Spirit Amsterdam in Oostelijke Eilanden/Kadijken

Very dirty place. All chairs have spills on them and are very dirty. The floor is dirty. Normally we wouldn’t care about the floor cleanliness but when you come with young kids, you would like the place to be at least clean… We had full plates of food and it cost 30€ each. We were shocked. We could’ve gone to an all-you-can eat for 40€ not so far away and that was very clean and included meat too. And we were very hungry after finishing our food in this place but spending at least 30€ more per person for no meat would’ve been preposterous. For this money you would think they would come by your table to ask what drinks you want to order and afterwards to clean the table. Wrong. You have to queue at the counter, where there were 3 ladies today at 19:00, but they were all chit chatting and I had to wait for them to finish their conversation before one of them decided to help me. And no, they are not friendly, as other reviews mentioned. The ladies are bored and seem bothered that they need to stop their chit chat in order to weigh my food and take my money… We’re not coming here again.

The food is great, the service too.. What bothers me are the chairs in the restaurant with fabric upholstery. They are extremely dirty, covered in stains and circles! Well, a cleaning with a steam cleaner is not an unnecessary luxury! The upholstery of the couch and the cushions could also be washed.. Not exaggerated, but every chair looks dirty! The eye wants something too..doesn't look fresh.. I hope you will do something about this!

Great buffet option in Amsterdam. Don't expect fast service. Unfortunately, it is vegetarian, so please prepare for that! Try the cakes they have 😀

Totally overpriced trashy food. Being forced to pay for chips or steamed broccoli by weight really offends my sensibilities. If it was €25 or €30 and all you can eat that would be much better, even if the quality of the food was still low.

Large vegetarian buffet where you can eat delicious and healthy food. Always plenty of options to choose from, lots of savory and sweet options too. Atmosphere is pleasant, nice music and friendly staff. On the pricey side, but always a very good experience, I have been coming here for a number of years now.

Had lunch here with a friend from Amsterdam. Surprisingly large tent with many options for food. I had never tasted tofu before. The nice thing is that you can find everything here and try it out! So is tofu! There are complete meals that you can take a scoop of. Or you choose something individual. Everything is possible! So I took a little bit of everything because I didn't know many products and wanted to taste them. A plate full for just under €20.00. We were already full after this plate, but the pastry looked so delicious, so we took 2 slices of it and shared it. We had a high table by the window overlooking the street. I enjoy seeing Amsterdam with all its special residents. A tangle of cars, cyclists and pedestrians, all teeming together right in front of you. We rolled out with bellies a little too full. But I enjoyed it. I will definitely come back here... not for tofu... that wasn't my thing 😉

Went here unexpectedly at the invitation of a friend and had dinner/drinks over Easter. What a truly wonderful concept and the dishes were heavenly. This is definitely a place I will go to more often, not exactly cheap but it's so worth it, it's all organic and vegetarian.

it was my first time at Spirit: I found a spacious and bright ambience, also suitable for bloggers and those who work with their PCs on the go. The food was spectacular, with the freedom to choose the quantities and different dishes on display. I really liked the concept and did not find it expensive in terms of prices. The friendly staff was ready to help you and explain how the dish could be composed. I highly recommend it and I will definitely return. Oh I forgot the most important thing is that the food is Vegan-Vegetarian.

Tasty healthy food. atmosphere is a little less. Dirty dirty chairs and sofas. Cup of tea almost 4 euros is just hot water and yet cheaper than espresso 🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

One of my favorite places in Amsterdam. Each dish has all the ingredients and allergens listed. Perfect if you look for dairy-free and gluten-free options. Many vegan ice cream options, vegan cakes, and other desserts. Cold and warm dishes, plus delicious soups. As it's a buffet, service is quite fast, and they are open until late. If you are with kids, they have a special section for them to play. Highly recommended!

Expensive tasteless food, mice walking around the place... Not very hygienic.

There’s no one to welcome you—you just grab your plate and eat. A note on the table asks you to leave your empty dishes near the dishwasher, but there’s no proper shelf or trolley for this. Instead, there was a messy corner full of dirty dishes. The prices are a bit high for what they offer, with limited hot dish options and almost everything being fried. Disappointing experience overall.

