The restaurant was so crowded, you need a reservation... We went without one and waited for about 25 minutes... Honestly, the restaurant wasn't amazing. I tried the Japanese restaurant next door, and it was much tastier... We ordered chicken skewers, but they had a chicken smell, and we didn't like them.

We walked in and we pleased with the ambience. However, I was quite disappointed with the Ramen. I was served like warm broth with hot noodles; the broth should be hot, not luke warm... Nearly cold. Also, the Ramen was bland. This place is not worthy of 4 stars.

Commercial place, the quality of the food is okay nothing special. Good if you are in the area and don’t want to wait (is without reservation also for big group) not bad but not also the favorite place that you’ll remember.

I visited yesterday and tried the chicken ramen. To be fair, it wasn't bad, but I have to say it was pretty average, nothing special or memorable about the broth or toppings. Based on the hype, I found the overall experience and the restaurant itself to be overrated. It's fine if you're in the area, but don't go out of your way expecting a standout bowl of ramen.

We listened to my dear daughter, who said we shouldn't be prejudiced, and went in as a family. They have a very good and delicious ramen on this cold Amsterdam evening. If you ever find yourself in Amsterdam, you absolutely must visit Takumi Umaimon.

i go to takumi quite often, and this time was the first in Amsterdam. The atmosphere was great, pleasant temperature and soft music. the staff could be a bit more friendlier when taking costumers, but its not much of a bother to me. the food, i got the karaage curry & added marinated eggs extra. The eggs had little piece of eggshell that i bit on, its unpleasant to have that feeling on your teeth.. and second, when the plate just arrived at my table, some parts of the rice was hard, so i only scooped from the bottom. explained to the staff after paying, and the lovely gentleman replied accordingly and respectfully. i really like takumi. so i'll still come back at other locations.

We had a great experience in this ramen restaurant. They gave us very good seats for lunch. We ordered ramen and gyoza. The ramen was big, so the staff offered to split it for us and brought an extra bowl — it was very nice of them. I also tried the plum wine, and it was very tasty. We liked the place so much that we came back again the next day for lunch.

I ordered spicy kara-ebi kushi miso ramen - which combine crispy chicken bites and shrimp skewer with vegetables and flavorful mild spicy soup. It was really tasty - perfect for cold weather. I also had homemade ice tea with lemon and mint, was good as well, but i cannot really feel hint of lemon or mint there. Service was really nice and friendly, venue is spacious, plenty of sits. Prices are also average, they have loyalty system as well, which is very nice

Good vegan options available. The vegan abura soba was absolutely delicious! Staff were friendly and helpful. The vibe in the restaurant is bright. It seems popular so try to avoid peak dinner time, or try to be early so you don't have to wait in line.

We're already familiar with this chain; we've been there several times in Milan. Very nice place, with a wide selection of dishes. The ramen and gyoza are very good. Service is always friendly and fast. Prices are average.

Ramen was good, but they could not guarantee the food would be 100% safe due to my dietary restrictions to shelfish. it was super busy - we got our food super fast (i was impressed and scared at the same time) This was quite pricy, but then again we are in Leidseplain Staff was friendly

The perfect ramen for a cold rainy night, got the spicy ramen extra spicy with karage & tempora shrimp. The broth was so rich. The karage & shrimp were the best I’ve ever had - perfectly crispy, delicate, the meat so tender. I was so hungry and the food was so good - I forgot to take a picture. HUGE portion sizes. Come hungry. The line moves quickly. The atmosphere is really cute.

The ramen was good, but the rest left us somewhat indifferent. We'd heard so much about this place that we probably had high expectations. Still, everything was good.

Rich in flavour, full of ingredients, nothing more is needed, or maybe a bigger stomach. Full recomendation!

Really delicious ramen, highly recommended

On a Saturday evening, we got a table for 8 people. We had to wait next door for about a beer until we were called and given a table. The food was delicious, even for the vegetarians in our group.

Went with my daughter, & infant son in stroller on a Friday afternoon. Really nice, professional waitress helped seat us despite the embarrassment of my largish stroller. Food was true Japanese comfort food. All the staff who brought food to table were pleasant, quick & unobtrusive. Waitress somehow always showed up or noticed us at right intervals when we wanted her. I was able to tend to my children’s needs comfortably. I even noticed there’s an infant changing pad next to the toilet! My daughter loved the octopus balls & salad.

Fast service, great food. Went with +2. Had their special ramen and literally all sides, really tasty and brought to the table as it’s ready.

