramen was delicious—crispy chicken and just enough spice in the soup that it didn’t matter that I would have had to pay extra for more chili sauce.

Delicious ramen. Super large portions, unfortunately I couldn't finish it. Average €18 per portion, but you get a large quantity. I had the version with shrimps and because I don't eat meat I could order it with vegetarian broth. They didn't make a fuss about it at all. It contained noodles, lots of vegetables, 2 skewers with shrimp, seaweed and half an egg. This one was highly recommended! The homemade ice tea was really not tasty. This was recommended to me by the waitress and she said it wasn't too sweet. However, it looked like it contained 8 lumps of sugar. Had a few sips, indicated this to the staff, but was still charged in full. There is nothing else offered instead of the ice tea. So I don't think that's really customer friendly. The staff is friendly but changes all the time, so this is inconvenient, especially if you indicate something and the replacement knows nothing about it. Furthermore, it was very busy. There used to be a sushi restaurant in this building, but it has been completely renovated with a number of Japanese-style booths, so it is very nicely decorated, just very close to the other tables.

Possibly and so far the best ramen I have ever eaten, the broth had a great flavor and the pasta had an incredible texture. The staff was very friendly, we had a waiter, with hair in the shape of a crest, it was bad for me not to have asked his name... when we tried to order and he heard that we were Spanish, he told us to order in your language so that I can practice that I am trying to learn it, that is, detail. Both my partner and I left very happy 😁

Fast service. We went as a couple, each had a ramen, and shared six spicy gyozas, leaving stuffed. Both ramen dishes were delicious.

The price has increased with inflation, but the portion has halved compared to 1 year ago. What I find especially SHAMELESS is that when paying they showed a screen for tips, from 20% down to 5%, and of course I clicked the big “NO TIPS”. This way it also becomes clear that it is not run by a Japanese company, but by people who exploit the good reputation of Japan. The food was good, but never again.

We were a bit cold and felt like eating Raman soup when we stumbled across this place. It was perfect. The soup was super tasty, just what we needed. Friendly and fast service. Highly recommend!

The Tantanmem was very tasty and also nice and spicy. The restaurant offers a great selection of different soups. The yuzu cheesecake for dessert was also very good. Kaarage Chicken is recommended as a starter. Unfortunately the gyoza tasted like my frozen gyoza from home - don't think they were fresh.

Best ramen in Amsterdam, but since they recently added the tipping menu to their pos every time you pay i thought it was quite a predatory practice that had no place in the NL

No japanese staff even in the kitchen, WiFi out of order, very bad "japanese green tea bag" for 4,5€!

Had a delicious meal with a friend from Japan. We both had the vegan one and the broth was rich in flavour.Really tasty. The atmosphere in the restaurant was also great, with all those cozy lamps. And from Noord see Lights I of course really pay attention to that ;). We were lucky with our spot, because we were there around 6:00 PM so we were able to get a preferential spot. Less than fifteen minutes later there was a queue, and that says enough about its popularity. Completely justified!

Delicious ramen, good side dishes as well. Busy place, ensure to pre book or be ready to wait a while, although the wait is worth the food. Nearby parking garage but too expensive considering Ams standard. Super quick service even during busy hours.

What a great place! My partner and I went here for a date on a Friday night and despite not having been able to place a reservation, we got in after only like 10mins of waiting. (The staff informed us of waiting times of at least 15mins.) While we were waiting, we had already looked at the menu, so we were able to pick quickly, and the service staff came by quickly too, despite the establishment being filled to the brim. After we had ordered, the food came really quickly, maybe 10 to 15mins tops, and the portion sizes were quite big too. My partner barely finished theirs, and so did I (we were both quite hungry 😄). Would definitely come back next time I'm in Amsterdam!

This was the second branch we went to, we liked it very much. Their ramen is very good, but the prices are a little expensive. You should definitely try the dumplings called Okonomi gyoza, they tasted great. The Japanese beer was also mild and enjoyable. A must-try restaurant in Amsterdam.

Delicious food! Fast service! That's why there is often a very long line outside.

The ramen was fine, average for Japanese food, but the service was really poor. I walked in the door and two waitresses passed by me several times, but no one brought me to the table. I also had to wait a long time for them to bring the menu. The ramen took about twenty+ minutes, but it’s just noodle why did I have to wait so long…?Two white men at the adjacent table came later than me but were served quicker, and the waitress offered to bring them their check but then neglected me when I finished my food. If you’re Asian then I definitely don’t recommend you this restaurant because this dining experience was one of my worsts in Amsterdam.

A good ramen restaurant in Amsterdam. On a winter night, having a hot bowl of ramen can warm up your body. The chewy noodles combined with the hot soup are very delicious. If you're passing by, consider stopping by to enjoy a bowl of ramen.

Yo estaba allí para su oferta de almuerzo ‘cualquier ramen regular + una opción de aperitivo por 5 €’ Me senté a las 14: 50 , tuvo que esperar hasta el 15 : 02 para pedir mi almuerzo, a pesar de que el lugar estaba en su mayoría vacío. Entonces me dijeron: «El trato de almuerzo es hasta el 15 : 00 ¿En serio? Promueven un trato de almuerzo para atraer clientes y luego tratan de evitarlo. . táctica barata. . Pls me pidieron que cambiara mi mesa por una más pequeña, a pesar de que el lugar estaba vacío en ese momento! Mal servicio, camareras antipáticas... tácticas deshonestas... Encima, comida media a aceptable. .

Mediocre quality food. Large plate of 50/50 rice and non-spicy satay sauce. Meat was cheap quality. Real Japanese will not be proud of this food. Canteen fast food. Staff is friendly. This is not recommended for Amsterdam residents.

I went specifically for the Katsu Curry and my +1 ended up ordering the Ramen (which some friends have said is the best in AMS). Both were very good, also a lot of food for the price. Overall great food, nice ambience and the service was good (always nice and friendly).

24. 11. 22 It was very delicious near Rembrandt Square 😆 The two of us ordered Sapporo Ebi miso ramen. I really enjoyed both of them! However, the ramen broth itself was not very hot 😢 It's good to eat, but it would have been nice if it was a little hotter! There weren't many types of beer. The price including drinks is a little over 20 euros. It's not cheap, but considering the area 😊 There were so many customers that I had to wait a while to enter. We ate quickly It took a while to call the employees. I saw a lot of Japanese employees! The turnover rate is fast 😉

Gyōza chicken and chicken ramen soup, normal and creamy options are really tasty. The staff is very nice and the restaurant very clean. Location, in the Leidsplein is nice, too.