Fairly good food in general (big downside for the lasagna). 100% vegetarian (with vegan option). Too bad some things were empty (but it was quite late when we went there). I also think that there should be a little more hot accompaniment, because the choice of starchy foods was quite poor. In terms of price it is not cheaper than a traditional restaurant because it can quickly add up as it is by weight and when it is the first time you go there you may be tempted to want to taste a lot of thing. For the service difficult to talk about something that is almost non-existent. No welcome or explanation of the concept, the waitress who passes by us when we are looking for a table and who does not say hello. Same thing for the person at the checkout where I said hello twice without getting a response.

Cornflake encrusted cauliflower and yuzu cake were our favorites on this visit, but honestly everything was lekker! We had previously visited the Rotterdam location, but Amsterdam has a better setup in terms of the seating IMHO. Spirit has the widest selection of delicious vegan dishes you will find anywhere. Never disappointed.

Absolutely wonderful! A huge buffet choice of wonderfully delicious foods. Despite our restricted diets, we have been able to fill our plates with a massive selection - and it all tastes SOOOO good. Beer and other drinks available too. Clean and relaxing. We'll be there again tonight - can't wait!

Solid, healthy and varied vegetarian food, also for breakfast, lunch, or in between. It's a buffet, you pay by weight (although they also have soup and cake per portion). Handy place if you want to eat something healthy quickly or for a lunch appointment, less suitable for a nice, extensive dinner.

De smaken zijn heerlijk, ik had alleen verwacht dat voor het diner ook warme gerechten zouden zijn. Hetgeen wat warm zou moeten zijn was echt lauw/ bijna afgekoeld, vooral winterse gerechten als paddestoelen ( waren echt koud)en de groenten waren ook niet warm. Jammer, want anders zou het veel smakelijker zijn geweest.

Amazing buffet, chilled vibe, super good food.

You can eat daily fresh made organic vegetarian food. It tastes so good!! and you can weigh your plate and pay for the weight. the veggi steaks are so good, never tasted anything like it. and you can go in and out quickly. If you have kids it's so perfect as well. If you struggle choosing vegetarian over meat this is the place for you because everything is veg.

Delicious and enormous variety of ORGANIC vegetarian food! You can hardly get better in Amsterdam and something different than those endless vegetarian burgers and fries. The combinations of flavors and ingredients are quite special. Eat a small lunch here every week. It's just a shame that some of the staff come across as a bit haughty. Well yes. It is worth something to me to be able to eat tasty dishes and unsprayed organic ingredients from healthy soil somewhere other than at home. In short; highly recommended!

Cozy place with lots of different salads and warm dishes, all vegetarian and all great taste. We came for lunch. The ice cream was not that great though (we didn’t realize it would be vegan).

I regularly eat here, good experiences. Stop by tonight for a cup of coffee and lime cheesecake. I always take this. It was more watery and the lime flavor was missing. Very unfortunate. Do you have changes in the kitchen?

Nos encantó este lugar tanto que fuimos dos veces durante nuestra semana en Amsterdam. Me recordó a Tibits que era un embrujo habitual nuestro en el Reino Unido hasta que cerró. Gran selección de platos, todos etiquetados para alérgenos y la mayoría de los platos eran veganos también. El curry tempeh de cacahuete y la mousse de chocolate eran especialmente buenos.

Excellent place for both lunch and dinner, as well as a great spot to sit and study. The buffet offers a wonderful selection of vegan and vegetarian options, which is perfect for someone like me with a whole food plant-based diet. I really appreciate that you can clearly see all the ingredients in the dishes, making it easy to make informed choices.