This was the best and most delicious ramen we’ve ever had – far beyond what we could have expected. We also tried the veggie gyozas, which were absolutely fantastic. Kudos to the waiters for their kindness, friendliness, and the incredibly fast service. The atmosphere was fantastic, full of energy and vibe, yet with great acoustics so we could easily talk without shouting. If I could give 6 stars for food, service, and atmosphere, you would have them all. Definitely coming back on my next visit to Amsterdam!

To be honest; if you've ever been to Japan DON'T GO HERE. Actually a disgrace to Japan, the taste was really weak and bad. Also the service really not good. Inside looks fun though

And off course we ended the dinner with the Taiyaki icecream! 20250319 That taiyaki dessert is too DIE for, Its jus soo good! But the batter from the pumpkin croquettes is not that good still. 20230212 There has been a change in quality, the person frying the foods is not doing a good job. Its more soggy than crunchy and thats not a good thing. UPDATE: 20200714 Even though I wrote this review 2 years ago,, this place is still one of my favorites of Amsterdam! Located at the Leidseplein inside an alley with terraces. The menu has quite a lot of items including wide variaties of ramens and side dishes (dont forget to order the pumpkin croquettes!) The curry is also something that should be ordered and if you can not make a choice they also have SET menus. And surely dont skip the desserts! Its great to eat here if you got plans/events near this place. The special miso ramen is really delicious!

I've had better versions of this before. But I can't compare them to the restaurants in Amsterdam. The restaurant was very hot, and the tables smelled like fish.

I visited this ramen place and, while the ramen itself was delicious, the service left much to be desired. The restaurant wasn’t busy, yet the servers seemed more focused on talking to each other than on attending customers. I had to wait quite a while just to get their attention and ask for a spoon. The food was great, but the service really needs improvement.

We had lunch here for 4 on the New Years Day. Loved the food, the broth was too good. Atmosphere was nice but would have loved a bit of Japanese touch. Absolutely recommended!

We discovered this restaurant by chance and what a discovery!! This is the best ramen we have ever eaten in our lives!! A real treat!! If you are a ramen lover, don't hesitate for a moment!

beware portions are huge! went there with my boyfriend (who usually manages to eat his plate and finish mine) but we were SO FULL. but it was absolutely delicious and the prices were very fair. definitely recommended but come prepared hahaha

I highly recommend a visit to this ramen place in Amsterdam! As a big fan of Japanese cuisine, I found everything I love in this ramen place: a flavorful broth, perfectly matched toppings, and a good variety of choices. You even have the option of a Japanese curry or a gyoza-don if your appetite isn't ramen-oriented. The service team is very friendly, polite, and welcoming. The decor is also very attractive. Good value for money. If you like Japanese cuisine, you can go there with your eyes closed and you won't be disappointed.

Unfortunately not a good experience. I took my Japanese friend here because we both like good ramen, the reviews are good and we were near, so that's why we went here. I know the ramen in Europe is not near as good as the one in Japan, but how bad could it be right? I ordered the Mala Chicken Noukou Ramen, and my friend the normal Noukou Ramen. Unfortunately we could directly see that the noodles are from very cheap quality. And to my surprise, my noodles were not even fully cooked yet. They sticked together and there was a hard lump in it. I told the staff and he took my dish to the kitchen. At first he didn't wanna take it and said to me that it could be normal that the noodles can stick like this. Then he took it and came back later with a completely new portion (that was good). However, no apology or anything from their side, just a grumpy face (actually all the staff members didn't look like they were enjoying being there). Unfortunately, the ramen which came back had the same issue. Still a lump in the noodles. I decided to eat it, but it was not good. The broth itself was okay, not special. The place itself is really nice. Good location and atmosphere.

I am a regular customer at Umaimon, and it was always my go to spot. However, today’s experience completely ruined my perception of the restaurant. We walked in asking for a table for two. We were led to our table, but it was in a crowded area as there were two people seating on a bench next to me which made me feel very uncomfortable. We have asked for a different table and were told to wait at the entrance, which was fine with us. However, one of the workers saw us walk back, and instead of asking normally, she asked with an irritated tone “WHAT?” Even raising her voice. I am sorry, but if that’s the service that you provide to customers, no matter regular or first-time, you shouldn’t be working in a restaurant. As a person with experience in hospitality, I know what it feels like to be stressed when the restaurant is full, but it doesn’t mean that you can give attitude to the customers, who were already fine with waiting. Every time I come to Umaimon, I always tip the workers because I understand what it feels like to work in a busy environment and I like the food, but I definitely won’t be coming back in a long time unless there’s a change in the customer experience.

