Spirit Amsterdam in Oostelijke Eilanden/Kadijken

One of my favorite places in Amsterdam. Each dish has all the ingredients and allergens listed. Perfect if you look for dairy-free and gluten-free options. Many vegan ice cream options, vegan cakes, and other desserts. Cold and warm dishes, plus delicious soups. As it's a buffet, service is quite fast, and they are open until late. If you are with kids, they have a special section for them to play. Highly recommended!

Nice concept, paying by weight. Everything vegetarian and choose your own portion size.

There’s no one to welcome you—you just grab your plate and eat. A note on the table asks you to leave your empty dishes near the dishwasher, but there’s no proper shelf or trolley for this. Instead, there was a messy corner full of dirty dishes. The prices are a bit high for what they offer, with limited hot dish options and almost everything being fried. Disappointing experience overall.

Expensive tasteless food, mice walking around the place... Not very hygienic.

Fairly good food in general (big downside for the lasagna). 100% vegetarian (with vegan option). Too bad some things were empty (but it was quite late when we went there). I also think that there should be a little more hot accompaniment, because the choice of starchy foods was quite poor. In terms of price it is not cheaper than a traditional restaurant because it can quickly add up as it is by weight and when it is the first time you go there you may be tempted to want to taste a lot of thing. For the service difficult to talk about something that is almost non-existent. No welcome or explanation of the concept, the waitress who passes by us when we are looking for a table and who does not say hello. Same thing for the person at the checkout where I said hello twice without getting a response.

Cornflake encrusted cauliflower and yuzu cake were our favorites on this visit, but honestly everything was lekker! We had previously visited the Rotterdam location, but Amsterdam has a better setup in terms of the seating IMHO. Spirit has the widest selection of delicious vegan dishes you will find anywhere. Never disappointed.

Absolutely wonderful! A huge buffet choice of wonderfully delicious foods. Despite our restricted diets, we have been able to fill our plates with a massive selection - and it all tastes SOOOO good. Beer and other drinks available too. Clean and relaxing. We'll be there again tonight - can't wait!

The food was tasty, but the interior decoration could be a lot nicer.

Solid, healthy and varied vegetarian food, also for breakfast, lunch, or in between. It's a buffet, you pay by weight (although they also have soup and cake per portion). Handy place if you want to eat something healthy quickly or for a lunch appointment, less suitable for a nice, extensive dinner.

Delicious food, everything organic and vegetarian. Service excellent and reception good, especially if you are new to this concept. Kids can also have fun. Odin supermarket next door. Unfortunately, parking is expensive and challenging.

De smaken zijn heerlijk, ik had alleen verwacht dat voor het diner ook warme gerechten zouden zijn. Hetgeen wat warm zou moeten zijn was echt lauw/ bijna afgekoeld, vooral winterse gerechten als paddestoelen ( waren echt koud)en de groenten waren ook niet warm. Jammer, want anders zou het veel smakelijker zijn geweest.

Amazing buffet, chilled vibe, super good food.

You can eat daily fresh made organic vegetarian food. It tastes so good!! and you can weigh your plate and pay for the weight. the veggi steaks are so good, never tasted anything like it. and you can go in and out quickly. If you have kids it's so perfect as well. If you struggle choosing vegetarian over meat this is the place for you because everything is veg.

Vegetarian food super good, everything neat and clean. But unfortunately not my kind of food, many dishes are with garlic.

Delicious and enormous variety of ORGANIC vegetarian food! You can hardly get better in Amsterdam and something different than those endless vegetarian burgers and fries. The combinations of flavors and ingredients are quite special. Eat a small lunch here every week. It's just a shame that some of the staff come across as a bit haughty. Well yes. It is worth something to me to be able to eat tasty dishes and unsprayed organic ingredients from healthy soil somewhere other than at home. In short; highly recommended!

Cozy place with lots of different salads and warm dishes, all vegetarian and all great taste. We came for lunch. The ice cream was not that great though (we didn’t realize it would be vegan).

I regularly eat here, good experiences. Stop by tonight for a cup of coffee and lime cheesecake. I always take this. It was more watery and the lime flavor was missing. Very unfortunate. Do you have changes in the kitchen?

Nos encantó este lugar tanto que fuimos dos veces durante nuestra semana en Amsterdam. Me recordó a Tibits que era un embrujo habitual nuestro en el Reino Unido hasta que cerró. Gran selección de platos, todos etiquetados para alérgenos y la mayoría de los platos eran veganos también. El curry tempeh de cacahuete y la mousse de chocolate eran especialmente buenos.

