Poor. The waiter took the liberty of serving my drink in a paper cup without asking, as it would allow him to charge me more for the cup.

a small cafe in novotel, they serve coffee, snacks, pre-made sandwiches, and made to order sandwiches/rolls. (and many many more) i tried the pistachio roll based on the cashiers recommendation. it was really delicious and i had to return to order a second helping to takeaway. its a sweet treat with pistachio and strawberry jam, so if you dont have a sweet tooth 🦷 i wouldnt recommend this for you! it pairs perfectly with a hot black coffee ☕️ stach also has some baked treats for sale, those were delicious as well. i could not resist buying a pack of 5 florentiners- it was filled with almonds, preserved fruits, and chocolate! if you need a quick fix for breakfast when youre staying in novotel, dont hesitate in checking stach out!

I ordered a takeaway sandwich, but the presentation was completely unacceptable. The sandwich was thrown directly into a paper bag without any proper wrapping, leaving it disorganized and messy. This lack of basic packaging is highly disappointing and unhygienic. I expected better attention to detail and care in handling food. Would not recommend ordering here unless they improve their standards.

Doesn't do the name Stach justice. Stale bread for the second time in a row.

The opening time really needs to be updated and be consistent. I usually get here around 8:45 on. Saturday, and it’s already open with lots of customers. Today I got here at 8:05am and it was still closed. Even though the sign says 7:30am for Saturday. Yet on Google it says 9:00am for Saturday and it’s always open before 9? It doesn’t make sense. Lots of customers end up leaving because they think it’s already open and it’s not.

Looking for a place to concentrate with the laptop, here is just ok. The area is not so big, but having the café there makes it noisy.

Coffeeshop Bluebird is one of Amsterdam’s true legends, first opening its doors back in 1982. Since then, it has rightfully earned its place as one of the city’s oldest and most authentic coffeeshops. Stepping inside feels like entering a retro universe of the 1980s — the interior has barely changed over the decades. Stained glass, psychedelic artwork, and a laid-back, hippie-chic vibe create an atmosphere that’s both nostalgic and welcoming. It’s a throwback to a freer, bolder, and more vibrant time. The coffeeshop is spread over two levels: The ground floor features a bar with high stools, drinks, and a small space for a quick smoke. The upstairs lounge is spacious and comfortable, with cozy sofas and large windows offering great views of the street — perfect for kicking back and watching the world go by. There’s also a small outdoor terrace, though rolling on it is not allowed. One of Bluebird’s biggest points of pride is its product selection. You'll find a solid lineup of Afghan hash traditions and the iconic Nepalese Temple balls, long beloved by connoisseurs since the 1990s. The menu also includes space cakes, a variety of drinks, barista-made coffee, free Wi-Fi, and even a Volcano vape station. The friendly, multilingual staff is always happy to help — whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned enthusiast. Bluebird consistently earns high ratings — around 4.2 to 4.5 stars, and it’s frequently featured in top coffeeshop guides, from LillyLikes to the Connoisseur Guide. If you’re looking to do more than just try — if you want to immerse yourself in the real spirit of old Amsterdam — Bluebird is a perfect stop. Unhurried, full of character, and rich with history.