Wir sind hier spontan an unserem Anreisetag hereingestolpert. Das Buffet ist wirklich gross und einladend. Die Speisen variieren dabei, folgen aber schon dem Motto: Gesundheit. Fanden wir gelungen. Preislich ein wenig erhöht für gebotene Qualität, aber immer noch im Rahmen. Ambiente einladend. Service an der Kasse überaus freundlich! Wir würden spontan wieder eintreten, aber den Umweg außerhalb der Stadt nicht für die Lokalität auf uns nehmen.

it is a vegetarian (According to indians Except Eggs) Restaurant. We absolutely liked their food by weight system. they have plenty of options. Salad, Rice, fried items, protein and vegan meat. during our 4 night stay in Amsterdam we have tried 3-4 times variety of dishes and most of them are near perfection and tasty. they have separate soup combo with different sizes and it is good enough portion for 1 person. also they have some in house made sauce which on chargeable basis. but worth having it. it is tasty. if you are staying near to this place, it is a must try place. you will certainly not disappointed.

Nice place with delicious food and tasty drinks. Everything is organic and vegetarian. You can help yourself to your food from a buffet and pay per gram. There were so many tasty options that it was difficult to choose. Allergens are well indicated and there are many gluten-free options.

Great food and flavours! Nothing to say about that. Very inspirational. Only down side: I find it a bit overpriced. Especially a small soup for takeaway is €5 euro. A full plate of food will cost you €20/22 euro without table service.

Very healthy varied meals made in the kitchen.

The food was delicious, with many different dishes with different 100% organic and vegan, it was really a perfect lunch for me. The lemon pie for dessert was also perfect, without any lactose and lots of flavor. The staff was really kind, especially the lady who served me the lemon pie. Thanks!

Easy and accessible way to get good food. Kitchen is extremely noisy when washing dishes. That clatter makes it almost impossible to have a good conversation. It would also be nice if there were 1 or 2 meat options, so you can also bring your carnivorous friends.

Delicious, healthy and diverse vegetarian organic food. The space is large and there are a lot of people, which makes it quite noisy. It would also have been nice if there was someone to explain how the concept works.

Delicious vegetarian and organic buffet. The concept is also great: serve yourself a plate, weigh it and the price is determined based on the weight. For a tasty and healthy meal it was not very expensive (between €15-€25 depending on how big of an eater you are), but it is not very pleasant to sit here, due to the canteen atmosphere and everyone going back and forth all the time. running again. Still, I would recommend this restaurant because the food was very tasty, extremely fresh and varied (and 100% vegetarian). You can enjoy all kinds of salads, seasonal vegetables, soups, potatoes, as well as various protein dishes (think marinated tempeh, seitan, tofu, but also eggs, or just a tasty lasagna with cheese).

Duur en smakeloos eten. De seitan daging of rendang (weet ik even niet meer) had te weinig smaak. De eiersalade met bieslook vond ik zelfs vies, de plak gegrilde courgette had weinig smaak etc. alleen de rode koolsalade vond in wel lekker. Jammer want vegetarisch eten kan ook heel smaakvol zijn. Verder vond ik het prijzig, zeker gezien het feit dat je niet bediend wordt.

Positive vibe, nice working place, and connected to a good quality supermarket. It wasn't until the 3rd time visiting that I actually noticed it is a vegan place! Which for me as a non-vegan is a positive thing—you don't miss 'animal' products on the menu because everything is so tasty!

These pictures are from several days but I’m sharing them all because they’re pretty to look at. Not only is it beautiful, but the food is great too. There is a lot of variety in food and I think everything is vegetarian too. I really do enjoy meat a lot, but this is the only restaurant that makes me forget about it. Everything is so good, it’s just on the pricier side but the taste of the food makes it worth the money. Also great ambience.

Really fun place and GREAT options for vegans + vegetarians! We saw this place listed and not a far walk from the Maritime Museum we'd visited. LOVED that there was such a wide assortment of vegan food options to pick from in a 'buffet-style' setting. I enjoyed trying a little bit of many different dishes - including a few different dessert options :P Really appreciated the extensive food allergy + dietary differences labeling. Great atmosphere and service as well. Would recommend this place to anyone in the area.

Whilst I do love the concept, the ambiance of the restaurant, the food is overpriced. In essence it's like a school-cantine, where you sort out your own food, it's being weighed at the bar where you pay and order drinks. And afterwards you are also the waiter yourself and you bring back your plate to their dishwashing belt! The vibe is nice, this place seems to attract more progressive audience.