Great ramen - highly recommended!

A bit hidden, but stylish and cozy inside – and the ramen really impress with both taste and quality.

After a culinary tour of Japan, I can only conclude that Umaimon can definitely do better than this. It's all about the broth. And it was simply bland, boring, lacking a pleasant mouthfeel and absolutely no depth. Either they were better a few years ago, or my idea of ramen has changed significantly. But I just couldn't get excited about this anymore. And especially for this price, I expect something better. Sorry.

Best ramen in Amsterdam, but since they recently added the tipping menu to their pos every time you pay i thought it was quite a predatory practice that had no place in the NL, still 5 stars

Visted with family. Staff recievd us well and offered great service throughout the visit. Great fresh japanese food . Mini options on ramen was good for kids. Would recommend. Worth travelling all the way , would highly recommend.

Went here twice that’s how nice the food was, it was affordable, tasty and the location was great! I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, service and food. The food was piping hot, the wakame salad was delicious and the miso soup was the right flavours for the meals!

Taste is good but by the table was a bit sticky, probably something leftover from previous customers. Great service people.

Good authentic ramen about €15 each bowl. The ramen portion is big with lots of meat. They also have curry rice and side dishes. Tap water on the house is available. (Prices are now about €19 for ramen in 2025)

I had the chicken teriyaki ramen with cold green tea. It was delicious! The staff was very friendly. I arrived around 12:30 and was served immediately. The atmosphere is cozy, and there's a sort of terrace, not entirely outdoors, but with skylights. Definitely recommended!

An absolute must for ramen lovers in Amsterdam! We visited Umaimon Chicken Ramen on Leidseplein – and it was a true culinary experience! The cozy atmosphere immediately captivated us upon arrival. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and gave us great advice, even though the restaurant was busy. The menu is diverse and leaves nothing to be desired. We tried several different ramen dishes – we were particularly impressed by the chicken ramen with tender chicken, aromatic broth, fresh vegetables, and a perfectly cooked egg. The tom yum ramen with shrimp was also a real highlight: pleasantly spicy, savory, and wonderfully exotic. Our side dishes included chicken katsu – super crispy on the outside, wonderfully juicy on the inside – and gyoza, which were also delicious. This was accompanied by homemade iced tea, which was not only refreshing but also beautifully presented in a glass. 💬 Our verdict: Great food, friendly service, and an authentic Japanese atmosphere – we felt completely at home and will definitely be back. Umaimon is definitely a place we can recommend to anyone who loves ramen or simply appreciates good food.

Waste of Time: l visited the restaurant with exception of a 4.6 restaurant with great food. Was I wrong, the Spicy Miso Ramen had bubble in it, the miso broth was watered down, lacked flavor and was overall disappointed. The fried chicken that came with the Ramen was undercooked. The skin was still undercooked The curry was bland with no flavor, straight out of the packet and add water!!! Thea Goyza, soup and salad was good, but the main entrées need looks of work. If you are looking for some knockout variations of Japanese Ramen and curry by all means visit, but if you want some real authentic Ramen and curry avoid this place!!!

Tried a chicken curry which was really good and reminded me of my trip to Japan. Service was fast and the staff were very helpful and kind.

I have tried from the Karaage my friend ordered and I can confirm that it was a disappointment. We came to the restaurant together and ordered a take away. Then I have left to grab some drinks so we can enjoy the sun with good food and some drinks in Vondelpark. From the restaurant to Vondelpark it is approximately 10 minutes walk. If this is all it takes to turn the fried chiken into a soggy, greasy mess then you should reconsider your packaging.

Visitamos Takumi Umaimon el 15 de junio y hicimos un pedido para llevar para karaage a las 17: 09 . El personal preparó la comida rápidamente, lo que parecía prometedor. Sin embargo, cuando lo abrimos unos 15 minutos después, nos quedamos impactados. El pollo estaba completamente empapado en aceite, no crujiente en absoluto, y tenía un desagradable sabor grasiento y rancio. Solo logré tomar un bocado antes de decidir que no era comestible. El resto fue directo a la basura. Pagamos 13€. 80 por algo que no debería haberse servido en primer lugar. Lo que lo empeoró es que la comida no se parecía en nada a las fotos mostradas en el menú o en línea. Confiábamos en las críticas positivas de Google y esperábamos una calidad decente, pero esto fue una gran decepción. Basándonos en nuestra experiencia, no recomendaría este restaurante a nadie.