Excellent place for both lunch and dinner, as well as a great spot to sit and study. The buffet offers a wonderful selection of vegan and vegetarian options, which is perfect for someone like me with a whole food plant-based diet. I really appreciate that you can clearly see all the ingredients in the dishes, making it easy to make informed choices.

Absolutely incredible. So many options and they’re all excellent quality and very fresh. And the best part - you can try a bit of everything! Just tomber to leave room for dessert.

Wir sind hier spontan an unserem Anreisetag hereingestolpert. Das Buffet ist wirklich gross und einladend. Die Speisen variieren dabei, folgen aber schon dem Motto: Gesundheit. Fanden wir gelungen. Preislich ein wenig erhöht für gebotene Qualität, aber immer noch im Rahmen. Ambiente einladend. Service an der Kasse überaus freundlich! Wir würden spontan wieder eintreten, aber den Umweg außerhalb der Stadt nicht für die Lokalität auf uns nehmen.

it is a vegetarian (According to indians Except Eggs) Restaurant. We absolutely liked their food by weight system. they have plenty of options. Salad, Rice, fried items, protein and vegan meat. during our 4 night stay in Amsterdam we have tried 3-4 times variety of dishes and most of them are near perfection and tasty. they have separate soup combo with different sizes and it is good enough portion for 1 person. also they have some in house made sauce which on chargeable basis. but worth having it. it is tasty. if you are staying near to this place, it is a must try place. you will certainly not disappointed.

Nice place with delicious food and tasty drinks. Everything is organic and vegetarian. You can help yourself to your food from a buffet and pay per gram. There were so many tasty options that it was difficult to choose. Allergens are well indicated and there are many gluten-free options.

Delicious food, lots of choice! I thought the price was quite okay, 20 euros for a full plate. I found the ice cream disappointing and relatively expensive, it would be better to have a piece of cake.

Great food and flavours! Nothing to say about that. Very inspirational. Only down side: I find it a bit overpriced. Especially a small soup for takeaway is €5 euro. A full plate of food will cost you €20/22 euro without table service.

La comida estaba bien, y tenía algo de sabor en ella, pero nada espectacular. El personal era inútil, no sabían nada sobre las bebidas, y mientras me atendían, el miembro del personal que me atendía fue y comenzó a atender a otro cliente. No pierdas tu tiempo o dinero yendo al lugar.

Very healthy varied meals made in the kitchen.

The food was delicious, with many different dishes with different 100% organic and vegan, it was really a perfect lunch for me. The lemon pie for dessert was also perfect, without any lactose and lots of flavor. The staff was really kind, especially the lady who served me the lemon pie. Thanks!

Lovely place in East with a good terrace in the sun where you almost always have room.

Easy and accessible way to get good food. Kitchen is extremely noisy when washing dishes. That clatter makes it almost impossible to have a good conversation. It would also be nice if there were 1 or 2 meat options, so you can also bring your carnivorous friends.

A fantastic vegan buffet with gluten-free and allergen-free options. Highly recommended for quality, variety and price.

Delicious, healthy and diverse vegetarian organic food. The space is large and there are a lot of people, which makes it quite noisy. It would also have been nice if there was someone to explain how the concept works.

Every time I go to this cafe, I stink afterwards. Really bad smell inside. Outrageously expensive food.

The atmosphere and place are cozy

Delicious vegetarian and organic buffet. The concept is also great: serve yourself a plate, weigh it and the price is determined based on the weight. For a tasty and healthy meal it was not very expensive (between €15-€25 depending on how big of an eater you are), but it is not very pleasant to sit here, due to the canteen atmosphere and everyone going back and forth all the time. running again. Still, I would recommend this restaurant because the food was very tasty, extremely fresh and varied (and 100% vegetarian). You can enjoy all kinds of salads, seasonal vegetables, soups, potatoes, as well as various protein dishes (think marinated tempeh, seitan, tofu, but also eggs, or just a tasty lasagna with cheese).

Duur en smakeloos eten. De seitan daging of rendang (weet ik even niet meer) had te weinig smaak. De eiersalade met bieslook vond ik zelfs vies, de plak gegrilde courgette had weinig smaak etc. alleen de rode koolsalade vond in wel lekker. Jammer want vegetarisch eten kan ook heel smaakvol zijn. Verder vond ik het prijzig, zeker gezien het feit dat je niet bediend wordt.

Positive vibe, nice working place, and connected to a good quality supermarket. It wasn't until the 3rd time visiting that I actually noticed it is a vegan place! Which for me as a non-vegan is a positive thing—you don't miss 'animal' products on the menu because everything is so tasty!

These pictures are from several days but I’m sharing them all because they’re pretty to look at. Not only is it beautiful, but the food is great too. There is a lot of variety in food and I think everything is vegetarian too. I really do enjoy meat a lot, but this is the only restaurant that makes me forget about it. Everything is so good, it’s just on the pricier side but the taste of the food makes it worth the money. Also great ambience.

Really fun place and GREAT options for vegans + vegetarians! We saw this place listed and not a far walk from the Maritime Museum we'd visited. LOVED that there was such a wide assortment of vegan food options to pick from in a 'buffet-style' setting. I enjoyed trying a little bit of many different dishes - including a few different dessert options :P Really appreciated the extensive food allergy + dietary differences labeling. Great atmosphere and service as well. Would recommend this place to anyone in the area.

Whilst I do love the concept, the ambiance of the restaurant, the food is overpriced. In essence it's like a school-cantine, where you sort out your own food, it's being weighed at the bar where you pay and order drinks. And afterwards you are also the waiter yourself and you bring back your plate to their dishwashing belt! The vibe is nice, this place seems to attract more progressive audience.

Not the first person calling it over-priced, but oh well, where else do you even find a vegetarian buffé in Amsterdam? And quality is great. Closest you can get to Wholefoods in NL.

Great place fir a vegan friendly buffet, where you pay by weight! They have so so many oorionssss and Almost everything was plant based and delicious. Not a big fan of tiramisu though….

Self-service restaurant near the port. Here you can only get a variety of vegetarian dishes, which are presented in buffet form. We had dinner in the evening and each had 100 gr. Paid €3.50. You grab a plate, load it with whatever your heart desires and pay after weighing it at the counter. That's why service is given rather low consideration in the rating. The dishes taste very good across the board. The Saitan Ribs and Shitake Steaks in particular are awesome. All in all, not exactly cheap, but tasty and exceptional.

Delicious food, wide choice and surprising dishes/variations. In the restaurant I could put more than enough deliciousness on my plate for €15. Toogoodtogo collaboration also great: for €5 I got a meal of three different dishes, enough for two. ✨Tip: take a madeleine home with you, they are delicious.✨

This was one of our favorite places to dine in Amsterdam on our visit. Food was amazing, options in abundance, and the service was great. The atmosphere was very relaxed and cozy. My wife and I are vegan and could eat nearly everything offered. Would come back again 100%!

Really not too expensive for a plate of normal food

This place is just superb! Inside, light, airy, modern and fresh. The food is wholesome, healthy and delicious. Just serve yourself from the buffet, take to the counter, weigh, pay and then eat-in or take-out. What a find. So glad we had lunch here.

Delicious vegan & organic food!

Everything was delicious but you really have to be careful not to overspend with the buffet. The plate pictured was about 14€ and it was just barely enough food for a petite person. It's the perfect place for a light meal.

I was staying in the hotel nearby so had a number of breakfasts and dinners here... it was all OH SO DELICIOUS! really one of the best vegetarian places I've been to! 110% recommend and already looking forward to go back when I m in AMS

Super nice place, where you can sit and read or work endlessly and get food and drinks at your own time at the buffet or bar. It is not cheap, but of excellent quality and organic and vegetarian, for which I am happy to pay a little extra. The employees are friendly and helpful.

A zero wasting, great tasting buffet, executed well. Love the concept, you pay what your plate weighs so there was no piling up food and creating leftovers. Each dish is labelled clearly and it encouraged me to try a little of something I wouldn't have ordered on its own. The buffet is presented well, everything is the right temperature and there are too many desserts to try in one visit! I would recommend and will return.

Expensive, BUT - know that cheap heavy foods like potatoes should be skipped. Instead, go for the lighter Tempeh and soy based proteins and you’ll fare better. That being said FOOD IS DELICIOUS! The “sausage” with onions was amazing! I enjoyed all the tempeh based offerings too. The fried cauliflower was great also but HEAVY so cheap cauliflower cost a lot. I’ll get this somewhere else in the future but knowing you choose lighter options that can cost more, you’ll do really well here. My meal was 16€ and totally worth it. Enjoy!

Really loved this place during my stay in Amsterdam. I really enjoyed the food, very flavorful. I also am a big fan of the business model, pricing by weight. You can take things to go, they’ve got soup, ice cream and a case of desserts in addition to the buffet, really covered all the bases.

Vers eten en okay salades. Schrok wel van de prijs, 14 euro voor een kleine salade . Koffie heel lekker ! Je weegt je eten, meenemen kan ook.

Het eten is erg lekker en gevarieerd, maar wel aan de prijzige kant. Je betaalt per 100 gram eten, waardoor de prijs van tevoren wat lastig in te schatten is. Verder een hele fijne plek om te zitten werken, lekker ruim. Wifi is alleen wel wat langzaam.
